The whole evening had been, in general and in specific, absolutely fantastic. As time wore on, he relaxed more and more until he was teasing back on a regular basis, and even flirting a little, though it was quiet and shy enough that most people would have been forgiven for not noticing it. Then, heading back, he was perfectly willing to cuddle up to Mo in the carriage, and then and there he was more than grateful for its presence, for it wouldn't have been nearly as romantic if they'd had to walk back to the Court on foot.
When Mo finally spoke, he lifted his head to look at the hybrid with curious eyes. He was warm, and full of good food - and he'd been right, it had been ridiculously fresh - and he was so very comfortable. So what else could his friend want to ask?
...oh.
Oh.
...
The resulting shriek of joy probably deafened people five miles away, to say nothing of Mo, who was right next to him. Then again, maybe having an otter hugging you tightly with possible intent of suffocation drowned out some of the echoes.

He watched in quiet curiosity as the otter took those few brief moments to process exactly what he wanted with a somewhat amused grin. That of course was until he got that shriek of joy, which caught him completely by surprise .... well, it made him jump and all of his fur stood on end. He also wasn't expecting to be scooped up in a tight hug and gave a little squeak in response to that. That was .... wow, that was such a weird reaction to get from the quiet, shy otter.
He waited for the ringing in his ears to subside before he arched his neck in a just the right way to peer at the boy that was presently attached to him, that grin back on his face. That was nice .... but he wanted a verbal answer as well .... just to be sure.
I take it that's a yes?
He took the opportunity to sling onto the otter and flip himself, and Aph, over so that Aphasia was pretty much sitting atop him, and curled his tail around him as well. He wondered briefly why the driver didn't stop to check and make sure everything was alright but he definitely didn't mind not being checked on.

"Yes! I...Suits, I'm sorry, Mo." He ducked his head as he realized what he'd just done, vivid blush very, very obvious on his face. "I'm just...I'm just happy, because I really, really like you a lot," and even that didn't come close to how he really felt, but he didn't want to confess in a carriage of all places, no matter that Mo had thought it an appropriate place to ask him if he wanted them to become official as a them, as opposed to a pair of friends. And really, that whole train of thought he'd just had was rather silly, but he was used to that. "So I'm really happy, and I'm sorry I yelled, but yes!"
He curled up tighter against Mo, still practically thrumming with joy, and wondered distantly if this was what Quinn had felt like when she got Vessatha to agree to be her mate. If so, then maybe he understood her constant desire to make so very much of her all the time. He, however, would be staying well away from the ridiculous pet names, unless Mo indicated that there was one that he liked.

He giggled a bit at the Spade's apologetic response, his grin growing until it was broad and toothy. The boy was cute when he was happy! Well, happy and not making Mo's ears ring with it. When the boy was done he moved his head over to lick his cheek, stopping briefly to groom it. This ... was terribly nice and he was certain it was right ... even if it was going to make lingering around the Court of Spades all the more awkward for him.
I just wasn't expecting that kind of reaction from you ... I'm glad ... that it wasn't a no.
He gave a soft, but happy little trill as he wiggled his body a bit to not only be warm and comfortable, but to snuggle up nice and close with the Torquehelm. Now, if only it wouldn't be silly to fall asleep here ... he totally could have.
He was more then a little disappointed when they arrived back home and he had to pull himself from the boy's side and exit the carriage. The driver stayed long enough to wish them a good night and watch them walk through the gates before he took off, he had other things to do that night and, oddly enough, other appointments as well.
He walked the otter all the way back ot his door and paused, trying to keep a grin off his face.
Hey Aph ...
He waited until the otter were to look at him before he leaned in to give him a proper kiss goodnight. He fully intended to do all the right things this time around and, well ... the boy's reactions to kisses were just so bloody adorable!

He leaned happily into the grooming, buyoed by a force that made him feel as light as if he were a Diamond like Mo, capable of just flying away whenever he wanted to. Maybe that was what had happened after all. He'd just flown away to a world where everything was perfect. ...okay, maybe not, but it certainly felt like it.
"Why would I say no? I'd be...I'd be horribly silly to do so." It was true, too. Then again, he also didn't understand why Mia had been stupid enough to turn down Mo's friendship, or get in a fight with him, or whatever had happened, so he supposed that he was probably biased on that point.
There was something weirdly familiar about the driver's dark eyes when he left them at the gates, but Aph dismissed that because it wasn't anything he really wanted to be thinking about right now.
At the door to his rooms, he turned at his name, and proceeded to melt at the kiss. His initial shyness slowly disappeared, and he returned it, ending with a soft, pleased sigh.
"Goodnight, Mo. Thank you so much."

He hadn't exactly been expecting the otter to actually return the kiss, but it was a rather pleasant surprise to see a little of that shyness slipping away when it came to him. He didn't want to see it go away completely, it was one of the most endearing aspects of his otter's personality, but this was good ... this made him all the more confident.
Good night, Aph.
He lingered until the boy closed the door before he turned and practically skipped back to his own room. He didn't go straight to sleep, instead he got started with some thoughts and plans for future dates and things like that. He wasn't going to absolutely spoil the boy, but he was going to make damn sure he knew he was special.
He'd seen Aphasia several times between their date and now and was just as nervous, if not a little more, now then he had been then. It was the otter's birthday, something he'd been waiting for for quite some time, and he had what he believed was the perfect gift for him. He'd had to get the package wrapped for him, paws, no matter how dexterous his might be, just weren't good for things like that .... especially not with sharp claws. He'd been insanely picky about the paper and ribbons used and was presently trotting down the hall to Aph's door with a package wrapped in silver paper and tied up in a lovely purple ribbon.
He stopped in front of the boy's door and set the gift down so he could knock, and give his otter a proper greeting ... his tail was already curled up in delight.

He sighed slowly and happily, feeling the joy run from the tip of his nose all the way to the end of his tail in a long, pleased wave that relaxed every muscle as it passed. Still feeling like he was floating on air, he turned and entered his rooms, closing the door behind him with a shy smile that had a very distinct edge of pure infatuation. And why shouldn't it? Mo was just... Another happy sigh, and he tucked the wordless feeling away in his heart.
Now, how was he supposed to fall asleep after all of that? Oh well. At least, once he did fall asleep, he knew that he'd be having absolutely wonderful dreams. How could he not?
--
Aph was practically bouncing with pure glee as he practically rolled over all of the presents his family had given him. Okay, so he'd given his siblings presents as well, but he didn't doubt that they'd all be doing practically the same thing as him. It was just that Mia would pretend it had never crossed his mind, and he'd make sure to do it in the privacy of his room once he locked the door and windows, and closed the curtains tightly. The ferret was really getting to be no fun lately.
But that didn't matter! He had birthday presents! And Mo was coming to see him today!
At the knock on his door, he abandoned his enthusiastic rolling to bound, fur mussed and a twinkle in his eye, to the door.

He waited outside the door, tail curled up into it's happy shape and ears perked forward. He heard the thumping bound behind the door and he twiddled his toes to keep from doing something silly, but he couldn't help it ... Aph made him want to be just a little silly. He hunkered down and wiggled a bit, much like a feline preparing to pounce. When the door opened he did pounce ... and with a happy giggle on top of it.
Gotcha!
He peered down at the otter with a toothy, mischievous grin, his tail twitching every now and again behind him. He dipped his face down and licked the Spade's cheek before letting him up. He took advantage of his long tail and flipped it around to pull the box toward him and Aph, still grinning.
Also .... this is for you.
He straightened himself up, but the attempt to look anything close to serious was quickly abandoned when he looked at the torque and giggled again at the scruffy state of his fur... that was actually pretty cute.
Happy Birthday!

The door opened and a blur of brown and green knocked him back, which prompted a startled yell that turned into giggles upon realizing that it was Mo, and not some random thing that had just decided to pounce him for no real reason. He groaned theatrically, flopping to the ground beneath him before his ears perked up again, and he curled around to look at the present that was being proffered.
"Ooooh..." He took a long moment to admire the wrapping, the symbolism of which really wasn't lost on him in the least. Before he opened it, he set it aside and curled himself around Mo in a long, curly otter-hug, shyly bussing his cheek. "Thank you so much, Mo! It's beautiful."
Then he unwound himself and settled back before the present, glancing at his friend. "Can I open it now?" He was practically wiggling in place as he fidgited impatiently, ready to open it but first waiting for that last bit of permission that was necessary.

He giggled some more as the otter flopped around in that goofy manner that he was sure only they could. He was amused every time he saw Aph, the boy just got more and more.... lively and fun as time went by, which in turn made him all the happier to be seeing him. He puffed up his chest and grinned some more when the Spade started to inspect his gift and couldn't help but snicker when he said it was beautiful, he hadn't seen the gift yet!
Hmmmm .... I don't know if I should let you open this ... Maybe I should... just let you look at it and wonder.
He grinned and got back up on his paws and snagged the gift in his maw again before prancing a circle around the otter and then through the doorway to invade his room, tail curled the entire time. He set the gift back down and flopped on the floor next to it, shoving it forward with a clawed paw.
Close the door and you can totally open it.
