Dilis felt a twinge of jealousy as Xylia spoke of her brother. She did not have any siblings and so she could not really relate that well to her. "I would like to eventually but it might be rude if I did not at the least say hello to your brother." She said.
Xylia seemed very excited that they would be seeing her brother, for a moment Dilis wondered what it would be like to have a sibling. Finally they reached her apartment, as Xylia knocked Dilis actually felt a bit of nervousness; though this always happened when she was about to meet someone new.
As they entered a young man was there smiling at them, she would have been frightened but it seemed that he was friendly and there was nothing to worry about. He rose to greet her and she smiled at him sweetly. "It is very nice to meet you Solo. Your sister was very kind to offer me your couch for the night. I would have been wandering around all night if it were not for her."

Xylia's eagerness to be home was suddenly contrasted quite sharply by her realization that she would be easier to see now as well. Despite the issues being outside at night now seemed to give her, it was sometimes a good deal better than the reactions one gave her from seeing all her odd, quirky little features.
The melanism that had overtaken her was still a great shock to her mind and, for a brief moment, she hovered just within the doorway and stared down at her chest. Her old suit... If only she had a way to change it back! And then Solo was talking and Xylia as being brought back to reality by his cheerful teasing. A small burst of laughter filled with her usual warm laughter bubbled up and she slid out of her satchel, leaving it near the door.
"Solo!"
The doe giggled sweetly and strode forward, giving her brother a playful bump on the shoulder. He towered over her but she had long grown accustomed to his size.
"Solo, this is Dilis. I met her while I was walking just a little bit ago and it appears that she's gotten a bit lost while looking for an Inn. I didn't think you'd mind her staying the night on the couch?"
There was plenty of time for fretting later, for now she would just enjoy her company.

"What? Of course she can stay!" he said in surprise, almost involuntarily glancing outside at the darkness that the two had come through. While it wasn't anything approaching too late at night, it was still dark enough that, if you weren't of a breed that dealt well with the dark - he seemed to have Mom's cat-eyes, though apparently they weren't quite as good as Rindal's or Seki's - then there might be problems seeing. And if one got lost as Dilis apparently had and didn't know their way around, then it was no doubt that she couldn't find an Inn - the Capital City could prove to be surprisingly complicated to navigate through.
"I wouldn't toss anyone back out there without a place to stay. The couch is all yours, Miss Dilis, though I'll warn you that there's at least one spring that can be a little annoying some times. But I'm sure that it won't dare to bother you at all." One would have thought he was a Diamond, for all of the charm he was throwing around. Or maybe that was just hormones - they were fairly similar, and Dilis was quite the pretty feline.

Much better, since they were not outside any longer Dilis noticed she could now actually see Xylia and was glad of it. She had not wanted to say anything but before Xylia had sort of frightened her. She was terribly curious to know how she came to be like that but she was not about to ask either. She liked Xylia and she did not want to do anything that might upset her.
Dilis smiled warmly. "Thank you so much, both of you. Oh no that is perfectly fine, my bed at home gives me trouble sometimes so really I am used to it." Well.. that was not exactly true; Father always took care of things like that but she did not want to make her acquaintances feel bad.
Father always made sure she was comfortable, a testament to his love for her. She stared down at her chest for a moment thinking back to her Jack quest... I wonder if mother really is ashamed...
Shaking her head she came back to reality, dwelling too much was her downfall but it always made her terribly upset as well.

Oh Solo! You flirt!
Xylia couldn't help but giggle at the sight of Solo flirting with the pretty Avington feline. He had his mother's diamond charm too. That was just priceless. For Solo, the sight of Xylia smiling and laughing would've been a refreshing change from her last week or so of pure emotional breakdown. It was a good sign, a sign that she was slowly recovering from her shock.
"You're very welcome, Dilis. Just give me a moment and I'll pull the couch out for you."
Leaving Solo and Dilis to chat it up for a short while, Xylia opened up the fold out couch so that it made a comfortable bed for the feline and then traipsed slightly into the other room. There was a spare set of sheets and pillows in the closet that she could get for Dilis.
This was nice, to have company and to be smiling and laughing again. It was very nice and it gave her hope that things were perhaps not that bad. She was still Not Right but at least people like Dilis were still okay around her.

Solo was still getting used to Xylia's night-dark appearance, but he personally thought that it rather suited her, no matter how horribly upset she had been at first. Or, at the very least, she carried it off well, with a dignity easily befitting her lost Heart suit. But when he saw her in such good cheer, he couldn't help the perk of his ears and the warm, easy smile that the usual grin relaxed into. Yeah, that was a lot better; that was how people were supposed to be, happy and enjoying themselves, not freaking out over horrible things that they don't have any control over.
She hadn't known that the bracers had the potential to alter her like that; she'd gotten the warning, yeah, but she was also a typical Corvie, and whenever there was something as tempting as that, they generally went right ahead and did whatever it was that they weren't supposed to do, just to find out what it was. He had a feeling that, if someone were to put up a big sign by a button that said, "Do not, under any circumstances whatsoever, push this button, because the end of the world will come about," a Corvistowneian would eventually be consumed by their curiosity and push it anyway, just to see how the world ended. He was just glad that he hadn't quite inherited much of that curiosity himself. Or at least, that he was able to keep it under control.
Now we turn our attention away from his rambling inner monologue and back to the real world, where there is a lovely feline who deserves every bit of attention that he can give her.
"Well, if things do get annoying, then tell me and I'll see what I can do to take care of the problem. I'm no mechanical genius like my Mom, but I've got enough skill to figure out how to take care of an errant spring," he offered gallantly, turning the charm back on. "Someone as lovely as you shouldn't be bothered by anything when you choose to rest, especially after any sort of rough day."

"Thank you so much Xylia." She bowed her head at her as she left Dilis and Solo alone. She got the impression that people had been not so kind to Xylia due to her appearance and that made her a bit upset. Xylia had been so nice to her, who cares what she looked like! To make up for others, all she could do was show Xylia not everyone was like that.
My my, this gentleman Solo seemed to be flirting with her. She was not used to that and thus did not know how to respond to it. "Why thank you Solo, that is most kind of you. You are a true gentleman and I value your help and company" She smiled sweetly at him. "So I take it people have been unkind to Miss Xylia? That is really a shame, she is terribly nice." She asked curiously. Though she figured her suspicions were correct.

If there were ever such a button, Xylia was sure, Mephit would push it hard and without question. If not just to see how the end of the world came about but to see if her Theories were correct and, quite possibly, for that brief pleasure where everyone died. Strange woman her sister was, and that was why Xylia stayed very far from her now. You couldn't get two greater opposites.
Luckily, though, no one had yet to create a button capable of unleashing armegeddon and no one had to worry. Yet. When such a button did, one day, come into creation, one could be sure a Corvie would probably be responsible. But that was neither here nor there and what was there was a young black doe that was too curious for her own good and had paid for it.
"Reactions vary, honestly." Murmured Xylia politely as she returned to the room, catching the ending wisps of conversation. "Some are kind, some are not...though it usually depends mostly on whether or not I catch them at night. As you are aware, I am very hard to see at night and that makes a good many people uncomfortable. Or if they knew me before the accident, which usually just gets me more pity than I know what to do with." Solo had luckily not been one of those people that pitied her to death, he'd picked her up and set her back on her hooves and made her live again even if she didn't want to at the time.
She was Thankful with a Capital T.
"During the day, though, I usually just get a good deal of odd looks. No one's seen an all black Corvie before."

"Anything at all to help a pretty lady," he said genially, and if he'd had a hat to tip then, he would have done it. It always amused some small part of him at how much flattery could help people make their way in life. Not blatant out-and-out lies, or even just little white lies, but taking the time and effort to find something truly worthwhile and then draw attention to it outloud. People liked that sort of thing, he'd found, especially when they weren't used to hearing it from most other Cards.
"Bah, I say," Solo snorted to that. "Just tell 'em you were born with black markings, and then laugh when they try to figure out how to tell!" He shook his head then, directing his attention back toward Dilis. "Lots of people think about Realm alone, y'see. I guess with my family we're kind of used to looking around that, considering that only one of us kids is pure-Realm, and Mom's about as much an exception for a Torquehelm as they come. Okay, so Dad's pretty much as Corvie as you get, but that aint a problem. So Xylia fits in just fine with us."
