Theofilus graciously accepted the invitation and snuggled besides her. A smile never left his face during that night. He certainly had missed her company all this time. It was wonderful having actual sleep than working on papers through out the night.
---
The morning sun greeted them with the numerous sounds of morning birds and happy creatures. The male sparrow was reluctant to move from his comfortable spot. He wished that the moment would simply last forever. He squinted at his partner--she was thankfully still asleep. He could slip out of bed, make some tea and breakfast and she would be none the wiser.
After clicking the door softly shut he busied himself in the kitchen. It didn't take him very long to finish the tea and toast, setting it on a proper tray for Calia. He once again returned to the bedroom, tray in hand, and set the meal besides the lovely female sparrow.
"Morning," he said quietly slowly drawing back the curtains. It would be a while before the children would be up.

Calia slept soundly even as Theofilus slipped away from her side, eyelids fluttering softly in sleep. Her lovely maroon feathers fanned out slightly in comfort and what he would know to be a clear sign of her delight. As the smells of hot tea and toast reached her nose, her eyes slowly slid open.
It would be impossible for the sight before her to not warm her heart and bring a smile to her face. The handsome male sparrow was backlit by the sun streaming through the window, giving him the appearance of being covered in a shimmering light. And then the food... She couldn't believe how thoughtful he could be! Of course, she loved every minute of it. All the anxieties and tensions of the night before seemed to evaporate in that moment.
"Morning to you, too...[/b]" she murmured, slowly pulling herself into a sitting position and moving to make room for Theofilus. "This... This is amazing. Thank you so much.[/b]" Her good mood seemed to radiate from every inch of her body, and she smiled up at him.

"I don't think my toast and tea is so fantastic," he said. A smile graced his face. "But I'm happy you're thrilled with the idea. I can make more if you like, or I can bring you jam. I think you honestly deserve breakfast in bed."
He couldn't help but grin. It would be a while before the children were up and about. They could still spend quality time together in the quiet of the morning. The very thought warmed his heart. "Would you rather eat or discuss things while you eat? Idle chatter is sometimes the best way to reveal tension, and I imagine you have quite a lot."
Theofilus slipped into the bed besides her. It was moments like this he was happy that his room was so small. It provided easy access to intimate conversations. He mad sure that there was at least a comfortable distance between the two that she could eat and drink properly.

"Perhaps not the breakfast itself, then.[/b]" Calia leaned in, running her beak across his and gently through the feathers on his cheek in her form of a soft kiss. From the quality of the light that fell across them, she knew she had plenty of time to enjoy this moment. "But the notion is wonderful, and being here is even moreso.[/b]" Somehow, she had forgotten how soft his feathers were, and she lingered close for a moment longer before moving away to settle back and look at him while they spoke.
His statement was incredibly accurate, and she grinned a little shyly. "If you don't mind me eating while we talk, my stomach is feeling a little... Growly.[/b]" She had spent so much time with their children that speaking to someone her own age and as intelligent as Theofilus was a massive pleasure. "Do you remember that cafe I was working at? It was recently closed.[/b]" she shook her head a little sadly, as she had taken that job shortly before meeting Theofilus, and it had brough her huge amounts of joy. "So, to sum things up, I need a job.[/b]" she looked up at him, that embarassed smile having spread to the rest of her face.
"I thought about it for a while,[/b]" she continued, taking a thoughtful bite of the toast he had prepared for her. "And, honestly, I would love to work closer to you. I was thinking of seeking work either at the Lakes or in the Capital City. I have no idea what I'll do yet, but it's a start.[/b]"

"Go ahead, take your time. We're in now hurry." He smiled. The day was young.
The sparrow choked back a sigh. That was a lovely place they had met. It was beautiful, well managed, and wonderful place to be. Of all the restaurants in the Forest that was probably the most creative. Something so rare had shut down. "Well. I can't promise any jobs here. Not until I get the firm and sort out the messes that were left behind. I know you could easily get a job in Capital City. I'd be more than willing to supply you with any support you need."
He wanted her closer, but he knew better than that. There weren't many stable jobs that weren't family inherited. It was a pain in the royal ass for outsiders to get jobs sometimes. "If you want to work closer to me you could always get a job at an inn. Though I've heard stories. You can imagine the things that happen." He paused, and looked her directly in the eyes, "I'm sure you could do anything you wanted to."

The sparrow nodded softly, smiling up at him again as she took a long sip of her tea. As she moved away again, there were words floating through her mind: Delicious, excuisite, and above all else perfect. She knew that she had fallen hard for Theofilus, and was throroughly unsure of whether or not that was a bad thing to have done. She would deal with it if need be, however, as she was an adult. For now, she would go right on ahead with the way she felt, and let the emotions carry her along.
It had been an amazing place, and she had loved working there. Visitors to the forest would always eat there if they could find it, and locals rarely seemed to go out, and so business had slowed to a stop, no matter what they tried. "Honestly, Theofilus? Just seeing you more often would be all the support I need, and I know that Ceren and Mori would love it. It might be a little interesting until I can find us a home, but the girls are growing up, and I know that Ceren at least can't wait to leave the Forest.[/b]" Her gaze was thoughtful.
Ah, a job at an inn... Well, it would certainly pay any bills she might have, but he was right. There were a number of unplesant attributes to working at such a place. She sometimes felt simple, but when it came down to it she just wanted to continue cooking or waiting tables, as she had done for years. "Do you know if there are any good cafes near the firm? We all know I have the experience for another restaurant job.[/b]"
She settled back in the blankets, thoroughly enjoying their rather candid discussion. She leaned against the handsome sparrow, enjoying the feel of his feathers brushing against his. Having arms would make her life so much easier...

The sparrow thought for a moment. There was the cafe in the business section of Capital City. It wasn't far away from their West Lakes Firm branch now that he thought about it. That would be a fantastic place to work, and she had chances of advancing. And perhaps when they had to expand... she could get a job working in the firm.
"There's a lovely little cafe in the business section of Capital City. It's within walking distance of the Capital City Branch of the firm." Theofilus said as Calia leaned on him. He wrapped a wing around her, a smile on his beak. It was lovely way to spend the morning. He missed her at night. A bander was not much company when it came to snuggling. The sparrow shut his eyes for a moment. He wanted time to stop for just a bit longer.
"Once I get control of the firm I'm going to be traveling quite a bit. Or at least I won't be at the Lakes as often as I would like." He sighed. He did love his home, but sometimes he grew annoyed at the residents of his home. That was one of the reasons why he decided to become the traveling representative and clerk of the West Lakes Firm. "It would be nice to see you more often. It would be fantastic to see you more often."

Calia looked up at him, eyes shining with a peaceful joy at his words. She loved the sound of his voice, especially when he was talking to her... It gained a certain softness that made her heart jump. The idea of another waiting job wasn't an awful one, but what she really wanted was to work with him, and possibly one day move up to represent his business in her Court. She would wait, however, and see what happened - perhaps when Theofilus gained control of the business she would have a chance at a job at the Firm.
"That would be delightful, Theofilus.[/b]" she looked up at him, the corners of her eyes folding up with joy. "Maybe you could come by at lunchtimes. I would make sure that I could wait on you, too.[/b]" It would be just like their first few meetings all over again, she thought nostalgically. She was, in fact, a sucker for such things. As he folded his wing around her, she moved close to him, nuzzling against his neck softly. The kids would be awake soon, but for the moment she was more than happy to remain right here for now.
Calia nodded as he spoke, fully understanding the sentiment. "I know exactly what you mean,[/b]" she admitted, grinning a little shyly. "Being closer to you will be wonderful, but being somewhere else for even a little while... Well, it'll be incredible.[/b]" she laughed softly, a musical sound.
~*~
As her eyes slid open, her mother's soft laughter was the first thing to reach her ears. Mori stretched her wings slightly, eyes narrowed against the sun that was beginning to peek into the small room. Her brothers were cuddled against her, the three of them a huge cuddly feather pile. Ahhhh, this was perfect! Her mane was completely mussed up from the previous night's wrestling, and she moved over and rested her head on Ez's chest. "Ez...? Ez, wake up." she murmured, voice quiet in an attempt to wake one brother and continue to allow the other to sleep.

Ez woke up with a start as his sister called his name. "Gah, what?" he said looking at her with bleary eyes. He noticed how her mane was messed up, probably because of all the bouncing last night. He let out a yawn as stretched his wings. "Want me to braid your hair?"
Zane kept his eyes close as he muttered, "You're the only one who can."
--
"Someplace to go every lunchtime would be lovely. You know, eventually when we had an opening you could become a secretary or an assistant to financing. One day we're going to expand. One day." He said with a smile, pulling her closer. Her laugh was like music to his ears. Everything was perfect in this moment.
He heard a distance sound in the next room. The children were probably awake. Not until they made the shuffling that signified they were ready for breakfast would Theofilus make any move to get ready for the morning. For now he would enjoy the quiet with his favorite person. Thank heavens he had met her.
