The Sorgaire Range dweller didn't know wot to think or say or do; she didn't have any idea just how she was supposed to react in this situation. Did she bow out? Did she stand up and push? It seemed almost as though Calia was willing to just step out as well, but Kel couldn't quite trust the reaction. Honestly, she had no right to expect anything from Theofilus; the man was a wonder to put up with everything he did already and she so desperately did not want to be a burden to him. But this! How was she supposed to react?
She couldn't look up at the Lakes sparrow when he spoke; he and Calia looked so good together! She shouldn't break up such a lovely couple, especially when they'd all proven that they could have beautiful children together. She should step out of the picture and not break up the family.. she really should.
"Have either of us been scorned?" she asked softly. Because it didn't seem like it.

Calia shook her head slowly and sadly at Theofilus's words. She was, for once in her life, completely at a loss for words. The tension in the room only helped to rope her beak shut, and she stared blankly at her hands. Her thoughts were racing from topic to topic, moving from angry to sad to completely empty. Slowly, her thoughts began to slow to a more reasonable pace, and she sighed. When she finally moved to speak, the words that were in her mind were ecchoed by the skunk, and she blinked in surprise, looking at the other woman.
"I... really don't know. I don't think we have.[/b]" she finally said, looking from the skunk to the sparrow and then back to her hands.
"But then I have no idea what I've missed. Clearly, something has happened and many things have been left unsaid.[/b]" her voice was strangely faint, but she gave the other woman a meaningful and almost stern glance. Now was the time to talk, and she fully expected honesty from both sparrow and skunk. "As Theofilus said, we're... Family.[/b]" I guess. The word almost stuck in her throat, but speaking it was essential. If the sparrow had said that about the other woman, then there was nothing that Calia could do to convince him not to keep her around. Especially not with the skunk as in love with him as she was.
She just couldn't hurt anyone.

"Scorned or not. I never should have kept the truth from either of you..." He sighed and looked at both of them briefly. What was he supposed to do now? Family. Yes. They were both family to him. More than that.
Damn. He placed his hands on his face, reaching under his glasses to cover his eyes. "I had no idea what to say or do in this situation at all." He shook his head and rubbed at his eyes. He was getting a small headache with all this stress welling up. Theofilus had never imagined himself in a situation like this. It was more like some story that his father told him than anything that could be possibly real.
Theofilus was at a complete and utter loss. He honestly had no idea what to do or what to say. That was a first. "I.... is... there anyway we can.... be a Family together. I would do anything to keep us all together."
Words were really hard to get out sometimes.

The skunk's ears flicked back as she wondered the exact same thing that Theofilus had asked. Wot could they do? How could they mesh such a strange, triangular relationship into a working family? The Sorgaire Range woman was, sadly, lacking in answers. All she knew, even now, was that the wasn't willing to just leave, even if she should. She wanted to be willing to, wanted to be able to, but she knew that in actuality she just couldn't. Not like this. Not now.
Kelasia fought within herself as she desperately wanted to make another excuse and just hide away from all of the emotion an drama, but it seemed destined to follow her right now.
Exhaustion struck her suddenly; the emotional rollercoaster of this evening was almost too much to bear. Couldn't she just be invisible for awhile? Just hide away and pretend that the world was happy and carefree and, perhaps, that for a little while cute, adorable Calia just didn't exist.

Calia fell silent, letting the man's words fill her mind and considering them carefully. She was completely torn between two mindsets, one of which was screaming at her to detach herself compeltely from the situation, sever all ties to the sparrow that didn't involve care of their children, and never look back.
She knew that solution would solve nothing, though.
The other solution, however, seemed completely hopeless, but she found herself looking up at the skunk all the same. She was such a kind woman, the sparrow could tell already. She just hoped that neither of them would take her suggestion, but she cleared her throat to speak all the same. "Miss Kelasia, ...Theofilus, why can't we stay a family?[/b]" she finally said, looking from one Card to the other. She felt very small in this situation, but it was all she could think to do to continue on. "It's... a surprise to me, but there is love between you.[/b]" she gave the man a look that said many things, but she was smiling slightly.
"I can't destroy love when I see it, Miss Kelasia. If... If you'd like, I will welcome you into our family with open arms.[/b]"
Surely, she was crazy. But... It made sense to her.

"What...?" Theofilus said as he blinked a few extra times. Had Calia really just said that. Did she actually mean it? The sparrow stared at her for a few moments, and then looked over to Kelasia. Was the answer really that simple? Could Calia open up her arms to the other woman without question.
And wait... wait waiiiiit. How did she know anything about his feelings towards Kelasia and her feelings back? And this was just an interesting mess wasn't it.
"How... is that supposed to work?" Theofilus asked as she looked from Calia to Kelasia once again. He didn't think he could manage to understand what the two women were thinking unless it smacked him in the face. "Can you really... really do that? Wouldn't you just hate me for it? I'm sorry, I just don't think I can really understand unless you explain it to me."
Wow. That was a first.

Kelasia blinked in surprise as well, turning to look over at the other woman, her face a mask of shock tinged with vague hints of pleasure. Just like that, this mother was willing to accept her? Accept the interloper despite the fact that she had no rights to be here, nothing but a tie of love with a man that, by all propriety, she should not even look at. Of course, she hadn't realized that Theofilus' children's mother still lived or even that she was someone still in his life.
Then again... she knew Theo. Of course he would still have ties with the mother of his children! He couldn't make such a shallow relationship; he was too honourable and kind.
"You are... too kind..." the skunk said, blushing lightly. "How could I..... How could...." How could she impose upon the other two was wot she kept trying to say, but it wouldn't come out. She couldn't say no, she couldn't throw away her one chance...
"How could I ignore such a wonderful offer?" she said quietly, looking at the floor. "Theofilus obviously loves you," she said, pale blue eyes coming up slightly to glance at the beautiful Kahmden's face before shyly slipping away again. "He is a caring man, but he does not give that away freely. I could not dislike someone who means so much to him."

Calia's feathers fluffed slightly as she looked from Theofilus to Kelasia and back again. Of course the sparrow had trouble understanding, she wasn't entirely sure exactly what she was proposing herself. It was a last-minute attempt at working some solution out between the three adults, and she was fairly sure that they would figure out exactly what it meant with time.
So she smiled at Theofilus and then at Kelasia, a warm smile. "A family can do anything, can't it?[/b]" she said to him by way of answering his question. "Especially if it means that it can stay together.[/b]"
At Kelasia's words, Calia couldn't keep from blushing, blue feathers showing through a light purple. She didn't know what to say in response, so she simply reached out a hand, taking the skunk's paw in it and squeezing gently. With her other hand, she took the other bird's in much the same way, looking up at them with softness in her blue eyes. This was a right mess, she couldn't deny it, but she felt very strongly that the three would be able to figure it out together.
After all, sharing the man was much more positive a prospect than the alternative, and Miss Kelasia seemed to be very much the sort of person Calia wouldn't object to having in her family.
(annd done!)
