The lizard shook his head, giving Viviane a genuine smile. "No, no, you misunderstand.[/b]" he moved slowly, webbed toes clinging to the statue as he slowly clambered down, jumping to land on the edge of the fountain beside the serpent. The look on his face was completely honest, not at all what one would expect to see from a marshlander. "It's my treat. I'd like a chance to talk to you, but my stomach is.. Well, it's protesting the lack of food it's had lately.[/b]" The lizard chuckled softly, grinning slightly at Viviane.
His mind was quick, and he realized almost as soon as the words left his mouth that the serpent might be hesitant to accept his offer for fear of finding himself in the lizard's debt. "And when I say that it is my treat, I mean that. Don't feel you need to repay me later.[/b]" he said hastily, trying to show the snake that his motives were (for the time, at least) pure. Though he could not deny the attractiveness of the individual before him, his curiosity was far greater than his lust.

Viviane took a moment to think. There was part of him that was overjoyed. Did he finally have the makings of a friend outside the gang? Was this a genuine offer? And was this man really going to treat him? He had never encountered anything like this in his life. Sure...his life wasn't terrible inside the gang, but this was something good happening to him on the outside! For the first time he wasn't being completely looked down upon by a non-client and hell, the man might even become a friend! But there was also a part of him that was scared. What if he expected something from him and why was a Marshlander of all regions being nice to him? When the lizard made it clear that he didn't need to be repayed, his fears became severely limited compared to his excitement. It was only a matter of time before a smile and a nod were given to Damien, "That is very generous of you. I would love a chance to talk and eat with a potential friend."
He wondered if the lizard even really wanted to be friends. Maybe he was just intregued enough to want to spend a day in Viviane's company, and he didn't care to want to be around him anymore after that. Despite this, Viviane didn't see why he couldn't attempt to become friends with the lizard anyway. It was the least he could do for such a generous offer Damien had made. "Is there any place in particular your interested in going to? I suppose I have to warn you that I don't have the best of table manners....being a snake and all..." he said with a bit of an embarrassed grin. Snakes didn't really...'chew'...so much as...'swallow whole' things. This made eatting out, slightly difficult at best, but Viviane was determinded to do the best he could not to embarrass Damien and himself, and use what manners he did have in his posession.

Damien couldn't help but smile and feel that for once in his life, he might be making a positive difference for someone else. Immediately following that pride, however, there was a pang of guilt in his chest as he watched the snake's amazement. It was more than obvious that he was completely unaccustomed to such invitations. Most of the people who spent time with the lovely serpent only had themselves on their minds, and would likely put the poor creature through hell all for a release...
The lizard shook these thoughts from his head as he felt the heat of anger bubbling up thick inside of him. It should be a common courtesy to offer a lover a meal, regardless of why they might be one's lover... For the moment, however, his thoughts toward Viviane were not related to his own sexuality and instead focused in on doing something nice for the serpent. He was intrigued by the happiness that shone through on the scaly face of the other at his offer, and he could feel the starts of what could grow into a potentially wonderful friendship.
It had been a long time since he'd felt anything like it.
Damien laughed quietly at the snake's concerns, shaking his head. "Don't worry about that. I know of a place that has very good food, and would likely be more than capable of accomedating you.[/b]" The lizard looked up the street, nodding towards a rather elegantly decorated cafe near the main street. "The chef is a snake, you understand.[/b]"
(hope that's okay XD trying to sqeeze a quick reply in before class, argh)

Something made the lizard smile, maybe he actually was interested in being his friend? How delightful! Viviane was definately excited. He had never known anyone outside the gang in a friendly way, and he was looking forward to the new possibilities such a friendship would open up. Maybe even...eventually he could have a normal life? Was that even possible for someone like himself? He wasn't completely sure. Then Damien spoke of a place that would be able to accomidate him and he could barely believe it! There was actually a place that would take the time to make sure that he wouldn't make a complete barbarian of himself while eating? He was so full of excitment he could have exploded into tiny pieces of joy. The emotion was visible on his face.
"I have to admit, I'm excited and intrigued by this place you speak of. Do you know the chef? I've never known of a serpent chef before." his thoughts were a bit jumbled in his excitement, and he tried to calm down enough to hold a decent conversation. "What's the place called? I haven't lived here for very long, so I'm not completely familiar with the places around here yet...though maybe I passed this place by and just...never thought about it." He slithered off the ledge of the fountain and onto the warm cobblestone street where the sun hit it where it wasn't covered by stampedeing people. He looked around at all the people hustling and bustling about, and wondered silently how they both were going to get to their destination without being trampled. He had heard that the Capital always got very busy around festival times, but he never could have imagined this bustle.

Damien nodded in reply. "I do indeed know her. She and I are old friends, but we've grown distant. It should be fun to stop in and give her a rough time.[/b]" he shot the snake a lopsided grin. "Born with her bipedal form, you see, so she's always been a fan of cooking.[/b]" The lizard began to walk, glancing back at Viviane to indicate that the snake should follow closely. Being so low to the ground did make things difficult, but Damien was slightly taller than the snake and would be more easily avoided by the busy patrons of the town.
He motioned with his snout, whiskers pointed forward, at a small building on a corner. A majority of those dining sat outside, in the sun, chatting cheerily as they enjoyed their meals. A sign above the door proclaimed the place to be called "The Dragon's Scale", and there were several patrons that were clearly of reptillian origin. "That's the place. Shall we look the menu over, make sure that there's something that would appeal to your palate before we find a seat?[/b]"

Viviane gave a return nod, listening to the lizard's story with interest. A bipedal snake eh? Her parents must have been really happy with her. The thought made Viviane's mood drop drastically, but not wanting to show his inner thoughts, he quickly masked it with a smile. Maybe if he had been a little more special...and not just pretty...his mom wouldn't have made him the way he was. Maybe if he had truely been born a woman...things would have been easier. He sighed inside, there was nothing that could be done about any of that now. He thought instead of what a bipedal snake might look like. His parents had not been bipedal, and none of his siblings had been. Come to think of it...he didn't know if a snake could truely be bipedal. I mean....they didn't have legs! But he wasn't about to question what his new friend said, I mean...he KNEW this woman...its not like he would lie to him about somthing like that! Would he?
Viviane followed closely, keeping to the lizards side, almost touching him at times when he was trying to avoid being stepped on. It wasn't long before they reached the restaurant. "The Dragon's Scale" it read, and Viviane shook his head, signalling that he didn't recognize the place. How exciting! A new place to visit! He only hoped that some of his past clients wouldn't be around...how embarrassing would that be?! "We could, though I'm sure I'll find something...I've never been a very picky eater. That slot was always reserved for my mother." he gave a small smile before frowning. Evidently his family didn't make for good memories. Trying to hide the lapse in masking his emotions, he looked around, observing that the majority of the people eating were indeed reptile. How interesting! Reptiles were so rare! And here...it was as if it was a gathering place for them. "This place is very intreguing..."

Damien seemed to be completely oblivious to the serpent's fascination with the place - after all, it was one of his usual haunts, as it were. He moved with the kind of lazy grace that was typical of lizards, his tail waving slowly behind him, his large and webbed feet touching the ground with a steady pace. As he approached the counter, he reared up slightly, offering the bipedal feline that stood there a warm smile. The cat raised an eyeridge at Damien, glancing over the lizard's shoulder at the snake that was resting there. "Table for two, please. In the sun, if possible.[/b]" he glanced back at Viviane, whiskers extended slightly.
The cat gathered together two menus, motioning for the pair to follow him to a small table located in the sun. Damien settled in, sighing softly as the warm sunlight hit his body and began to glance over the menu. "Tell me about yourself, Viviane. I'm intruigued by you, and honestly, I find you to be rather beautiful." his grin widened, as he waited to see how the serpent would respond. He was beautiful, of course. The lizard wanted, in a way, to reach out and feel the horns that curved out of the snake's eye ridges.

Viviane followed closely by Damien through the many tables that lead up to the entrance of the restaurant, weary of people's feet. There were few around still in animal form, and yet others that were in bipedal. But most had feet that could easily step on his low to the ground body. Damien then spoke to a feline at a counter in the entrance of the restaurant, probably the only non-reptile in the place, save maybe for a few unseen cooks and some of the crowd that Viviane hadn't noticed. He promptly returned the lizards glance with a polite smile, and a bow of the head to the feline before it ushered them to their seats.
Ah, the sun. The feline had given them a rather nice spot, both in the sun and the shade, but realitivly heated either way. What a wonderful temperature the day was! Viviane couldn't help but look all around him, despite the menu that sat open for him to look through. His attention was caught though when Damien started speaking to him again. "Oh...thank you." he said, caught a bit of guard, and with a bit of a blush mixed in as well. He was often told he was beautiful, hell he knew it...though he didn't think of it. His beauty had only managed to bring him ill fortune thusfar. His mother, and his past clients had all told him that he was beautiful, but the phrase had been so corrupted, by either the events that took place or just the way in which they told him. Somehow...there was something nice about the way that Damien said it, something chaste. Like it was really true, and that nothing bad could come of it. He smiled a bit at the thought, but grew sad that he didn't have such a nice compliment to give back to his friend. Not that Damien was ugly...far from it, but he had seen so many Golfams....all had treated him poorly...and he wasn't sure what compliment there was to give him that wasn't rude..."hey...your nice for a Golfam" didn't seem to cut it.
"What is it that you would like to know about?" Viviane asked a little perplexed. No one really asked him about him...no body he met really had...like his past was some dark secret that they dare not ask about. No one really cared about finding out about him...maybe Roxanne...but that about covered it. He wasn't sure where to even begin.

There was a strange look that had appeared on Vivane's face at the lizard's compliment, and he picked up on it easily. Had his comment really been that much of a surprise? From the way the snake carried himself, Damien was sure that he was already well-aware of the beauty that he had. He had seen the bruises on the snake, and the way he had moved through the streets, trying desperately to avoid the feet that fell down upon him. It had sickened him to see, and he found himself wondering about other aspects of the snake's life. He was a whore, that much was obvious, and he was a good-looking whore... It made him wonder what other injuries the snake carried in secret. "You're welcome.[/b]"
Damien fell silent as he thought, glancing off to the side. He paid little attention to the feline waiter, he would know it when he approached the two to ask about food. He was unsure of how to phrase his question, without sounding rude or insensitive. "Someone in your position... Well, it seems that oftentimes, they aren't there because their lives are fine and dandy. I want to know if you are happy and healthy and treated well.[/b]" he made eye contact with the snake, his own eyes shining with a sort of feirceness. "Like I said. I find you beautiful, and beautiful things should be all of those things.[/b]"
