Xylia laughed warmly at the way Solo ushered them about and mothered her, worrying over her sleep and making sure she got enough to eat. It must have been the Torque in him, because the Corvie in anyone almost seemed to instantly dissuade sleeping and eating.
Ah well, Xylia loved her region --when she wasn't abhorred by it. They could be so...unlawful.
That, however, was neither here nor there for something more interesting than food and law had arrived at the door. Solo's surprise perked Xylia's attention and, after another quick bite, the doe hurried toward the door to see what could have gotten her brother's attention like that.
"Who is it, So--" The doe cut off mid-sentence upon seeing Maxwell beyond the bulk of her brother and she let out a happy cheer. "Oh! Maxwell!" She squeed with pleasure, happy to see her surrogate 'mom'. "What brings you here? We're just having some breakfast, and there's plenty for you too if you'd like some."
Unaware of the trouble brewing in the air, Xylia found herself simply happy to see Maxwell for now. Also, in her excitement, Xylia completely forgot that Maxwell had yet to find out about her change. Oops.

(Dilis doesn't need to know what happened to her cute little friend until he comes back, she's going to slink out and then you two can do the thread with Cecilia dropping off Isolde <3)
Dilis was just getting comfortable at the table with Solo and Xylia when there was a knock. Once Solo answered it, she saw a handsome feline who Solo seemed to recognize. His... mom? Oh my, well there was definitely attractiveness in this family at the least. Feeling a family moment coming on, she felt it necessary to take her leave.
"I am so sorry to interrupt but I really need to be going. Sir, you have wonderful children... you are their father, right? Well any way... thank you so much Solo and Xylia for having me. I hope that in the future I can somehow repay the debt. It was nice to meet you...kind of also, sir." She bowed her head slowly at the newcomer and headed out the door.
She had others to visit and she was still debating going to see her uncle Mala. He was not exactly the comforting type but he was also the only family she had aside from Father.

"Oh! It was no trouble at all, Dilis. Feel free to stop by here again if you ever want to, I know I'd be perfectly happy to see you again," Solo said as the Avington gathered herself and left. He blinked a bit, but there really was nothing he could do to stop her. And besides, it looked like his Mom had something important he needed to talk about.
Maxwell smiled warmly, though the expression was horribly tired, when Solo opened the door to welcome the older feline in. The sight of Xylia was equally welcome, and he was just about to open his mouth and explain the situation when he caught sight of the lovely Avington feline, who greeted him, said her farewells to Solo and Xylia, and then was out the door and past him before he really could say anything.
There was a long pause before he finally gathered himself together.
"...well. Nice guest, I suppose?" He wondered if she'd been there as a date for either his son or his foster-daughter, but that really wasn't his business, nor was it particularly important just then. He shook his head and pulled himself back together, purple eyes looking beseechingly at the pair. "Neither of you would have seen Seki recently, would you?"

Dilis was rather quick to leave and Xylia waved a hesitant goodbye to her as she hurried out. Oh well, that was alright. She would've been perfectly welcome to stay for the remainder of breakfast but Maxwell really did seem as if he had something to say. "It was a pleasure to meet you, Dilis. Take care." She was out the door before Xylia could say much more and, with a half-smile, she turned back to Maxwell.
Her expression fell quickly.
There was something in his face that made her worry a little and quietly she pulled back to allow him to step all the way inside. What...could be going on?
"Seki? No, I'm afraid I haven't." She perked her ears forward slightly, perplexed with his question. The boy wandered a bit, but he was usually close to someone. Hmm... and there was whiffling, sneezing Mocha. She was looking for something, no... Someone. "Is everything alright with him?"
([cough] Also, I imagine this will have been the first time Maxwell has seen Xylia's change. XD [snicker])

"No, he hasn't contacted me about coming to visit or anything," Solo said, shaking his head as well, a frown on his face. Whatever had prompted Mom to ask something like that had to be important, because the feline rarely asked random questions, though considering it was about family, then maybe it wasn't quite as random as it seemed. But he too noticed Mocha, and the bander usually wasn't all that far from his brother, so what was going on?
Maxwell's heart plummetted, his ears drooping downward at the news, and he slowly admitted, "It's just that neither Ophelia nor I can find him anywhere - he wasn't in Torquehelm when I left for Corvistowne, and I thought he'd left Mocha behind, but he wasn't there either. And..." The feline's words suddenly detoured as they hit a rather large an unexpected road bump, namely the fact that his dear little black-and-green step-daughter had either walked under a bucket of paint, decided to take on a new fad and gotten herself tattood, or had in some other way turned entirely black.
"...Xylia, dearest, your stripes seem to have gone walkies." That's right, Maxwell. You're a smart, rational adult with a large vocabulary. Walkies.

"...your stripes seem to have gone walkies."
Now, if that wasn't the weirdest thing Xylia had ever heard than she wasn't entirely sure what was. It was certainly odd enough to stop her concern over Seki dead in its tracks.
"What?" She blinked once, twice, and then looked down at herself with an incredulous look. Well, yeah... They had. Xylia had just never thought of it like that. "I had a bit of a mishap with a magical trinket and it...did strange things to me." The doe fidgeted, trying not to think of the 10 of Spades on her breast, blending away into her black fur. Suits! She hadn't thought about it this morning... "I'm alright, though... Just a little off. No worries."
The doe coughed awkwardly, shuffled her hoof, and forcefully adjusted the subject. "You say Seki's left Mocha behind? That's not like him, those two are peas in a pot..." Mocha was shuffling further into the room, whiffling in displeasure and beginning to make a mess of things searching for her owner. In fact, she'd become increasingly agitated since his disappearance. "You last saw him in Torque? Was he with anyone or just hanging around cause you were there?"
That was a common habit of Seki's. He liked to be near family. Maybe not in the same house or anything, but nearby regardless. Whatever was going on, he was surely with someone.

Solo nearly started laughing at the line - that was his Mom, though usually the feline didn't quite degenerate to "walkies" in situations like this. He must be under quite a good amount of stress to just spit out a line like that, though it seemed to have rather startled Xylia, which was always amusing.
Maxwell couldn't help the cheerful grin at her startled response, but at the line "a bit of a mishap with a magical trinket," that grin disappeared. Magical items going wrong had a tendency to go wrong in...very different ways. The fact that things were only "a little off" was reassuring, though he'd definitely noticed the lack of a bright red mark against that now-black coat, because she'd always cherished her suit before. But if she wanted him to drop it, he was tactful enough to do so, even if she found that, in the future, she required a good hug or three. Then again, she had Solo around, so she'd probably already gotten those hugs.
His expression turned worried again when she mentioned Seki, and he remembered the purpose behind his initial visit. Purple eyes turned to the bandersnatch as she sniffed all over the apartment, obviously finding kin-scents to the smell of her Person, but not actually finding Seki himself.
"Yes, he was last in Torquehelm with me. Well, Rindal was there as well, but I doubt that they were spending all that much time together - you know them," he said softly, sadly. The fact that the two boys had such a harsh relationship with each other was one of the greatest things that he regretted about his children - he'd never been able to help them work things out, and make them better.
"It's okay, Mom," Solo said softly, seeing the feline's trouble. "I've got a run taking me out Torque-way in a couple of days. If you want, I'll head out earlier and see if I can find anything about him out there."

Xylia's cheeks heated beneath her dark fur as Maxwell began to grin. They were both taking a great amount of amusement out of her surprise and if she wasn't so good natured she would've been upset at the 'teasing'. Instead she grinned back, still blushing, and was thankful -- somewhat -- for the conversation to change.
Only that it went back to the fact that Seki had gone missing without his small 'other half'.
"Rindal was there too? Maybe I'll hunt him down and give him a good poke, see what he knows." She'd always taken a small pleasure in roughing around with Rindal... Somewhat. They'd never actually been friends, but they'd both gotten a wallop from one another over various occasions. Seki in particular. "If he's still in Torque then I'll head out with you, Solo -- if that's alright, of course."
She smiled up at Maxwell, her expression as reassuring as she could make it. "It'll be alright, we'll find 'im."

"Would you do that? That would be...thank you, Xylia. I'm about to head off and go visit Cecilia, and see if she's heard from him either. Also, I want to finally meet my little granddaughter that I've heard about..." Maxwell shook his head faintly at that thought. Him with a grandchild. Who knew? He was thrilled, though. Absolutely, utterly thrilled. That thought actually prompted him to grin at the two of them suddenly, but it wasn't entirely the teasing smirk he'd sprouted before - no, this had a touch of an older man who was looking expectantly at his children. "Speaking of grandchildren, any idea of when you two are going to find yourselves a nice partner and make some children of your own?"
"Mom!" Solo's cheeks were probably turning bright red underneath the fur. "Now is not the time to talk about that!" he quickly added, and left aside the fact that there'd been a very pretty Kahmden sparrow that he was fairly sure was related to Calia, the woman he'd met so long ago, that he'd been trying to get up the courage to approach. As he'd said, now really wasn't the time for that.
"Come on, Xylia. Let's play with that speed boost of yours now - I'll show you how to really run, when you've got the road stretching out under your feet and nothing in the way," he said to his half-sister. He wouldn't mind giving Rindal a bit of a wallop himself, though he wasn't going to admit that out loud. Not in front of Mom, at least.
