At the males words the fox only felt worse. “I do not know if there is much I can do for you. I do not think that you want to be my friend and I can not get you your sight back.”
He played with the glass some batting it back and forth. This day was turning out to be no fun. He had made the eagle cry and be frightened, something he had never intended, and now he felt like he was not wanted.
When the male mentioned that his brother must have been near he looked up to spot a blue avian making his way purposefully to their table. “If he starts to doubt you then tell him to say my name, okay? For some reason people seem to sense me better afterwards.”
He was not sure why that was; he was still invisible after all. He was not going to argue the fact too much though; since it usually kept people from freaking out . . . or it caused them to flip out more. One could never be sure. He had promised not to speak so he fell into silence making sure that he caused nothing to move.

"What? I didn't say you couldn't be my friend. You just scared me." Eilwyn said before he was promptly cut off by his brother's foot steps. So if something went wrong he should tell Zane Asher's name? Okay. That seemed like a good idea. Zane hurried over to his brother, a nicely dressed biped bird besides him. Several of the bells that laced her dress rang jingled skittered back to the kitchen area. The eagle tilted his head curiously at the thought that they send Marybeth after Zane. Didn't she have a crush on him or something? "Are you all right Eilwyn?" Zane asked as he hugged his brother without warning. "What happened?" "Uh... well. It was just a bit of confusion, that's all. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to worry you. It's just... a friend of mine did something that frightened me and I got carried away. Everything's okay now." Eilwyn shifted under his brother's weight. Zane had his doubts, but Fern taking a snap at his ankle was enough to let him know that things were fine to some degree. The older sparrow let go of his brother and place a hand on his shoulder. "So where is this friend of yours?"".... Um. That's a bit complicated. I think he's still sitting across from me but... he's invisible." The eagle felt his brother's grip tighten, but his words didn't seem to reflect the proper responsible of disbelief. "Well. Mr. Invisible. Want to introduce yourself?" Zane asked as he looked at the half full glass of water across the table from Eilwyn. Two glasses. One was empty and one was too far away from Eilwyn to reach. The waitresses wouldn't do that to Eilwyn. And if this so called "friend" had caused so much trouble and bolted Zane would be greeted by an awkward silence then. Simple as that.

The fox looked up startled by what the eagle had said. They could be friends? He could not believe his ears. Other then the little purple fox he had met a little while back he had never had any friends. Indeed, the word was almost foreign to him.
When his ‘friend’s’ brother arrived he made sure he fell silent. He took in the eagle’s brother. They were both birds it was true but they were not the same, Eilwyn being an eagle while this one appeared to be a sparrow?
As the male went on addressing his table partner the fox kept his promise and remained silent. He did not want to cause any more problems. However, when the brother continued on to give the proposition of him addressing himself, he hesitated.
He had promised that he would not say anything but he now feared that if he did not then the eagle was going to be disbelieved. After a long moment of silence, though it was not long enough for the bird to completely doubt his brother, the fox cleared his throat and hesitantly whispered, “The name is Asher.” He really did hope the bird did not overreact negatively to his voice.

Zane jumped a little. Honestly, he didn't expect anyone to actually be there. Unless this child like voice was being mimicked or throw from a distance it really was there. Wow. Will wonders never cease. The sparrow looked to the eagle and gave him a quick one handed hug. "Well, maybe you and your friend you stick to places that aren't so out in the open. We don't want Miss Lorrie to panic like that again."
"Okay..." Eilwyn offered rather weakly. He was surprised that Zane was so very unsurprised by the whole situation. His brother was the calm and collected member of the family, but this was just a whole new level of amazement that Eilwyn held for him. "T-Thank you for believing me, Zane."
"Of course I would believe you! You don't lie," Zane said in a half chiding voice. "That's why I'll always believe you. Oh but--Asher... where ever you may be actually sitting don't get--" Zane blinked. What... did that fox just... magically appear in the seat or...? The sparrow shook his head. No point in arguing with his eyes. "Be careful. You can get Eilwyn in a lot of trouble, you know."
Though... the fox seemed to be in trouble himself. What in the name of all the suits and all the myths was going on? As much as Zane could hide his utter confusion in his voice, he couldn't hide the dumbfounded expression on his face.
And Eilwyn could hear the obvious bit of cover up. He softly squeezed his brother's hand in reassurance.

He was shocked by how well the eagle’s brother had taken his brothers word about him being invisible, and even more so after he had spoken. He had never met someone who just accepted him. He could tell by the look on the bird’s face though that he was still a little shocked no matter how calm his voice was.
“I really am sorry about all of this. I did not mean to cause any trouble. I have been invisible since . . . well I do not really remember a time when I was not. I promise that I did not mean to, I will be careful in the future.”
He was starting to feel a little calmer though he was still ready to leave if anything more troublesome happened. The brother’s advice that they go somewhere not so in the open sounded like something that would have been a better plan.

"All right," Zane said with a wave of his free hand. Asher. Asher. Why did that sound so familiar? Could he be that boy that Mr. Aderlass had mentioned? Well that sort of made sense didn't it? "I was in the middle of something, so perhaps you two could wander over the the fountain. Or maybe it's been enough excitement for today?"
Eilwyn squeezed his brother's hand, and looked at where Asher's voice had been coming from. "How about we meet at the fountain tomorrow? I don't want to lose touch with you just because you scared me a bit."
Zane raised his eyebrow but stayed silent as he looked Asher up and down. That simply had to be the person Ader had mentioned. There couldn't be that many young boys named Asher. The sparrow shifted his weight and smiled as best he could, not many people could see through his fake smile, thankfully.

When Zane smiled at him he returned the favor without thinking before he nodded his head a few times, well that was before realizing that neither of them could see the actions. “Tomorrow at the fountain? I think I should be able to do that.”
He would have to slip away from his parents but that should not be much of a problem since they usually left him alone to do his own thing, thinking he actually had friends, and when they did not he usually slipped out anyway. Now that the horned-mouse had bought the place and was changing it into his shop there were not many places that he could play in anyway. And the eagle had mentioned that he would not mind having him as a friend.
What would it be like to have a friend anyway?
“What time should we meet there?” He asked tilting his head and taking a sip from his drink.

"Noon," Eilwyn offered. His brother would be at work, so if something "went wrong" he couldn't be bothered. He heard Zane's slight annoyed growl at the time, but shrugged it off. His brother could deal with it.
"If not, you just pick the time and I can meet you there. I just don't go out at night." The eagle shifted his weight as his bander whined nipping at his ankles. "Fine Fern. We can go soon, but you're still in trouble when we get home for biting someone."
The bander snorted before going back to laying down besides her master's feet. She eyed the sparrow's feet through the chair legs. Maybe if she tried to... but the slight tug on her collar disagreed.
Zane eyed the little bander with a bit of contempt. He shouldn't have bought that little terror. At least... he knew what Asher couldn't be worse than a bander. That was a large constellation.

He quickly did calculations in his head. “Noon should work just fine. How do you want me to let you know that I am there?” He asked the last question so that they had a way of identifying each other. He was sure another scene like today’s was not going to go over well. He tilted his head at the fact that the eagle would mention not going out at night. He was not allowed to, not that it stopped him when he was determined.
“I should probably be going; Mama and Papa will be worried soon if I do not get home soon.” He finished off his water. “Sorry again for causing so much trouble. I will see you tomorrow then?” Placing the glass back on the table he stood up.
He waited for the eagles reply before he turned to skip off in the direction they had come heading towards home. He had never had a friend before or anyone who he could have nearly given the name so he was very excited. He could barely suppress a giggle as he skipped off, causing many people who passed him to look around startled at the sudden noise from no source.
