The truth was something difficult to find. Once it was found it was more difficult to explain. Could he just come out and say "I love you?" to her? Would that work? Would she reject him. Worry filled the sparrow as he pour the tea for himself. His bander sat on the couch watching his owner pace in and out of the room. Silly bird shouldn't be so stressed about such things. The bander practically rolled her eyes as she settled in her spot on the couch. Ezekiel paced, tea in his hands. This would be fine. This would be fine. He would express his love to her an everything would go smoothly. He took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. Hopefully nothing was wrong though. She had sounded stressed last time they had spoken. He didn't want everything to fall apart again. There was a knock on the door that almost made the bird drop his tea. He shook it off and set it on the table before hurrying to the door. Oh, Cecilia. Please. Please understand.

Ronno's persistence to stay in contact, especially of the physical kind, had Cecilia on edge. It was like he wanted something and was all but smoldering beneath his fur to have it. Only it wasn't what men usually seemed to burn for when Cecilia went out at night. Unlike them he wasn't satisfied. Getting away from him after every 'rendezvous' was almost awkward. She found safety in Ez. Blowing off work for the night, Cecilia cleaned up and 'dressed down'. It felt like an impossible task, washing off all the grime she felt like she acquired while she was working, but she did her best to sparkle without the assistance of her jewelry when she visited Ez. Arriving at his door, Cecilia smoothed out her silky white dress and knocked cheerfully on the door. Her face instantly lit up the moment she saw him, concerns melting away into a school-girlish joy. "Ez~" She cooed, bouncing forward to glomp her best friend.

He accepted her hug, carefully keeping his balance. It was a good thing he set his tea down. The sparrow chirped happily as he spun around Cecila and shut the door. Now. Now he had to go and do that thing. Right. He had to confess his love to Cecilia. No it wasn't going to be that easy. The bird paused for a moment, glancing at his tea. Right! He should get her something to drink. "I'll get you something to drink, and I have a few cookies in the pantry! Then I need to talk to you about something important!" Ez said cheerfully with a note of nervousness strained in his voice. He'd make sure to turn on his diamond charm before confessing. The bander's head snapped up with the mention of the deer's name. She sat up, bolt upright, and jumped off the couch. Trotting over to the deer she looked up at her with large pleading eyes. Azzy was fond of Ceci for all the treats she gave her. Her stubby tail flicked as she waited for Ceci to acknowledge her. Ez hurried around in his kitchen, grabbing the cookies and a drink from the icebox. Why was he so bloody nervous?

Cecilia couldn't help the delighted giggle that escaped her as she was spun about and pulled into the room. Ez was positively the best, and so wonderfully sweet that Cecilia never wanted to leave. She nuzzled him briefly, only to be caught of guard when he quickly pulled away to get her a drink.
"O! Cookies and tea sound lovely!" Cecilia giggled slightly, pleased but also vaguely confused. He'd seemed almost a little eager to get away, and a tad nervous too... What was this something important that he wanted to talk about? She sorely hoped nothing was wrong.
The doe's confused smile lingered on her muzzle for a few moments until Azzy suddenly rushed up and looked up at her with those massively adorable black eyes. Cecilia let out a delighted little noise and crouched down in order to dote affection on the wonderfully sweet ball of fluff.

Cookies were balanced on the tray Ez held. A smile painted on his beak as he tried to think of ways to say what he wanted to say.
Azzy approved of the affection rained down upon her. She wiggled and rolled happily for Cecila, licking her hand whenever possible. Hopefully the deer would give her a treat. She liked it when Ceci gave he people food. Ez wasn't one to give her treats like that.
The sparrow sat the tray down on the coffee table. He took a deep breath before sitting down on the sofa. "So the thing I have to tell you... err...." the sparrow couldn't think of how to put this without blurting it out. He could, of course, use his diamond charm but that really wouldn't be the same, would it?
Being honest was the best way to go. His father had always ranted about how it made life easier.
"Ceci, I love you. I really love you."

Cecilia delighted in Azzy's affection. Azzy was the only bander that hadn't scared Cecilia half to death and, of course, Cecilia spoiled the little blue fall of sweetness all the more for that. Had she a treat at the time, it would've happily been given over to her.
Sadly for Azzy, Cecilia was immediately distracted by Ez's return. He still looked so nervous and it worried Cecilia a great deal. She didn't want to have done anything wrong... Absently she grabbed a cookie, breaking off a piece for Azzy before moving over to the sofa to sit with Ez.
And when he spoke at last it was Cecilia's turn to be at a loss for words. Her mouth opened briefly, lips parted to speak before they closed again. He couldn't mean that... and yet he very obviously did. Cecilia didn't bother with words, she just let out a delighted squeal and pounced forward to glomp him.
She pressed her nose to his ear, trying to make her stomach stop fluttering. "I love you too, Ez." It was a very easy thing to say, a fact which both surprised Cecilia and made all of the sense in the world to her. Ez was, and had always been, the very best thing in her life. How could she not love him?

Azzy's fluffy tail wagged as she snatched up the cookie happily. She quickly hurried to her side of the sofa out of Ez's view to properly munch on it.
The sound she made was a good word, and the words she said made everything better. The sparrow gave a sigh of relief. He felt quite better now that he had said the words that had been plaguing him for so very long.
"So I was wondering if you.... if you wanted to live with me or something. I guess I'm just worried about you and I don't want anything to happen." He said quietly as he wrapped his arms around here. "I want to be your Queen. I want to make it to that rank just for you so I can protect you from everything."
And everyone. He wasn't particularly fond of her job and what some men ended up doing. If it was his choice he would hang every last one of them by their balls. His Ceci was more important than that worthless trash.

Cecilia couldn't seem to let go of Ez.
Her nose had shifted to press against his neck, burying itself there while Cecilia tried to absorb all the lovely things he was saying to her. Things she'd never ever expected to hear and which would have meaning only coming from the Selkie bird she was clinging to.
His every word was like something out of a dream; so sweet and wonderful. "I... I'd really love that, Ez." That he wanted to be a Queen for her, just for her, was yet another thing that was positively beyond words for her. Deep down inside she was beyond thankful, she was utterly relieved. Work had gotten scary, having a child had been terrifying, and it would be so nice to just hide a way for a while and forget things.
And what better way than to forget things than to have something new and wonderful to lose herself in?
"You're too sweet, Ez." It made her blush a little, but she was smiling too much to really care about that. "I never realized you felt so strongly... I..." The doe leaned back just enough to see Ez eye-to-eye and to give him a little lick on the tip of his beak. "I couldn't be happier."

Relief. Joy. Everything he was feeling right now was happiness he hadn't felt in a long time. His heart fluttered for a few moments when Ceci licked the tip of his beak. His typical smirk broke out into a smile.
"Good. I was so terrified that I would lose you," said as he hugged her a bit tighter. "This is the happiest moment of my life!" He said cheerfully as he hugged her again. He wanted to get up and dance around the room in all honesty.
This was a day to remember.
A part of him however wasn't completely elated. Malc wouldn't be thrilled about this... he was sure. After all they had done together they still weren't on proper terms. He was still uncomfortable and wasn't able to tell him the truth.
He'd deal to that bridge when he came to it.

Cecilia could have up and danced as well had she not been so perfectly happy where she was. She didn't want to let go of Ez, even for a second.
"Lose me?" The doe hugged her sparrow more tightly, nuzzling herself up underneath his chin this time. Although she did not want to admit it out loud, Cecilia knew what he meant. She was aware of the danger she put herself in although she did not often admit it, even to herself. "I wouldn't leave you, Ez, not ever." She kissed his neck, his chest. "You're the best thing in my entire world."
But he was still talking about happy things, and Cecilia was still perfectly elated. Nothing could have been more perfect in all of the world. Especially at that moment, cuddled up all warm and comfortable against the most wonderful sparrow in all of existence.
