Xylia was delighted to listen to the stories all evening. Rosemary had so many to tell and Xylia had never heard any of them. Her favorites were those from the Tulgey itself. She never intended to go any further into The Wood than she already had, but she loved to hear tales of what it might be like.
As soon as the light filtered through the window, however, Xylia was ready.
Oddr and Thallak gave her a quiet nod and Xylia unsummoned them both. In an instant the two men vanished and then, seconds later, the swords were back in her hands and she was able to slip them delicately into their sheaths. "Breakfast isn't necessary, I'll eat in Torquehelm." She knew the area outside of The Wood well enough that she'd be well equipped to take care of herself from there on out. Quickly she she joined Rosemary at the door. "Shall we?"

"We shall," Rosemary commented as she glanced back. Well at least she was walking on her own now, and the lack of two clearly foreign strangers along side her made them a much smaller target.
It was a delicate operation sneaking out of the Woods. But it went without a hitch. No neighbors saw them, and if they did they made no attempt to actually attack them.
It took a while for them to reach the edge of the Wood, but eventually they did. The sun was fairly high in the sky and the non dangerous morning creatures were chirping away. They reached the dimly lit edge of Torquehelm.
"Here we go," Rosemary said. "Do you want me to give you instructions to the Highlands before I leave?"
She might as well offer. She wasn't about to go and visit her Aunt, but giving the woman detailed instructions would be a nice parting gift. And maybe then they could meet again.

Standing outside of The Wood, Xylia thought she'd feel better than she did. Instead she was met with the horribly oppressive aura of Torquehelm which did nothing to lighten her spirits in regards to the troubles yet ahead.
She couldn't imagine how Maxwell stayed so chipper after growing up in a place like this.
Nevertheless, she was no longer at risk of being lynched by xenophobic sociopaths and that was, if nothing else, a slightly better feeling than before. "Thank you very much, Rosemary... That would be great." She did not relish pursuing this woman but there was no other option - she was going to find her brother. "If ever you come to the Capital, please look me up. It'd be great to exchange stories again on more... neutral... ground." The doe laughed a little awkwardly and quickly jotted down the directions Rosemary offered her.
First things first as they parted, Xylia found a proper doctor to give her a professional check-up on her head injury and then it was off to Corvistowne to fill in Ophelia. This surely wasn't going to go over well but at least there was a new and slightly more hopeful option for the future.
