Mori beamed at her brother, her joy at his knowing what she wanted showing plainly across her face. She nodded eagerly, leaning over the side of the bed to pull up the small bag she'd brought with her, rummaging through it for a moment before producing a small hairbrush. She sat back onto the bed, purposefully bumping into Zane, who she now knew to be awake.
"Ez, you're the greatest!" she trilled, settling into place in front of him. She loved spending time with her brother, and she loved the way he would play with her mane. Zane was so grumpy in the mornings but he was always witty, and just being with the two of them put a huge smile on her face.
--
Calia let out a small cry of delight - it was almost as if Theofilus had somehow read her mind! She pulled back slightly just to smile at him, eyes shining happily. "Oh, Theofilus! I would love that ever so much.[/b]" she snuggled up against him, head against his chest, feeling the thumping of his heart next to her ear. It was strangely soothing. "I can't help but be so proud of you. You've done so much for the company, you're simply brilliant. They're more lucky than they could possibly know.[/b]"
Mori would likely be bothering Ez now, as she'd been talking about him for days before they left for the lakes and how excited she was to have him brush her mane again. The two of them would have at least a half-hour together alone before the children were fully ready to go on some sort of adventure. "What shall we do today?[/b]" she murmured, rolling onto her back to look up into his eyes. A picnick at the lake was always an option, though in her mind she wanted little more than to send the children off somewhere so that she could have the handsome sparrow to herself for a little longer.

Ez grinned widely as his sister produced the comb. It figured that she would bring the legendary comb so he could do her hair properly. She always enjoyed it. She was so terribly proud of having her mane, and he could understand why. He took the brush without a word and started brushing out her hair. "Do you want your usual braid or would you like more than one today?"
Zane opened his eyes to stare at his sister. Sleeping in was such an illusion, but watching Mori and Ez together was relaxing enough. "I hope you two keep doing this through the years. It's one tradition that should never die," he yawned and stretched his bat-like wings. "I think she'd look better with her hair simply tied back."
"Where's the fun in that though?" Ez asked, knowing full well that he wasn't the one who was going to make the decision.
---
He smiled at her praise. He really didn't deserve it. He had helped the firm, but he could always do so much more. For today, though, he would simply accept the praise because he had made her happy.
"Today? That all depends on what you think is the proper thing to do," He grinned down at her. "Clari said she would be willing to babysit the kids so we could spend some alone time together." It was a devious plot for alone time, but they both should spend some time away from the children. Thankfully the feline friend was willing to put up with children for the day.

There was something soothing about the feel of her brother's hands on her mane and the way he brought the comb down through it that relaxed Mori to her very core. Her fluffy tail curled tightly around her exposed feet and her eyes closed. "Mmmm... can we do two, this time?" it was a ploy on her part to get more time spent with her brother, but she felt confident that he wouldn't object in the slightest. She glanced up at Zane through the bangs that had fallen into her eyes. "I don't plan on ever stopping it, but part of the tradition is the braid." she grinned widely at him.
---
Calia carefully considered his words, leaning against him and stretching her blue feet out in front of her. On one hand, it would be a joy to spend some time as a family, but on the other.... She did want him all to herself, at least for today. It had been so long since they had last been alone together that the idea of ending the time they had prematurely made her stomach turn. "The proper thing to do would be to go out with them. However...[/b]" she rolled over in his lap, her head settled up against his stomach, grinning shyly up at him. "I'd like to have the day with you, and I know Mori wouldn't mind seeing Clari again. We still have much to discuss.[/b]"

"Two braids it is!" Ez chirped happily. He carefully parted her soft mane. He enjoyed doing this. It was honestly more fun to be with his sister sometimes. The two of them had more in common when it came to certain things. He did miss her when she went away. Even if she wasn't that far away it was still depressing. He carefully began the braid to the right side of her hair.
Zane watched quietly from his spot on the bed. He would have shook his head, but the moment was far too nice to break. It had been a while since he had found Ez's smile to be that wide, or his to be even close.
--
"Fantastic," Theofilus grinned even wider than he had before. "Clari is going to be over after ten. So I can make a nice big breakfast for everyone. Then I can wait on you hand and foot and we can discuss all the things that need to be discussed."
He wanted this moment to last forever. "Perhaps we could go for a nice picnic? I haven't the slightest idea what we would have though. It's been a while since I've prepared such a thing." He was going to do all of the work today. She needed a break more than he did.

Mori was the picture of comfort as she moved with Ez, wincing only slightly whenever the comb caught a tangle and had to be forced free. When she was around her brothers, the desire to act like she was more than she was vanished, leaving her feeling safe and secure. As much as she loved Ceren, there was a certain way about the sparrow that made Mori feel as if she needed to put up a tough front to mask her insecurites. She shuffled her wings and closed her eyes, turning her head slightly so that Ez could better braid the side he was currenly working on.
She glanced up at Zane, smiling rather shyly at him. He was just so cool, and he never looked down on her. She felt so lucky to have such a loving family.
---
"That sounds absolutely lovely. I can help you set up the picnic, Theofilus,[/b]"Calia smiled slightly at him. He was always such a charmer and knew exactly what to do to make her smile. "If it's going to be our day, I want to spend it all with you, even if that means we make a lunch together. [/b]" she closed her eyes, letting herself lean against him for a moment longer before sitting upright once more, stretching her wings out slightly. Regretfully, she turned to look at him, brushing his cheek with a single wing feather. "I suppose that means we should get moving, then. I'm sure the children are all awake by now, they'll be hungry I'm betting.[/b]"

Ez finished the braid without much protest from his sisters braid. Since the other side was already combed out, it would probably be easier to braid. He went through the motions without a single hesitation. "We're always going to be best friends, right?" He worried about it some nights. Mori, Ceren, Zane, Malch and he were on completely different paths.
Zane replied before Mori could, "We'll always be siblings. We have a brotherhood and sisterhood that no one can break." A smirk crossed his beak. "Even if I have to protect everyone, we'll stay together somehow."
It was a hope.
--
Theofilus was reluctant to move, but he knew better than to protest. They had work to do, and wonderful times to spend with each other. He slipped off of the bed and moved to the door. "Well, my lady, what would you suggest for breakfast?" He opened the door and gave her a bow. Ladies always went first.

Mori shifted slightly, letting the neatly braided hair fall and brush against her shoulder, grinning to herself at the way it tickled her. When Ez asked his question, her face fell slightly, as she shared similar worries. She knew it would only be natural for them to drift apart as they grew and eventually moved away from home, and it terrified her. She was too weak, she knew it, and would likely remain at home with her mother for years to come. Her head fell slightly and she stared intently at her feet, trying to push the surfacing emotions from her thoughts.
It wasn't working very well.
When she looked up again, she was looking directly at Zane, and pressing herself against Ez in a comforting way, her tail tickling his side slightly. "You'll always be my best friends," she murmured softly, wondering if this could be seen as a sign of weakness. In front of her sister, it would be, but her brothers were not so quick to judge.
---
Calia gave Theofilus a small bow before leaving the room, her expression thoughful. "If that little market is still around, I could run down and pick up some fresh fruits to make a salad... Or we could do pancakes.[/b]" she combed through her mind, picking out the things which she could remember as her son's favorites, knowing that a decadent breakfast would be just the thing to set their day off right. "Mori's not a big eater, but she's never been picky.[/b]" she remarked with a smile.
It was a beautiful morning, and she was sure it would soon become a beautiful day.

Ez finished the braid as soon as his sister spoke those encouraging words. He would never let her go. No matter what he did with life, no matter how care free he was, he would never let her go. "Good," Ez said as he hugged her softly from behind.
Zane let out a soft sigh. Crisis averted. "So, think we should bother the parents for some breakfast? Or at least see if we can jump on their bed?" He grinned. When Malc wasn't around, he had to play the distraction. It was fine by him, all work and no play makes jack a dull boy.
--
"I do have some fruit from yesterday," He smiled at Calia. One day she should own her own catering business. She would probably enjoy it. "Apple pancakes might be a nice change."
Then she mentioned Mori. That still worried him. It terrified him. However, she was still young and had a long time to grow. "Picky eater or not, I'm sure she wouldn't refuse apple pancakes."
((OOC: >_> seriously. Apple Pancakes Rock. ))

Her brother's actions were reassuring in a way she was sure she would never fully explain. Her eyes slid shut, and she sighed quietly as she settled into the hug. She loved both of her brothers, and her sister.. but it was no secret that she loved Ez the most out of all of them. He had such a talent for making her feel safe and needed, and knowing just the right things to say. She looked at Zane, a small but slightly wicked smile spreading across her face.
"I think I like this idea." she laughed, wiggling out of Ez's arm and beaming at him, her braids dancing on either side of her face, seeming to match the cheerful mood that had filled the small room. Daliah seemed to be alerted to this change in the mood and with a soft 'whuff', she leapt onto the bed, wiggling against Mori, who couldn't help but laugh.
---
Calia leaned against the counter, her smile shining in her eyes. She could hear the laughter of their children in the next room, and it filled her with an air of content. She felt like almost anything could happen now, but nothing could shake her. She had a beautiful family, and she was... Well. She had him. At the suggestion for pancakes, she nodded thoughtfully. "She loves apples and pancakes, so I can't see how she could turn them down... Especially since Ez and Zane will almost certainly be devouring theirs.[/b]" she laughed, hopping off the chair she had perched on and beginning to prepare to cook.
As she moved beside Theofilus, she shot him a glance filled with longing for the breifest of moments. She had never been good at dealing with her feelings, and so it surprised even her as the words escaped her beak almost without her knowing. "I love you, Theofilus."
They were quiet, almost not there at all, and the moment after they had been spoken she turned away, wondering if she should have spoken at all. It was probably a mistake, and so she filled herself with the hope that he wouldn't even have heard them. The blush on her cheeks was strong enough that it shone through the blue feathers.
