[OOC: Note he is VERY superstitious and he does have a very thick Selkie accent to his common speach] Ahh the sun feels good today, he thought to himself as he made his way to the destination that his father instructed him to go towards. He was here on business and it was his job to see that all was going well with this particular job. His father had decided that it was time for Darrien to have a more active role in the family business. His sister was forbidden to take over when his father handed over the business and his brother had been long gone from the family due to misfortune. There for it all lay on his shoulders. He did not mind really it just meant that he would become head of the family business like his father had before him. Granted things were tough since dad did not take anything less than perfection and from the age of sixteen, he had made him work along side the workers. To teach him humility he said, but some times, he also wondered if it was because of his suit, but either way he had proven himself and here, he was looking after this one account and making his way through out the city. Of course, he did so in a strange way. He was looking down at where he was walking and seemed to be avoiding any cracks that were in his path.

(OOC: XD rather than throw the obvious choice at you, I give you Rocky.) Curiouser and curiouser. "What are you up to?" the Raccoon said as he seemed to appear from midair. He had been watching the canine skip cracks and such as he walked along the streets. Rocco tilted his head curiously, what was this man up to? He wasn't as interesting as birds, but he still had some potential. Perhaps he was a trader like so many of those people from the Lakes. Perhaps he knew that bird, what was his name...Theofilus! Oh that would be splendid wouldn't it? "Do you not want to break your mother's back?" he asked with a raised eyebrow. There was no way he could believe such a childish myth...was there? His second eyebrow ascended at the very thought of this man being a backwater superstitious man. Surely there were none of those left in the city. Rocky debated on making a hasty retreat. No, that would be silly, and it was far to late now. He had already made an introductory comment. This sociable thing was hard.

Shinrai's paranoia required that he paid close attention to those around him and the Selkie canine's strange behaviour had the horse's guard up as the trailed the beast for awhile to see wot would occur. However, any interruption by him was preempted by the interference of a black raccoon with a hump. This was fine by Rai, however. He'd much rather have someone else bungle into a trap. That said, it took another moment before Rai realized that the hump was, in actuality, a set of wings. Surprise lit his eyes again and he found himself hesitating nearby so he could find out more about these two; one because of paranoia and the other because of curiousity. He turned to a market stall and pretended interest in the wares; jewelry it seemed. He had no real interest in the bangles, making noncommittal noise to the trader as his ears remained turned backwards to catch the conversation happening nearby.

Darrien stopped when he was addressed and looked up one paw still in the air. A Corvistownein raccoon was looking at him in a strange way. He figured he had some time to talk and quickly looked around him as he sat down trying his best to avoid any cracks in the street. “I’m on my way to take care of an account of mine, and what do you mean by not wanting to break my mother’s back? Surely you know that avoiding cracks is meant to bring good luck and stepping on them is to bring bad.” Yes it was as the raccoon had guess this man was quite superstitious and it also did sound as if he was from deep within the selkie region as even his common had quite a thick selkie accent to it.
The selkie also noticed the equine in the distance and his somewhat interesting behavior. He watched him for a few seconds being careful to not stare, as it was impolite and then turned his attention back to the raccoon. He was a seven of diamonds; yes, he had more than enough time to talk to him. “I’m Darrien, it’s nice to meet you,” he said as a charming crooked smile graced his face. This canine seemed to be somewhat charismatic for being a club, which one would notice right away as unusual.

Rocky gave the canine a blank stare. He didn't actually believe in such a thing, did he? And... he didn't really have that think of an accent did he? There was no way Darrien character knew who Theofilus was. There was no way they could be in the same social circle. The raccoon took a quick glance at the canine's rank. An eight of clubs that was superstitious no less, somehow this failed to surprise him.
"It seems you caught me in all your infinite wisdom. I know nothing of such a tale." Rocky's wings wiggled as he spoked. "My name is Rocco, but most people like to call me Rocky."
Introductions aside, what was this man thinking? "I didn't mean to prevent you from making a business deal. If you like I can simply disappear or... converse with the man lingering in the background. Though it is a pleasure to meet you Mister Darrien."
The raccoon may have been an air head at times, but he was far from obvious to the world. He had noticed the equine who had been trailing Darrien. Why else would a man of such simplicity be looking at such gaudy jewelry? Either way Capital City was filled with quite a few strange people.

Darrien looked at the raccoon in wonder. How could he have not known about one of the basic things of life? Did not every one know about the principals that his life was built on? Surly they did and some one had just failed to mention this particularly important one to Rocky, yes that was it. He shook it from his head as he responded politely to the raccoon’s response of him being on business. “Oh you’re no bother; I have some time in fact I’m to remain in the city till this venture is taken care of. And please call me Darrien.”[/b] He paused for a moment and wondered if Rocky knew of a place, where he could stay until his business was concluded. “Actually this is my first time here in the city, you don’t perhaps know of an inn around here in which the door faces the street do you?”[/b] His inquiry was quite innocently asked but Oh, yes, if one was not of a superstitious mind, they would think this canine was quite off his rocker when in fact he was not. Some things were because of parental influence and well it was quite apparent that some where in the course of his twenty-three years of life all of these silly wives tales had been placed in his head.

"Oh, I haven't the slightest," Rocky said with a tilt of his head. "Perhaps the stranger who has been watching and listening knows his way around the city. I only came here last night, and I've taken to wandering. I think most inns have their doors facing the road... since it's good for business and all that."
The raccoon turned around and approached the stranger who was still pretending to look at his jewelry. "I apologize for interrupting but Darrien over there, very much needs to know where he can stay a night in the capital. You do seem like a nice gentlemen who knows his way around...." His wings twitched in anticipation. What a fascinating man from the marsh was it? Oh, he had an interesting tail too! What strange people came to the capital, it was just as fascinating as being home!
Rocky found himself grinning. It had been a while since he was interested in something besides his passion.
(OOC: >_>; so in my head Rocky sounds almost like the male version of Luna Lovegood. )

Blast. This was the second time he'd been spotted whilst trying to be covert. Maybe he needed a cloak? Well, perhaps he –was- being covert; maybe he was acting so natural, they had just taken him as a normal passerby and chance had directed the raccoon to ask him about accommodations. This made him feel a little better, but Shinrai still took a breath that ended as a sigh and turned his back (perhaps a bit too eagerly) on the overzealous salesrat. With the gaudiness of those wares it was hardly surprising the creature was so eager to make a sale; he likely wasn’t making a lot of them.
Inns, inns. Rai let his thoughts go to the question. There were, of course, quite a few nice places in the Capital, but it would greatly depend on income and length of stay before he could make some sort of recommendation. It was likely just as well that he spent many nights wandering the city; he was slowly getting to know the Capital quite well.
”If you’re looking for a few nights, the Striped Rose has moderate prices and a wonderful atmosphere,” the stallion finally said. ”Though there are, of course, many other choices available. But if you’re looking for several weeks or months, Queen’s Tap would likely be better. A little less nice, but the prices make it worthwhile. Just let the innkeeper know how long you’re staying and he’ll give you a discount.”

“Hmmm” Darrien said as he thought to himself, perhaps it would be a better idea to go and visit the job site before he sought out an inn so that he could get a better idea how long he might be here in the city. “I’m sorry if I’m to be a bother, but perhaps you could show me the way to both? I’m afraid I’m not terribly sure how long my business in the city will take me.” He smiled again in his naturally charismatic way, the canine was indeed strange but he was of no threat to any one.
In a second thought, he again wondered where the job site was exactly. His father failed to give him a map of the city and only told him to look for the small office in the business district, there he would be able to locate the exact location of the account he was in charge of and send out any information he needed to as well. “Umm…” he said again after a pause “Neither one of you happens to know where the business district is do you?” He pushed the longer font part of his mane that had fallen into his face away as he dawned an embarrassed look for having to ask so many questions to people he had just meet.

At least tour guide was his usual occupation, Shinrai thought with a sigh. One he occasionally found himself missing; well, or he was just missing home. He missed the trees, the beauty, the whole spiel. Well, no time to think of that now.
”We’re closer to the main business district than the inns,” Rai admitted quietly, knowing that the implication was he was volunteering to show the way. He glanced towards the raccoon, but the black Corvistowne seemed perfectly content to just let the others interact, putting in his own comments from time to time. But most of the creatures from that unorthodox placed seemed to be the same way: he’d had one hiker nearly walk off the same cliff three times because of something about a plant or birds or something.
After a momentary hesitation, Rai turned to take a few steps in the proper direction. He turned to glance at the others; it would be a little bit of a walk, though nothing too bad.
