Rai swore under his breath, and that caused another coughing fit. "Don't kill him yet," the words grated out of his throat. "He's got Shin."
This probably wouldn't make a great deal of sense to Elias, but Rai was forced to pause again as he coughed some more. That was freakin' annoying. He felt the whip's concern, but there really wasn't much he could do about it just then.
"Odex, come here." Rai put out his right hand, confident that El's 'pet' would do as he said. He needed someone to brace off of and to lead him until this bloody light was out of his eyes and the smoke out of his lungs. "Turn this bloody thing off!" he ordered the Lowlander. The words devolved into yet another fit of coughing.

"He must have made you high. Shin. Is. Dead," Elias explained as calmly as one in his situation might be able to. He tightened his grip on the Lowlander's wrist, willing the bones to snap. Odex had already gotten a hold of him, something El took dark pleasure in.
Reason was slowly beginning to return. Elias could use this, somehow, but first he would make the Lowlander release his family. The stress of the past few weeks and anticipation hadn't helped his patience or temper any.
Seeing Silas still writhing on the ground, trying his bravest best not to cry, and the smoke and light hovering about Whip's face, he again tightened his grip, trying to force his opponent to look at him. "Release the boy, and turn off the special effects. He didn't tell me not to torture you," Elias reminded the dog.
Odex did as he was told, dripping blood in his wake as his fur started to get wetter and wetter. He stood between Queen Shinrai and the Lowlander, alert and intense.

Zeus showed his teeth, a lot growl rumbling deep in his chest, but, really, what choice did he have? With a shrug he released the 'special effects' so the infidel Queen could see and breathe and the little over-powered kid could get over the pain. Whatever. He was outnumbered and overwhelmed right now, but they wouldn't be laughing if he had his pack with him.
He smiled at the canine again, amused that he'd gotten the stupid horse to come to his side, even if the man had thought to kill him to release the ghost. Not that such an action wouldn't work; Zeus really had no idea. He'd never bothered to try and find a ghost specialist; he'd never had a reason to. The child ghost was an inconvenience, not a major problem. "Yah, as a matter of fact, he is dead," the Hellhound replied with a smirk. "He's been dead a long, long time."
Shin bared his ghost teeth at his murderer, but he was trying to follow the conversation with limited success and therefore did not add anything.

Rai's ears followed the sound of Odex's footsteps and he rested a hand carefully into the black and purple fur so he had some point of reference. The whip he de-summoned so both of his hands would be free. He was coughing again when the sphere of light and smoke finally vanished and it took a few more moments for his lungs to clear out.
When they did he glared balefully at the Lowlander even as he delighted in the sight of El pinning the pistard. His voice was low with disabuse when he snapped, "He's the one who killed Shin. Somehow he bound Shin to him." He trembled with the need to break the Lowlander's nasty rot-covered neck. "I should rip off your other ear," he snarled. MEmories from that time threatened to come back, but he forced them away. He couldn't take the chance of being distracted, not when they first needed to slice the dog up into little bits to find out how to free Shin.

Silas whimpered at first, and then growled at the Lowlander. That had HURT! He was positive, now. If all Lowlanders were like that, he didn't like them either. He couldn't make himself go closer to the Doberman that his Father was handling, so he moved closer to Queen Rai and Odex.
Odex continued guard Rai, but expanded his posture and attention to guard the little Jack, as well.
Elias snorted. "Drop your dagger, and I'll consider letting you go, for now." As if there were any question that the doberman could walk around with dagger bared. El would continue to hold him until he complied.
"You think this Lowlander knows anything about binding ghosts? I doubt it. Maybe you can replay what happened later, get to the truth of the matter. How's that sound, Whip?" Elias would volunteer, as well. He was pretty sure he could pull the needed information if necessary, though he'd never tried it on a Queen before. "Only one needs to be worried about it is him right now, Shinrai."

Zeus glowered at the dog when he was ordered to drop his weapon, but, hey! Being crushed to little bitty bits was definitely not conducive with him taking over this bloody Court and making it worthwhile. Zeus refused give away all of his tricks however, though he didn't want to just drop Demise to the floor. It seemed rude to do so to his trusty weapon, but it was that or survival.
Survival won.
"Fine," he said offhandedly, dropping the weapon and forcing himself to not flinch when it hit the floor. "There ya go. Feel better now that I'm unarmed?"
"That's not fair!" Shin protested at Zeus, even though he knew the Hellhound would only mock him. "Your weapon is summonable! It doesn't matter if you just drop it."

He turned his mind to Elias' point and debated internally about it. "Maybe not on the ghosts. But he still might know more about it than we do." Might. That was El's point and he agreed fully for all the good it did. He wasn't willing to gamble with his brother's not-life.
Rai, of course, listened when his brother spoke, and he was terribly relieved to hear the protest the boy voiced. "It's a summonable weapon," he informed Elias, trying to keep the weariness out of his voice. Fortunately, it still sounded horrible from his coughing fit; that should cover the tiredness he was experiencing.
He sighed and moved forward. "If we want to see it, then we'd have to do it now. I'm not going to touch that thing for long and certainly not more than once."

"Oh, you're really smart, aren't you?" Elias said. In a card from any other region he would think a little better of the tactic, but it only irritated him coming from a Lowlander. "I really hope you try something with your dagger there," Elias said.
To Rai he said, "I wouldn't waste the effort. Your King will be able to tell us anything we need to know, or at least direct us to someone who does know." Elias didn't want to betray Bernard to this scum, no telling what he would do. Of course, Bernard knew a lot of magic, it might be interesting to see what would happen. But no, loyalty came before hatred for El. Usually.
He dropped the Lowlander and backed off, keeping his eyes on the man. He still had two uses of his Queen ability left, and would make good on his promise to bury the filth if anything should go down.

Zeus just barely resisted the urge to snarl at the ghost when he just blurted out his secret. What he couldn't figure out, however, was why exactly the ghost wasn't just telling his brother all of Zeus' secrets. Really, that would have been far more logical.
When the infidel revealed the information to the Queen Club, the Hellhound simply smirked and let Demise vanish back to the other plane. Someday he would be able to speak to the dagger and find out just what it was like where it went.
Shinjou snorted when Zeus unsummoned his dagger, and went right back to worrying over his brother. Things looked good for Rai right now, but he didn't doubt that the canine had another trick up his sleeve. But what could it be?
"Why don't you just talk directly to him?" the packleader said with a smirk when the dog dropped him, trying to make it sound like he knew why, even though he did not. He stared at the infidel as Shin turned to stare at him in confusion. "Afraid your precious brother wouldn't want to talk to you? You did leave him to die." Maybe he could still get his dagger into the infidel's wizened heart.

Rai made a noncommittal sound to El's plan; he wasn't entirely certain if Bernard would know much about ghosts, though he was quite the magical expert. Also, he wanted to kill the son of a right now. He cleared his throat uncomfortably as he moved closer, making Odex come with him.
He stared at the now free Lowlander with some disgust. "We should clap him in irons and throw him in the dungeons," the stallion began, but Zeus' question made him grow still for a long moment.
His eyes strayed to his brother and the ghost was watching him worriedly. But though he could see them and he'd learned to listen for them, he still couldn't talk to them. For a moment, it seemed like Zeus knew exactly why he didn't, but the question of fear broke it. Instead of growing angry again, Rai gave a low snort. "You're still an idiot."
