Parzifal heard a commotion downstairs through the floorboards and ignored it. Family matters were private, so far as he was concerned. Whatever they had come to discuss with their brother, he would let them hash it out before he returned. He didn't want to bore them with his conversation while they were trying to discuss personal matters.
Why was he letting this get to him so badly? So he'd rambled and hadn't gotten the hint to change the subject. Big deal.
It was a blow to the ego, all the same. He was used to a combination of his Diamond charm and his normally reserved nature taking care of awkward things like that. Apparently he had just gotten touchy during his time away from the Wood. Vren wouldn't have hesitated to shush him if he got too chatty and annoyed the mage.
He just needed a few minutes. One hand reached out to stroke the blankets that covered his colorful little egg. Hesitating for just a moment and feeling awkwardly silly, he nevertheless picked up the bundle blanet and all, settling it in his lap and wrapping himself around it.
At least the warming blanket was doing its job. Hopefully the Queen's favor had done the same, whatever it had precisely done. He brought his knees up, making a little cocoon with his body, and rested his cheek on the soft bit of the blanket-covered egg peeking out. Maybe he hadn't wanted it to begin with, but he didn't know what he would do without it now that it was here.

"What the hell did you do to him?" Parsley asked, his tone changing from angry to annoyed. Of course there wasn't much difference beyond the higher pitch that it took.
"He was prying in my personal business. So I just used that little trick I have," She gave a small shrug. Forge snickered as he took another sip of tea.
"You jerk," Parsley stated.
Sage decided to interrupt, taking her sister's side, of course. Rosemary was the only one who ever bothered to defend her in the childhood spats. "She has a right to keep her business to herself. Personally I think that's the most responsible use of her ability."
Parsley shot his pretty sister a glare before turning to Rosemary. "I think you should apologize to him if he took it so badly."
"Bite me. He shouldn't stick his nose where it doesn't belong."
If the squirrel would have been capable of growling he would have done so. Instead he gave an angry chitter at his sister. "You have some nerve coming into my house and treating my roommate like that!"
Rosemary rolled her eyes, waving a paw at Sage not to say another word. She hopped off of the sofa to give her brother a proper face to face conversation. She was far bigger than him and used it to her advantage. "Our house. This was father's long before it was yours. And frankly you've borrowed enough money from my endeavors for it to be mine. So I do suggest you suck it up and take your battle of pride else where. Because Parsley, I can crush it. And I'm sure you don't want that." She gave him a cordial smile before walking past him.
She wasn't about to apologize, she decided as she walked up the stairs. But she would at least tell him that she used an ability because he was prying a little too hard. When she reached the top she called out, "Parzi! I need to tell you something if you don't mind!"
Maybe she should have asked what room he was in....

Having a self-warming little bundle tucked up against him like that was actually starting to make Parzifal drowsy. Would he be Mom? Or Dad? Sometimes two parents of the same gender made things like that awkward, but he didn't suppose Calia would mind what the child called him, whichever it was. She would just be glad that it had lived. As warm as it felt right now with the blanket all around it, the chick had to be alive. He really needed to believe that.
His eyes had drooped closed and his attention wandered into that fuzzy place it went when he wasn't paying attention or even really thinking about anything. Rosemary's yell snapped him out of it pretty quickly and he blinked a few times as he straightened. The egg went back into its careful little next of more blankets and he went to the door.
Only hesitating for a second, he turned the knob and stuck his head around. That had sounded like she was upstairs. Sure enough, he caught sight of her by the stairs. His time with the warm egg-bundle had calmed down his 'flustered' and he greeted her with a small, rueful smile. "Yes, no problem. Sorry about that. I really did need to check on something." He slipped out of the room and closed the door behind him.

Rosemary tilted her head when Parzi appeared. Well she didn't doubt he had something to check up on. She was curious to know what but wasn't about to pry. "Eh, it's fine. No need to apologize. I didn't think that my ability would punch you in the nads. Sometimes I blow over people's emotions. I suppose it comes with the territory of distancing myself from the crowd."
She gave a slight bow of her head. "I should have stopped while I was ahead. I'm pretty damn sensitive about this... matter. Anyway, I think you should come downstairs. Parsley's got his panties in a twist that I upset you. Plus you still need to talk to Forge."
The sword gave her a mental poke through their connection. She shifted awkwardly as she looked at the Tulgey mix. Hopefully he was willing to come downstairs.

An... ability? She'd used an ability to set him off like that? Parzifal blinked, felt a spark of anger, and then watched it fizzle back into nothing. He sighed, shifting awkwardly. "Family problems have me a little unsteady right now. I suppose I was just more susceptible to whatever you did. My apologies for overreacting."
Between the 'egg drama', completely losing touch with his siblings, and generally feeling like a failure of a guardian because he didn't even know where they were, he'd been fighting hard against his Torquehelm tendencies for the past few months. Sometimes they got the better of him and he became thoroughly emo. He hated that, but it was just part of the curse of the realm. He couldn't fight it. He could just ride it out.
Glum thoughts for company. He gave himself a mental shove and offered her a distant sort of smile. Diamond charm would hopefully help compensate for the lack of enthusiasm. Sometimes he thought that was the only thing that kept people from seeing him as even more of a mopey person, or at least finding that quality endearing rather than irritating. "I'd rather not have your brother fussing at you because of me. Let's see if I can appease him." He motioned her to move first and couldn't help but watch her writing curiously as they went downstairs.

Rosemary shifted awkwardly. Family trouble. Heh. She knew how that was. Of course she would have used the spell regardless of the situation. There was no point in feeling false guilt or anything. "No point in apologizing to me. It's over and done with." She said with a sigh.
Maybe it was just because he was part Torquehelm. They did always have the tendency to overreact to things in her personal opinion. Either way he seemed to be able to pick himself up, sort of. She wasn't quite sure what to think. "Well he only fusses because he cares. You're probably his only friend. Though frankly I have no idea how you put up with him and his crazy."
With that said she went to walk down the stairs, her tail twitching as she went. This could have been a better day, she certainly would have liked it a better day.
Everyone was waiting in the living room for them. Rosemary padded to the couch taking a seat besides her weapon. "They're all staring. Want to let them know you're doing all right and I'm not some horrible monster?"

Parzifal nodded at her words but felt no need to comment. She didn't want an apology? Alright. He could respect that and would keep it in mind.
...heh. He and Parsley were both odd sorts of hermits, by their own definitions. He liked people well enough but rarely enough to spend time on. The squirrel seemed far too absorbed in himself to care much what other people were doing. And neither of them kept the best ties with their families, though his friend seemed to be doing a better job of it than him. His siblings had come to visit, after all. He knew where they were.
Shoving that unavoidable bit of emo firmly to the side, he entered the living room and his eyes went to the Corvie. "I'm fine, so you can stop fussing at her," he started with a small smile that was only slightly forced. Charm would smooth that over again. "She didn't really do anything. I just overreacted.

Parsley eyed the crow up and down after the statement. For all he knew his sister could have done something else and Parzi could have just agreed to play along that everything was fine and dandy. However, from the looks of it, he seemed fine. "Okay... I guess I'll let her stay for now. But Rosemary, if you pull anything else your ass is out the door."
"Yeah yeah," She said as she grabbed her tea between her paws. She glanced over to her sister who seemed to be minding her own business. Apparently she was still embarrassed about the entire fainting thing huh? This whole entire day was turning pretty awkward wasn't it?
"Do you guys have anything planned for dinner?" Rosemary asked to break the awkward silence. "Forge and I could make something or maybe we could go to a nice restaurant or something? It seems like we could use a little bit of celebration."

Parzifal couldn't say much to the squirrel's statement beyond an awkward shrug before taking a seat near him, somewhere between his housemate and Sage.
Unaware of the reason for the current drama and tension flying between siblings, he didn't understand what they were celebrating. Whatever it was might be an excellent distraction from the terribly awkward beginning to their visit. "I could help cook something if we decided to stay in. I had a lot of practice. Nothing fancy, but I know most of the basics. Especially since he has a hard time cooking his way out of a paper bag if there isn't a can involved." Red eyes slid to Parsley in amusement.
Truth be told, he didn't like leaving the house for long periods of time with the egg occupying his attention. It would only be an evening, but his quiet paranoia still ate at the back of his mind. He also didn't... have a lot of money.

Parsley looked rather sour and shot his sister a dirty look. "A celebration? How the hell can I celebrate after hearing that news?"
"She's just trying to make you feel better," Sage said rather flatly as she sipped her tea. "And it's not nice to talk like Parzifal isn't here."
The fairy squirrel's ears pulled back as she shot Sage an equally dirty look. He finally turned to Parzifal, his ears drooping as he opened his mouth to speak, only to close it again. Why would the diamond even care when he had his own problems to deal with?
Rosemary decided to enlighten the Tulgey mix, "Unfortunately we came here to tell Parsley that our brother, Alphonse, passed away. I thought that we could go out to cheer the fairy bastard up a bit, since we've known for a little longer and were hesitating to break the news."
"Rosemary."
