This mysterious cauldron sits in the center square of the Outer Bazaar, mounted on a crumbling pedestal that may once have contained a statue...judging by the feet still jutting up from the stone base.
Though it always appears dry and empty, there are rumors that strange happenings occur every now and then when things are placed inside of it.
Residents of the Outer Bazaar tend to avoid it and warn people not to get too close...
Still, it's only a dusty, empty cauldron...
What harm can it do?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rules:
The mysterious cauldron exists to mix together objects you find you have no use for, but don't quite want to give up on the trading post.
Placing items into the cauldron will combine them in some fashion...and will always change them...
Sometimes dramatically, sometimes only slightly.
It will be checked and changed every once in a while, but, unlike it's counter-part (The wishing well), whatever you put into it, something will always come back out so long as you follow the rules below.
------------------------------------
1. Adult Cards and Jack Rabbits and Does may not be placed into the cauldron, nothing will happen and the items may simply vanish if this is tried anyway.
2. Items placed into the cauldron must be items you currently own. You may not make up items to use and if you are going to use a body part, it must be substantial.
Ex: a few hairs or a scale will not suffice.
As you will not be getting the item back in its original form ever again, make sure that this is something you are ready to part with as it will be changed. Possibly even in a way you don't like, or like less than the original.
Yes, you may purchase favors just to throw them in the cauldron.
3. The following form must be used in the post you make for the cauldron:
1. Items:
A.
B.
C.
D.
2. SD present:
3. Time of day:
There must be four items thrown into the cauldron.
If less are thrown in, everything will vanish and nothing will happen.
If more are thrown in, a die will be rolled at random to see which item simply disintegrates.
Item "D" must always be points, assigned or unassigned. You decide the value, you may even add just one, but the point value could dictate how much your item changes or how dramatically and unexpectedly they blend.
Items "A" must always be an actual board item, not hair, flesh, or NPC children/familiars/orobjects. This can be anything from birthday gifts to contest winnings, to thread count wins, to purchased favors.
Items "B" and "C" are yours to decide upon.
4. When posting up the items to be thrown in the cauldron, you must post all information that goes with said item.
I can't remember what the sock or pin you guys have does right off the top of my head, and some of you have very hard to locate item stashes.
5. Items may be re-submitted to the cauldron as many times as you like.
For example: You throw in a magical pair of gloves that give the owner a Club ability, even though they are a Diamond, with two purity favors and 50p. You get back out a pair of shoulder-length opera gloves that give the owner the power to force their own Rank 5-7 ability into the place of someone else's for a round (useful if fighting a Heart).
This is still not what you're looking for, so you toss the new item back in along with a Slithey Tove, a mutating potion, and 10p.
You can keep tossing this new item back in as many times as you like, no time limits.
6. Banders, Toves, and Momes may be thrown into the cauldron under items slots "A" or "C", be advised that what comes back out might not be a familiar, pet, or alive.
Yes, this does mean your Spade can throw its summon into the cauldron. <3
Yes, this will change its Rank 10 spell.
7. Bander tokens will be spat back out by the cauldron and may not be used.
8. Children that are not grown (no adult image) may be thrown into the cauldron in item slot "C".
It is not guaranteed that what comes back out will be alive or worth more than 50 points (though it is likely to be worth at least 100p.)
9. Hearts may throw their summoned weapons into the cauldron under item slot "C". This will either change their King's ability, update their weapon, or give them a "new" weapon.
10. Throwing another Dealer's baby into the pot must be done with permission of the other player as more often than not all items and creatures thrown in will make one new item.
11. Aces and Leverets (grown or no) may be thrown into the cauldron under item slot "C".
12. Yes, the cauldron can lower the "value" of the objects you've thrown in if the ratio seems ridiculous.
For example: If you threw in a Mome Rath, two ten point favors, and 1p; the cauldron might toss back out a tiny potion that guarantees that a Heart will have the poison immunity for their Jack's ability.
Whereas the Mome, all the fur from your SD's upper body, a pair of magical shoes, and 10p might do something entirely different.
Be bold, be strange...be creative and fun, and the pot will be fun back at you.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The cauldron sits innocently...awaiting the toys it will be gifted with to change for its own amusement.
