Eilwyn wasn't particularly happy with the fact that Zane had kicked him out of the apartment. Even if it was temporary this wasn't what Eilwyn wanted to do. After a bit of arguing and bursting into tears once or twice, they had decided that Eilwyn could take a walk to the park. Being blind would have been a great challenge if he hadn't gotten used to it by now. He still bumped into things now and again, but he had gotten better. The walk to the park was familiar to him as well. He knew all the sounds, smells, and feelings that were supposed to be on his way there. Everything was going splendid. He just had to avoid all the people. That was something he wasn't sure he could do completely. Someone was bound to try and stop him if he liked it or not. If it wasn't about his eyes they would try to sell him something. He just didn't trust that many people. He probably would have been able get away without talking to people if he hadn't tripped. Eilwyn stumbled forward and caught himself before falling. However, people noticed. Someone made a discontented sound as well. The eagle rose with a blush under his feathers. "Sorry," he muttered as he brushed himself off.

The small black with stripes of teal mouse giggled as she played with her marble. She always enjoyed causing them to form different shapes at her will. She was technically supposed to be with her aunt Mnem, learning about plants and their properties, something she greatly enjoyed, but with all the other sisters and brothers there she had felt too crowded. Having sought sanctuary she had found herself in the Park – she loved the open outdoors the grass, plants, and trees surrounding her. Well it had a sanctuary until she was stumbled upon – literally. Giving a sound of protest, Elyse grabbed her head with both hands, wincing at the pain caused from the knee connecting with her skull. “Ow. Would you . . .” She stopped in mid-sentence when her eyes landed upon the person who was now ruffling his feathers back into order from his stumble. “I am sorry. Are you okay?”

Crap. That voice was coming from pretty low. And had he hit someone with his knee? Apparently so. Eilwyn would have honestly cursed if he didn't expect whoever he ran into to be a child. Who else was that short?
"I-I'm really sorry! I didn't mean to trip over you," Eilwyn said as he looked in the direction of the voice. He was pretty accurate now, but his sightless eyes didn't linger. He turned his his head back to fix a few more of his ruffled feathers.
"Er... are you all right... Miss....?" Eilwyn asked quietly. He didn't want to sound like an idiot, but he just had to assume the gender. It sounded like a little girl, but kids sometimes didn't sound the proper gender. The eagle closed his eyes and sighed. "I really do apologize. I should have been more careful."

“Oh! I am quite alright. You don’t have to worry yourself about that. The pain is gone now, so I am perfectly alright.” She smiled up at him. “The name is Elyse D'Allesio. It is nice to meet you, Mr. Eagle. I hope you did not hurt yourself.”
As she watched the eagle closely she noticed that something was not right with his eyes. They did not seem to inhabit him any . . . she wondered what was wrong and wondered if her Pa would smack her for asking. Deciding that since Pa was not here, and she hoped that he did not learn that she had run off by herself, it would be okay to ask the bird, especially if she was polite.
“I sincerely hope you do not mind my asking, sir, but wot is wrong with your eyes?” She kept her tone polite though her innocent curiosity could still be heard.

Mr. Eagle? That certainly made him feel old. Funny how he was only eighteen and he already felt old. How very fantastic. "My name's Eliwyn," he provided as he looked in the direction of the girl's voice. Hopefully he would be able to look directly at Miss Elyse D'Allesio. He didn't want to cause any discomfort for anyone.
Oh well, she asked him right off the bat didn't she? At least he didn't have to pretend now. Though he wished he could sometimes. He knew what people sometimes said to him, and he could only imagine the looks on their faces. "I'm blind, Miss Elyse. I lost my sight when I was about fifteen." He shrugged. Three years without sight gave him enough time to compensate, and he had been losing it since he was four. It still made him sad to say the least.
Since she was a child he could only imagine her reactio, and he actually couldn't think of how he would have reacted if someone told him they were blind. He grew up with Asha after all. It was just normal to him, but not everyone else.

She tilted her head as she digested what he had just told her. Blind? Well that was just an odd word.
“So your being blind means you can’t see? Then how do you get about, Eliwyn?” She tilted her head in curiosity. She had never met someone who was blind; honestly she had not even known that someone could lose their sight. Well other then from them closing their eyes - but his eyes were not closed.
Giving into impulse she waved one of her hands in front of his gaze, testing to see if what he said was true – that he could not see her. When he did not so much as blink she tilted her head again. It did not bother her that he was not looking at her when he spoke.
“Maybe you should sit down,” she patted the grass next to her invitingly. “I surely would not like it if you fell again. She said in an innocent tone meaning no insult of any kind. Eliwyn, as he had introduced himself, seemed kind enough and she was interested in learning more about this blind business. “I could even make you something, if you liked.” She added trying to appeal to him join her on the grass.

Was she younger than he thought or just sheltered? Either way Eilwyn wasn't about to refuse a seat, he didn't feel like tripping over someone again. It was better if he tripped over something. The eagle made a slight chirp as he sat besides Elyse. It was a common event for him to sit on his tail as he had just done. Bother.
"Yes, I can't see. I just use my other senses to lead the way. Sometimes I have a bander with me that helps, and sometimes I use a cane. I think it's easier if I just memorize routes and hear my way around. You caught me off guard though. I didn't hear you at all," He looked over to her, or where he assumed she was.
He couldn't even guess what animal she was. He had always heard his brothers and sisters walking because of their heavy footfalls or the ruffling of their feathers or fur. Even if the sounds were subtle he could pick up on them. However, Elyse had soft foot falls that were covered up by the city noises.
"I can't imagine you could make anything that could fix my problem, thank you for the offer though," He said with a smile. Many people had tried to help him, but no one could.

When Eliwyn sat on his tail Elyse tried her hardest to not giggle. Having a longer tail then average she was also aware of how uncomfortable such a situation was. “Your other sense? That is just cool! Why do you not have your bander or cane with you now?” Walking around by memorization did not sound easy at all.
The small mouse did catch herself giggling at the eagle, not in any mean way however, she was just greatly amused by the creature when he thought that she could create something to help him with his situation. She was not that talented, yet.
“Well the point of the gift would be that it would make you feel better, silly. Here I will show you.” She stated the last part matter-of-factly, taking charge of the situation.
“Wot animal do you like the mostiest most in the world?” She inquired, laying the different pieces of marble she had out in front of her. She picked one that was mostly gray with black veins. It was one of her most favorite pieces. Picking it up she waited for his answer.

At least she was happy? Eilwyn wasn't sure if she was giggling at him or what? He wasn't particularly threatened by it either. She was a child after all, it's not like she was pointing and laughing and throwing things. Then he would feel threatened.
"I left the house in a hurry. That and my brother kicked me out so he could clean. I didn't have time to grab anything... and I don't want to be a target." He coughed. No discussing that.
Feeling better because of a gift? Well, he supposed that was one way of looking at gifts. Now... what did animals have to do with that? "I like... sparrows I guess." Just because they sang, and reminded him of all of his family. After all, they were all sparrows too. A little pretty song bird didn't describe his siblings or family well, but he liked them anyway.
However, what was this little girl planing to explain to him?
