(( Poor Karidear!!! Freakn' Comcast... >/ ))
The bird evidently wanted to push on from the difficult topic and despite the stallion’s desire to make the bird see reason (it wasn’t the entire Range that had let Shin die, though it was their ‘neutrality’ that had allowed such a thing, but very specifically a skunk of that area: how many skunks could there be running around that cursed area?), he bowed to the use of business as a buffer zone. It pained the horse that Theofilus had also lost his brother, though Rai doubted it was a twin.
”I think we have a great deal we could discuss,” Shinrai said instead of relaying any of his current, hurting thoughts. ”You will have my address here as well; feel free to come by anytime.” He let his attention return to the shipping of his books as well, a distant part of his mind suddenly recalling that they had an audience of two. He quietly turned his voice back to their business at hand.

"I feel like I'm prying in everyone's grief. I apologize for being here at such a critical and depressing time," said the raccoon from his corner. He walked up to the counter and looked at Rogers, who had slowly returned to his place. "I suppose I should get everything out of the way as soon as possible."
Theofilus held back his sign of relief. He walked over to the counter and was handed the proper account papers for Shinrai's orders. He wanted to ship a set of books to the marsh. He shifted through the account papers. The last order that Shinrai had placed was a good four or five months ago. "Would you like a rush order on the shipment or would your prefer regular methods?"
Business was sometimes the greatest escape. He simply had to be formal to all of his costumers and detach from his emotions. His thoughts lingered on what had occurred in the shop a few moments ago. Perhaps when he was feeling better he could have some tea with the equine and understand what was going on. How could Kel upset him so? "Next week sometime, would you be willing to have tea with me?" he said suddenly without realizing it.
Not that this was a horrible mistake. The horse could say yes or no, and it would all be water over the bridge. He was simply annoyed at himself for asking so suddenly. He needed to tell Calia, Kel, and Rogers the whole situation. Calia already knew some of it... but he never explained it in full. He didn't want to worry everyone. That plan backfired rather nicely.

The stallion didn’t seem to mind the audience, a rather odd occurrence with his usual paranoia about potential blackmail and stalkers. Rogers was a non-concern, however; the dog seemed dedicated to this office and his employer. Rocky might have been an issue except that he seemed too flighty to be able to plan anything elaborate enough to trap the stallion. No, the horse was not concerned with their current audience. His hate, for now, was reserved the for the skunk, thankfully out of sight.
”The regular way is fine, thank you,” his voice was muted, still under the thrall of the King ability. As they slowly worked out the details, Theofilus’ offer came as a great relief. Shinrai genuinely liked the bird, and he really didn’t think it was just the Diamond charm.
”I would be honoured,” the Josiggy Marsh stallion answered with a stately bob of his head. ”Whenever is convenient for you, I would gladly make time for such a meeting.”

Thank goodness the equine made things simple. "Well, then. Your shipment will be shipped as soon as we send a man out to gather your delivery. We'll send you conformation that it's arrived at it's proper destination." The sparrow smiled an actual smile. It was amazing when things went well. He offered the horse a pen and the paper to sign on the dotted line. Regular business gone smoothly.
As for the tea, well that was easy enough. "Then I suppose the middle of the week at your place wouldn't be that difficult to manage. Am I wrong?" He said with a tilt of his head. Yes well. Convincing people under these conditions was not that difficult, but he knew it could not last for long. Shinrai would still hate Kelasia when everything was said and done.
Rocky grinned at the completion of his paper work. He really had no time to stick around. He should be running. "I'll be off everyone! Thank you for taking care of things so quickly." With a hop and a skip he was already out the door. Bouncy little thing he was.

The stallion signed his name carefully on the paper before giving a nod to Theofilus’ words. He had no worries that the books would make it safely out to his home in the Marsh. He was not concerned about that part at all. No, he just wanted things to work out. And, of course, for the Lowlands and Sorgaire Range to both bow to the might of Josiggy Marsh. But that was neither here nor there. He sent a slight inclination of his head as a bye to Rocky before letting his attention focus back on the sparrow.
”Not in the least,” the horse answered to the tea plans. He collected his receipt, but there seemed to be little else for him here now. ”I look forward to our meeting next week.” He bowed to the two men present and headed for the door. Without either’s interference, he would simply go about his day yet again.
Kelasia sat at the desk in her backroom, fingering her pencil and staring into space. She –should- be working on the accounts, but all she could see was the stallion’s rage-filled face. There was a certain detachment to the terror she’d felt, even now, but she couldn’t seem to make herself work. Very strange.

Theofilus nodded a simple good-bye as the equine left. It was a talk over troubling things while having tea then. A date that he would look forward to to some extent. At least it would give him a break from all the gossip and angst throughout the courts.
He focused his attention back to his original task. Rogers was looking, simply waiting for a response. The sparrow had a lot to explain. Theofilus shifted to his biped form (much to the canine's dismay) and walked into the back room.
"I'm sorry," were the first words to escape from his beak. "Are you all right? I didn't know what else to do so I used my new King ability to calm down the situation. You're not hurt are you?" He calmed down a bit while he looked at the skunk. She had worked so hard for her biped form, and this incident had taken away all of the attention in an instant.
"You look fantastic," he said suddenly. "I don't think I can say it enough. It's quite a surprise... and what's that marking on your leg?" He blinked. How had he missed that?

Kel turned as Theofilus stepped into the room, her eyes lit up at the sight of him though she really rather wished he’d stuck to human form. He was so very good-looking; perhaps it was just as well. She was less likely to freeze up with his bipedal form rather than human. She tilted her head at his apology, expression becoming concerned at his words. ”I’m fine,” she interjected softly. ”I just ache a little, but it doesn’t even really hurt anymore.” Not entirely true, but good enough.
She blushed at his compliments, shaking her head lightly while inwardly she thrilled at his praise. Well, right up until he mentioned the marking on her leg and then her flush deepened and she instinctively put a hand down to cover the pawprints. ”It’s.. uhh, it’s nothing, really.” she said quietly, eyes on the floor. ”I had a run-in with this guy, and… well.. it doesn’t hurt anymore.” She was deeply embarrassed by them, really, as unexpected as the ‘attack’ had been.

Theofilus' eye twitched. Kelasia had this horrible habit of downplaying things that went horrible, even without his ability. He let out a brief sigh before shaking his head. "Kel. If you're ever in any sort of trouble, please call me. I don't want to see you hurt in anyway." He felt a heartache well up. All he wanted to do was protect the people he cared about, and he couldn't even do something a simple as that.
"But... I came here to tell you something very important." He paused and looked at her. He felt Rogers slip in besides him and take a seat besides the door. Good, he had taken care of the open sign. This would go smoothly without interruptions. "Do you know about my trip to the Lowlands recently?" It still hurt to say those words. He wished he had never gone through that mess, but he had. And there was no other choice but to explain some of the things that were going to change around her. Theofilus waited for a response as he gathered his thoughts.
Why was this so difficult?

Kelasia nodded to the floor, eyes flickering up to Theofilus to catch a hint of his anguish beneath his expression. ”It wasn’t like that….” she tried to protest lightly. ”I barely even met him…” This was soft and nearly inaudible as she couldn’t think of how to explain the odd circumstances of her branding. It wasn’t a matter of protection, it was a completely random act.
Her ears flicked backwards at both Rogers and Theofilus’ serious expressions and she knew she wasn’t going to like wot she learned today. She tried to hide her own concern, but her pale, slate blue eyes gave full exposure to her inner anxiety. ”I know that you went on it by behest of the Queen of Hearts,” she admitted softly, unable to hide a slight shiver of fear at her mention of the infamous Serafino. It still rather amazed her that Theofilus had met the frightening person; she wasn’t certain she would have had the courage to do the same.

Theofilus closed his eyes. Yes, he had done the quest for The Queen of Hearts. He still was not sure if this was a good or bad thing. He just knew the results of his trip. "Yes. I feel now that it's safe to tell you what I had to do on the quest." He paused. He was still hesitating to speak the truth. He was not sure if he could actually tell her the tale.
"I was sent to find a traitor to the Court of Hearts in the Lowlands." The sparrow almost choked on his words. He continued to explain the situation removing most of his emotions. "I think you know by now that I came home that day when you went out for groceries. With me I had a little boy... you see his mother was the traitor."
He wasn't sure how the words were forming. He just knew they were actually coming out of his beak. "I just really need your help. You and Calia and everyone. I need your help." Holding himself together was getting more difficult with each word. "Do you actually want to know all the things that happened? I'm not sure what I should tell you and what I shouldn't so you can understand why I received kingship for the quest."
