If Femi had any idea what they were discussing downstairs, she would have probably burst into tears and started throwing things at someone's head, preferably Hatter's. As it was, she glared at her daughter. "I met them already and I still think they're awful. You're wrong, Rosemary. You need to stay away from them."
So she wasn't the best on logic or avoiding circular arguments or back-tracking in her own conversations. She had Kazifel for things like that. Honestly, where did the girl get these ideas? Was her father spouting them off? She couldn't imagine him saying things like that to someone as impressionable as Rose... but she would have to ask him later and she if that was the case.
Thyme was thoroughly distracted in her play of flailing limbs and mechanics until she heard something about coming back and visiting again. She twisted her head and neck at an awkward angle to stare up at the weird human, getting a limb to the back and growling a little as she tried to figure out what had just happened. Whoa, was Daddy really going to let them back? "Mommy would never say yes," she chimed in unnecessarily.

If Hatter remembered correctly from childhood, that sounded like the sort of 'maybe' that actually meant 'no'. Especially since Hatter was acutely aware of how the Tulgey squirrel had reacted to his and Loreta's presence to begin with.
Hmm... Visiting the house again might not happen, but that was alright. Maybe they could meet elsewhere, Hatter wouldn't mind that (and he was certain it would upset Femi much less). Logically, though, he shouldn't mention that around youthful ears which might repeat such things. Maybe he could talk to Kazifel alone?
Lots of maybes.
And then, before he could speak, the little Highlander that had been enjoying Doorie's presence so abruptly spoke up. The Hatter nodded jovially and continued to smile. "That's quite alright, I wouldn't want to cause another stir like this... Perhaps we will have to work out a way that is less awkward... Invading privacy isn't something I like to do." His gaze traveled from the little wolf and up to Kazifel. "You can talk to your wife before we decide anything, of course."
Maybe the four of them aught to sit and discuss this all over a cup of tea? Tea. The Joker's expression became one of mild distraction, as if attempting to remember something forgotten. Absently, he reached into his pocket, fetching the silver watch there and checking the time.
How in the name of the Suits had he forgotten tea time? Oh yes, fixing Doorie and building Sage's Tove! He shook his head as if silently chastising his foolishness in forgetting something so important.
"I do believe we could use some tea... If you have any?" He glanced up at Kazifel again, smiling warmly. Where were his manners? "Perhaps we can talk over tea, I'm sure it would help everyone's tension?" Tea helped everything, and both Lore and Kazi both seemed rather twitchy-upset... "Oh, Tulgey Red! It is the best in Tulgey."
The little mome stopped when everyone else stopped, untangling itself -- and bumping into Thyme as it did -- and looking around eagerly. The announcement of tea came moments after it managed to properly free itself fully from limb and tail of both children and the Mome whistled in acknowledgment as it returned to Hatter's side.
([cough] I apologize for Hatter's random. Uhm, he realized that he hadn't had tea in a while and his befuddlement ate him alive. XD)

And from that moment onward, Rosemary made a vow. A vow to meet all the outsiders she possibly could to utterly destroy her mother's theory. Of course this probably meant that she was going to be a horrible Tulgey, but it didn't matter if she proved her mother wrong.
Sage made a disappointed sound at her sister's chiming in. Parsley made a small sound of agreement concerning Thyme's assessment of the situation.
Kazifel visibly twitched with annoyance and anxiety. Tea? Fine. He'd go make tea, and this would be a good way to get the kids away from the Outsider. "All right kids, I want you all to go upstairs to get your mother. I'm going to make tea for Mr. Hatter so we can have a nice grown up chat." He motioned to the door, expecting the children to get out as told. He would tolerate no complaining or pouting.
"And Mr. Hatter. I would appreciate it if you and your... friend would follow me to the kitchen."
Loreta made a small sound of discontent. Things were only getting worse, weren't they? The Corvie wolf sounded rather annoyed.

It looked like fun-time with the weird little mechanical pet was over. Sigh. Thyme rolled on the floor for a moment and scratched flexibly behind her ears, twisting her body in a way that it wouldn't have been meant to go if she hadn't been a young canine to reach before rolling to the other side and getting to her feet. Maybe it wasn't dignified, but it got the itch on her head and on her back at the same time. What wasn't there to love about that?
And... go get Mom? "Okay, Dad," she agreed, turning and bounding up the stairs with youthful enthusiasm. Really, she wanted to see if their mother had managed to successfully contain Rosemary, and how hard it had been to do it. Their sister was going to be so jealous once she learned what they'd been doing and seeing downstairs. And when she learned about stupid Sage's present, she was probably going to be indignant on principle!
At a scratching on the door and a loud "Moooooom," Femi let go of her finally relaxed daughter and moved to unlock it, letting in the little Highlander who told her that Kazifel was making tea and could she come downstairs with the weird people.
Femi practically vibrated with unhappiness as she came down the stairs, Alphonse still tucked in bed and at least one puppy bounding around her feet with pent-up energy.

Hatter disliked the great aura of discontent that filled the air when the children were sent away. They were such sweet, cheerful, chaotic and things... they made it harder to acknowledge that their parents weren't all that happy to see him.
Blast it. He really should have though to use a Tulgey appearance when he came... Though, Loreta... Drat it, he was stuck either way, he would just continue making the best of it. Maybe there was still some way to win the family over?
Now he was sitting at a table in the kitchen, Loreta close to his side -- to better admire her new form without seeming disinterested in the company -- as he peered at Kazi and awaited Femi. "I apologize, again," The Hatter added as he waited for the unhappy squirrel to join them, "for causing such a disruption in your home. Your family is very charming." He'd apologize to Loreta separately for putting her through all this... Heh.

"It's fine," Kazifel muttered as he continued to fuss with the tea. It wasn't really fine. Femi was going to be utterly furious. Why couldn't he just have one tiny thing? Was it so much to ask for company from Corvistowne? Even if this man was... suspicious. And his Lady friend honestly wasn't all that pleasant, it was still someone to talk to who wasn't going to bash his skull in for being a mixed region that didn't belong in Tulgey.
As soon as Rosemary had a chance she bolted straight past her mother and to the strangers. She wanted to ask them questions. It wasn't fair that her siblings had a chance to. She darted past Sage and Parsley straight to the kitchen.
"HI!" she announced rather loudly as her siblings waited for their mother before going anywhere near the strangers again. Clearly they didn't want to upset her anymore than than Rosemary was going to with her actions. "Can you tell me a story?"
"Rosemary," Kazifel half snarled at the girl, still in his human form so it sounded far less threatening.
Loreta watched as the girl instantly deflated. She scooted a bit closer to Hatter.

Thyme didn't get a chance to say a word to Rosemary before she bolted. Aww. Man, she was really gonna get it later from Mom, wasn't she? If she hadn't gotten enough already. And Dad wasn't too happy either, so she'd find no help there. Shoulda waited.
Watching her hyperactive child romp towards the bizarre, frightening, and in her mind hostile Outsiders made Femi want to scream or squeal. Or break things. But that would upset her husband, and probably start the children crying. After settling Alphonse, that was the last thing she wanted to listen to right now. It might make her start tearing up in sympathy, and then where would her poor Kazifel be?
Speaking of the man, there he was! She gravitated towards his side like a magnet and wrapped her arms around his neck far too tight, not quite strangling him but not making it especially comfortable to be him just then either. She was obliviously unaware just then. With her body securely attached to his, she turned her eyes on the strangers and tried glaring holes in the one that wasn't cringing. If he'd been made of wood... maybe she would have.
But that would have utterly terrified her love, and that wasn't acceptable. And impossible.
"When are they leaving?" she asked in a whisper with a whimper at the end, not an especially quiet statement. She'd never been all that wonderful of a hostess. That had been her mother, and the woman had mostly failed in impressing the same mannerisms towards guests on her daughter, however distasteful they may have been. She could have just gone and hid when she was a child. Now she wanted to be near her husband and keep her children away from the freaks at the same time, which wasn't going to work at all.
It was too dark for them to go safely, she knew, but she didn't care. Was her husband really going to feed the people that had hurt their baby on his first hunt?

([is the queen of fail and slow] Not sure if you guys want to continue with this considering how outdated it is >_>;; but here is a post nevertheless. >_>)
Hatter broke into an instant smile. Kids. Kids were a delight. "Hello!" And then Kazi's growl cut him off as well and the Hatter instantly fell into a shifty silence. Oops. Perhaps he'd get a chance to tell the curious little one a story later..? He tossed a sheepish smile her way and was about to speak up again when Femi finally came downstairs.
In an instant the Tulgey squirrel had attached herself to her husband and had fixed Hatter under a stern glare. Hatter simply smiled and pretended it did not exist.
"Good evening." She could glare all she wanted, so long as she didn't attack him or anything he'd be fine. "Hopefully come morning, ma'am... If that would be alright." He'd also like to try and have a bit more of a discussion with Kazifel, if at all possible. "The nightlife in The Wood isn't exactly the friendliest for traveling." Honestly, Hatter had done it before and could most likely do it again but he really hated the idea of putting Loreta through that as well. Hopefully Kazifel's wife wouldn't force them out just yet.

"Femi, please. He'll be gone soon," Kazifel said with a small smile as he poured tea with his free hand. "Just... sit down, please? I promise eveyrthing is going to be fine sweetie. Mr. Hatter just needs to stay the night with his friend, and then they'll be gone."
This really was a mess. This was the first time in a long time he had a chance to speak with someone from the outside. It wasn't like his Aunt came around very often. And really it wasn't as if he had any friends in the outside world either. This was a chance.
Rosemary hopped onto one of the chairs closet to Hatter and the strange Torquehelm. Her tail flopped frantically as she bounced in her seat. She wanted to know what the stranger had to say despite everything her Mother and Father's protests. The outside. She wanted to know why it was so horrible...
Loreta shifted closer to Hatter. In all honesty she wanted to go right now, but they didn't have much of a choice. She had no doubt in her mind that the night was as dangerous as Hatter claimed.
