Oddr listened well, and Xylia trusted him absolutely so that she did not flinch when the needle went in. Excruciating barely began to describe the all too conscious stitching, but Xylia kept herself from making too much of a verbal scene. Whatever pain she was experiencing was for the greater good, Xylia told herself, the better she endured it now the better things would be in the end.
And when Oddr had finished the stitching, Xylia finally groaned and opened her eyes again. Everything was still painfully dizzying, but Thallak and Oddr wouldn't even let her thinking of sleeping. They had assumed these forms out of sheer determination to protect their beloved summoner, they wouldn't let her die now. "Nnn... Thank you guys." She murmured to the three of them.
Thallak had been quiet throughout the procedure, being sure not to distract Oddr, but once his brother had finished the larger male remained tense. "Will she be alright now? Will that stop the bleeding?"

Rosemary breathed a sigh of relief as she looked at the newly sewn wound. "He did a good job. It looks like it's going to heal fine. Sorry about the lack of painkillers, I'm not too familiar with herbs and a good deal of everything in Tulgey is poison laden."
She glanced over in the pale light towards the door. Should she risk cooking something on the stove. They would just chalk it up to her being alone and making a snack most likely. "The job now, though, is to keep you awake, Xylia. I'm going to cook something to eat. Err... I don't have much here but do you have any preferences?"
Cooking wasn't something Rosemary was particularly skilled at. She could make potato pancakes pretty well though, not like there were any ingredients she needed for something like that. Oh well. "Vegetarian, Meat lover? I have the ingredients for a large omelet at the very least."

Xylia laughed a little, though she was wincing through it. Everything hurt, but at least she wasn't bleeding to death. She was at least thankful for that. "It's alright... Worth the pain, if that's what helps." And Rosemary had been an amazing help so far, better than any of them could have expected from a native to The Wood.
Xylia knew the importance of staying awake, with a head trauma like she had sustained there was no other reasonable decision. The doe sighed and kept herself sitting as straight as possible. "Preferences? Uhm... Vegetarian, mostly. An omelet sounds good." She smiled softly.
Thal was absolutely relieved. Life without his summoner... He shuddered at the thought. "How else can we help?"
Oddr nodded and leaned his weight between Rosemary and his summoner and his brother. Whatever they could do to help, they would. "I haven't ever cooked before or anything, but if we can help... We'll do whatever you need."

Ugh. Vegetarian. Of course. "Well, I can do things pretty efficiently without hands, however, if one of you boys wants to follow me and help me grab ingredients and set the stove that would make things all the faster. One of you needs to stay here with her. I want the one who's the quick learner though." She gave a wink before turning around and padding off.
It was a good thing she put things in the mini icebox yesterday evening. Flipping it open with a paw she glanced inside. Eggs. Peppers. Onions. Rice. And a bit of cooking oil she had managed to snag. Maybe she should make a fried omelet then? Pity she didn't have any cheese.
"All right, hands, I need you to come over here and grab the eggs, oil, and rice while I get the skillet." She ordered as she padded away, leaving the icebox open. It didn't take her long to flick the doors open and grab the skillet handle in her mouth. Next was the fire, which didn't take long after so many years of practice.

The quicker learner would definitely have to be the quicker learner, which was probably for the best. Thal would be able to hold the lantern more easily for Xylia and he was a good talker, he'd keep the doe busy. The brother's exchanged looks and then Oddr hurried off into the kitchen to join up with Rosemary.
"Alright." He quickly did as he was told, retrieving the items requested and setting them all on the counter once he'd located them all. "Got 'em."
Back in the room, Thal shifted awkwardly. He sat down next to his summoner, carefully setting (and watching) the lantern beside him as he did. It was easy to strike up a conversation and to keep Xylia talking, they were of the same mind after all, and it was nice to enjoy their first conversation outside of Xylia's head.
There was a big difference, they found, in talking to someone inside or outside of one's head. It was nice to actually be able to watch the other person as they spoke and moved. Xylia was especially delighted by all the little ways Thal moved or gestured when he spoke. So very much like she'd always pictured him to be.

The skillet was on the stove, the fire was lit. Rosemary was actually pretty good at this after years of nearly setting herself on fire, and stumbling over herself. "Okay, since I don't think you want me to slobber all over the food, you need to pour the cooking oil in. I'll chop the vegetables in the mean time. After five minutes you need to crack the eggs in the pain. Be careful. You don't want any shell bits in there."
She said as she opened her paws up for the peppers, onions and rice. Once they were in her hands she quickly went to work. Carefully she balanced the knife in her mouth, chopping the vegetables with care.
She set the knife in the chopping block when she was finished cutting half of the vegetables. Five minutes was up. "Okay, you need to put the vegetables I chopped up in the pan while I'm stirring. The rice is last, the other stuff goes first."

Odd found, as he cooked, that he rather enjoyed the task. His hands were quick and rather nimble despite his primary task as a weapon, and he put them to good use rather quickly. Not to mention his eagerness to do a good job for Xylia's sake.
Once everything was added to the pot and Rosemary was stirring, Oddr looked over what they had so far. "You're really very talented despite only having your animal form." The sword wasn't particularly experienced with this interacting with Cards on his own, he'd never gotten the chance to before, but from what Xylia had shown him they weren't all as competent as Rose was.
As their conversation began to die down, Thal became steadily aware of the smell of food cooking in the other room. Oddie and Rose seemed to be doing a good job. The thought had barely crossed Thal's mind before Xylia inhaled happily.
"It smells really good... I bet Oddr will be wonderful with cooking, seems like something he'd be good at."

Rosemary gave him a wide grin. "Why thank you. I like to think I'm pretty skilled at a variety things. Most of my other siblings are lucky enough to have some dexterity, but we tend not to depend on each other. I've had to fend for myself food wise since I moved out of my parent's house." She shrugged.
The food would be ready shortly, she just needed to stay attentive so it wouldn't burn. She highly doubted that the weapon would know how long food needed to stay on the stove.
Her tail twitched with anticipation. She wanted to know the story of how a Spade ended up with summonable weapons. Was it possible that the mage Devya had made more than one weapon? Or was it possible that someone else had made a line of weapons that could bond with other suits?
"You can take it off the stove now. It should be done."

Thal smiled over at Xylia and gently stroked her hair, avoiding her wound. It looked like it was going to leave a nasty scar but she seemed to be hanging in there. Her thoughts were pretty clear although he could sense a certain drowsiness in her. Worrisome but better than clouded or incoherent thoughts.
"You're right," he agreed quietly. "Oddie's good with his hands, and details too... but he's loving cooking." Thal didn't know any of this from first hand experience, really this was his and Oddie's first time doing anything, but they were learning a lot in a short amount of time.
Xylia reached up to pat Thal's hand as he brought it down to rest it on her cheek. "You're both more wonderful than I could imagine, you know that?"
"I do." Thal chuckled to himself, but glanced up eagerly at the door. Hopefully they could get some food in her soon and start working on building her strength back up. She'd lost a lot of blood in the time it had taken to tend to her wounds.
Back in the kitchen, Oddr had been listening - through Xylia's thoughts - to the exchanges between his summoner and Thal as he'd worked and he found that they were definitely right: he enjoyed this cooking thing and he did have a good eye for detail. Already he'd memorized the recipe for this little meal just in case Xylia loved it and wanted it again. Now, he removed the food from the stove as Rosemary directed and eyed it hopefully.
"Is that everything?"

Well he seemed eager to please. "Yep, that's good. Unless you want to throw a few spices on it, but I really don't think that's necessary. Anyway you can put it on a plate, just get it out of the cupboard over there." She motioned to the cabinet on the left.
She hoped he did a good enough job. She honestly didn't want to deal with bad cooking at the moment. Maybe she'd let that lovely lady just eat all of it and she'd fix something for herself later. Once he set down the pan and she made sure that the stove was off (the last thing she needed was to burn the house down) she padded back into the only other room in the house.
"Here we go! He seemed like he did a good job, but you're going to be the one who decides. It should be good enough to make you feel better at least."
