"Ah-no, don't feel like ya need to apologize. I probably dote on dese things too much anyhow. It really doesn't bother me as much as I let off."
Then, she just about jumped out of her seat. "Oh! The fish!" She quickly went to check on it, making sure it wasn't getting burned before turning it over so the other side could cook. "It just seems like it's so difficult to keep up with people I know nowadays. New jobs.. new families. Midori just seems to be standing still in time. As it should, I s'pose. Perhaps I should just get out more."
Coming back to the table, she refilled both their glasses of fuit juice before sitting down again. She paused for a moment, as if considering something. "Let me know if I'm being intrusive... but there aren't a lot of Tulgeys outside of the Wood, are there? To this day, I think you're the only one I've met.

He blushed slightly, the crimson showing through his feathers. All right, he won't apologize next time. Of course his embarrassment was cut rather short as he watched the woman make a mad dash for the fish. Which smelt just wonderful. This was going to be a wonderful dinner.
"Sometimes staying still is a good thing, I suppose. It can get difficult when things just keep going without a break." He picked up the glass and took a small sip of the fruit juice.
He raised an eyebrow at the next question. That was more than a little unexpected. He supposed he couldn't really blame her for asking if he was the only Tulgey she had met. Frankly he had only seen one or two of his own region in passing at the Capital.
"Time doesn't pass the same way in the Wood. A war that happened 200 years ago still has the blood of some Tulgeys boiling. Not many are willing to leave the Wood for one reason or another." The swan sighed as he ran a finger along his glass. "It's not all that intrusive. I think you're the only person who has ever bothered to ask a question like that. Thank you."

"I suppose the Beach was too high out of its mind to care much about war." Zuberi remarked drolly, the rolling of her eyes not really discernible from the motion of the eyes themselves but rather her expression. "I suppose we're the opposite here; we honestly don't remember." Well, it was true. She'd never heard of this war.
"In all seriousness... I was schooled by my father, but History was not a strong point that I learned. Is this war.. common knowledge. I t'ink I need to get me some history books and start to catch up. I've certainly been feeling at a loss around people of... " She gestured helplessly to her rank. "To put it bluntly.. I don't fit in with those of similar rank."

He raised an eyebrow. She didn't know about the war at all? That was a bit of a surprise. He figured it was mostly common knowledge, but then again not everyone was from Tulgey and went to Esterberry for schooling. The swan was sure that there were plenty of people who knew nothing of the wars that took place in history.
"Common knowledge for Tulgey's and know-it-alls of Esterberry. Not everyone knows about the wars that took place throughout history. It's wishful thinking on my part. I like to think people hate me because of the past rather than because I radiate an aura of weird." Rosewood gave a small shrug. "I'm sure you could find plenty of nobles who had no idea what you were talking about. They like to pretend they know everything sometimes. As a therapist I've had plenty of nobles think they could lie to me without me noticing their lack of knowledge."
He rolled his eyes. Nobles were just a big bag of trouble half the time. "I think it would be better not to fit in with the crowd."

An aura of weird? She blinked for a moment as she tried to recall any 'weird' she ever felt from him. Well, there was the fact that he seemed unbelievably trustworthy. She'd never equated that to a magical aura though. Still... even if that was magic.. the man had been in her house and treated herself, her family, and her things with nothing but respect.
Leaning forward, she did not notice the slight slipping of the material of her dress, exposing the cleavage of her increasing bust size. Her arms neatly framed the sight as she lay her chin upon the back of her hands. She wanted to ask more of his... 'aura', but his mention of the nobles piqued her curiosity.
"Ya think it makes ya jaded.. ya know. About people in general? I'd imagine you could hardly look at anoder person without analyzing dem.

It was hard, even for the gay man, to not notice the ample amount of cleavage. Really, it was confusing all things considered that he was having feelings. He had never been attracted to women, so this was like something from left field. Was it magic? Was it something else entirely?
Either way the man swallowed as he tried to regain his composure. It was difficult in so many ways. Just like keeping his composure with Rogers sometimes. If he was good it would pay off. Right.
"I suppose it does. I've gotten better about it recently. Rogers helped quite a bit with that." His eyes were locked on her face, though he could feel the blush at the thought of her cleavage. Really? Why was this so bloody awkward? "But not all nobles lie. Some of them are actually rather open to telling the truth. Some of them... are starved for real attention."

"I can imagine! Not really sure if I can blame dem... having to put everything aside to be politically correct and all dat nonsense. Isn't it just horrible, how they have to put up some... false face. I have a few friends in the Courts and I can tell you that they are a different person when they are working. Dat's why I've avoided he Courts so long, you know. People lose themselves behind those walls." She said most wistfully, oblivious to his discomfort as she considered the things on her mind. She was glad that the Courts hadn't swept Seth up the way it had done so to his wife and children.. but that didn't mean she was any closer to him with that hold that the Heart noble had on him. Then again.... it had been that way for years; it would never change.
Coming back from her thoughts, she gave a soft smile and leaned back in her seat, readjusting her top slightly. She'd felt the thing slip just a bit, but hadn't really thought the action bothered the man. After all, she remembered the man being gay and hadn't given a single thought about her own aura potentially affecting him.
"You mentioned an aura of weird. Is that a Tulgey trait? Honestly I'd never noticed one off of you... Aside from the fact that you are quite charming and sincere." She cracked a small grin at that. "Or should I have been suspicious about that from the beginning? After all, you are no diamond."

What she said was quite true as the man continued to focus on her face more than anything else. The Courts really were an awful establishment when it came to people telling the truth about themselves to themselves. Sometimes the persona became blurred, and there were quite a few complications when that happened.
Of course she changed the subject and fixed her blouse before he could say anything else. The swan was still a bit tense as she spoke. Right, considering his little special ability had to do with trust. "I suppose mine is a bit more difficult to notice since it has been a long while since I was in the Woods, but... most residence I've been told, have this eerie feeling about them. They just seem off in some way." He shrugged, "My charm, Miss Zuberi, is all mine. I spent years trying to impress Esterberries, so I needed to learn a few charming tricks and mannerisms so I wasn't hassled."

Zuberi gave a soft chuckle at his comment. It might have seemed a little defensive to her ears, but she conveniently avoided coming to that conclusion and considered it more a testament to male ego in needing to defend his obvious likability. "Now -dat- is the outlook to keep, you charming man, you!" He was such a -pleasant- man, even if he seemed slightly put off by her jibes.
"But... considering it all, I t'ink you were probably my best 'first' Tulgey friend. Well.. still only, really! But I t'ink you get my meaning. You're a good man, but I doubt I have to tell you that." Zuberi said with a touch of almost parental softness to her voice, reaching across the table to give his hand a friendly pat. She couldn't help but feel close to the man; with the trusting aura that he put off, Zuberi felt no need to feel like he was anything less than a close friend... despite the fact that their meetings were not necessarily frequent.

Rosewood was in no way trying to be defensive. He was just used to being treated strangely because he was a Tulgey. It was a fear that ran deep amongst all the regions. They were supposed to be monsters.
He chuckled, "You're quite a wonderful woman yourself, to say such things. I've had quite a few doubts recently, but I have to say I feel a bit better about them now." A blush was forming on his cheeks. At least his feathers covered it up slightly. Of course being so very white it did show through.
"It's nice to know that I have a friend in you. I honestly don't have many friends." In reality he had next to none. He had Rogers, but he was more than a friend-he was a way of life. But most of the time the swan kept to himself rather than going out and making friends... so the number was few and far in between.
