Passed out again. Just fourteen and drinking herself into the gutter over and over again. Another drunken brawl fight, and she couldn't even remember the face of her assailant. Or how she'd gotten into the gutter. Again, and again. Surely by now she was nothing more than a sewer rat. A sewer rat that had managed to crawl her way into a decent part of the City, for once, and laid half-conscious in the growing puddle of her blood, her one eye staring listlessly out into the night. Fuck. She'd said she'd come back home to Kat, that she wouldn't keep him worrying... Least she'd warned him tonight that she'd be out and he wouldn't have to be up worrying himself to death. He could ease his thoughts with delusional beliefs that she'd wandered back to the Court of Clubs, to Cyanide where she was 'wanted'. Wanted. The rat coughed and wheezed, feeling the blood running down her jaw. When would this stupid game she was playing finally be over? When would everything just finally stop?

Radzimierz could clearly smell rot and blood. They were smells that normally didn't linger in this area, from his previous experiences. His ears swiveled as he tried to hear something. "Eurwen..." he said quietly. He heard his sister stop. The swishing of the fabric she wore was a good indicator that she was turning around. "What is it Meir? We should really get going. You don't want Mom and Dad to find out that we sneaked out again." She said, impatience was strong in her voice as she bounced on her toes. They hadn't been caught skipping out of the house at odd hours for quite sometime. "I smell blood. Blood and rot. You obviously smell it too." "I was trying to ignore it," Eurwen muttered. Radz narrowed his empty eyes, the closet thing he had to a glare. Perusal she caved to his request, and dragged him along on the investigation. It took a bit of doing, but they found the source. Radz was only informed when Eurwen made an alarmed gasp and jumped behind him. He felt her squeeze up against him in horror. He opened his mouth to ask but she finally blurted out what was in front of them. "It's a Lowlander! Rat! Thing!" Eurwen practically shrieked into her brother's coat. "We should just leave it here."Radz raised an eyebrow. Rat? Lowlander? Well that just sounded too good to pass up. "Are you okay?" he asked the person in front of him, leaning forward a bit. A Lowlander was a perfect thing to experiment on!

Vesper didn't expect anyone to pass her way. Very few people really did when she was at this point of failure. Everyone just stayed the hell away from her... Today they didn't. Her ears flicked a little, but didn't actually lift and she squeezed her good eye shut.
It wasn't doing her any good right now.
The darkness behind her eye lids only made the world spin more and the rat gagged... only to stop herself from heaving moments from hearing the gasp-shriek of a young female. Ha, just Thing... That was a suiting description. Vesper opened her eye again, only to find a... eyeless... well, thing staring back at her. Fucking weird.
"If I were okay I wouldn't be layin' tha gutter now would I?" The rat bared her teeth in a sardonic and battered smile. Fuck, she looked like crap... Good thing he didn't seem to be able to see that. "Ya should listen to ya lady friend though... I ain't worth your time." Vesper felt the edges of darkness pulling at her, blood loss and alcohol trying to make her succumb to their whims. She fought it. She wouldn't pass out in front of two complete strangers.
Especially not weird ones like these two.

"Well. I can't very well see with holes in my head, can I?" Radz said with a bitter smile forming on his muzzle. He could feel a tingle at the edge of his eyes. No. He wasn't going to "cry" over this, he was only slightly annoyed. "In fact, if I could see I would probably agree with your last statement. However, since I can't, I'm not going to listen to a word your saying. Since you seem to be in need of some help, I might as well try to provide some for you, right?"
Eurwen's eyes widened as she looked at the back of her brother's head. He wasn't serious was he? He wouldn't help a Lowlander! He knew what grandpa said about them! Eurwen made an alarmed sound. "But! We don't know her and she's a Lowlander!"
"Oh, but Mother always preached kindness. And I'm sure that we can do something about that rot."
Oh. Oooooh. It all clicked for Eurwen as she looked at the rat. Er... really? Did she want to touch that? What if it passed her rot to her.... she shudder at the very thought.... maybe she should start with basic first aide. Not like she had anything for that.

The rat bristled slightly. She hadn't meant to insult the boy's vision, missing an eye herself gave her a hint of sympathy for the weird thing, but she'd always had a knack for just saying all the wrong things. Absently she tried to force herself into a sitting position, determined to get up... to get away.
Where the hell was this weirdly colored kid from anyway? Their colors were bright enough to maybe be Corvies, which bothered her. Corvies and passing out and all that just didn't seem safe.
Corvies made people like her, the disoriented drunkards that wouldn't be missed, disappear.
She tilted back and, to her dismay, only managed to get blood in her eye. The rat hissed and bit her tongue lightly to keep from cursing while the boy was speaking. "Didn't mean ta diss your eyes, man. Missin' one mahself..." Her speech was slurred with alcohol and she grumbled angrily between her words. The pain was everywhere, being alive still hurt. She brought a paw to her head, trying to place it on the cut.
When the little white and green mouse spoke up, Vesper hesitated. Now, see, that one had the right outlook on life. No one tried to help Lowlanders.
And then he said the keyword. Rot? He would help her with her rot?
How the hell could she say no to that? How... "Ya wanna help? ...I won't say no. Livin' might not be so bad if I could do somethin' 'bout it." Oh how her soul ached at that possibility... To be normal. "You're a Corvie, ya? Do what ya want ta me, if it'll help, I'd just like tah make it home to my brother eventually, kay?" She squinted her blurred and currently bloodied vision trying to see the mouse behind him. Bright, that's all she could discern through the haze. Regardless, Corvies or not they could understand family... She hoped. They looked a lot alike, at least.

Oh. She had a family. This made things a bit more complicated. Oh well. That just meant he had to try a little harder. It was good inspiration, and he would just lay off the harsh chemicals then. At least he could mix something up to drown the smell out for a short while.
"Do I have to touch it?" Eurwen asked her brother with a frown on her face.
"Yes, stop pouting. Help her--you are a girl right?--up. There has to be a place not covered in rot." Radz instructed. Eurwen was his sister, and his assistant. She helped with all of his experiments since he had the unfortunate problem of being blind.
He shrugged it off. No time to dwell on things he couldn't accomplish it was time to dwell on things he could manage.
"But there's all that blood...."
"Eurwen. Suck it up. You've probably seen worse while Mom was working at the clinic. Now help her so we can get moving. It's not like we're that far away from the Lab." He said as flatly as he could manage.
She whimpered as she walked over to side of the Lowlander-mix that wasn't rotting. How was she going to do this? The other girl was a good deal bigger than her. "You'll make it home. It's just a matter of patching you up so you can walk on your own power first." Then again she reeked of alcohol. This was going to be one hell of an ordeal.

Vesper growled a little to herself as she half laid-half sat in the gutter, trying to ignore the fact that there was a good deal of her own blood around her. Fuck. And then the mouse girl was calling her an 'it' again, which gave the weird eyeless guy even more trouble. Why did everything have to be so complicated?
"Yeah, I'ma girl. Vesper." She figured it was best to maintain an identity rather than... well, just letting them keep calling her It and The Lowlander.
When the girl, Eurwen?, approached, Vesper grumbled a bit under her breath and mustered what little strength she had to get herself up into a wobbling standing position. "Jus' give me some support... I can do tha walkin' if ya can keep everything from spinnin.. or going out." Vesper paused, movement was definitely going to be a task if even standing made coherency a little hard.
Once Vesper had the other female's support, she leaned heavily into it and briefly closed her eyes. "...Thanks." The commented was largely muttered under her breath, but she meant it. Not dying meant a lot to her in the end, even if she didn't always believe it herself.

Eurwen made a rather alarmed sound when the Lowlander mix touched her. Her fur stood on end as she tried to support the weight without struggling. She really didn't like touching this thing. Not only was it a Lowlander, it was ugly and smelled bad. If she didn't love her brother so much she would have kicked him in his teeth.
Radz could have cared less. After all he was getting someone to experiment on. He hadn't run into any live subject that was a card... he had been using stray animals to test on. This would be the perfect chance to test on something living, that could tell him what was wrong.
But he still had to be a bit hospitable, Lowlander or not, he supposed.
"I'm Meir, and that's my sister and wonderful assistant, Ivy."
Eurwen made a growling sound as she helped the Lowlander-mix walk. This was going to take forever if they didn't pick up the pace.

"Don't fuss, it's just blood." Vesper stared at the girl through her one good eye, a frustrated scowl briefly winning over the other pained expressions on her ratty features. "I'll keep the real gross shit from touchin' ya, wouldn't want it ta touch me eitha."
It was just further reminder of how much Vesper hated herself.
What she needed, really, was some proper bandages, stuff that wouldn't be shaken off so easily. Then she could just hide all her problems, pretend like they weren't there. No, what she needed to do was get her blasted bipedal form and just hack off the infected limb.
None of these thoughts were very comforting, but it kept Vesper from thinking too much about how her stomach was churning while she tried her best to hobble at her very quickest pace. At least the girl supporting her kept Vesper from wobbling and tilting, like she had been doing all the times she'd tried to walk on her own. And then, to her bloody dismay, the weird boy was talking again.
Introductions? She shook her head briefly, trying to get a bit of blood out of her good eye so she could see them both a bit better. "Meir? Nice ta meet ya, I guess... and Ivy?" She considered the girl for a moment before making a sort of wheezing chuckle. "Suitin' name for an assistant sort."

"Blood can harbor all sorts of parasites you know? You're not running around sleeping with everyone are you?" She said as she shifted to try and compensate for the weight. Even though the girl was only a rat, there was still a considerable sized difference. You know what. Screw this. "Hold on," she said to Vesper, "I'm just going to carry you."
She activated her Club ability and shifted to compensate for the rat. She wasn't going to touch the rot. Everything would be fine. Everything would be absolutely fine.
Meir had stopped walking, and turned around to "watch." His ears swiveling as listened to what was happening. It wasn't that far of a walk but his sister never had been the strongest member of the family. That and she was.... the smallest. Only one who was a pure mouse.
"Nice to meet you two Vesper, I wish it was under better circumstances." He said with a small shrug. "But we should have you fixed up in no time."
Moderate Magical Ability: When activated, she can carry up to 200 lbs of extra weight for 24 hours straight, one day per week. She is left feeling tired and somewhat drained for the 24 hours following that period.
