It was a long journey to reach this point, and during that time there had been some changes in the group. Most were minor in view of how the group interacted-- though Obadiah had been forced to smack down a few of the members a time or two-- but for their long term goals, it was wonderfully helpful that Zeus, their leader, had hit Queen on the way. The Doberman eyed the Palace with a mixture of both disgust and longing. His ear twitched as someone approached him and quickly wiped it off of his face. He felt the presence besides him and a snarl slipped naturally over his features. The ghost curled his tail around him and, for once, said nothing scathing. It would serve the freakin' dog right if he did, but something felt wrong. Well, not wrong. Momentous. Something felt. . . momentous.

Obadiah walked up behind and to the right of Zeus, missing the change in expression. He cleared his throat and spat with distaste at the sight of the palace. "Anybody that lives in digs like this is soft. The only people that raise a hand are the guys that mow the lawns and stuff like that. Maybe if we have to fight them, it'll be trouble." It was obvious Obadiah thought this to be an extremely unlikely possibility. "We're going to own this place in a week if the infidel's still sittin' on the throne." He walked to the nearest hedge. This softy, cushy palace made him want to retch. Part of him hoped that, if ever he should visit the Club's palace, it would be a little rougher, and a lot less decadent. He didn't know the words that fit the concept, though. He just knew that, especially with his lack of experience with anything like the manicured hedges and lavish colors, he didn't like it. "Well, let's go in," he said moving toward the door. Zeus didn't usually mind when he did that. Obadiah suspected Zeus didn't raise a fuss about this because if the German Shepherd went through first, he would get hit by any traps or attacks first as well. That would have made Obadiah indignant if it didn't mean he got to bust heads first.

Trix couldn't stand the choking scent of roses. They seemed to pervade every area of the court and they positively made her nose itch. Regardless of that, she kept from sneezing or making a show of herself as she followed loyally behind Zeus. This was it, they'd arrived at the Court of Hearts and Zeus (not to mention Obadiah) looked ready to storm the fortress. Trix still wasn't 100% on how the outcome of this attack was going to go -- in her professional opinion, it didn't look good -- but she'd follow Zeus regardless. A fight was a fight, and this was undeniably going to be a damned good one. Just to be on the safe side, of course, Trix was more than happy to let Obadiah storm in first. He'd set off all the alarms, if there were any, and knock in the heads of the first wave of... whatever they'd be dealing with. Trix sneered, but her tail swung behind her with slow pleasure of the anticipated war to come.

Mirek was casting his gaze about, sticking close to the rest of his pack, taking in the surroundings and trying to spot any sort of tricky threat that might be lurking about. He wanted this to go off well, of course, both to see the Queen of Hearts take a grand, deadly fall, and the ensure that their own rotting hides stayed secure enough to their bones as they ever were. He did not intended for his life to end in some rose bush of the Highlands; that would just be embarrassing. It was a wretchedly strange place--one might get used to its cloying scents and lush scenery if one dedicated the time, but frankly he had no desire to. The only thing he really felt was the burning anticipation to get this show on the road, so they could do their business and have done with it. Infidel displaced. The lands purged. Mission accomplished.

He really loved adventures! They were the best thing created in all of the Lowlands. As they had left the hometown Trot had taken to playing one of his favorite games of 'I see', each time choosing a different member of their team to have guess what it was that he had chosen. As they had gotten farther and farther away, the landscape had provided more and more for him to choose from. He could play the game forever! Long tail had been the best about playing along and after a few blows from toothpick and Zeus he had given a small pout accompanied with a pout before wondering off to hang out with Trix. The mix was just starting on another round oblivious to the fact that Trix was to a great degree ignoring him. "I spy - " He was abruptly cut off as he ran into the furred from of his team mate. Tilting his head to the side he took in the surroundings. "Zeus bought us a pretty house!" He exclaimed in a tone that was louder than necessary.

This was supposed to be his day off, and he'd been taking night shifts ever since his little mishap with the geneticist.... but the feline who's shift it actually was had taken a fall and broken one of his legs. Weren't felines supposed to be... graceful and always land on their feet? Apparently not. He still got a few odd looks from people who were seeing the four new spiked, chitin covered limbs growing from his back ... but he was starting to get used to that. Maybe he'd even be able to muster up the will to go to the Capitol and visit Lachlan? Because of the how late he'd been informed that he was the only one available to take the now open shift he was a little late to get to his post and never even made it all the way there before he caught a bit of movement from the corner of his eye. The fur along his spine bristled as the brown registered, there was filth on the doorstep of the palace! He puffed himself up to look more impressive then he normally was, stiffed out his tail and marched boldly toward the... four some? Suits they were like cockroaches! Halt! There is no place here for your kind!

Zeus let Obadiah take a few steps beyond him before announcing, "We're not killing anyone. Not yet." They had to figure out what was going on in the Court before they did.
Of course, their first interaction with the Court of Hearts almost changed his mind. He gave a harsh laugh at the tiny thing that dared to challenge the Hellhounds. He sneered at the chipmunk, striding up besides the Shepherd and letting his chest display his right to be there.
"Well, well, well," he said with a chortle. "Looks like we found ourselves a squeaky toy." Though there was something weird sticking out of the back of the thing. He didn't really pay it any mind, however; he was far more interested in looking around the Court than dealing with a minor inconvenience.

Obadiah made his few steps forward, fighting the urge to bristle and snarl like a kid at the Josiggy filth's challenge. Served him right whatever was coming out of his back. Maybe Obadiah would break it off.
"Oh, no, boys. It's a big strong Ten. We better do what he says, and not tear him apart and play in what he's stuffed with. No, wait, I like that better." Obadiah knew that Zeus would either just continue on his own, unchallenged except for being a Lowlander, so it wouldn't hurt to stay here and have some fun. "We got this, Zeus. Just don't go so far that you can't come talk another queen out of getting himself hurt trying to keep the rabble out."
He eyed the little chipmunk with a mixture of amusement and disgust. "Trot, play with your new friend," Obadiah said, chuckling. He'd see how annoying the little chipmunk wanted to be.

Mirek eyed the chipmunk hungrily. It was higher in rank than he was, of course, but he had the benefit of being part of a very elite pack--the thing was a Josiggy rodent besides. And he was more than a little famished. You were never quite full in the Lowlands. If he ate people, he might think that the plump little morsel in front of him would look good smothered in a nice bourbon sauce.
But, as it stood, he was not a cretin like the Marshies. If Trot didn't manage to kill the thing with the sheer force of his retardation, Mirek thought he might give "playing" with him a go--he was getting into this mission, finally. Zeus would call for backup if he needed it. They just couldn't let themselves get too distracted by it.
He grinned at the little chipmunk, and then at his brain-damaged companion. "Yeah," he said. "Have at."

(( Wanting to get this down. xD; Vyn, go ahead and post whenever you can. <3 The HHs will have a fun little fight with Jarvis in addition to this other thing. ))
Zeus left the altercation behind him; if his pack couldn’t handle one little chipmunk then they didn’t deserve to run with him. In any case, Obadiah could keep it from going too far. Which, of course, meant that all of the Hellhounds would survive. Other than that, he didn’t care.
Shin’s ears flattened and he didn’t really hesitate to follow his murderer. It was strange to think that this was where his suit lived. He and Rai had once spoken about joining the Courts; but who would accept two little runaways? Pipe dreams, perhaps. Certainly old, moldy dreams now; dreams that died all those years ago.
Zeus strode boldly into the castle; now that the challenge by the guard had been issued by the little Ten, he feared no one here. For this reason, anytime anyone even tried to approach the canine showed his snarling face and let his rank speak for him. No one tried to stop him even when he found a door that seemed to lead outside towards plants and not rooms.
