Rocky tilted his head. "Would you, Jack sir, happen to know where the the West Lakes company is?" The raccoon was fascinated by these two, but he was quickly growing bored. Unless something exciting happened he would probably start plotting ways to transplant the canine's mane on the equine. Though, he couldn't imagine the equine would look very good with a mohawk... it just didn't work like his wings did. Hair transplants were useless anyway.
He flapped his wings as a brilliant question came to his head, "Good Jack Sir! After you finish showing Darrien the way around the Capital, could you direct me to a library perhaps?" A good book was something he could never pass up, especially since the libraries around her were known for scientific books. And of course a large library in the capital would have various books on his favorite subject.
He contained himself from spewing happy all around and went back to observing the pair, following close behind.

Shinrai blinked, turning to regard the raccoon with some surprise. ”The West Lakes Firm?” That was where that intriguing bird worked; the one who had made the delivery out to the Marsh for him. ”Unfortunately, I’m not entirely certain where the office is; but I’ve been hoping to find it. Why are you searching for it?”
Jack, Jack, Jack, Jack. Right, he’d forgotten to introduce himself. He was used to not knowing the names of those around him; multiple tours would do that to a guide. Still… the raccoon could just keep referring to him as Jack; it was a bit presumptuous, but, really, the horse didn’t care. He’d just been an innocent bystander roped into this conversation. Really.
”Unfortunately, I’m not as certain where the library is in this city.” He’d not had reason to find it yet and his wanderings occurred at night whilst such business would be closed.

“Oh wonderful!”[/b] He exclaimed with a smile. “Please lead the way, I’ll be sure to give you some thing for your services when I reach my shop. I owe you something for taking me around the city during your own time.”[/b] He motioned with his forepaw and waited for the equine to lead the way towards the business district as well as the inns he had mentioned previously.
When Rocky mentioned West Lakes, he thought for a moment. That company name sounded familiar. Where had he heard that company name before? After a moments thought it dawned on him. It was an export company that his father some times did business with to finish some of the accounts or when it came to getting certain supplies. He turned to Rocky, “West Lakes huh? I’ve heard of them, good company, my father has never had any troubles when using their services.”[/b] He smiled again.

(( lol Everyone knows of Theo.. xD; He's going to need more employees if his business keeps up like this... ))
Rai's ears flattened briefly in displeasure at the mention of 'payment'; he wasn't some sort of lowly Club (careful non-pointed look at the canine) to be hired off the street. He was a businessman in his own right. "Do not concern yourself with... 'payment'.” His disapproval was obvious in his tone, though he kept it a faint tinge. The long, whip-like tail flicked in accentuation then he turned and led the way down the streets.
They had to go at a slow pace making conversation likely and easy to do; the crowds were too heavy to simply move quickly. Besides which, neither Rocky nor Darrien would likely move at Rai’s normal pace when he walked alone. The horse usually moved swiftly; always prepared to get to his destination quickly to minimize interaction between. Unless, of course, his paranoia got in the way and caused detours that eventually led to him reverting back to his tour guide days. Ah, well. These shouldn’t take too long.

(( OOC: XD I'm sure you're right. MUHAAHAHA ))
No libraries he's been to! He mustn't have been that familiar with the area. Blast. The raccoon mentally shrugged, oh well. He would stick around for the ride. Something was bound to happen with these two fascinating characters.
"I'm sure it will be an easy place to find, The West Lakes Firm that is. The prospects of meeting that bird again would probably drive me to find it in a heart beat." He grinned madly. The thought of questioning Theofilus made him more than ecstatic.
Rocky curiously titled his head in thought. Neither of these men knew about flight, he was sure of that. But what else could stimulate a conversation between such strange people. Oh! Yes! "Why, Darrien do you desire an inn that faces a road? Is it that important?"
The raccoon had never been taught anything about superstition, his mother would have nothing of the sort taught in her house hold. The kind woman believed in what she was living. Nothing more and nothing less.
And Rocky had more faith in her words than superstitious nonsense. He was simply curious.

Darrien looked a little hurt. He never meant the offer of showing his appreciation to be taken so badly. He just was trying to be nice, like he always was. The man did not have to help him and Darrien was sure that he must have had other things to tend to as well today, and therefore he felt some kind of compensation was due. He decided to ask if the man was sure about declining, “Are you sure? I feel bad for asking you to help me and not offering something in return, perhaps a meal in stead of a few coins to show my thanks?”[/b] he said with a hopeful tone. There was nothing wrong with the offer of a free meal was there?
Darrien turned his attention to Rocky as he made his comments about the West Lakes Firm. Old bird? He wondered who he could have been talking about, but he guessed it did not matter. His father had sent him here to take care of the business for their company and nothing more. Then the question about the inn came up. Darrien nearly stumbled due to shock. Where had this man been living? Why did not he know the basic principals he had been taught about life? In the middle of his thoughts he almost forgot to look where he was walking and almost laid his paw down upon a crack in the road. He quickly stepped over it and sighed loudly before answering Rocky’s question. “Well…you should know that a house or door that faces the street is to bring good luck right?”[/b] he looked hopeful at the raccoon, hoping that he would know this of course and his question was just a fluke and he had forgotten.

Shinrai gave another sigh, rolling his eyes where the pair couldn’t see. Yegads, he had stepped into it this time. He didn’t really care if the dog was superstitious, though it was interesting to hear just how much the raccoon wanted to see Theofilus. Very interesting; he’d found the Nine of Diamonds stimulating company and a nice guy, but he wasn’t obsessed with finding the bird again. Rai sent a quick sidelong glance towards the black creature tripping happily along beside them. Maybe he just liked men. Yet another interesting thought, though it didn’t really make a difference to the horse.
His ears flicked back towards Darrien at the offer of a meal. He still looked annoyed, but this time it was simply they’re positioning as they walked. A meal might be alright, though it still reeked of the concept of compensation. ”I am not here to be bought,” the stallion finally said mildly, but the disapproval was all but gone. ”Though I would avoid couching such offers in such… low terms.” Faint reproof at the wording, not the proposal.
His ear flicked back again as Darrien explained the door concept, then back forward again thoughtfully. He’d never heard that one either… Odd. Not that he was superstitious, for all he was a tour guide through the Josiggy Marsh.

Wow. Good Luck? That was amazing thing to want. And the equine didn't seem to like the idea of being paid for his services. Herm, he wondered if that had anything to do with the canine being a club. This horse was hard to understand--but then again they hadn't known each other long at all.
"Sir Jack," The raccoon tilted his head curiously. "What is it you're interested in? Obviously Darrien is a businessman with great knowledge of superstitions. I am obviously curious about flight and not so obviously the revitalization of necrotic tissues," He paused to wiggle his wings to provide an example. "But you aren't as crystal. Not that it matters much, I'm simply wondering what we should talk about that would interest us all."
This had been the most talking that the raccoon had done in a long while. He usually just studied his books and interrogated birds on flight.

Shinrai sent a brief, disbelieving look over his shoulder at the raccoon. It must be that Corvistowneian mind; the idea that everyone could simply be shuffled off into categories by interests, well, the idea was ludicrous. ”Do not distress yourself on speaking of my interests. I am perfectly content listening to the pair of you conversing.” And it was none of either of the two’s business wot Shinrai’s interests happened to be or why he was there.
The horse continued to lead the way down the streets and through the crowds with the clicking of hooves on stone. He occasionally had to stop their forward process as another particular heavy group would block the way. Eventually, however, they managed to slip into the business district where the crowds thinned as people streamed to their destinations.
The horse’s ears swiveled about curiously, wondering where exactly Darrien needed to go now. There was an equal chance they might even find the Firm’s location. He was not certain he was up to dealing with many more people today; though the sparrow had proven an interesting and restful companion.

Darrien hung his head as he listened to the other two converse between themselves. The horse had taken him quite literally when he made his offer about repaying his wonderful kindness and help with money. He would have been sure to compensate the equine generously for his help, he would never have stooped to as to only give him a few coins worth, but he was glad that he did take up his offer of a meal. He would have to be sure to treat him to a wonderful meal; cost was never an issue when the company was concerned.
He listened to the raccoon comment to the equine about his superstitious behavior. Was it really very strange to others outside of his hometown? He had never been taught differently and He was not sure if he would really like this city much. He stifled a sigh as they rounded a corner and came upon the business district. Now it was only a matter of looking for the office.
