"Of course I'll always come back," she said rather matter-of-factly though her expression showed just how serious she was about those words. "I chose you first, remember?"
At his continued teasing, however, Dre gave him an annoyed face, sticking out her tongue and make a quick attempt to cross her eyes. If she held that for too long, she'd get dizzy so she gave a low harrumph and plopped down so their chests were pressed tightly together. "Ignatius." Her tone was serious. "I want to know. I like presents. A lot." She didn't feel bad for that, but she knew many people who were embarrassed by wanting to accept presents.
Drostan gave a small sigh, stretching before rising and padding silently out of the kitchen. He wanted to go find the library.

Giving up on the game he could but chuckle to himself. Reaching out he took one of her hands into his, playing and manipulating with it lightly.
"You really want to know what it is that badly?" He asked in pondering, not meeting her eyes but starring at her hand as if it was the most magnificent thing in the world to behold. "How about we go on a trip?" He asked suddenly, seemingly changing the topic. "We could go somewhere nice, get away from all this . . . craziness," He had to pause on the right word for a moment. After all it did take some vocabulary usage to find a word that was remotely accurate enough to describe all the happenings in the Heart Court. If it was not one thing it was most definitely something else.
"We could go away, just the two of us, for a while."

Dre froze for a breath of time, then pushed herself up with sudden speed. Her legs continued to pin his, but she stared into his face deeply, her eyes dancing with excitement and joy. "You already have somewhere chosen," she accused, but there was no reprimand in her voice. "Do we leave today? What do I need to pack?"
The idea of a honeymoon was evidently quite welcome to the Corvie hybrid's bride. She fairly sprung out of the bed to go check her bags. "How long will we be gone? Are we going to stay in the Highlands?" Despite herself, there was a note of longing in her voice. She loved her home region and she was far too often away from the rolling hills.
Drostan paused when he heard voices around the corner, pausing a moment so he could eavesdrop blatantly on what sounded like two of the maidservants.

At her sudden flutter into action he could not help but grin.
"I hope that you are not all that eager." He started, trying to pretend that that conclusion was not the path of thought that he had meant but quickly gave up. "Unless you delays us again, we can certainly leave today. However, the location is a surprise and nothing you say will get an answer out of me."
He gave her an assessing look. "For clothing, what you have on should be fine." Already being in the Highlands the climate was not really going to change all that much from what it currently was.
Shifting himself he half sat up, propping himself on his elbows. He tilted his head to the side watching her curiously. "Feather dance, what would you think of leaving your pet here? Ira has offered to watch after him while we are gone."

Dre gave another trilling laugh of joy as she disappeared again to grab some clothes to pack up. "It is quite difficult to keep my hands off of you," she informed him from within the closet, raising her voice so he could hear her. "But, really, that's your own fault for being so very hot and luscious." Just thinking about this fact made her flush slightly in pleasure. Yes, she really did catch the best one.
Her movements froze suddenly at his request and she wandered back out of the closet a plaid in her hands. Her face showed a blank of incomprehension. "Leave Drostan? Why?"
Drostan paused when he reached the library doors, glancing up at the two guards who stood there. "Good afternoon, gentleman," he said in a quiet voice. "I hope your afternoon has been quiet. I find myself in need of some recreational reading."

At her praise he could feel himself blushing and tried to cover it up with a manly clearing of his throat. He was not about to contradict her praise, they were not in front of anyone else so there was no need to cover up his male pride.
When she came back into the room to look at him with those eyes at his request that she leave Drostan he glanced away with his eyes. Blushing yet more he could only mumble a reply.
"I . . . uh . . . that is . . . You do not have to if you do not want to but . . . I was hoping to have time alone . . . with you." He had never been so clumsy over his words before. Only his Dre could make him have such a horrid reaction to a simple question. If she insisted that her pet come along he was not one to deny her, but still, he wanted this time for just them.

Dre tilted her head in thought and moved to sit down beside Ignatius on the bed, her gaze on the cloth in her hands rather than her husband. She tried to think of how to answer the request even as he offered to retract it. When she finally spoke, her voice was low and her feelings throbbed below the surface of her words.
"My clan is well-known across many regions because we often travelled. We have been far to the north and all the way south, though we usually remain on the west side of the lands. We went to Tulgey Wood one year and there was such a fuss! We weren't even the main event." Her eyes were sad, and she fought to keep her voice from trembling.
The guards stared down at the Ace, entirely unimpressed before one finally announced loudly, "No pets in the library."
Drostan's ears flattened and he glared at the men. "I'm obviously well 'trained'," he sneered. "And it's entirely likely that I'm higher educated than you."

When she was slow to respond he brought his eyes back to watch her. While he was pretty poor at recognizing emotions in himself, not to mention in other people being worse, he could sense that something was . . . off?
Concern for her which only grew as she started her story, he reached out with one paw and placed it on top of one of hers. He was not quite sure what to do. Was it not often said that when someone started a seemingly sad story that the listener should just listen? This was something he had never encountered. In his daily dealings with Se and Ira it was always the situation where either they said or did not say something.
He was definitely feeling like a fish out of water here. Taking a deep breath as if to prepare himself to say something he thought better of it at the last moment. He remained silent while she spoke, not wanting to interrupt her should she need to tell her story, only sending her a silent "And?".

His support caused her to tremble; she didn't remember back then. She had purposefully forced it from her mind and did her best that Drostan never remember it either. Her eyes closed as she pushed on; Ignatius had a right to know.
"There was so much blood. . ." her voice was soft, hesitant. "She kept slashing at him and slashing; he wasn't moving. The rest of them were dead already, but she hadn't made it slow. And everyone just stood and watched her do it, watched her punishing him over and over. 'You deserve this, you curse; you killed them all just by existing!'" The woman shivered as the hate-filled voice screamed through her mind again. "His eyes were so wide, they were filled with tears, and he didn't move, he was so still. . ." It had been a nightmare come to life.
The guards sneered right back at the Ace. "He thinks himself a real scholar, eh? Stupid Aces; too bad the Queen overturned the old proclamation."
Drostan's fur fluffed up in anger, but he knew he needed to keep his mouth shut. "Idiots," he growled under his breath. He turned his back tot hem suddenly and started down the hall. He might not be a real person anymore, but that didn't mean he'd lost his mind. He would just go in the back way.

Iggy was not quite sure what to make of the story that she currently was telling him. He found that he was a little surprised to hear that this was part of the Ace's history, thought it was clear from appearance that it had gotten the scars from somewhere . . . at least he was pretty sure that this was involving the Ace.
Not sure where his feelings lay on the topic he used the hand that was laying on top of hers to pull her against him after he sat up.
Wrapping both arms around her, he allowed her lean against him. It was not so much a hug, but rather it was more of a closer offering of comfort.
"What happened next?" He asked softly, giving her shoulder a gentle squeeze. Though he sensed that she might need a little prodding, he wanted her to take the story - if she was going to tell more - at her own pace.
