Parzifal checked the insulated box containing his egg for probably the tenth time that day, gingerly plucking back a tiny piece of the warming blanket that had cost him a good chunk of his money to feel the smooth surface. Still a little cool, but still alive. The favor given to him by Queen Theofilus rested beneath the egg, working whatever sort of magic it was intended to work. He still didn't know what the thing did, but it seemed to have improved conditions somewhat. From his upstairs room, crowded with books and parchment and other tools of his research, he distantly heard the doorbell ring. Embarrassed but unable to help it, he leaned down to press human lips briefly against the surface of the little egg before smoothing the blanket back over it and stepping away. Anything he could do to keep it safe... He left the room and closed the door securely, wandering down the main staircase and glancing in the direction of Parsley's mechanical laboratory. He could hear a distant clanging and figured that the squirrel couldn't hear anything over whatever sort of ruckus he was making. That left him to open the door and greet whoever happened to be there. At least the house was a good sight cleaner than it had been before he'd arrived several months ago. Every time he left for a while, mess and dirt seemed to accumulate, but not nearly so thick as it had been. He glanced through the small glass hole in the front of the door and had to stifle a gasp. Quickly he opened it.

Rosemary hadn't been particularly happy with Sage tagging along. But they were sisters, and they did have to talk to Parsley. After all, the stupid little squirrel didn't like to keep up with family matters. It was as if he was avoiding them for some reason. She brushed the thought aside as they came closer to their father's childhood home, and now their brother's place of residence. Sage had been fidgeting the entire time. Parsley was completely unaware of all the events that had transpired with the family for quite a few months. What would he think about all that had gone on? She faded her wings out of sight as they approached the house. "Rosemary...""Eh don't worry, Sage, he'll take everything with a grain of salt." Rosemary said as she bounced forward. Sage was the one who was kind enough to ring the bell. And there the siblings waited in silence. Forge was poking her with curious questions concerning the brother he had never met for more than five minutes, while Sage was still fiddling with her outfit. And then a strange man opened the door. Sage let out a surprised squeak, taking a few steps back. It took a minute for Sage to register the entire image, and the bindings that the man was wearing. "P-P-Parzi?" was all she could manage as she turned bright red. And quite promptly fainted. Rosemary did her best to catch her sister which ultimately ended with Sage's head crushing her tail. She looked up at the man with teary eyes. "Hey! Nice to see you. Totally had no idea you were living with Mr. Fairy."

A greeting was hardly past his lips when the biped girl crumpled to the grond. Parzifal stared in concern at her prone form, supported awkwardly by her sister, and took a few steps forward to help get them sorted out. He knew how difficult it could be when you didn't have hands. He knew quite well.
"Does she faint often?" he asked in concern, trying to support her full canine weight and at least settle her so that her wings and tail weren't being crunched. He recalled a shy, timid girl, but he didn't remember any fainting. "And... yes. I've been living here for a few months. Cleaned the place up in exchange for rent. It gives me a sort of permanent place to work from that isn't in the middle of the Wood."
He changed to his bipedal form and maneuvered her inside the door so that he could close it behind them. Staring at Rosemary, he looked quite dismayed. "Parsley's in his lab right now. Do you want me to go and get him or should I just... I don't know... show you to a room or something?"

"Heh. Not really. I suppose she's just shocked that you're so damn pretty. Poor Sage is a bit of a late bloomer, and I have yet to explain to her the birds and the bees. I'm sure you know how it is." Rosemary shrugged. It never occurred to her that being blunt might not be the best thing in the entire world.
She was thankful for Parzifel's help. Picking up her sister without hands was next to impossible, unless she wanted to drag her by the scruff of her neck. At least her sister wasn't too large.
"Ha! Leave Parsley to his lab. He'll come out eventually." Rosemary said as she padded into the house. She had only been here twice but she had a good enough memory to know where things were. And wow. It really was a hell of a lot cleaner than it had been before. "We'll just leave Sage on the couch for a bit, and we can catch up. If the tea's in the same place I can go make some."

Parzifal blinked at the outspoken canine, the infamous Rosemary he'd only spoken with maybe once or twice when her mother brought over more of the horde. Sage was the only one of the siblings he knew well enough to call friend, now joined by Parsley. She really did have as blunt a mouth as everyone had always said.
"Oh. Ah... alright then. I'll just settle her." He shifted the girl in his arms and half-carried her over to the nearest couch, again trying to make sure that he didn't crush her new wings. Unfortunately, her clothes were disheveled and a little dusty from her time on the floor.
Satisfied, he turned back to her colorfully patterned sister and looked at her curiously. "Catch up? Well, yes, I suppose we can. I'm sure I have a lot to catch up on. And I haven't touched the tea except to make a pot last night. I can, if you'd like...?" He gestured mildly with his hands and shrugged. It just tended to be easier with opposable thumbs, but it was the height of rudeness to flat out say so. Then again, he had a feeling this girl wouldn't care either way.

Rosemary smirked. Oh, Parzi was so terribly polite. It was adorable. She choked back a giggle as she watched him carry Sage. When she woke up it was going to be embarrassing. It was a good thing she had gotten over the crush thanks to Parsley's loud mouth. Of things that they had kept updated, that was one of the few.
"Eh well... you do have hands, but I can still make tea." She rolled her eyes. "Actually I have a better idea. I doubt Parsley's told you about anything but I have summonable weapon. I managed to snag a human form for him rather recently so he can make some tea while we catch up. How about it?"
"I'm not your maid."
Rosemary ignored him. "Unless you really want to make tea. It is your house after all, you can do what you want."
Sage twitched on the couch. Clearly she was slowly regaining consciousness on her own.

Parzifal didn't notice the twitch from Sage's prone form, too caught on what the wolf just said. Red eyes gazed at her sharply and he wondered how serious she was or whether this was some family code for something else before deciding that it probably wasn't. Parsley had not told him about anything like that.
"I'm sure you can tell that you just got my interest," he said dryly. "Parsley may not have mentioned that I'm a magical researcher. How could you possibly have acquired a magical weapon as a Club?"
He paused for an answer when his mind caught up to him. That hadn't been the original topic of conversation. They were talking about tea. "Oh. Er... if he wants to make tea, I'm not going to stop him. And it's not really my house. I'm more a live-in maid with benefits than anything. Rather like before, but with freedom." The word meant a lot to him. It meant the world, after a lifetime without it. "That really is remarkable, though. Do you mind a few questions...? Or do you get enough of them as it is?"
Never in all his research had he come across the concept of a non-Heart with a summoned weapon. He'd thought that was an immutable fact, that only Hearts could summon them. Silly him... anything could be changed with enough magic. He should know that well enough.

Rosemary gave him a wicked grin. Parsley had told her very few things about his new "roommate" as he liked to call him. The crow probably didn't know what he could get away with. Then again he seemed too honest to do that sort of thing.
She summoned Forge, who grumbled as he wandered into the kitchen.
"You can ask as many questions as you like and I'll tell you what I know. Let's start with the weapons belonged to the e'Devya part of the family. In the long line of mages the founder was the one who came up with the weapons. My Aunt wanted to kill Thyme and I when we managed to bond with these weapons." Rosemary said rather cheerfully as she hopped onto one of the nearby plush chairs. "Oh! And since you've been to a couple of regions, after this little Q&A session... mind if I ask you some questions for the sake of my bardic knowledge?"
Sage's ears twitched as she came to. Her sister was talking to... Parzi. Oh dear. Maybe she would just stay like this a bit longer?

Meeting her grin with a lopsided smile, he watched in fascination as the human suddenly appeared in their presence and made his way towards the kitchen, apparently with some degree of resentment. His eyes followed the redhead until he was out of sight and then returned to Rosemary's face with a hint of sheepishness.
"Your ancestor made them? Made summonable weapons capable of potentially bonding to multiple suits? That is really fascinating. I knew your father had some Highland in him because of your one sister, but I didn't realize that you were related to the e'Devya line. I've come across it once or twice in reading, but never very often. They didn't heavily involve themselves in my time period of interest. The founder was a Heart, correct, hence the interest in summonable weaponry?" The nerd in him was utterly delighted at this development. Maybe he just hadn't been out in a little while and that was why he felt so excited about it all? Probably, but such a historically significant find had to be worth some degree of scholarly glee.
Again, it took just a moment for her last words to get thorough the fog of curiosity obscuring his eardrums. "Oh, what was that? You're a bard?" Again, something Parsley failed to mention. Wanderer, vagrant, storyteller... all of these had come up. But never the specific phrase 'bard'. That implied quite a bit more knowledge. "I have no problem with that at all. I've certainly had some unusual encounters."

Rosemary squeaked happily. It as a sound she often saved for when she was nerding out in the privacy of her own. Or in a large public library. Either way she was enjoying herself, and it had been a while.
"Yes, we're related to that wonderful line. From what I got my Dad to tell me... his father was the bastard child of a maid and the head of the house hold. My Aunt was the oldest sibling and the Heart so she inherited the estate while my Grandfather ran off to Corvistowne. Unfortunately... or fortunately for me the long line of Highlanders and Hearts was "sullied." Which is the reason why I'm a Tulgey Club." She cleared her throat getting back on topic. "Yes, apparently he was interested in summonable weapons for those outside of Hearts. Forge really doesn't seem to know anything beyond "he had one hell of a sense of humor." From what I've read from the archived books my Aunt has... he seemed to have a hobby in magic relating to the suit of Hearts and extending it to family lines."
His real specialty wasn't something many talked about. Her included.
"You mentioned a time period... what sort of time period are you interested in?" Her tail wagged a bit.
Sage felt out of place as she listened to her sibling and Parsley. It was hard to imagine they had only met once or twice with the way they were talking. Oh well, at least they were getting along. That was better than getting in an argument.... She remained silent and refrained from sighing. Maybe she would take a nap.
