( <3 I love how these two react to each other. And I love how sweet Kelasia is.)
No preference? All right. He walked towards the chosen restaurant, and found that it really wasn't all that far. It took very few steps to get to their ultimate destination, and they were greeted by a chipper attendant who promptly lead to a table where they could sit--Kelasia's cart and all.
It wasn't all that impressive. Just a small restaurant with simple wooden tables draped with checkered cloth. A waitress waited in the corner ready for their signal.
Theofilus looked down at the small card of a menu, looking at the variety of drinks they had. Most of them were some sort of cocktail mixture of syrups and alcohols. Nothing that he thought was good for a question and answer session. They even had a smaller list of foods.
"I'm sorry Kelasia, it would appear we're accidentally on a date," Theofilus said jokingly. "You know, I think I'll just end up having water rather than bothering to order some sugar filled drink."

((*gaspy!* is this our 30th post? xD; We are awesomeness and they are adorable together.. xD; ))
A date? The words so surprised the skunk that she was struck dumb through the entire time Theofilus perused the menu. She blinked at him when he decided on his order then her eyes darted to skim over her menu before she quietly agreed with his summary of the drinks. "Water sounds good," Kelasia said softly. "But shouldn't we actually order something as well?" She, at least, would feel guilty sitting in their cafe and not actually ordering something to pay for; afterall, that's how restaurants worked... Right?
She was still off-skelter from the 'date' comment; not only had she never been on a date--ever--but she hadn't -expected- to ever date. Ever. A very big ever. Or perhaps it would be better to say 'never.' A mammothly huge never. Her mother had often said she couldn't keep friends, much less a mate. A small frown threatened her already saddened features. Gads, why was she such a reject?
(( 100th post! <3 ))

( Yay for 30 posts! X3 Yay for 100!)
"Of course we order food, but that's after we tell the young lady our drinks, since I'm sure we don't want to keep her waiting in the corner," He flagged her over, reciting the simple drinks. She skittered off, and left Kelasia and Theofilus alone once again.
"Was my comment out of line?" Theo asked suddenly. She seemed a good degree more flustered than he by the recent development. He never expected to have a nice chat over food with anyone today. Was this even classified as a date? Perhaps a blind one? He never really knew what the line for date and not date was.
But she was a nice girl. She was nicer than most of the women he met. He was amazed that she was so sulky (he wasn't sure if that was even the proper term) about life. She was certainly aloof when it came to dealing with strangers--though her curiosity was intriguing. He was happy to find some interested in things other than themselves.
"Do you have anymore questions?" It was an offer he was sure that she could refuse. "We could discuss books."

"Oh, yes," Kelasia replied and her head sunk slightly lower in embarrasment. She should have thought of that. In her defense, she didn't often come to restaurants. And the few times she had, it was with her mother, and that was always such a joy that she didn't remember the restaurants.
She sent him a surprised look before shifting her pale eyes back to the table. "Uhm, well... I don't really know." Her admission was directed at the furniture rather than Theo, but, again, was oddly blunt. "I've never gone on anything like that, so I don't know if it's out of line." She chanced a concerned, vulnerable look up at the bird before her gaze returned to the table.
She would definitely prefer to talk about books then relationships and/or commenting about relationships. But she also had questions about his shipping business and she hesitated for a moment as she tried to figure out which route to follow. "Did you always want to go into shipping? Are there any good books on that subject? Wot's your favourite book?"

Theofilus suddenly felt twice as experienced at the whole relationship. He probably shouldn't have been all that shocked, she did seem like the sheltered sort. Her look just added to his sheltered aspect theory, "Out of line or not, I'm going to pay for the meal since you're such nice company. You can order the most expensive thing on the menu if you like."
Right. Out of his own pocket, he reminded himself not to take money from his business dinner fund or at least to put it back when he can.
Did he always want to go into shipping? Well, that was a confusing question. He always wanted to work with numbers and books, that was the only reason why he had gone into shipping. It was that or become some sort of scholar. "I wanted to work with numbers and books actually. Shipping just happened to pop up and I latched onto it. There are very few interesting books on it, most of them are quite dry. You'd probably be able to find a better book on business. At least those try to be interesting rather than dry."
For a moment he paused. Was this rambling? Ultimately he didn't care, because she seemed interested and he was going with that. "I don't have a favorite book, I have a favorite type. I really enjoy historical fiction... well history in general."

Uncertain as to whether she was supposed to insist he not pay or if his decision added a new dimension to the meal, Kelasia decided she was just going to let the whole thing slide away because it was just too embarrasing to think about any further. She was, however, relieved that he hadn't -told- her to order the most expensive thing on the menu, because she didn't want to even if he had told her to; and yet if he had told her to do so, then she would have been further at odds on how to react. That whole train of through confused her as well and she shifted it away to ruminate on later.
"How did it pop up? Shipping, I mean," the skunk asked quietly, still very interested. Perhaps especially so in his ramblings, because she was just that curious about everything and if he was talking then she didn't have to think of more questions to ask, he would, supposedly, be answering them before she even asked.
She also found it highly interesting that he enjoyed history. She liked history as well, though she'd not really had a chance to study it yet; she was constantly distracted by just trying to research the modern day questions that sprung up in her mind. She didn't have a lot of time for it right now, obviously, as she was out searching for her ambition.

She actually wanted to know what caused him to make a life altering decision. It might help her on her quest though, now that he thought of it. "It was a weird moment in my life. I was pretty young actually. My father was talking to my now partner, who had just started the business and needed someone to do all the math. My father was very ecstatic and pointed out that I was very good at math. So, I ended up getting a job working all of the accou--"
The waitress had sneaked up on him and had already put water on the table. "Can you give us five more minutes dear?" The woman nodded hastily and slipped back into the shadows. People were quite fast around here.
"We should probably order before she pops up again," he shrugged. Capital City was often too fast for his liking. Can't people just step down and take a breathe they were constantly moving. "But, yes, I worked on all of the accounts and eventually became partner because I did so much work."

Kelasia had been rather enraptured by Theo's tale and when he send the waitress away, she flushed again; she hadn't even realized the woman had returned. Oval ears flattened uneasily for a moment before she turned her attention back to Theofilus. He seemed... almost annoyed at the waitress' re-appearance. This surprised the skunk slightly; wasn't the woman doing her job? Theo seemed the type to appreciate those who worked hard at wot they did. She appreciated those who did, though she didn't always appreciate when the attention had reason to come to her. Hardly a surprising reaction, though.
She picked up the menu again to peruse the food items, but her attention was divided already and when he continued to speak of his past. "You handled -all- of the accounts?" Kelasia asked, awe and respect evident in her voice. She could almost sound insincere despite the fact that it was completely sincere. "Then it's a good thing you're going to become the only owner. It's only fair, after all."
