Ophelia could not...keep this conversation going.
The girls were delightful, she was enjoying their enthusiasm, but she herself was not willing to linger in the conversation. Her muscles were clenched with frustration and that shadow kept creeping back into her eyes. The last thing she wanted, however, was to take her anger out on the girls that had done nothing wrong.
"You are very welcome, dear, I hope you enjoy it." The Corvistownien rose to her hooves, smiling down at the girls and, briefly, at Severus as well. That friendly air remained in tact, but it was strained. "Do tell your father I appreciate his admiration." Were she more in the mood she would've discussed genetics with the girl. "I'm afraid, however, that I can't stay. I've got an appointment to keep."
Her yellow-green orbs flicked to Severus and laid upon him hard. "Take care, Severus. I wish you well in your pursuits..." Ophelia sighed softly before turning away abruptly. "Please, write me if you achieve your ends or if you find any breakthroughs in your studies, I would like to know."
With that she left promptly. Tea had already been paid for, the girls could continue to enjoy their cups.
Parvana was speechless. What on earth had happened? Well, she knew...she had witnessed it all, but she hadn't realized just how upset Ophelia was until the tense female up and left the area. She blinked a few times and then slowly looked over to Dilis and then up to Severus, but she said nothing.

Prelude perked up from across the way. His interest was always piqued rather easily. He blinked slowly from being quite fatigued. It had been some time since he had sleep, since he was the adventurous type, even from a young lad. "Hi!" he chimed in, walking slowly on all fours to the place where the congregation occurred. "Couldn't help but hear the commotion. I'm kind of new around here, so I was just hoping to meet some of the locals. Mind if I join you?" He looked at the interesting butterfly, whose name he didn't quite catch. "Per..Parahna, was it?" He could not have spelled it if you asked him to, even besides the fact that it was wrong. He had hoped that the beautiful, rare creature could pick up on his joke which was intended to be taken in a light-hearted manner. He stretched all four of his limbs as he approached the table. "You'll have to excuse me if I'm a bit incoherent, it's been about a two days since I've had any decent amount of sleep, you know."

For the most part, Dilis had ignored Severus' attempt at a snark at her. She was sad however that Ophelia had chosen to leave; she was really beginning to enjoy her conversation and she had so many things she wanted to ask... Dilis looked back at Parvana in silent distress. "Oh dear, well I hope you enjoy your day Ophelia" and with that, Ophelia was gone.
Without time to recover really, a canine walked over. "Well hello to you as well. Sure you can join. what might your name be, sir?" She was glad for the reprieve to having to come up with something to say to Severus though. The canine however only seemed to be interested in Parvana... *sigh* why does this always happen... he was cute and she had kind of wished he had spoken to her instead first. She would be gracious though and not pout because that would be terribly unlady-like.

Severus' snakish nostril's flared and snorted, making a short flat sound, as his mother began to leave, saying goodbye to everyone as politely as her angry demenor would allow her. He did not smile, he wasn't angry, indeed, he had more of a stoic look as his mother got up and began to start leaving. He didn't make any motion to stop her or to appologize. He simply watched, and when she finally adressed him and wished him well in his pursuits, he snorted again, "I'm sure you do."[/b] was his only responce to that, though he had thought up some rather nasty things to say on the spot, though he felt a subtle snide remark would do fine. He knew in the end she was saying that to keep appearences with the ladies. His mother had never supported his court persuits...there was no reason she suddenly did. Simply to acknowledge he knew she didn't give a crap was enough. Or not that she didn't give a crap, but that she wasn't being very supportive about it. With that he let her leave...or say whatever else she wanted without even so much as a glance her way as he poured himself more tea.
He barely had time to recover from his rage when a Canine Selkie Laker approached. He reminded him of Igal, though far less rat-like, and with far more blue, which was normal for most Selkies. Igal had inherited a rarer greenish turqoise...and even rarer was a serpent that often visited the palace, who had purple. That was the first time he had ever seen purple on one before. Oh how he loathed Capital City...everyone just loved to be in everyone's buisness....though he supposed that was the nature of being social. Though at the moment he was enjoying his tea to much to want to leave. He would when it got unbarible...which seemed just around the corner....Now not only was he annoyed by Dilis...but he had this...Prelude character to worry about. "Such things happen from time to time,"[/b] Severus said to the dog's comment on lack of sleep...though with no real meaning behind it, other then to show the displeasure he was feeling with his tone.
He looked over at Dilis...who looked like she had decided it was her duty to say something to him on Ophelia's behalf. So incredible. She didn't even know his mother...didn't even know him...and she thought that she could chide him? HA! That would be wholesome entertainment that would leave her in tears if she but tried. Though Severus was beginning to think he wouldn't be able to last long enough to get to that point...what with annoying people coming out of his ears. His ear flattened slightly, but perked back up when he could see Dilis looking slightly jealous about how friendly the dog was being with Parvana. He shook his head slightly, ah people and affections. They both seemed pointless.

Parvana was also sad to see Ophelia leave but she luckily lived a good deal closer to the woman than Dilis did. If need be she would stop by her lab and ask her some questions there. Indeed, that might even be easier. For now, however, she focused her attention on the new comer that had taken Ophelia's place and the company that had been with her upon entering the little tea shoppe.
Oh my, it was getting a bit crowded and there were bad feelings about. Hopefully this new canine could lighten the atmosphere a bit.
"Good afternoon, sir." She blinked a little at the attention she was given, her head tilting slightly to the side. Parvana never expected things like that. "Oh, uhm. It's Parvana, but you can just call me Vana." She glanced back, looking up at Severus and Dilis. "This is my friend, Dilis, and our companion is Severus. If Dilis and Severus don't mind, you're more than welcome to join us here."
Thanks to the arrangement at the table, Parvana was settled between Dilis and Severus -as was probably best- and that left the chair between Dilis and Severus on the opposite side open for the canine to join them.

Prelude was unsure of what to make of all the seemingly unsettling air around the table, but he figured it was best to not question it. He thought it best, in fact, to completely ignore it, and act oblivious. After all, he had no idea as to the nature of the conversation, which, to him, seemed somewhat tense indeed. He wagged his tail in his blissful ignorance and spoke, hoping that he could clear some of the tension, but still he understood that he needed to wait for permission before taking a seat. His lack of sleep may have made him a bit unable to articulate his words very well at this point, but he still had a grip on how to have manners.
He simply smiled, looked at the ones called Dilis and Parvana--that's what it was, Parvana--and said, "Well I appreciate the permission to join you; you seem like a lively enough bunch. Dilis? Severus? Is it okay with you?"

Severus had a terrible temperament and it just affirmed the fact that she did not particularly like him. He was rude to her even though she had tried to be nice to him at first. But now, he was being rude to the new Selkie canine and that was unreasonable.
"Yes of course, sit down... what is your name again? I am Dilis and it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance." Dilis scooted over further as she figured Severus would not and gave the canine room to sit.
"Please, come sit here if you like." She smiled her brightest, hoping he would chat her up some. "Do not pay any mind to Severus here, he does not have the patience to like anyone. In fact he is the type to dislike someone purely for the realm they hail from. Pitiful creature, that." She rolled her eyes at him and went back to smiling at the new canine. She was a lady but she was not about to let someone push her around, especially someone that had upset Ophelia.

Severus watched the interaction between Parvana and the canine. He simply bowed his head when he was introduced, there was really no need for him to say anything. Both females seemed intent on the canine staying, and since he was probably going to leave soon anyway, it seemed stupid to say anything against him being seated with them. Severus just wanted some tea, but he had no real attachments to the table otherwise. Afterwords he would head back to his lab...and continue his works.
He watched the dog's movements like a hawk. He was either very dumb, or trying his hardest to ignore the situation that he landed himself in. But seeing as he would like to have some faith in the world around him and its inhabitants, he chose to believe the dog was just trying to lighten the mood a little by not focusing his attention on what had happened.
Severus was about to verbalize that he didn't particularly care if the dog stayed or left when he heard the words that came from Dilis' mouth. The way he moved his serpentine neck so that his forward facing predatory eyes could look at her was alarming...or at least...it would be to Ophelia if she had stayed. Such a predatory gesture seemed odd on a mostly deer creature, and it would be the first time Ophelia saw anything like it. People changed drastically it seemed. Even stranger was what happened next.
He started laughing, nearly cackling at Dilis. "Pitiful? Did you actually have the audacity to call me pitiful? Oh....thats really rich.", he could barely get the words out with how violently he was laughing, of course...when he said the word rich, his tone completely changed. He stood, hands on the table so he could lean across so his face was right in hers. It could be pretty frightening...seeing as, while Severus was naturally rude...he was never usually this passionate or agressive about anything. "Since, I don't particularly feel like lying, it is true. I do purely dislike people for their realms...though Selkie Lakers aren't exactly anywhere on that list. But before you go saying thats a trait unique to myself, look around. EVERYONE hates one region for one reason or another. I don't know anyone that would like a filthy Lowlander for instance...Do YOU? I highly doubt it. Hell...my own FATHER dislikes Corvistownians. You can say I picked up the trait from him." His voice was as condecending as it had ever been, while also remaining even except for certain words he wanted to emphesize. For him to say that about his father ment he was truely angry, he didn't particularly like airing dirty laundry. It would also show his reason for loathing his father as much as he did, especially since it was established that Severus considered himself a Corvistownian and not a hybrid. "Oh but what have you learned from YOUR father, Dilis? To follow your dreams of becoming a scientist? OH YES! I forgot...he doesn't want that does he? He wants you to aspire to the courts even if its something you don't want. But You'll do it anyway because when it all comes down to it...your daddies little ASS KISSER." Now he was angry, a smirk upon his face. Knowing that even if it wasn't true...even if it was off the mark...she would be thinking about it at least. "You...my dear friend Dilis....are the Pitiful Creature in this circle. I am at least doing what I love...and aspiring for greatness because I WANT TO....And I'm even getting hell from my own mother for it. The only person I EVER really cared about. I DO have the paitence to like people....but people are SHIT. And if you havent realized that...then may the suits help you Dilis. Those who arent shit are the only people suitible for my friendship."
With that he bowed his head to both the canine and Parvana, "Enjoy your tea." He said nothing more....he really didn't listen to anything that was being thrown back at him. He was steaming...steaming because Dilis was the most infuriating person he had ever met not to mention...stupid, but because he had let such a being be the first thing for him to loose his cool on. He never lost his cool. He stamped off without a word.

Parvana, if it were possible for a butterfly, bristled. Her eyes widened, her body tensed, and she lifted up in her seat. She would not have this any longer! It was petty, it was foolish!
"Severus!"
Her tone sounded of finality, but he ignored it. He ignored it to carry on hemming and hawing and it didn't take her long to realize that he was too far gone to hear a single thing she said. The female's eyes glazed slightly and she sat once more, rigid and tense with disapproval.
To think, to think she was intrigued by him! She had invited him over even after he'd been such a sour puss! So he was having trouble, so things were hard...but did he have to be like that?! Parvana herself had just been orphaned and thrust into the world all at once and no one heard her complaining or being disagreeable! When the Jack turned to her, Parvana turned her head away and refused to meet his eyes. When he wanted to be more pleasant, she would give him the time of day again but until then she would not allow him to live this down.
Only once he was gone from sight or earshot did Parvana finally return her attention to the table. Or, more accurately, to Dilis. Was the poor feline alright? Severus had spat quite the mouthful at her and had given her no chance to defend herself. "Dilis? Are you alright?"
