"Fluffy's my pet cat," Xiven said absently as she looked around. Maybe she had left her in the Rose gardens from earlier this morning? No. She didn't leave her back in the room, she remembered that much. The Queen just couldn't quite remember where she was. That and her mother staring down at her wasn't helping all that much. "Never mind, I guess I'll do it later."
"You didn't let her wander around again, did you now Xiven?" Peaches asked as she began to walk. She had a rather menacing motherly sort of voice when she spoke to the child. Peaches didn't like it when Xiven slacked responsibility, and ultimately if Fluffy got into something it was Peaches' fault for not watching her. It was a very frustrating sort of exercise.
"No," Xiven emphatically shook her head. She really didn't want to get in trouble.
"All right," Peaches said with a note of warning. She looked over her shoulder briefly, "The first place to show you isn't all that far."

A pet cat, hmm? That was perhaps more interesting than her having a Bander, but the conversation that fell between mother and daughter was utterly boring. Just idle banter and a bit of scolding, she had tuned it out when Ophelia had attempted it as well. The doe arched a brow as if to appear interested but inside she was simply yawning.
Once Peaches moved ahead, Mephitisia stepped up into her wake before sliding quietly to her left. Listening all the while to the conversation about the missing Fluffy which luckily, for Mephit, ended rather quickly after the child's empathic no. Finally the conversation took a more interesting turn, one that Mephit herself could take a true interest in since she wasn't about to offer to go find the cat.
"Oh? What are you going to show me?"
Mephit wasn't used to being lead anywhere, it was why she chose to figure things like this out herself, but it was far handier to have someone else do all the real looking for you.

"Something," Peaches said as she stared at the wall while walking. She was counting paces, actually, and needed to concentrate. She was being as hospitable as possible, but she wasn't going to lose track of what she was doing.
Xiven padded along besides her, and decided it would be a good idea to fill in the gaps for Miss Mephit. "You know how old houses have hidden rooms and stuff because people forget about them? Well it's something like that. I found it when I was little. It's really just an out of the way door... thing."
Peaches sighed as she came to a stop. The hallway had a rather unusual dent in it, for lack of a better word. She rolled up one of her sleeves to reveal one of her gloved hands, and tapped on the surface of the wall until it gave her the proper sounding hollow sound. Humming she leaned on the wall, until quite suddenly the something that wasn't really a wall flung open.
Thanks to cat like reflexes she caught herself before falling down a flight of rather rickety looking stairs. "There we go. Those fantastic looking steps actually lead to the dungeons and kitchen. From what I gathered it was for servants. They did a weird job of renovating it, considering now when you try to get to said places you.... pretty much fall from the ceiling."

If it were not for Xiven, Mephit would have grown bored and frustrated with Peaches quite quickly and would have left to complete her own business before now. Especially once she left the doe with nothing more than 'something' as a reason to continue following her. Xiven's explanation was appreciated, and Mephit tipped her head in a slight nod to show this.
A forgotten room then? That was actually rather interesting.
"I see."
She perked her ears forward, moments from asking just what this forgotten room might hold when she noted Peaches come to a quick stop and began to feel around the wall. A wall which very abruptly sprung open beneath her touch. Mephit made a swift mental marker of the door and turned her attention onto the woman that had been showing her around.
"Oh?" She leaned closer, peering down the steep flight of rickety stairs. It made her curious to see just what Peaches meant by that, but Mephit wasn't about to go venturing down a pair of stairs and risk breaking her neck just to find out. "Fall from the ceiling, hm? Truly a shoddy job of renovation." She tilted a single orange eye up at Peaches. "Do you know from experience?" It would do her good to know to keep an eye out for strange women falling from the roof while she was in the dungeons.

"Eh. Well. Using the stairs is a death wish. I nearly killed myself exploring them. But you know. It's a good place to be when you want to tell the room to screw off and locking your door doesn't work." She shrugged as she shut the door carefully, making sure it was sealed properly so someone didn't lean on it and tumble down the stairs. Probably should put a bench or something in front of it.
"That's the only crazy structural weird thing I've found. The rest of the crazy in the courts happens to be in the various relationships among people." She smirked. Gossip wasn't what she was talking about either. "I'm sure you'll find out soon enough."
She shrugged as she looked back to her daughter. Xiven wiggled a bit as she jumped up from her seat. "We can show you Miss Heilyn's room if you want. But I doubt she would be there at this hour. Plus you probably haven't seen a lot of the palace already. I mean, do you know where all the important things are?"

"I think I will take your work from it then and leave the venturing of strange tunnels to you." She arched a brow in pure amusement, the closest thing she might actually come to laughing without the imminent prospect of causing someone harm. "Relationships, hm? I see." Those weren't nearly as interesting to her as secret places. Relationships happened all the time, most of them were utterly disgusting.
Xiven's questions brought the doe more interest and she tilted her attention back down onto the younger feline. "The location to her room might be nice, even if she herself would not be in it." Mephitisia paused, being forced to acknowledge Xiven's words as truth. No, no she didn't. She had slipped away into the dungeons with Pravus shortly after arriving and then had gone straight to Bernard and from settling in...she had come here. "I know where some are, but I must admit...not all of them."
Heilyn could wait. This kitten was interesting her now.
"Perhaps I could take a detour from meeting with Heilyn and get a bit of a tour?"

Peaches smirked. Relationships were more complicated than anyone ever expected. And far more interesting that a secret room or place. Those were just good hiding spots. She watched as her daughter perked up.
"Well then! A tour it is! We should show you the gardens, the kitchen, the... uh... I can't think of any other places but my Mom and fill in the gaps. Then we can show you to miss Heilyn's room!" Xiven said as she began to skip down the hall. Well, her version of skipping, it was still hard to skip properly with her bindings.
Peaches shook her head and just followed. It was easier than saying anything. What was the closest point to where they were anyway? The gardens she supposed. They were a rather fantastic place to get away from everyone, or at least to listen to everyone's conversations. Peaches was guilty of both.
(( OOC: >_> feel free to get them to the garden(s). *not all that descriptive at the moment* ))

Mephitisia would have been more interested in relationships had she understood them more. The subtleties of life and love and loyalty were hard for her to understand...they always had been. She had grown up watching her 'family' fawn over or fight with each other, forming bonds and other such things...it had simply never made much sense in the doe's mind.
That, however, was neither here nor there.
What was here and now was that Xiven was taking her on a tour of the palace and Mephitisia really didn't have to think about all those family bonds she never wanted to acknowledge. All the better. "That sounds fine to me, little majesty." The title was added on lightly, almost playful in the unusual serpent-deer's rare moment of content. "Lead the way."
It wouldn't take much length of walking for a familiar smell to reach her nose and for her ears to perk up in surprised pleasure. Oh yes, the Gardens... After tuning out the smell of roses to the back of her mind she had very nearly forgotten the garden had been there at all, but she did love it here, honestly. In fact, were either of them to bother watching her expression, they would find a thin hint of a smile upon her muzzle as they stepped out into the sun-drenched gardens.

Curled up on one of the rocks in the gardens, a pale form made a fuzzy white-and-purple ball, paws twitching as she dreamed. She'd wandered outside after Xiven got distracted and climbed onto the big rock. It was such a beautiful sunny day and no one had told her she couldn't go outside today - she knew she wasn't supposed to go out in the rain because that could make her sick and sneezy - so she decided to soak up the sunshine. She didn't know her owner was looking for her, or that her owner's Mommy Peaches would be cross that she'd wandered outside. She'd done it before once or twice and no one had gotten mad at her, so she assumed it was okay. And really, the place smelled so good, and there were pretty flowers everywhere, and it was a good place to take a nap... In her dreams, she thought she heard her owner's voice and her paws twitched again, whiskers moving along with them. Had she a tail, it would have probably flicked and twitched to complete the picture of a curled, dreaming kitty.
