Shinrai glanced with interest at the Shepherd’s reaction to Theo’s entrance; the canine seemed very interested in his employer. Was the human form truly that new or was it something more? The stallion was preparing to reply to the sparrow’s polite greeting, when everything slid back into chaos. His ears went back in amusement; surely the business wasn’t usually this crazy.
The stallion’s view was blocked by the other creatures, but it wasn’t as though he had any reason to really care about whoever had just passed out, if Theo’s request for smelling salts meant anything. He shifted his weight to prop his right hind leg up and waited for everything to get sorted out.
The skunk was out for just a short time, really, but she certainly couldn’t answer any questions until she regained consciousness. As the scent broke into her consciousness, Kel gave a low cough and fluttered back into real life. She gasped again as she opened her eyes to Theofilus’ handsome face. She shrunk back slightly from him, managing, instead, to burrow slightly into the man’s lap. However, it didn’t immediately sink in where exactly her head was as she stared up at his beautiful features with wide, pale slate eyes. ”Theofilus…” her voice was breathy despite herself. ”You….you look wonderful.” She couldn’t come up with anything better; she was still nearly speechless at the sight of him.

(( OOC: I'm trying. I honestly am. ))
Rocky watched quietly from his corner. Everything seemed in control, so there was no reason to step in. The girl seemed to be something special. That was every reason to sit and be silent. He had no authority to bother either of them.
---
Theofilus smiled down at her. "Not as wonderful as you," he said as he brushed a bit of her mane out of her face. Theofilus felt lucky to have so many people he could care about. The sparrow let out a small sigh. Now wasn't the time for personal moments was it? There were people waiting for their business to be taken care of and Theofilus had to be the responsible business man he was.
"Would you like some help up? Then we can discuss the current customers accounts. And later tonight I can explain things." He looked down at her and waited for a response. He had many questions to ask and things to say to her about the trip he had taken. He was not what he wanted to tell her, but he didn’t have much of a choice. All the while he continued to look into her eyes. He hoped this would all work out.

Kelasia bit her lower lip in another moment of breathlessness; she was uncertain if it was excitement or trepidation that wound through her now. She gave a small nod, agreeing to help and the plan for the day and evening. There was something in his beautiful eyes, something sad, something hurting. It pained her heart to see wotever it was there. A hand reached up and touched his smooth cheek. ”Everything will be alright,” she said softly to that expression in his eyes. She would give anything to help him. With that, she carefully got up, flushing when she realized she’d been in the man’s lap. She looked away as she carefully rose, brushing needlessly at her fur.
Shinrai flicked his tail, glad that whoever it was back there was unhurt, but ready to be able to conclude his business here. It sounded as though they were finishing up, however, so he simply shifted his weight and waited.

Theofilus smiled weakly. Everything would be all right. Eventually it would. It just didn't feel like that right now. The experience was over with, but the things that happen still seemed to linger. Setting his eyes on a Lowlander was next to impossible. He snapped back to reality and turned to the task at hand. He readjusted his suit and looked over in Shinrai's direction. "So, Mr. Shinrai, what can we do for you today?" "He plans on shipping some books to the marshes," Rogers replied. "I see then. That's a clean and cut order. Rogers has the forms with him, all you'll need to do is initial at the bottom. We can discuss the proper payments after we've finished the paper work. If you have any special requests or complaints please just mention them." He looked to Rocky, "And you, sir?" "I need something shipped to Corvistowne. I need it picked up at the store in the Capital City if that's all right?" the raccoon said while grinning. "Well then, I suppose Kelasia can help you with that order, and Rogers can help Mister Shinrai with his orders. Are their any objects from our loyal customers?" He asked brushing off his hat. Rocky shook his head, and then glanced at the equine.

(( Gads, i've just been waiting to write this. xD; ))
”Of course not,” Shinrai began, more than willing to be an easy-going client. There was no reason not to be, after all— The stallion froze as a white-speckled, slate blue skunk stepped from the back room, pale eyes skimming the room before freezing on the green horse with wary apprehension. A lifetime of old hate and rage boiled to the surface in a swift-flowing torrent, bypassing his years of training and thought. The stallion gave a squeal of rage, primal in its intensity, and he lashed out with his mind as hard as he could towards the guilty creature.
Kelasai wasn’t entirely certain wot had happened; the new customer frightened her and she fought the urge to hide behind Theofilus when the pain struck her, like a branding iron to hindquarters. She gave a low, soft cry as the unexpected pain caused her legs to collapse and she went to the floor in a heap for the second time that day. It wasn’t intolerable; perhaps their only slight rank differences helped her resist it to a degree. But she really had no idea –why- she was being attacked.
It was evident to the onlookers that the horse wasn’t in his right mind any longer and equally obvious wot had set off the sudden and completely surprising fury. If unchecked, the stallion would trample the woman whilst down.

The raccoon jumped at the sudden fall of the skunk. He frantically looked from the horse and back. Why would he do something so horrible to a complete stranger? Or was she not a stranger? Rocco made no move to comfort the skunk or the calm the equine down. The sparrow and the German Shepard had already moved towards the two cards. What had Rocky gotten himself into?
Theofilus heart skipped a beat as he watched Kelasia fall to the ground. The stallion had done this to her? Why? What had this innocent sweet girl done to deserve such treatment. The man reached down deep into his magic. He was now a king, and he should have the ability somewhere.
There. Rather than rushing to Kelasia's side he walked over to the horse and tapped his cane on the floor. His calming aura should be enough to prevent the horse from going any further with his callous treatment of his loved one. "Shinrai. I won't tolerate this behavior in my place of business. I highly doubt my secretary and accountant has done anything to you. I think it would be in your interest to get your business done and over with, and leave as soon as possible."
The sparrow prayed it would work. He still hadn't quite mastered it in the few weeks of Kinghood. It would at least calm the horse down a bit. Please, let Kel be all right.
Rogers had already frantically run to the skunk's side. Something however seemed to wash over him knelt besides her. What...? I didn't quite matter. Theofilus was handling the situation. Everything would turn out right to some extent.

Rai’s nostrils were still flared wide, but suddenly his all-encompassing rage and hatred washed away and he was left blinking in surprise. After a moment of hazy thought his grey-green eyes went to the sparrow. The deep pool of anger and hurt were gone, but he still remembered the reasons and he shook his head negatively to the bird. ”She left him to die. She left us both to die.” The hate that would normally accompany the words was gone and he simply stated them clearly and without rancor. His gaze was frank and open, as he continued in the same clear and even tones. ”I swore I would get revenge.”
With the calming aura encompassing the stallion, his concentration on making the skunk hurt dissipated as well and Kelasia gave a small, shaky sigh of relief. She nearly clung to Rogers, even though her own panic was far, far removed as well. She did not, however, rise; she didn’t want to chance setting the horse off again with the sheer sight of her presence.

Theofilus looked to Kel and back to the stallion. He highly doubted that she would leave someone to die. There had to be something else to the story, but he was not exactly sure he wanted to know the whole truth between "true neutrality" of the Range. He definitely did not want to pry into such personal business in front of so many people.
"Revenge? Now is not the time for revenge. A businessman such as yourself should think things through before acting in such a manner. If you continue to bother Kelasia, I will throw you out. You won't be allowed to use my shipping firm ever again." He smiled down at the equine graciously. He damn well better get the message.
The sparrow walked over to Kelasia and knelt back down besides her. "Please just wait in the backroom. I suppose Rogers and I will take care of everything here." He felt guilty as he spoke those words. It was for her safety though.
The raccoon continued to stay in his corner. He saw no reason at all to say a word. He studied the equine. It seemed like he wasn't the only one who had a horrible secret. Everyone in this room had something to hide. Rocky would have been curious if he could muster such an emotion that wasn't simply idle.

Kelasia stared up at the man with the vestiges of unease in her gaze, but she nodded, instinctively giving him her hand to help her up. She retreated from the main office with only a single glance over her shoulder to check her employer’s expression one final time. Encouraged by wot she saw, she disappeared out of sight, closing the door softly behind her.
Shinrai shook his head with a hint of regret, which he had no reason to hide. ”I would hate losing access to such a wonderful business, and would deeply regret losing the potential for friendship with you,” the green creature said quietly. ”But this was the death of my brother; a mere colt. Their vaunted neutrality could never justify the torture and slaughter of a child. Can you condone such a thing, Theofilus?” Despite the forced calm of the aura, the terrible, ravaging pain was still obvious in the depths of the stallion’s eyes.

(( OOC: >_> Sadly this will be the only post I'm making today. I am sitting out in the hallway because I can't get internet anywhere. My Theofilus muse has been kicking me in the head all day. *bows* Sorry I can't reply... it's not my fault.))
Theofilus closed his eyes. Now that Kel was gone things would be a bit easier to deal with. Even though the information was terrible, it was a bit more manageable than a fight.
"I could never condone the slaughter of a child. Some scars, however, cannot be forced on the innocent. I don't blame my brother's death on everyone who lives in the Lakes. Condemning them solves nothing. Today, however, opinions aren't why we're here, Shinrai." Theofilus choked back a sigh. The loss of a brother was difficult indeed. He didn't care to recall that nightmare when he was already so depressed.
"If you would like to discus things, you're more than welcome to talk to me whenever I'm free." The sparrow took off his hat and set it on the counter. "For now do you want to solve your shipping needs?"
Rocco was in awe of the amazing sway of the businessman. He diffused the situation and was back on track. Well, Rocco should get to know the sparrow a bit better. He may be more interesting than a winged experiment.
