(( OOC: <3 Posting because I have time right now. >_> I am going to hit a brick wall, soon, I'm sure. )) Xiven had fantastically failed and fallen head over heals while skipping down the street. Unfortunately she brought Fluffy with her, and she was now trying to untangle the leash from her bindings. She had never thought that this would happen. Ever. Maybe she should have stayed by Mom's side or something? But that would have been boring. After a few more minutes she managed to get the leash out from her chains. Triumphant she gave Fluffy a grin. "Really sorry about that, Fluffy. I probably shouldn't try to skip like that. You're okay right?"The little Queen didn't actually wait for a nod or any sort of conformation before she slipped the leash back into her mouth and went back to walking down the street carefully. If she had hands or something this would have been easier. She'd have to wait for that though. She looked back at her Fluffy to see if she was following her properly. Instead the young cat noticed the interesting looks she was getting from some of the people who passed her by. Oops. A Queen and an Ace must be a really weird pair, the thought really never crossed Xiven's mind until she got those looks.

Fluffy trailed along after her owner, trotting contentedly behind the girl. Her attention was caught by all sorts of sights and sounds around them, things she wasn't used to seeing at the palace even when it was busy and there were people everywhere. She was on her leash, though, which meant she should follow along behind Xiven like a good little Fluffy and stop when she stopped, and pay attention or else she'd- -trip! With a startled "Meer!" she tripped when Xiven did, her own balance far worse than the young Queen's even with chains. Being born without a tail meant that she had 'nil' in terms of coordination and she tripped far more often than the other feline on even the best days. When her leash accidentally jerked her forward, she faceplanted on the street and made a distressed little mewling noise before shaking her head and pulling herself upright again. Her chin hurt, but there were small scabs along it as testament to her constant clumsiness and she didn't let it bother her. It was only a sting, after all, only a scrape. A tug on the leash reminded her that they were out on a walk and she followed along behind her owner once more. She didn't notice the fact that they were getting a lot of attention so much as she noticed the other feline's fluffy tail waving along in front of her face. She made a contented little noise in the back of her throat.

The Court of Clubs was all whispers down the grape vine about a challenge to the reigning Queen of Clubs. While the stir gave a sense of excitement to the whirlwind whispered rumors, it gave the opposite effect to Xia. She still had yet to earn the 'K' mark on her chest, and there was already another Queen vying for the top spot, sure to have their own goals if they were willing to chance getting pummeled into the dirt. Not wanting to linger there while everything around her reminded her of her lacking power, she took a bit of a vacation. Maybe a trip to the City would clear her mind. Padding down the street, she had hoped the chaotic nature of the city streets would clear her head with the bombardment of sensory input. Of course, there were plenty of sights to see there. Maybe she could pick up something to eat...As she scanned her eyes ahead of her, something unusual caught her eye. A Card walking another Card...? And they were just children. As with anything that confused her, Xia did what came naturally to her: observation.

Xiven honestly wanted to ignore the loud colors that caught her eye, but it was hard for her. She was a child, and something that pink on something with bright green splotches just wasn't going to go away. She stopped walking to stare at the dog briefly.
A Club. A Jack. Interesting. Xiven's tail flickered as she tilted her head curiously. She was a noble rank of a suit that Xiven hadn't heard much good things about. dropped the leash briefly, telling Fluffy to stay. "Hello..." Xiven said waving a paw at the woman. She wasn't about to get up and walk over to her. If she didn't hear her it didn't really matter. The Jack was either going to respond out of curiosity or not.
Xiven turned to Fluffy. She seemed rather happy even after the fall. Maybe Mommy should check to see if she hurt anything or not? She leaned forward to check under the feline's chin. Oh... no. Fluffy was bleeding a bit it seemed. Mom wouldn't be happy.

Obediently, Fluffy settled herself next to and behind her owner. The paved walkways of the Capital were nowhere near as comfortable as other things, like the grass of the palace rose garden, but they weren't overly rough and she was content to groom one of her paws while she waited.
Xiven's sudden attention made her pause and tilt her head curiously at the girl. She noticed her staring around her face, and then finally figured out the attention was directed to her chin. She blinked and lightly pressed one of her paws to the area, pulling it away to see a tiny bit of red on her paw. Oh, that was messy. That wouldn't do. People got angry whenever she was messy. She licked it off of the top of her paw and then tried to reach it with her tongue, but that never really worked well and this time was no exception.
The dilemma worried her somewhat. She was dirty, but she couldn't clean that part off. She turned to Xiven for the answer, dark eyes expressive. "Meer. Mess? Bad?"

Her right ear twitched as the little feline waved to her. With the child greeting her first, Xia felt it should be fine enough now for her to approach closer, get a better view of these two. Yes, the darker one had been walking the other with a leash...Degrading at best. She looked over the two young felines, her eyes lowering to take a look at the rank and suit. A Queen of Hearts, natural born, judging from the age. Probably the jewel of their parents' eyes. The paler kitten...Her muscles tensed. A bright red 'A' was clearly marked on the child's white fur.
What disturbed her more, however, was the Ace child's actions. She acted with little more intelligence than the banders she kept at her lab back at Corvistowne. She wasn't concerned with the fact that she was injured, but the possibility that the 'mess' she caused would somehow insult the Queen. She pushed these thoughts to the back of her mind. Relax...relax..they're only children.
"Hello, miss. How are you and your...friend enjoying the City today?"

"No, not bad, we'll fix it. Don't worry Fluffy," Xiven said as she carefully nudged the cat under the chin. Her bet was very dear to her, and she wasn't about to let her get hurt without fixing her up. Mommy got angry sometimes when she was careless and let Fluffy get into things.
Xiven's ears swiveled backs as she heard Ataxia's voice. Friend? What? Did she mean Fluffy? Weird. "She's my pet. We're enjoying the city just fine." She eyed the canine for a bit. Wow those socks were really loud. At least she wasn't talking down to Xiven... adults really did like to do that.
"I'm Xiven, she's Fluffy. Who are you?" Xiven didn't ask it in a condescending tone. She knew better than to talk to strangers that way, she just spoke like everything was a fact. As far as she was concerned she was right. She was a Queen after all.

Fluffy licked her owner's paw trustingly when she said her name, one of the words she recognized better than any of the others. The tone she said it in meant she wasn't angry, which was wonderful, and it wasn't a bad mess after all. Maybe it was just a small mess and her owner would help her fix it before Peaches saw.
The canine was a stranger to her and, as she'd been taught, she shuffled back a little more behind Xiven when the woman spoke to them directly. It was her place behind the other feline, not next to her, and she didn't want to get in trouble.
She set about licking her paw again, ignoring the colorful woman like she ignored a lot of people unless they got close enough to Really Notice. She was talking to Xiven, but her tone was still nice and calm and not indignant or angry or scared or worried or any of the other strong emotion that might make the young Ace look up in curiosity or alarm.

A pet. The Ace, the child, was being used as a pet. Like she was some kind of bander on a leash. And the girl...she had been trained for the part or so it looked. Her broken speech mixed with...animal sounds were clear enough evidence to that. And neither one realized the problem with this. They were both blissfully unaware of the vile practice they were a part of...though maybe, maybe it's better that way, at least in this case. The little white feline looked content with her life as a pet. She looked to be cared for enough, better treatment than most Aces receive...
NO! She purged this idea from her head. It was despicable! Treating Cards as pets! What possible potential has been lost by making this girl communicate with broken speech and be pulled around on a leash? It tore at her...but she could not allow it to affect her.
"Good to hear. I'm...Ataxia. Is Fluffy okay there?"
Her speech was very deliberate, almost forced, though it didn't change the fact that she was concerned for the injured girl. She would hate to see the wound become infected or anything like that.

Xiven's ears twitched. She was a Corvie. She could probably help a little right? Xiven didn't like asking for help from complete strangers though.
"She scraped her chin when we tripped. Mommy Peaches is going to be angry with me because I wasn't careful. You... can you patch her up or see if she's really hurt?" Xiven made a worried sound as she turned to Fluffy.
"Fluffy, stay still," The feline ordered as she walked around to sit on the Ace's side. She was usually good with the stay commanded. It got her in really big trouble before when she didn't listen. Poor Fluffy, she really was bleeding. It may not have been much but still, it made Xiven worry. She didn't like it when Fluffy was hurt. She was very much her Fluffy and her responsibility. If something bad happened to her Xiven would never forgive herself. Ever.
