At her teasing he grinned back at her. "Does that mean you have an affinity towards older men? Cause I do not consider myself to be old." At the last comment his eyes narrowed teasingly. "You are not going to go chasing after Uncle Elias now, are you?"
Falling silent he reached out with his paws to drop them lightly on her shoulders before trailing them down her arms to wrap them around her wrist lightly. "Now, to your second question. That is a bit of a tale." Eying the ring that graced her left hand he decided where to start.
"When I was in my early preteens Elias brought me to the Heart Court to learn under Queen Shinrai aspects of the Court life. At least twice a year I would go spend some time with my real father at the Club Court as well.
"When I first came here there were not all that many who would spend time with me," Lifting one of her hands he motioned with it towards his left breast. "Oddly enough the people here are a little sticky about what is worthwhile and not. It was one day while I was wandering around bored that I stumbled across Se."

To his flirting back, Dre winked and said demurely, "I'm only drawn to old men if you are one." She didn't fight when he trapped her wrists; an action she allowed him the liberty of only because she trusted him so fully.
She listened thoughtfully, having-- for a moment-- already forgotten what her second question was. Still, it was very interesting to hear about Ignatius' past and how he had grown up, especially since he already had a good idea of hers from their honeymoon.
She tried to imagine her spouse as a boy come to a Court that was hostile towards his presence among their glittering throng. She scooted closer to him so she could rest her head against his shoulder again. Clubs-- with the exception of a few-- weren't as wonderful as Hearts naturally were, but that was no reason to ostracize a child.
The Ace was surprised that Iggy had come through his childhood if he was spending parts of it here at the Court of Hearts.

Remembering back to what had happened that fateful day he gave a small grin.
"Not having any friends I was naturally bored most of the time. You are probably aware of just what lengths someone will go through to find something interesting from having tended to Sid and Levi.
"When I first met him he was attacking a palace servant over some small irritation or other. I was instantly intrigued by him and his capabilities. It is not often that you stumble across a canine-equine mix with wings" And that was not considering the other oddities that came with Se and his personality.
Giving a small, almost careless shrug he shifted his hold till their fingers were interlocked instead. "It was pretty much from right then and there that Se took to thinking that I was part of his 'mind'. When I learned of what possibilities those gave me. Well . . . even a fool would be tempted to hold onto that power, especially at my tender age. It was that day that I also met Ira for the first time officially. If I recall correctly he was in the kitchen some sort of mischief."
There was probably more similar between Ira and Sid then most considered.

It was amusing to hear him talk of himself as a young little power-hungry hybrid, though she doubted it was just that. Ignatius, despite his stoic and rather standoffish demeanor, was a very kind and caring individual. She squeezed their interlocked fingers very gently-- that could hurt, after all-- as she she listened. He would have reached out to the obviously hurting young man that Se must have been.
She smiled at the knowledge that her father had been causing trouble in the kitchen and her thoughts strayed back to Sid and Levi who were less uncles and more like nephews to her. She understood what Ignatius meant about searching for things of interest to occupy one's time.
"Why would Uncle Se attack a servant?" she asked curiously. She would understand it if he did so now and, in fact, she'd managed to save one just yesterday from the Queen's rage, but surely back then he would have been in more control.
Drostan thought that Dre's question showed just how naive the woman was even now. Se's brand of crazy didn't develop overnight; it was something developed almost lovingly over years and years.

Iggy titled his head to the side as he considered her question. "I do not think I was ever really aware of what it was that had caused him to lash out. I think it was something that I agreed to the reaction of though.
"Se was a little more . . . 'there' back then, I guess. It seemed to be more of episodes rather than most of his fully out blown like what haunts him now. He was also better at explaining things away himself back then too."
He fell silent as he actually thought about what had changed in his friend and what had not. He was aware that there had been a change, or shift, in the male's behavior but it had seemed so subtle he was not sure when exactly the man had become like he was now or if it had always been that way.

Dre couldn't just say that she understood, because she certainly didn't. She had a certain degree of sympathy, but there was no true empathy; she'd never had anything like that occur to her. Still, she couldn't blame Ignatius for trying to help Se, even if it was in a rather crazy manner. That was the way to get through to crazy people, after all, right? You had to relate to them in a way they could understand, not necessarily in the way things actually were.
She mused on all of this in silence for a bit before returning her attention to her spouse and the story he was relating. "So he was already a little off when you met him," she prompted gently, wondering there was more to this story than just that presentation of Ignatius' history with Se.
Drostan, at least, wasn't surprised to hear that Se had devolved over the years; that simply proved that he was correct in his estimation of the crazy Queen.

At her prompt he gave a nod of his head in confirmation.
"I think it was mostly because of his 'off' nature that we became good friends. Se had no reason for my suit to bother him or hinder his opinion of me. Ira, well . . . Ira is Ira." He said the last part kind of fondly.
Giving a shrug he brushed off the topic of his past a little.
"It was due to this unexpected friendship when no one else would bother that has caused the two of them to have my unquestioning loyalty." At least it was unquestionable to a point. A point which might have now been met considering how things were bothering him of late.
During his talking he had shifted his gaze to stare at nothing in particular over her shoulder. Bringing it back to meet her eyes he took a deep breath before asking, "Do you think there is a point where loyalty to a person should come to an end on a matter?"

Dre couldn't stop herself from smiling at the summary of her father; yes, though she had not known him as she grew up, no one could argue that Ira was anything other than fully and totally himself. She was proud to be his daughter.
The Highlander/Josiggy mix wasn't entirely surprised by the question, though it made her heart hurt a little that it even had to be asked. Because that meant that Ignatius felt he just might be at that point in his relationship with her uncle.
She couldn't make herself answer immediately, and her gaze slipped away to wander around their suite as she tried to think of how to answer. Finally, as though the answer was pulled reluctantly from her, she could only say, "Yes." She looked back at Ignatius sadly. "Though I don't know if that's the point Uncle Se is at now," she couldn't help but put in.
Drostan agreed with the first answer and disagreed with the second. The current Queen of Hearts was certainly at the point where he should be 'put down'.

He was patient as he waited for her reply to his question. Looking down at their intertwined hands he played with her fingers, amazed at how thing and delicate they appeared to be. It did not seem like they should be the kind of fingers that would carry around her glave of have her sort of past.
As she was silently thinking the mix grew more and more nervous over what her reply would be. He had not noticed when he first asked her the question but what she replied with was important to the hybrid.
At her reply he glanced up thankful to hear her opinion on the matter. Her addition to her answer made him feel a lot better. "Do you think he ever could?" He questioned further. Now that they had found the topic, of what it was that had apparently been the thorn that had been bothering him, he did not want to drop it so easily.

Dierdre gave a small sigh, lifting her free hand to touch Ignatius' jaw fondly. She loved his face, his colours, his mutations. He was so wonderful. She didn't like his questions but that was because she knew that these wonderings were hurting him. And this likely wouldn't be any less painful to know; Dre feared that her opinion would cast Ignatius into further doubt.
"I think it's very likely Uncle Se will someday reach that point," the woman admitted, watching her husband's face for his reaction; she didn't want to hurt him, but she would be no less than completely honest with the man. "And that's why so many in the Court are afraid, I think. Well, they probably think he's there now, but I don't think he is yet."
Drostan again found himself disagreeing with his mistress, though he wouldn't tell her as much.
