She peaked around the corner. Nope. No one. The feline growled as she rounded the corner. No one was up. Fluffy and Eldy were all asleep when Xiven was wide awake and ready to play. She had tried to wake them up, but it didn't work that well. Apparently none of them were early risers. Peaches was, but Xiven didn't really like playing with her Mom. She really didn't get the playing thing unless it involved puppets. Xiven was terrible bored of that. She just wanted to do something different, which was the exact reason why she was sneaking around in the wee hours of the morning. Someone just had to be up at this hour! The world didn't stop just because the sun wasn't up. With all the morning vigor she had she skipped down the hall as best she could. It was difficult to skip properly with her bindings, but it wasn't as bad as Eldy. Skipping with a ball and chain was a little more counter productive than tripping and falling on your face once or twice. The shifting of the chains was enough for anyone around the bend--and probably far down the hall--to know that Xiven was coming. For a Cat the concept of quiet escaped her at this young age.

Heilyn hadn't quite gotten quite used to her new surroundings yet. The exact same thing happened when she moved into the basement of that shop. Long, restless nights of being unable to sleep. She decided to explore. It wasn't a crime to wander around at night. In fact, she preferred wondering around at night. The Bog was a dark place and the sunlight here without the protection of her mask was... overbearing. Too bad, because she loved being able to glare people into stuttering without the use of her magical ability ever since she learned she didn't need the mask to breathe. She now kept it tied around her waist. Maybe the piercing yellow eyes with the slit pupil that was oh so characteristic of the Bog dwellers had something to do with it. She walked down the halls in her usual gait: as if she was stalking some prey, when she heard a noise. It sounded like chains rattling. She decided to investigate. It was a young cat, a Torquiey, from what she could tell. She stalked along quietly, the canine having more sense of stealth then the feline, until she was right behind her. "Shouldn't you be in bed, kitten?"

What was that smell--OH! She spun around from the sudden voice behind her, her tail puffed up from the fright as she took too steps back. She blinked a few times as she looked up at the person who interrupted her merry skipping.
Oh? Hadn't Peaches mentioned something about her? It was a pity Xiven was horrible with names otherwise she would have been able to address the Bog Dweller properly. Well, as properly as she cared to. She was a Queen and had a bit of an ego because of it. Even if she didn't want adults to notice she couldn't hide all of it.
"Bed? Why should I be in bed when it's a perfect time to be up and walk around. There are a lot of things better than sleep." Her tail remained puffed up from the shock of being discovered. She wasn't going to let her guard down completely after such a surprising introduction. She glanced at the coyote's face. She had really pretty eyes.
The feline looked at the mark on the coyote's chest. No point in being dishonest or disrespectful. "Er... I'm sorry I don't know your name," she paused as she debated on properly introducing herself, "I'm Xiven."
It wasn't a "proper" introduction but it was close enough.

A smirk made its way onto the coyote's face.
"Makes sense. I suppose I can relate." It was, in fact, the exact reason she was out, give or take one or two small things. She noted the young girl's rank. Impressive
"My name is Heilyn," she introduced herself, "don't worry, Xiven, I'm relatively new here myself, so I'm still learning names and other things, too." She rather liked children, but could only tolerate them for so long. "Are you headed anywhere specific, or just wandering?" she asked the young feline, racking her brains. She had to be the daughter of somebody here in the court, but who? Her region was exceedingly obvious, she just had to remember who... She remembered seeing a woman with long, purple hair once, wearing a straight jacket. Could it be her? She couldn't remember the woman's name or rank, though.

"Wandering. Eldy and Fluffy are asleep, so I was bored. Peaches said I could wander if I didn't leave the palace or bother anyone in their office," Xiven explained looking up at the Bog Dweller. Bipeds were really really tall.
"Heilyn is a really pretty name. You come from that... Bog place right? It begins with an R I think," the feline looked down at her paws in contemplation. She really should have paid attention to her lessons and stuff. Mom worked hard to find the proper tutors for her, but it was just so difficult to pay attention to someone who was constantly rambling. Xiven was more interested in exploring. "Uh... What are you doing Miss Heilyn? Are you just wandering too or do you have some place to go?"
Her tail and returned to it's normal unfuffed size. Xiven figured that if this woman was dangerous she would have already done something to her.

Ah, children. They think they make so much sense. Heilyn had no idea who Eldy and Fluffy were... Peaches rang a bell... but she just nodded and went along with it. Heilyn laughed, then shifted down into her animal form for the girl.
"Why thank you. I rather like 'Xiven'. Got a nice ring to it. And, yes, I'm from the Raemblen Bog. You almost had it," she answered the child, so very grateful that more people have heard of and began learning about her region. She lost count of how many times she'd had to repeat the same information over and over... "...I'm... just wandering. I prefer the night, and there are less people around at this hour, too."
"Just curious, Xiven, who are your parents? I'm... assuming they're here in the court?" as much as children almost amused her, she'd never been able to bring herself to baby talk them. She felt stupid doing it, but they seemed to listen to her more than other people because she never talked down to them.

It was a good thing that Heilyn didn't baby talk Xiven. Otherwise she would have simply hissed and walked away. She hated it when adults talked down to her. The feline was happy, however, that the coyote decided to go into her animal form. She didn't have to crane her neck to look at the woman.
And she complimented her name. She was a very nice adult!
"Peaches and Pravus are my parents," she grinned. Did the coyote know who they were? "Yes, they both work her. Mom's a Jack and Papa's a King."
She was proud to be a Queen. She was also happy to be a cross between her Papa and her Mom. Papa didn't like the fact that she wasn't a Highlander, but Papa was kind of picky when it came down to it. Special didn't even begin to describe either of her parents, really.
"Do you know my parents?" She tilted her head curiously.

Pravus
Yes, she knew the name. She knew he was close to the Queen. Very, very close. She'd seen him and wondered about that spine of his. She'd heard rumors of his torturing... The name Peaches was... yes. The name and rank and the woman in the straightjacket finally clicked. they were one and the same. Well, that was a strange couple, wasn't it?
"I've heard of them and seen them, but I've never actually met them, so, technically to don't know them, but I know of them. I'm sure I will meet them soon, though," she gave a short laugh at the irony of it, "You know what's funny? My father was a King and mother was a Jack, too." That was probably the only thing they shared, though.

"I guess that's sort of funny," Xiven said tilting her head to the proper position. Expect Xiven popped out a Queen somehow. She still wasn't sure how that was even possible. Then again, not a lot of things made sense. Maybe she would understand it when she was older like all the adults said.
"Not many people seem to like Papa. I mean with all of those things he does in the dungeon people think he's scary. I guess he is if you're one of those people," She glanced at Heilyn. She didn't look like the type to scare easily. Neither did a lot of people. "Mom isn't scary. She just... I don't know. She's good at hiding I guess."
Xiven had absolutely no idea what her mother did. She only knew what her farther did because of something that mentioned about him. That and it was pretty obvious that someone would think he's scary. He had the spine and all those scars. Mom was just a crazy woman in a straight jacket.
"What do you do here at courts?"

"Hmm," was her response was to the child's comment about her father and mother. So it's true, then, what they say about Pravus. Good to know. "Well, as I said, I never actually met him, so I can't really say I have much of an opinion of him. I like to make opinions of people only after I meet them, and not based on what I think I know." Not her most eloquent comment ever, but children didn't catch on that well to subtlety anyway. Her expression was perfectly neutral until Xiven asked about Heilyn. She gave a smile.
"I'm an ambassador, so to speak. To the Court of Hearts, I represent the Raemblen Bog, and to the Bog, I represent the court. However, I'm very, very new here, so they haven't found much of a use for me yet," she admitted with a bit of a laugh, sitting. Heilyn vaguely wondered how far the child's curiosity would take her in this situation. A smile still curled the corner of her mouth.
