Once again Xylia's cheeks were on fire, and she dipped her head to stare at her hooves in embarrassment. How was he so good at finding those little things that left her blushing like this? Thank the suits for Solo! His defense was a perfect one and got them all back on track. It also kept Xylia from having to mention the honest fact that she'd yet to even begin thinking of lovers and children.
Eh, she'd always been a bit out of the loop in that regard...
Xylia was slowly getting accustomed to the idea of being a Spade now. It was strange, horribly strange, but it had its perks. Such as soaking Solo when he got on her nerves, or -- as he had just said -- the extra speed boost. The doe wiggled her tail and gave her brother a playfully competitive look. They would have time to worry once they arrived in Torquehelm.
"Alright, alright. Sounds good." She laughed softly and then turned her attention back to Maxwell. Her expression calmed a few degrees and she leaned in to nuzzle the feline. "Don't worry. Once we're back, I'll stop by at Mom's and let you know everything. K?"

"Thanks, sweetling," he said, leaning in to her in thanks. It was so much easier to hide in the cheer and laughter than it was to really deal with what was going on: the fact that one of his sons was missing, and that there didn't seem to be all that much that he could do about it. Finding refuge in the jokes and teasing seemed to make things bearable, even if he was thoroughly scandalizing his son and step-daughter. It was one of his perogatives as a parent, after all.
"Go on, Mom. Talk to Cecilia, and we'll take off as soon as we've got a few supplies packed for the run. You don't mind if we stay at the house in Torque, do you?"[/color] Solo asked, already planning the route out in his head and figuring out the basic supplies they'd need. If they took the main road toward the Court of Hearts they'd be able to cut down their time a bit, and then pass through Avington into Torquehelm. It wouldn't take too long, not with a pair of Spades who could keep their speed up for a good long while. They'd need carb- and calorie-rich foods, though, and plenty of water for the runs. He idly wondered just how good Xylia's staying power would be, if she was spending most of her time in the City doing her studies.
"Of course not. Now, I really do need to be off to see your sister," Maxwell said, and leaned in to give the both of them a loving lick - making sure that Xylia's now-black mane was thoroughly smoothed down - before turning on a hind foot and taking off in the direction of the Torquehelm deer's apartment. "Take care, you two!"
