Tosiek was more than a little impressed that his friend held such sway over The Queen of Hearts; sure, she'd occasionally prattled on about know the Marshdweller stallion, but sometimes Tosiek didn't always completely believe wot she told him. He should now, though, because this was yet another incident where her meaning behind the words, at least, was completely true, even if her path to their explanation was a bit confused.
When Rai offered to meet them later, Tosiek was pleased. They could explore around the Palace some now first and they wouldn't be hindered by constant adult supervision. Adults, Tosiek had long ago decided, were, as a whole, rather stupid. They fixated on certain ideas-- like family time-- and nothing would distract them from their course of utterly ruining their family's plans. He certainly disliked his own family enough to know that. The Court of Diamonds wasn't half as interesting as the Court of Hearts right now.

Thalia was pleased enough by this response. She was sure that Queen Rai would follow up on his promise; he wasn't like Mom, who told her that she would bring her to Court to have fun but always left her home and brought her cake later, thinking that it made everything better. (It did, for the most part. Mom make delicious cake.)
And in the meantime, she and Tosiek would have plenty of time to run around the Courts looking for explosives and having fun. This was turning out to be a very good day. If they could stay away from her brother the entire time, it would be even better.
"That sounds great!" she chirped. "So I'll come by later, yeah? Thanks for seeing me, Rai. I missed you. Um. You too, Eir. Always...always fun." She grinned at Tosiek. "C'mon, Tosiek! We need to go exploring."

Eir's ears went back at the conversation; all of these people were a complete and useless waste of time. He hated them. If he could afford to kill them, he would. He shifted his weight as the pair continued their banter and finally the two children were going to wander off and out of the way. Actually, that was fairly useful. For once, that was useful. He wanted to follow them and find out a bit more about this strange little birdie who looked a little yummy.
His father, however, looked prepared to hold him here until forever. His ears flattened as he tried to think of a good way to escape, but there'd be no quick 'I'm so sorry; can you ever forgive me?' this time.
Still, he was suddenly saved as a cat took advantage of Thalia and Tosiek's exit to dart. "Your Majesty! There's another one!" Eir quickly used the fuss to slip out.

Rai's ears went backwards as the feline came scurrying in and he tried to make sense of her frantic words until he finally figured out wot she was going on about. #*$&! Grey-green eyes went swiftly towards his son, only to discover that the yearling was gone. The door slid softly closed as the other equine made good his escape while the cat had kept him distracted.
He cursed long and hard in his head, but now he needed to deal with this new problem. He just prayed Eir wouldn't get himself into further trouble until the stallion could take care of this one. Actually, no, he just really wanted his children to stop getting into so many bloody messes! Rai slammed his good fist into his desk, making the girl jump and give a rather rodent-like squeak.
"Show me," he finally said flatly, and made her lead the way.

Tosiek allowed Thalia to usher him out of the study, though he stared in surprise when the feline rushed by him. He couldn't quite catch her message, but she was definitely upset and it sounded like it was rather important.
Still, the Corvis hybrid had him moving along and he, of course, followed after her. He would always follow the girl's lead. The boy was unaware of Eir's exit from the room, instead his attention was caught on their surroundings as Thalia led them on as though she belonged there.
Not that it was entirely unexpected that she should act as though she knew her way around throughout a place she'd never, or at least rarely, been to before. Though she was still trying to get through doors she couldn't.
"Thalia, look out!" That one wasn't an open door either. He winced when she smacked into it.

They had not yet found the fireworks, and Thalia's face was really hurting; her left eye was almost completely swollen shut, and the last thing she needed was less depth perception. Tch. She needed to pay more attention to whether the space she was walking through was just a passageway, or a real door, but she tended to forget herself when she was excited. And Thalia was excited about something most of the time.
"Okay, new plan," she announced. "We need to ask someone to take me to a medic so they can fix my face. Maybe you can ask about the gunpowder, yeah yeah? All secret and clever-like, as you do. If I poke about it they'll know and throw me in jail and cut out my heart."
She had no idea what the Court of Hearts did as far as standard diciplinary measures were concerned, but the vicious removal of organs seemed plausible. Hearts were strange that way. Diamonds had a lot of figurative back-stabbing; Hearts had a lot of literal back-stabbing.

"I know where the medic is." The low, smooth voice seemed to fill the hallway completely. Eir slunk forward, pausing before the younger kids in something like a show pose. The action seemed entirely unconscious. "Would you like to know the way?"
He had on his sincere face, something he'd begun practicing on that fateful day back in the face. He was sincere and sympathetic; he had turned over a new leaf.
Inwardly he cursed the pair of kids even as he planned to use them somehow. He wasn't quite certain how just yet, but he was going to need to get the murders shifted off of him and onto someone else. Unfortunately, while there were a great many of crazies in the Court of Hearts, it was difficult to implicate them. Many of the Court were rather wily.
"It's a bit of a ways, but not too far," he encouraged them.

The skunk-bird hybrid jumped when the equine suddenly appeared and he inched closer to his bleeding and beat-up friend; safety in numbers, and all that. His ears turned backwards as he tried to fight off the uneasiness he felt about Eir's close presence. Maybe it was just Thalia's initial discomfort around the teenager that had his own fur and feathers up in concern.
Nevertheless, the equine did know the way to the medic; or so he said. They didn't necessarily have another way to find any healer at all. He turned to glance uneasily at Thalia; it would, after all, have to be her choice. It was her body they needed to get checked out, though he would feel better if they could find a medic or someone to help her out. Poor girl.
So he waited for the King to say whether or not she wanted to trust the half-brother she didn't seem to usually like.

"Okay," said Thalia, cautiously. Her brother's earlier creepiness seemed to have vanished entirely, leaving behind an entirely different person. A nice, helpful person, who did not at all look like he wanted them dead. She petted Tosiek absently with a tentacle. She thought they might be safe, for now. But then Thalia was a poor judge of character, so perhaps they would have roasted over an open fire shortly, or cooked into a kiddie-pie.
She let her brother lead them to the medic, who looked quite alarmed and asked who had beaten the snot out of her. "No one," she sang. "I'm just a klutz. I'm glad nothing's broken. Thanks for fixing my face."
The medic gave a wary nod and sent them on their way. As long as Eir was being helpful, she said, "Um...do you happen to know where the Court keeps their fireworks?"
