Anatolius took a few soft laps of his tea, ears perked so that he could listen to the conversation at hand. Hm? Whip's teasing received a bemused snort and a flirtatiously playful wink from the Morganberry canine but what really caught his attention was, of course, the mention of his small 'ability' of sorts. So it was fire that interested Aderlass?
Perhaps then the King also had an ability with fire?
"Ah yes, well... It's not somethin' I can do consciously, you see....but when I'm angry the ruff around my mane and tail seem to light on fire." He shrugged his shoulders slightly, his tail ceasing to wag for a moment. He'd always wanted to do something more with that illusion but he'd gotten much of anywhere with that. "Emphasis on 'seem', I'm afraid... It's not real fire, won't burn anyone or anything... Though one day I would love to be able to take it further."
===
"Experimental plants...in the tub?"
Why couldn't this conversation get any easier? Just when Vana thought she could ignore the pure crazy radiating from her unusual companion, he would simply say something else and leave her just as baffled as before.
Before she could honestly push for further information she was abruptly tugged into a room where two children appeared to be having a rather nice tea party. That she could properly understand. Tea parties were a familiar thing, and slightly more sane than people blowing things up or drowning in laundry rooms. Not that this was an entirely uncommon thing, judging by how unconcerned everyone appeared to be.
And now, she was being invited for tea. Well, could this day get any odder?
"My name is Parvana, and its a pleasure to meet you." She paused and then smiled, nodding to both children and their doll guests. "All of you." She raised a paw to lightly decline his offer. "Thank you for the lovely offer, but I'm afraid we cannot stay for tea." Especially if Hadyn and Eir were not only possibly blowing up the laundry room but doing something mean to another child as well. "Ira and I were supposed to be finding Aiolos and, now, Hadyn and Eir as well. Would you know where any of the three might be?"

Iphis considered this for a moment. All three of them were likely engaged in make-believe where they pretended to try to kill each other. Iphis did not see the appeal of such games, but his siblings and their babysitter seemed to love them. Helena was quite convinced, in particular, that Aiolos had thrown her in a river for the purposes of drowning her. But Helena was prone to hyperbole. And Aiolos had told Mommy that Helena had said she wanted to swim, and he was merely helping her into the water. Iphis liked that explanation better.
"Aiolos makes up games sometimes where he says he's going to murder someone and then everyone plays hide-and-seek with knives. Maybe that's what Hadyn and Eir are doing. It's their favorite game." Gravely, he said, "Don't startle them, if you find them. They might accidentally stab you."

"They'd stab anyway," Ira said brightly. "V nearly lost his tail once." The whiny bugger. Minh Mommy had reattached it nicely. "But it doesn't really matter, we're looking for Aiolos. Do you think he's playing with the knives too?" The colt was losing some interest in the conversation; Parvana tasted rather yummy and he wanted to take a little nibble and find out if the rest of her was just as tasty. Mommy had said no biting, but perhaps a little nibble would be all right? He tilted his head as he thought about this, for all the world appearing to simply be contemplating the location of his siblings and babysitter.
------ Rai listened to Anatolious' explanation with interest, hrmming lightly under his breath and sending Aderlass a swift glance. Illusions were slightly less useful, but a great deal more safe. The stallion would not be surprised if the mouse had a use for even that.

His eyes widened a little in surprise and interest. That was indeed very impressive. It was not very often that one met a Morganberry, not to mention a Club, who dealt with fire, rather it be real or not.
“I do hope that you are able to make your flames real one day. It would definitely be nice to have someone else around who is able to do something of the same.” He gave a few nods of his head, this was very interesting. He was extremely glad that his friend had brought the canine around to their humble abode. His mind was already running through plots and ideas.
“Is there a chance that I might be seeing you again one day in the Courts?” he asked out of pure curiosity. The court of Clubs was definitely lacking in its membership and a lovely creature such as this would be a wonderful asset if the canine decided to make his way there.

Parvana honestly wished this situation wasn't quite so...weird.
What with the children's casual conversation of murder games and stabbing each other with knives, she was beginning to wonder if she'd somehow been lead into an asylum that was cleverly disguised as a home. It was very unsettling, but she was quite hopeful that nothing would befall her.
Anatolius wouldn't let anything happen...would he? And, honestly, if the children really were psychopaths than one of them should be covered in scars, or dead or something. Hopefully they just had a terrible case of Overactive Imagination gone very Wrong.
"I'll be sure to keep that in mind." She said at long last, very thankfully unaware of Ira's thoughts. "Would you suggest there's anywhere to start? The Laundry Room, perhaps?"
The quicker Parvana found someone the quicker she could get back to Anatolius. The quicker she did that the more chances there were at her surviving this unusual encounter without getting stabbed, or blown up, or something equally as unpleasant!
Tolius's ears perked up ever so slightly as Aderlass spoke. By the suggestion of his words, Anatolius had to assume that he could use some sort of flame-related ability. Was it true living flame though? Or was it just simple parlor tricks like when it came to An's coat?
"I definitely hope so as well... Though, I've gotta ask... You say 'someone else', would that mean you too have an ability regarding fire?"
If this was public news, Anatolius was out of the loop. He didn't much pay attention to royalty and, in fact, he'd never once thought of the Courts as the place for him to go. He was just a common canine, he was born to a poor family and had lived a poor life. Nobility was too good for a 'working boy' such as himself.
And yet this mouse was asking him about it. Asking him if he'd ever be seen in the Courts. It brought to mind a good many questions, for Anatolius himself in particular. Was there anything for him in the Courts?
"I... Well, I've never really thought about that. Maybe, though..." He tilted his head slightly, ears and tail droops ever so slightly. "Would you be interested in seeing me in the Courts one day?"
Perhaps if this King saw potential in him than he just might put some effort forth into getting there eventually.

Iphis looked at his brother and their new friend thoughtfully.
"Aiolos is probably playing with knives." He dropped his tone to a whisper of hushed reverence, casting his glance about as though trying to detect some malevolent force that might leap out at him for speaking. "You might want to look in Auntie Minh's labs."
Like Mommy's secret hidden rooms filled with evil plantlife, Auntie Minh's labs upstairs marked a forbidden zone into which only the bravest dare venture. It was a chaotic vortex of smoke, unidentifiable but clearly dangerous substances, and creatures in various states of mutation.
Sometimes they heard banders scream at night.
It was also a place Hadyn and Eir was liable to try to sneak into for mischief-making purposes. They were taking their lives into their own hands, as far as Iphis was concerned. The upstairs realm was one from which only Auntie Minh was known to return alive and intact.

"The labs would be more fun than the laundry room," Ira agreed, though that didn't seem to quite be wot Iphis' point was. "And Se can fend for himself; that's wot he's always saying! Hey, Parvana, let's go get some knives too!" So saying, the colt grabbed her wing between his lips again and tried to tug her back into the hallway. If Elyse and Iphis wanted to join them, the young horse left it to them to come up with the idea themselves.
------
Rai kept himself quiet throughout most of the conversation; it was really more between the two Clubs than a random Heart anyway. Still, Anatolius seemed like a good man and if his ability ever did go from illusion to reality and especially if he could learn to control it, he'd be a great asset to Aderlass.
"I think aiming for the Courts would be a great idea," the stallion said quietly, keeping his expression easy and interested.

At Anatolius’ question about someone else having the ability of fire he gave a mischievous smile before nodding his head. “Someone else does indeed have such a power, though I would have to say that mine is more then just an illusion.”
Giving a demonstration he grabbed a simple piece of paper. While looking at the canine he focused his mind on heating up just his hand till the piece of paper caught fire and started to burn. After dusting the ashes off of his hands, he took a sip of his coffee.
“There was one time when I could not control it and had to wear gloves all of the time. I can tell you, there is not much that is worse then having to wear gloves in the summer heat.” He let his mind wander for a moment to the first time he had actually been able to touch someone with his bare hands, having to not fear of burning them to death or causing nasty scars.
Bringing himself back to the topic he gave a firm nod of his head. “I always look forward to seeing Clubs in the Court. We are a little lacking in the number of people who are in our ranks, especially with how many Clubs there are running around. However, I do have to say that it would be a special pleasure to see you there, should you decide it is the life for you.” Yes, seeing the canine there would definitely be something he would love to see.

Parvana didn't like the idea of playing with knives. Not one bit. Nor did she like the idea of getting knives to play with. The butterfly allowed herself to be lead out of the room away from the delightfully distracted Iphis and Elyse, a look of sheer confusion upon her features before she decided it might be best to take control of the situation just a little.
"No, Ira... I think we ought to find Aiolos first? Didn't Iphis say that if we startle them they might cut us? I think bringing knives with us might startle them and I frankly don't want to be cut."
She tapped a hind foot gently on the ground, showing her displeasure with the thought of being cut without actually being mean about it. In fact, she was quite clearly more afraid than angry.
"Your "Auntie Minh's" labs sound...somewhat dangerous, but if you think that's where everyone is than we ought to check there briefly before going into the laundry room, yes?"
An's eyes lit up like jewels when Aderlass displayed his abilities to him, setting the flame on fire with nothing more than his bare hands. The canine's tail thumped heavily, his ears perked forward and the faintest traces of his usual wolfish grin leapt upon his features. An had always been fascinated by fire, always. To a point where he'd gotten into a great deal of trouble as a pup for lighting things on fire.
At least his parents had noticed that enough to reprimand him... Ah well.
But Aderlass's abilities were far more than just simple parlor tricks or matchbook trouble making... No, they were genuine flames that he himself could muster up. Which apparently had not been all too fun for him in the past, but now? Boy what An wouldn't give to do the same.
"I... Well that's mighty impressive." The canine stated bluntly, tail still swaying to and fro but with a more thoughtful air than pure excitement. "Gloves in summer doesn't sound at all too pleasant, but at least y' can control it now."
An glanced to the bipedal equine that had been looming silently nearby. Whip thought the Courts were a good idea too, they both did, and Aderlass said it'd be a 'special pleasure'. No one else had ever expressed an interest in him like that... Well, of course, aside from his usual customers. They always found it a 'special pleasure' but for entirely different reasons. Soon his confident grn returned in a flush and his eyes lit up once more as his tail began to thump lightly against the seat of the chair in pure canid pleasure.
"Alright. You both have me sold then! If I can make something out of this parlor trick o' mine. I'll join."
