Mori was vibrating with excitement as her brother counted down slowly, her fluffy tail moving quickly from side to side. She folded her spindly legs beneath her, wings extended slightly to give her that extra boost when she leapt onto the bed, just before she fell to earth once more. Her shining eyes were locked on the mix, and as soon as he finished counting, she released every bit of the energy which she had stored within her small legs.
Landing with a soft "oof" atop her brother, Mori beamed at him as he began to groan. "Ez! Ez! I'm here early, Ez!!" The blue-spotted Bander whuffled excitedly, pulling her small body up onto the bed and planting her front feet directly onto the biped's chest.
Calia's eyes met those of her lover, and her gaze clung there for a moment as she listened to his small outburst. Such an expression of strong emotions from him warmed her in a way, reassured her that he did care deeply for her and for their small daughter. It had never been in question for her, of course, but... It was a nice reminder to have.
"We are so lucky to have you, Theofilus.[/b]" her cheeks darkened slightly with a blush as he set the tray down before her, and she looked up at him with a warm smile. He had remembered how much she had loved drinking tea with him in the mornings... It made her heart flutter in her chest. She moved delicately, placing one of the tea balls into her hot water. "I assume you've been well...?"

Ez snorted as he shifted his wait so he wouldn't suffocate due to the dog pile. His bander made a point to pretend to be asleep in it's corner, his dad's was probably doing the same in the other room. He couldn't help but wonder why his sister was early, but he was too groggy to contemplate in full sentences. "EEEE! I'm so happy!" was all he could manage in his sleep induced high as he hugged both the bander and his sister.
Zane started to crack up, it was just so terribly amusing to see his brother in such a state.
He smiled softly. Calia was such a darling he could never express his happiness in words. "Yes. I'm actually going to take over the firm shipping firm once and for all," He smiled as he took a sip of his own tea. It was hard work transferring all the accounts and loyalties, late nights and all, but it was certainly worth it if in ensured a future for him and his children.
Speaking of children... "Oh, How has Ceren been? Is she being a hand full?" Theofilus asked with a worried expression. That girl worried him, being a natural born ten he could only imagine how cocky she was when it came to children her own age. The last thing Calia needed was stress.

The blue spotted Bander whuffled softly as her brother's scent reached her nose, large eyes reflecting what little light filled the room. She leapt down from the pile of sparrows that had suddenly appeared on the bed and walked, stiff-legged, to her brother's corner, sniffing slightly before flopping down beside him and closing her eyes without another word.
Mori felt as though her heart would explode with the affection that she felt for her siblings. It had been so long since she'd seen them... Life with the haughty Ceren had been... Difficult for her. Unlike her babbling brother, Mori fell silent in her joy, simply snuggling close into all of the feathers that surrounded her. Her eyes fell closed, and it wasn't long at all until she found that it was hard to open them again. A huge yawn would tell her brothers exactly how exhausted she was.
Calia's brows rose at this news, eyes sparkling. Theofilus had always been amazingly clever, and she couldn't help but feel a spark of pride at this news. She grinned at him over her tea as she drank daintily. "Oh, Theofilus! That is amazing news... Congratulations." she moved from her tea, shuffling her feathers slightly. "If there's anything I could do to help with the process, you know how to find me."
At the mention of their other daughter, Calia fell into a momentary silence. Ceren acted very well when her mother was around, but at all other moments... She was a hellion, through and through. "She's... more than a handful." Calia grinned softly, looking a little embarassed. "She's very clever, Theofilus, and she's learned how to take advantage of others very quickly. I think that when she grows older and learns to control herself, she could be very successful in the courts.[/color]" It was something that was troubling, but Calia knew it was true. Their daughter's wit and desire for greatness... She would move ahead quickly.

Zane snuffed out his laughs and managed to whisper, "Sleep time then?" the mixed sparrow watched as his sister curled up besides Ez. All questions he had about how she was could wait until morning. Ez was already fast asleep hugging his sister softly. The mixed sparrow sighed and took his place in the pile. The last thing he saw as the banders cuddling together.
"Thank you...but I wouldn't want to trouble you with my business, unless you want to bother some of my contacts of the forest." Theofilus shrugged.
As for Ceren, well he couldn't help but think of how his mother would react. He could only hope that she was never like her in her ambitions. "I hope she keeps her head on straight and remembers some modesty," said the sparrow with a sigh. His mother's ambitions had lead her to a path of destruction, Ceren should never go down that path. "How does she treat Mori?" he asked. The worry in his voice was growing. "And Calia, you do know you can call me any time you want?"

"You know I wouldn't mind,[/b]" Calia grinned, shuffling her feathers to better let some of the heat of the house in. She was only showing it in very subtle ways, but she was nearly as tired as her daughter, who now was fast asleep in the other room. Though the travelling was not nearly as taxing, keeping track of the young sparrow and her Bander companion took more than a little effort. "Just get me their names and I'll pester them all you need.[/b]"
She drank her tea thoughtfully, nodding her head slowly. As proud as she was to have such a high-ranking daughter, she knew that there would be a day when Ceren would refuse to listen even to her mother unless she gained some additional respect for her family. Well, other than the respect she had for her father, which was all Calia could have hoped for. "I think she hopes to move to the courts, honestly." she chuckled. "She wants you to see her rise up and be proud of her, though I doubt she'd ever publically admit to it.[/b]"
Mori. The sound of his voice saying her name cut through her mind, wiping the smile from her beak. "She treats her gently, but sometimes I wonder if she would do so if I had made it less clear what would happen if she treated her anyway but gently.[/b]" Calia shook her head a little sadly. "Mori's still fairly weak, Theofilus. She doesn't seem to be growing very much... I worry sometimes.[/b]" At his last words to her, the smile reappeared, albeit faint, and she nodded slowly. When it came down to it, she trusted him with her life.

"I will always be proud of all of our children," Theofilus sighed softly. The courts? He had a feeling all of children might try to get into the courts.
"I don't know what could be wrong with Mori. It could just be us worrying for no particular reason?" He doubted the question as it escaped his mouth, even if he wanted it to be true. The problem could have been anything, but it certainly wasn't nothing. The sparrow shook his head in frustration. They should discuss such serious matters in the morning with a fresh outlook.
"You should probably get some rest, Calia. I imagine you would want one after your journey. We can always discuss matters in the morning." He smiled before taking a long sip of his tea. Maybe he should simply give up and sleep himself, the books could wait until later. He could use this precious time to stay with Calia, rather than have his work as a companion. She was more more trustworthy than he ever deserved.

"As will I. I just wish I knew a way to tell her that and really have her believe me." Calia sighed softly, an almost musical sound, and her eyelids slid shut. She loved their children more than anything in the world, yet she was still unsure of how to be the best mother for them. She had never expected it to be easy, of course. She was just glad that Theofilus was only a day away from them.
When her eyes opened again, there was the faintest glimmer of tears present, but the sparrow blinked them away easily. The male would be hard pressed to have noticed them, so briefly were they visable. "I'm cure she is fine... I do worry, though. Quite a bit.[/b]" she laughed, hoping to alleive Theofilus's worries as well as her own. She was so very happy to be with him now that she hesitated to cause him any distress at this point. It should be a time for celebration.
Her tea finished, Calia looked up at Theofilus and offered him a small, almost teasing, smile. She was tired, but... From the sounds of it, Mori and her brothers were fast asleep. "Rest.. would be wonderful, but only under one condition.[/b]" she rose from where she was seated and moved closer to the Lakeland male, gently running her beak across his own. Her voice was a near whisper, and there was a quality to her gaze which was rarely seen on the face of the normally mild sparrow. "I'd like you to join me.[/b]"

"Some things will never change," Theofilus shrugged sadly. You could tell a person a million times how much you loved them, and they would never truly believe that you loved them.
For now he would think about only the best for Mori's sake. She would grow up to be a stunning girl either way. He would never lover her less for what she became--but there was no doubt in Theofilus' mind that she would one day be great in her own way when she found her direction.
Suddenly the somber mood that had been hanging over the two shifted. Something not too unexpected made Theofilus' heart leap with joy. How could he refuse his lovely lady? After all there were no other beds in the household and the paper work could wait.
Actually the paper work could burst into flames and he could careless.
"Of course, my lovely lady, I could never refuse an offer from you," He smiled and caressed her face with his wing. He slipped off his chair carefully, and guided Calia to the bedroom.
His room was very simple. A large bed with plain sheets stood in the center, while a dresser and a night stand were on either side of the bed. The wooden floor was covered in a large rug. A few scattered paintings of past family members strung the walls at odd angles. Nothing fantastic, but Theofilus had always tried to be humble. "I'm sorry for the simple accommodation."

The sparrow allowed Theofilus to show her the way, eyes closing in the breifest sign of pleasure as his feathers brushed across her own. She could not and would not deny that she had truely missed this, missed him... Of course, who could blame her for that? He was the handsomest man she'd ever had the pleasure of meeting.
When they reached his room, Calia glanced around at it quickly. There was a small flutter in her heart as she looked around, as though it was simple, it was also him. She looked up at him with a wide smile. "You have no reason to apologize.[/b]" she gently stroked his face with a wing, looking into his eyes as she did. That smile was still on her face, and her eyes were dark. She allowed herself to fall back onto the bed, closing her eyes and nestling into the blankets before glancing up at him again, eyes inviting.
((shall we do a little time-warp to morning? <3))
