Elias caught in retrospect her attempt to cut in, and felt a little bad for running right over her, but he did answer her question, at least. “Well, if we get a network of Diamonds who haven’t picked their languages and wouldn’t mind picking them for a job, then we could cover all the Regions. Limitations on powers like that can be made up for with cooperation. See? It’s a big circle. Cooperation makes everything work better. At least, in the highly defined and exclusive examples I’ve been using. But still! Cooperation is rarely a bad thing. I’m like a cooperation storm over here, thinking of all sorts of ways to make the world work better through teamwork! What do you want to do most, Kel?” The question had escaped his lips before he could even think that the sudden shift might be startling. He knew he wouldn’t like to suddenly answer a question like that.

Kel gave a little laugh as the man pointed out his own excitement about what he was talking about. She had no doubt that he liked cooperation or that he was excited about his plans. His question to her, however, surprised her though for her that just seemed to follow the flow of all of her conversations with Elias.
"Want to do the most?" She didn't realized she'd echoed the question aloud as it caused her to retreat back into herself for a long moment.
What did she want to do the most? She. . . just had no answer for that, no clue whatsoever. She liked books, she liked being hidden yet able to observe the world. She just wanted to learn.
"I don't know," she finally answered shyly. "What would you want to do the most?" She rather hoped his answer might help her know how to answer.

Elias opened his mouth to protest with an I Asked You First, but sensed that wouldn’t be much help, so he closed his mouth, thought for a second, and then answered. “I am really a big fan of justice at almost any cost. Justice and order, really. I don’t want something totalitarian, where people are afraid to be or do whatever they want. I think right before that is the best place to be. People are allowed to do whatever they want, but as soon as they cross the line of what is legal or that hurts someone, BAM! They’re caught and corrected or punished. Whichever fits, you know? I’d like to be a part of that for a while before I go back to live in the Marsh. But for now, I like protecting people, keeping them safe. Law enforcement, security, they’re not the same thing, but they’re in the same basket, I guess.
“Okay, now, it really is your turn this time.” He smiled at her with whatever charming trait it was of his that always use to make some people like him no matter how much he wanted to be left alone.

He was spending some time with his daughter Elyse, catching up on what was going on in her life and just to spend some quality time with his precious daughter. While she had been busy with her customary patients the mouse had discovered that she was sorely lacking on reading material. Oh, of course she had many books then he could count on plants, healing process, and illness, but there was not really anything for casual reading. After confirming with her that she was going to be busy for a few hours more he had decided to take a trip out to the local library. Entering the library he paused next to the door to think about what it was that he wanted to read. Not really deciding on anything that came to mind he decided to stroll down he different aisle's till something did. With that plan he took off to the closet one on his left. Walking down the isle he glanced from side to side, trying to see if any title caught his attention. Halfway down the second isle his trip was cut short when he seemed to interrupt two people who were using the library for . . . a different kind of research. Hoping that the third isle would prove useful, he started down it. It was not till he was almost upon them that he recognized one of the two people that were already occupying the space. Seeking a reprieve from his currently fruitless cause he decide to be social for a few moments. "Well greetings." he greeted the two with a smile, giving a tip of his hat to the female, and holding his gloved hand out to the 'Taur. "Imagine stumbling upon you here, Elias. Hope I am not interrupting anything. How have you been?"

Kel flushed again at El's insistence that she answered and wished she actually had one for him. As always, she was deeply struck by just how strongly and how deeply the man seemed to feel about these things. If only she had something that she felt that way about! But she was just drifting and lost.
Fortunately-- or not-- they were interrupted before Elias could truly insist that the woman answered. A sense of panic briefly flared up in the skunk as she recognized the man who she'd seen in the papers and whom she knew to be The Queen of Clubs. The Sorgaire Range woman rose hastily to drop a rather clumsy curtsey for the Morganberry mouse. She would have stammered out a greeting, but his attention was obviously focused on the other Club and she really wasn't certain what she would say to this man she did not know.

Elias missed the rise in tension in Kelasia because he himself was momentarily stunned speechless. He rose to give as courtly a bow as his form would allow. “Greetings, Your Majesty Aderlass. You’re not interrupting anything at all. I was just trying to convince King Kelasia here to help champion to the Court of Diamonds the case for our idea to further cooperate in the Courts. As I’ve said often, your time, and the time of all The Queens, is far too valuable to settle every petty dispute that arises, and to personally investigate and adjudicate every crime that occurs. I hope later to share some more ideas with you, Queen Aderlass, and discuss some other business.” Aderlass was of course most likely the closest conspirator to Rai and El, and knew much of what they would like to do with the power they were accumulating. Elias wasn’t sure, however, if word had made it to the Court of Clubs that Elias was looking for a position there. “As a matter of fact, Your Majesty, I was wondering if you would object to a meeting sometime in the near future? I would like to attempt to win your favor and join your Court.” He wondered if the change in how he spoke when addressing Aderlass was too striking? He wouldn’t speak thus if he didn’t so respect his Queen, but utmost respect was of even MORE importance around other Suits. Always the games, but they pot was worth the game.

The mouse was a little shocked at the 'Taur's change in attitude, though after the male introduced his companion he supposed it was to be expected. He quickly desired to get over the Courtly politeness. It was his day out in the Capital and he planed to spend it with no more then casual conversation, all willing.
"It would bring me great pleasure to see you around the Club Court, Elias. Please, do feel free to make your presence know at any time." He owed a great deal to this man, depts which he could only hope to repay one day if the 'Taur had need of them, and while he had not fully been aware that the male was interested in becoming part of the Club Court the news pleased him greatly.
"It is a pleasure to meet you, Your Highness" He smiled at the skunk, bowing to the appropriate degree in greeting. "I hope that everything finds you well these days?"
It was indeed one of his goals to make more of a connection with the Diamond Court. He head learned a lot about their current Queen, both from his sons and through various obvious means. The fact that Elias was working on the same goal had him very pleased indeed.

Kel was inordinately pleased to hear that El was attempting to join the Court of Clubs. He just seemed too good a planner to waste in a Court that was not his. Not that she actually had anything against the Court of Hearts; she really didn't think a great deal about the other Courts unless she was told to. She did not, however, enjoy being around Queen Shinrai.
She started slightly when the Queen of Clubs began speaking to her again and she flushed red and curtsyed deeply again. "Oh, ah. . . I'm, uhm, pleased to meet you, of course, your Majesty. I'm. . . well, things are. . . everything's okay. I hope. . . things are well with you?"
She was incredibly flustered now and tried to find her Diamond charm to help keep her from some sort of horrible faux pas that would cause a terrible inter-Court war.

Elias took stock of the situation, especially noting how stressed Kelasia had become. “With your permission, of course, Your Majesty, I might suggest we slip to a more informal. . .ah, conversational mode? Still respectful, of course, but maybe a little less formal so that we don’t have to worry so much about what we say?” Fat chance of that happening, but maybe the tension level would fall a little. What was there to say, though? Here they ran into THE Queen of Clubs on his free time. What DO you say in that case?
“So, as I said, your Majesty, I’ve been championing the cause for Court cooperation. Next we’re hoping the Diamonds will climb on board. I think Queen Shinrai told you that Queen Theofilus is an old business partner, but it isn’t just the Queens we’ll have to sell, it’s everyone, or at least most of the people. But, that’s business, and I’m sure you don’t want to talk business in your off time. Looking for a good book? I can almost guarantee King Kelasia could find it for you. She’s pretty well read.”
