Dre was relieved to be able to lean into Ignatius. She felt almost like a little filly-chick again; wanting to huddle beneath her wings in her mother's embrace. The man's arms, however, fit her much better now than her dear mother's could, and she was happy to be with him.
"I got very angry," she admitted with a faint flush on her cheeks. "He was already so helpless and he had done nothing wrong. Ignatius, they hadn't done anything wrong!" She turned to look up at him, as though looking for answers there, whether it be an affirmation of her actions, a rejection of the woman's hatred, or just a sign of what he thought. "It's not like they chose to have an Ace! Drostan couldn't help being born one."
The Tulgey Ace found the secondary door leading into the library and simply snuck in there. The guards could just eat that, for all he cared.

If the story that she was telling him had not been so serious he probably would have chuckled at the image of her being angry could present. He had seen her a few times when she had gotten riled up and was pretty sure that those who ticked her off would definitely regret it.
When she looked at him for a response he could only give a nod of his head in reply. Until he heard what exactly it was that she had done he could not really say anything one way or another. It was likely that he would definitely approve of any actions she had preformed that day.
Giving her shoulder another comforting and possessive squeezed to show his support though he had not said anything one way or the other, he then continued in a soft tone, "What was it that you did about it?"
He had the feeling that Dre was not one of those people to just sit around and do nothing about something she felt strongly on. He was not attracted to those kinds of people, those scums.

"I high-kicked her in the face," Dre answered truthfully. It was a relief that Ignatius agreed with her that the treatment to the Ace and his family was by far too harsh. Ludicrously, even. "She screamed like a banshee, but that witch deserved it." Even now, Dre trembled with rage at the memory. She finally shook her head, however, trying to clear her mind of it enough to finish her story. "He's terribly clever for an Ace, Ignatius," she put in quietly. "But it took him a very long time to recover." She shook her head again, remembering how he'd appeared. "I thought I was too late; he really was that still. Sarai helped me. . ." Her voice took on a wistful tone.
Now that he'd managed to get into the library, he needed to figure out which books he wanted to read. Dre travelled so much, at least, she used to travel so much, that it had become difficult to find things to read, much less keep up with his old studies.

At her revealing of just what she had done Iggy could not help himself to laugh. It came out almost as a bark of laughter and he quickly had to hide his face against her shoulder, muffling his laughter so that silently shook his form instead. Trying to calm himself down he gave into one more quick round of laughter before being able to only pull off a grin.
Keeping his forehead against her shoulder he turned so that he could nuzzle the side of her neck gently for comfort as she continued on.
He was silent as he took in what she had just finished telling him. It took him a few short moments to sort through everything, weighing each part and cataloging the information for storage. It was due to this that it probably took longer than needed for the name to register.
"Sarai?" He asked, his forehead still resting on her shoulder but his eyes glancing up to meet hers.

The first smile in awhile tugged at the edges of her beak at his obvious humour at her actions. She still felt entirely justified in her response to the woman's cruelty and she couldn't stop a new fountain of pride with her husband's obvious approval to her actions. Her head tilted again and she leaned back into his chest, unaware of her expression of both sadness and longing. "Sarai was my youngest sister," she admitted, only now remembering that she hadn't told him her siblings' names. "You should probably know. . . My eldest brother killed my younger brother and sister." She held her body suddenly too still; tense at these memories as well, though they didn't seem to hold the same immediacy as the ones associated to Drostan. "He ate them."
Drostan finally decided to try and review what he had been taught as a child and thus headed towards the teenager section; he might as well start low and work his way back up to avoid frustration.

He was quick this time to catch the tense that she used to explain. She had specifically used past tense.
Feeling that what he was about to be informed of next was high in the chances of being not good news, he tried to keep himself from tensing up, listening to her carefully.
Her brother had killed them? Not only just killed them, which was bad enough on any scale to begin with, but rather he had eaten them?
He could only assume that her eldest brother had received the wonderful markings that graced Ira. At least, that is what he hoped drove him to devour his own family.
"What has become of your eldest brother?" He asked, his voice growing very deep and threatening. If the male was not already dead he was definitely going to wish that he had received such a treatment. Attacking one's own family was not something Iggy allowed to happen lightly.

Dre turned as she caught Ignatius' agitation; he sounded so feral! She was glad that he was on her side, even as it made her want to jump him yet again. It was a nice change to the guilt and sadness she felt over her siblings' deaths. "Well, I have his head in a box on a shelf at my mother's home," she answered him seriously. "I killed him a few month's ago." She was fairly certain she had mentioned this to Elias during that interview, but, even now, thinking too much about the canine sent a trembling thrill of terror shivering along her spine. Perhaps she had simply imagined that. It wouldn't have surprised her in the least for Ignatius to miss that part of the conversation; it was short and El's anger had been quite the force to reckon with.
Drostan found some books on math and chemistry and gentyl pulled them out to begin his review there. He skittered beneath a table to be out of the way and out of immediate sight should someone decide to infringe upon his solitude.

She had killed him? Iggy had to remind himself to breath in order to help calm some of his anger. It would not do anyone any good to just go tearing out of the Palace on the hunt for blood, not when it had already rightfully been claimed.
At her comment he lifted his head up to meet her eyes. "You kept his head?" He asked, his tone a mixture of confusion and awe. He gave a dark chuckle, one that would have given many of the Palace guards the need to back up.
Oh the idea pleased him greatly.
Leaning in he whispered, "I am sorry you had to go through such hardship." He stole a kiss and a hug. "Come now, lazy, we need to pack." With a pat at her backside he got up from the bed.
She could bring along Drostan.

When he repeated her action in a rather questioning tone, Dre had a sudden frisson of fear that he would suddenly reject her. Her need for vengeance, however, after Sevren had eaten her siblings had been so terribly strong; he had to be punished for hurting their mother and Dre would never allow herself to forget that only her initial weakness, the desire to look away and not see the darkness consuming her eldest brother was the reason Akash and Sarai were dead now. No, she would keep that terrible memento as long as long as she had to if only to insure she would never stand by the wayside to allow such an injustice ever again.
The woman rose when Ignatius did, reaching out to pinch his tail playfully. She forced her dark thoughts to slip out of her as though through a sieve. "Oh, look who's talking," she teased right back. "I'm nearly packed already."
Drostan began on the math and worked problems in his head since he currently lacked paper and pen. If they got much harder, he would search for some, but, for now, it didn't matter.

To her teasing he turned his head to face her, giving her a mocked outraged expression. "You shall pay for that later, my feather dance." He replied in a 'serous' face before giving her a smile and a wink.
It did not take long for them to finish packing and gather up their things. They would only be gone for a week or two. Before the wedding he and Ira had sat down to long plotting secession to make sure that everything would be prepared for should anything arise. With Ira's help he had also been able to plot for the location of their honeymoon.
Their parting goodbyes said to everyone, Iggy was now seeing to the last of their luggage being loaded onto the carriage. They would be taken part way by this form of travel. Shifting the scarf that he had wrapped around himself again, he turned, his eyes scanning for his beloved wife.
