Thalia gave Tosiek a reassuring smile. "I'm fine. You look a little dusty and...squinty." She inspected him. He seemed otherwise okay...Nothing life-threatening that couldn't be treated later. She frowned. "If you think you're all right, I think we'd better find Eir and get out of here before someone else decides we'd make a good experiment."
She looked back at the trap door and felt a little sting of guilt--she really hoped the woman hadn't gotten turned into a crispy critter. Then she swung her attention to the space where she thought a door might be. She didn't see anything beyond it. Just lots of wooden counters with lots of bizarre equipment perched atop them. Thalia would not be surprised if it took twelve of the machines out there to beat one egg.
"It looks clear...Let's get out of here."

Eir very carefully remained perfectly still. Now that the charade had begun, he would do his best to play it through to the end. After ten minutes, he still hadn't moved, his breath slow and rather shallow. He felt rather like he was about to hyperventilate, but he would need the oxygen rush if his plans came through for him as he hoped.
The Corvie tried to poke at him through the bars, but he still didn't move; though he desperately wanted to snap off the man's hand. After another fifteen, the Corvie was finally getting concerned. He cursed under his breath, putting down his notes, before pulling out the key and opening the cage door.
Eir didn't move, not yet. Only after the Corvie leaned over him to the stallion burst into motion. He slammed the strange-looking bipedal into the bars, and received a satisfying snap for his troubles. He whirled expertly and slammed his hooves into the man. In fact, he slammed his feet into the man over and over and over until the Corvie was little more than a pulp in the cage.

Tosiek nodded to the girl's words. It was very wise on all counts. "Maybe," he said quietly. "You can be a 'native' and I can be your assistant? Experiment?" He had never been to Corvistowne before and so far he really wasn't impressed. If anything he was well on his way to never wanting to come here again. He shook his head; this wasn't the time for such thoughts anyway.
He wasn't entirely certain he wanted to go rescue Eir; in his mind, this whole situation was really rather the teenager's fault. Still, if he knew Thalia at all, he knew that she wouldn't leave any member of her family. Though that was another point of confusion for the skunk hybrid. He was fairly certain the two weren't actually related at all.
He pushed the door open and was pleased to see that it did, indeed lead to the outdoors. "Which way?" he asked.

"No idea," Thalia said, cheerfully. Corvistowne was a vast network of underground labs--some of them were probably connected, a lot of them not, and she personally trusted the architecture about as much as she trusted a grinning man with a knife standing right behind her. They knew what the woman who bought Eir looked like, but they knew bugger-all about her son, who presumably now had her big, pink and scary half-brother.
She didn't know whether stealth or a lying disguise was the right way to go. A lot of people had been at their meeting and little auction. How many people now knew of them? How many people did they tell?
Stealth would be difficult given Thalia's natural clumsiness and their unfamiliarity with the layout of the labs. They would just have to lie and hope that Corvies were not huge gossipers. They must get new experiment subjects all the time, after all. How big of news could Tosiek and Thalia be?
"Okay then, you're my subject. Let's start looking for Eir."

"Santuen?" A female voice called through the door. "I heard a noise; is everything all right?"
Eir bared his teeth in some semblance of a smile and called back, "As a matter of fact, no. Everything is not all right." He then proceeded out of the laboratory to show her just how not all right things really were.
It didn't take long. It was a small family and he only ate some of the mother in retribution for buying him in the first freaking place. He licked his lips as he stepped out of the house, trying to get at least some of the blood off of his face, though he couldn't easily reach the splatter that covered his left jawbone and went down his neck. Ah, well. Maybe it would help discourage any would-be heroes.
Eir's ears flipped backwards. Or, perhaps it would make some would-be heroes. He'd be happy either way.

Tosiek swallowed hard and tried to pretend that he wasn't scared out of his feathers. He had to be brave! Not to be a man for Thalia, but just to keep up with her. He shook himself once then followed after the girl as they stepped out into the dingy and dirty streets of Corvistowne.
He wondered exactly which city they were in and how far into the region they were. It might be a real hassle getting back out of the stupid place. Corvistowne was now very high on his list of places he never, ever, ever wanted to return to.
The first hint of commotion was ahead of them and Tosiek slunk closer to the girl in hopes of avoiding attention as a free-thinking Card of his own. There were shouts and someone raced by them the other direction. Tosi twisted his ears to catch the words through the panic. Something about people being dead and. . . partially eaten?! The skunk mix's stomach turned.

For hitting 101 posts, you both receive a special prize!
Aged Arrow Feather: This feather looks like it may once have belonged to a pigeon and attached to an arrow. It crackles a little and every now and then, glows. When touched by an SD it will discharge one power before becoming a normal feather again.

Eaten! Devouring people certainly seemed like a very Eir thing to do. Thalia walked forward cautiously and curiously, paying little mind to the people running in the opposite direction. She and Tosiek should be safe. She recognized none of these people, so likely they didn't recognize her or Tosiek either.
Time to be a good Corvie! She reached out a tentacle and snagged one of the fleeing people.
"What," she said, "is all this then?"
The man's eyes were full of panic. "P-p-p-pink!" he said, stammering. "F-ferocious! K-kill us a-all!"
Yeah, that sounded like her brother all right. Thalia let him go. The man stumbled and continued fleeing. Right then. Her brother had eaten people. She grimaced, feeling a little ill. All of her big brothers were bonkers....
She continued forward. Half of her just sort of wanted to stop and leave Eir there and flee with Tosiek. Eating people....
"Eir!" she called. "Eir, it's bye-bye time!"

He liked heroes. More than that, however, he enjoyed those who were so afraid you could taste it. They were certainly his favourites. He thoughtfully licked his lips, tasting the blood that coated them and, well, a great deal of his face and body now. He leaned his head down to nose at the hand lying still on the ground. His ears twisted around when he heard his name.
Only one possible brat could be associated with that voice because none of his other siblings were so retarded as to go wandering around in Corvistowne after being captured and sold for experimentation.
Actually, that was entirely untrue, when he paused to think about it. Probably all of his siblings were dumb enough to get caught and sold. Which made it all the more amazing that it had happened to him. His ears flattened against his skull, but he moved towards the sound. At the very least he could use them as a distraction to get back to the Court or, at least, the Capital.

The man's reply was so not conducive with calming Tosiek down. His ears went back for a moment and he glanced up towards the bleary sky as though asking for help and patience. When he looked back down, Thalia's blurry outline was moving away and he darted after the girl in a near panic; he couldn't afford to lose the colour-marked shape of Thalia, especially since so many others here were mostly black.
He squinted as something pinkish came into view, but there was something definitely wrong about it. What were all those red marks, for example? It looked like it could have been Eir, except for all of that red. Right about then, the smell hit him.
"HOLY LIGHT," the hybrid exclaimed. "What have you done?" For him it was a valid question; he couldn't see the dead bodies lying just up the street a ways, though he knew there was stuff there. He just couldn't make it out.
