((No worries ^_^))
She nodded to the raccoon, smiling absent-mindedly to herself though a look of frustrated determination was present. The doe was too far into this to just let it go, and she knew this wasn't a man to manipulate. She wasn't here to play a role, she was here to actually solve this, and a part of her wanted to know more about this casual and aloof stranger from the Queen's past. Other than just admiring his ability to live off the land and his own capabilities as a hard working man, which she did admire immensely, she also enjoyed his straightforward nature. It made it easier for her blunt honesty to fit in.
"You speak as if you can read my thoughts Lawrence." She chuckled to herself and headed up the stairs, wondering if the raccoon would regret the extra lodgings. Idly she wondered when the last time he'd been with a woman was, court life tended to stifle personal lives. So long as it didn't become a... distraction of life-threatening degrees, it was none of her business. "Goodnight." The voice came over her shoulder as she turned into the door, all too ready for a soft bed and a good night's rest.
-----
She'd jolted out of bed, her mind telling her body not to oversleep and leave her sore for the day. Her first instinct was to make sure the raccoon was okay, though she didn't know why as the canine had made it clear he wasn't a threat to them and that if he was, he would also make That very clear as well. She came up to Lawrence's door and knocked twice, stiffly enough to be heard but not too loud. Sekhmet had learned to knock in much the same fashion as the male, though for not as long.
Glancing over to Elias' cabin, she could see the 'taur canine retreating back inside with what looked like a bow and arrows. That could prove interesting, she hadn't had any experience with them in the past, but they always had fascinated her with the simple elegance and efficiency they possessed. She waited for the raccoon to come to the door before nodding towards Elias' cabin. "Good morning. We should go greet our host and let him know we're awake." Secretly she hoped offering to help with... whatever he was doing would postphone his attempts at rushing them back to the Highlands long enough to make some more progress in convincing him to accompany them. But honestly? She didn't have any more to go on this morning than the night before. She'd have to hope something slipped out in casual conversation to help her.
Which meant that at the very least, she could pursue her interest in getting to know the not-so-stranger better and learning about his history perhaps in the process. If he had known Shinrai since he was a colt, this meant he'd been living in these woods a Long time, so he probably had some very helpful knowledge to share to someone with the interest to listen...

Larry came awake groggily when he heard the knocks but he gave a muffled sound that was probably affirmation of the woman's words. It took him a few minutes to get up and moving, but after he did, he was fairly quick to join the woman out on the steps.
He had slept pretty well, so he just stretched as he came out and greeted the Jack with a small smile and a soft 'Good morning'. He was ready for this attempt whenever she was.

Sekhmet nodded at the returned greeting and began to head over towards Elias' cabin. When she reached the door, she was the one to knock this time. He knew they were there and all, but it was still polite to knock. Glancing out, she wondered if he'd been hunting all morning with that bow and arrow, and found herself embarassed to have slept in so long. Normally the full light of morning just after dawn was her alarm clock, but not today. The trip had been so very physically draining, and now she was trying to wrack her brain for a way to convince the canine to put aside his personal grudges or whatever it was that kept him from making the move to visit His Majesty.
The doe found herself wondering what it would be like if the Queen was impressed enough by her eventual success in this endeavour. She was right on time as far as travel went, but she had a feeling the actual 'confrontation' would put her back a few days and perhaps over the stallion's two-week estimation. She'd have to see. Unknowingly she'd set that as a time restraint for herself, having to live up to the Queen's unusually high opinion of her capabilities. Not that she wasn't worthy of that opinion, but rumours had gone around that she wasn't. Would Lawrence continue to be her companion if she took up the spot of King? That would be nice, she felt a strange connection of friendship with the raccoon. "Did you sleep well?" She asked as she waited for the 'taur to call them in or open the door.

Elias heard the knock and ignored it. He was doing a lot of that lately. Well, he had nothing new to say, and some work to do, so he went about his business in the cabin. He had his gear in order to go out later and check his traps and the trail. Things could change quickly in the Marsh, but he could get a pretty good picture of how things would look in a couple days or weeks. So he'd check his trails later, and see if his real traps had landed any food.
He noted with some amusement that the dishes were done; he hadn't heard wrong then. Well, one less thing to do, then.
He moved into his room, checked his maps, and made notes of any trouble places he'd marked. He wouldn't take the maps just now, that was his little secret from outsiders.
Satisfied that his work was finished in his cabin, he grabbed his gear, strapped it on, and moved to his front door. "'Scuse me," he said, moving past the duo on his way into the treeline.

Lawrence nodded in answer to the woman's question, absently wondering if perhaps Elias hadn't heard their knock even though the woman had done so quite firmly. "Yes, thank you," the man answered quietly, running his fingers up and down the spear shaft. "How did you sleep?" They stood around made small talk, waiting for the canine to let them in.
However, Elias eventually came out and simply brushed past them. Larry blinked in surprise and turned to glance at the woman and to find out how she wanted to react. It seemed like their rather passive attitude wasn't getting anywhere; however, Elias also didn't seem to be in the least bit concerned about his current relationship with the Queen of Hearts. The canine didn't appear to think there was any bad blood between them.
Larry thought briefly about the hidden letter Queen Rai had given him, but, no. It wasn't yet time to use that. Wot approach could they take? They were in a strange position since Elias knew why they were there, but he obviously was unwilling to make this simple for the Jack.
Thinking about it, however, the man also hadn't just slammed the door their faces as he had with Samid. With the glimpses afforded to them thus far of the Marshdweller, it was pretty obvious that Elias could have just disappeared into the Marsh and not even bothered with them at all. The traps had the possibility of being dangerous, but there was also a way to get out of them without extreme danger. He was a wary man, but not outright hostile. He was, in short, a thinking man. They needed to give him an intelligent reason to return with them.

She had passed out immediately upon setting herself in bed, and had had a nice restful sleep that usually only came after a lot of hard work. "Very well, th-" She was cut off by the sudden rushed appearance of the canine. Well good morning to you, too.. she mused to herself as she turned while backing up to give him space to move by. "In a rush? Perhaps we could help before we head out." It wasn't a lie or anything, they were going to head out eventually... just not as soon as her words made it sound. Maybe if she backed off a bit he would open up to her a little more so she could find out more about the canine and the whole... situation he and the Queen had.
As it stood, if he honestly didn't want to speak to Shinrai, she couldn't figure out a way to coax him along. He had everything he needed at his cabin and in the woods, he worked to make his own living and to feed himself. There wasn't much she could offer him that would entice such a practical creature. What were money and jewels to a wood-dweller anyway? Not much. She glanced at his gear and evaluated it inside her head. Had he gone out and bought the bow and arrows or had he made them himself? Blades he would have had to have bought, but when was the question. Perhaps he would come to the Highlands for the sake of some new weapons?
It was hard to just come out and ask these questions though, she needed time and an opportunity to just talk without all of the pushing and shoving from both sides. The doe glanced at Lawrence, wondering what he thought of the whole ordeal, but not asking. She wished she'd had some time to bounce ideas off of him the night before, but that probably wouldn't have helped. Sekhmet began to walk after the canine, hoping that by following him, he wouldn't just tell them to take off. It looked like he had a lot of work to do, so she was hopeful.

Really, it didn't seem like the man had even noticed them at first; he simply headed out into the Marsh, as though oblivious to the presence of his two followers. When Sekhmet sent Larry the questioning glance, he took a long moment to contemplate how to follow through on his thoughts earlier.
Elias had a swift pace and Larry, at least, had to really push himself to keep up with the other two. He tried to speak low and under his breath to the woman, but he was panting slightly so it likely came out a bit louder than he intended.
"Maybe... if we... can... give him... another... reason... to come...?" And they had a trump card, but the Queen had told him in no uncertain terms that it was an absolute last resort.

She glanced back at her companion and nodded. "Just what I'd been thinking. But really, unless you know something I don't, I'm not sure why such a self sufficient man would need to leave his cabin in the woods." She had slowed her pace ever so slightly in order to speak to Larry somewhat privately, though the canine probably knew all too well what they were coversing about. Oh well, so much for acting like they were giving up. He probably could assume by now that they were the... determined kind. Sekhmet, especially.
"Weapons, trap supplies... he Has to be running out of the latter with what I've seen. But he could get that stuff in a multitude of places, though the Highlands tend to have the best of the best. Either way, no matter what we offer to escort him along for, he'll still know what our ultimate goal is once he's there. We'd have to give him a very damn good reason to come for him to give in like that." Elias seemed like a hard kind to please. She didn't know nearly enough about him to make any assumptions, which was the hardest part of all, process of elimination just didn't work, because she had nothing to eliminate.
Well, he seemed to have little to no interest in being coaxed into things by attractive members of the opposite sex, much to Sekhmet's dismay. Her natural abilities seemed to be going unused as of late. She almost wished he was of the negotiating kind, if he would just name his price, maybe something he wanted in return, she was certain she could come up with it. "Elias!" She called out, pulling ahead of the raccoon in an attempt to close the distance between herself and the canine.
"I know of someone who could give you back your natural form, or any other, if you ever wished it. One of the joys of palace life is new and interesting contacts. Consider it a thank-you for being so hospitable and not killing us, my contacts are your contacts." She had No idea if he liked or disliked the 'taur form he'd been forced into, but she had a feeling from his small offended comment from before that it was a touchy subject. If she was lucky, she might have hit a string with this one. Thinking back to when she was young, if someone had of ever offered her a way to get rid of her wings...
Even if he didn't care whether or not he had the extra limbs, at least she'd left her offer open to a vast majority of things. As a naturally curious and ambitious Jack, she'd established quite an impressive amount of contacts who could bestow upon the canine a great amount of different things were she to ask...

Elias paused when she called his name. Looked like they decided to follow him. He decided he might as well stop, he didn't want to have to worry about them mis-stepping up ahead. He watched them approach with a bemused expression on his face.
"No, you're mistaken. I like this form, it's got it's uses. I was just pointing out the irony of saying 'Not to be rude' and then being tactless. Easy mistake to make. Contacts, though, contacts is a smart move? Do you have better contacts than, oh, say Queen Shinrai??
He grinned a little. "I'm just messing with you a little. You're trying hard though, and thinking. That puts you a step ahead of most people. It's nice to see that you're past that apology business. Not quite sure what that was all about, but it felt like you were barking up the wrong tree. Now that we're past just talking about me going, maybe we can negotiate something worth both our time. What do you get out of this, anyway? Must be something if you're still around." To this day, he couldn't help it. He just had to help and teach the Cards he came into contact with.
