Lani murmured appropriate-sounding noises as the wolf addressed his uncle, her eyes wandering around the lamp-lit main entrance. The place was spacious, she would give it that, nowhere near her worst assumptions. Of course, it also couldn't match up to the beauty and splendor of her home, but what could? It was a respectable-looking palace nonetheless.
She went willingly to her room and sniffed around it after she'd been left alone, not uncovering anything really unexpected. The rooms seemed a lot more spartan than palace rooms should be, almost as if they didn't have the time or money to spend on proper decoration, but she supposed it might have been a conscious choice. The rooms looked very 'open', even in the low light. They weren't showing off much, though. Eh, whatever.
The travel wore her out enough that she went to sleep early on, the bed meeting her approval, though of course she would have preferred it softer. If it didn't feel like she was laying on a bird, it wasn't soft enough for her particular taste. Too bad she couldn't find herself a feathery thing to warm it, but anyone here was going to be a Club and that was just beneath her on any sort of a relationship basis.
She woke of her own volition sometime after eight in the morning, having gotten a bit more sleep than she normally would from hitting the hay so early. That gave her time to investigate the palace a little bit and poke around before her uncle woke up sometime later that morning. Or afternoon. She hoped someone knew that they had to actually wake him up or he wouldn't move.
Her first priority was breakfast and a servant was able to fetch that for her, which immediately made the day a little bit better. Food delivered to you had a way of doing that. Afterwards, she figured she would go see if they had anything resembling a garden, or if it was all dirt or something.

He was nervous. Oh bloody Suits he was so nervous. The Queen took a deep sip of his coffee, hoping that it would calm his nerves. Coffee always seemed to do that. Maybe it was his killing the caffeine with too much sugar and milk? No, no, it was all about mind set right? Okay . . . so, there was nothing better then relaxing outside with a good cup of coffee. Oh who was he kidding? He was more nervous then when he had first met the evil creature that Minh and Mnem called Monty. This was the first ‘big’ event of his being Queen of the Clubs. Trying not to fidget he found his fingers tapping on the table top any way. Looking down at his hand he found himself distracted by the surprise of human skin. It still surprised him, being in this form. Having finally gained it a little while back he had taken to using it mostly for Courtly functions to help show his power, though currently he still preferred the familiarity of his bipedal one having had it so long. Needing a distraction, he was going to have to get up and walk around soon if he did not find one, he scanned the garden.

Following the direction of a passing servant and her nose, Lani finally made her way to a place that smelled more like home than anywhere in the palace had so far. Ironically enough, it was outside of the palace, though of course still on Court grounds. She was surprised to see a rose garden in what seemed to her the most unlikely space, near the Court of Clubs. It was obviously quite young, all of the plants still in their earliest stages of creeping and not having covered the trellises properly, much less taken over the space like the Hearts garden had been cultivated to do for several hundred years. Nevertheless, it was... cute.
Kind of funny that their gardens were so magnificent the Clubs felt the need to try and duplicate them - pathetically - but cute nonetheless. It smelled nice enough too. She smirked and kept her thoughts to herself.
Eventually she came across a small patio-like area with a table and chairs suited for outdoor eating and conversation. Seated at the table was Anoushka, sipping a cup of black coffee flavored with honey, and a human man that she didn't recognize but could certainly admire. Rawr, what a sexy thing. The horns were a little weird as a decoration, but whatever floated his boat - he could certainly pull off the weird accessories. Rawr again.
Anoushka stared into the inky darkness of her drink and took another sip. "Just be ready to see someone who looks like he vent through a meat grinder and be polite and you'll be just fine, my Qveen," she said quietly, not looking at the man.

At his King’s words he gave a nod of his head to acknowledge them.
He could definitely understand the meat grinder feeling. He still bore the scars from his previous battles, both from the creature-that-was-not-his-friend as well as that of the previous Queen. Though from everything he had heard of the Heart King his scars were much more obvious and much more violent in nature.
Still scanning the garden around them he spotted someone he had never seen around his Court before. He was sure that he did not know everyone who made their way in and out of the grounds but this one seemed like someone that he should have – and definitely would have – noticed before.
Turning his attention back to his King, he raised an eyebrow before nodding in the person’s direction, his nervousness forgotten.
“My dear Anoushka, do you recognize that lovely canine with wings over there?” The female was sure to know, she always seemed to be aware of who was who.

Bernard limped down the hallway, the shortened muscle in his leg making it difficult to get anywhere quickly anymore. He growled at it lightly in irritation as he made it out to the grounds in the back.
He was startled to see...a garden. Roses.
It cheered him up a bit though, and he managed a genuinely pleased smile, bag hefted over his shoulder as he ambled toward the table on the flagstones a bit away. He could see Lani in the distance, which pleased him as well...he wouldn't have to go looking for her. Thank god.
Finally approaching, he gave a quick bow at the waist and straightened up, smiling at Anoushka first, her larger form catching his eye. Then turning to the other...and quickly hiding his surprise.
That was the Queen of Clubs? What an outfit...huh.
"Good afternoon, Anoushka, your Majesty. Sorry it took me so long, I don't do stairs as quickly as I used to."
He limped over to the Queen, gave another quick bow and held out his hand.
"It's a pleasure to finally meet you, your Majesty. I am Bernard, the King of Hearts."

Anoushka turned her head until the white and gold and red form caught her eye, snorting slightly. In a quiet voice, she answered. "That vould be von of Serafino's children, the natural-born Qveen. I can only assume she came along as part of her Court training and to keep her great-uncle company. Pretty thing, if not for all of the feathers." No, far too much 'bird' about the girl for her to feel completely at ease, though there was more wolf than anything. Like her uncle, who didn't wear his feathers, it was enough to keep the instant enmity to a minimum.
Then she saw Bernard limp into the gardens and her expression perked up slightly, for all that he looked like crap compared to normal. She'd thought his face couldn't get any more mangled. Obviously she'd been quite wrong. "Bernard, very good. I'd been hoping you vould find us out here. May I present to you the Qveen of Clubs, His Majesty Aderlass." Formal introductions were called for, but hopefully they could dispense of them without too much fuss.
When she saw her uncle, Lani grinned at him and moved around so that she would follow about half a minute after him. She wanted all the stuffy formality out of the way before she came onto the scene. It was a lot easier to deal with that way.

The Queen’s eyes widened some at who she told him it was. That was definitely unexpected. This was one of the old Queen’s children? His own mind wandered to his own son who was currently being taken care of by the present Queen. Was life not a funny thing? he thought to himself, smiling a little – though it was not all happiness.
His mind only wondered for a moment before his attention was brought back to the table by their visitor’s appearance. Meat grinder . . . was a good description of the man. Though he would have said the man looked like he had been more then ground up and spat back out.
Having been introduced by his King he bowed his head to the King in return before offering his own hand and shaking the King’s. “It is a pleasure to finally meet you as well, King Bernard. A lot has been said about you as of late. I hope that your injuries do not still bother you too much.” He was quick to motion towards one of the empty chairs at the table. “Please sit, have a cup of coffee.”

Bernard gave a smile of grattitude to the Queen after being formally introduced and collapsed into the chair.
"They don't bother me as far as pain goes, they've just found other ways to irritate me." He said with a rueful grin, shaking his head. "As for coffee, I would love some, thank you."
He watched out of the corner of his eye as Lani trotted up and gestured to her.
"Ah, yes. May I also introduce my niece, her Majesty, Lani. She's just getting to see the other Courts for the first time, though feel free to give her the boot if we start discussing anything important."
He grinned at Aderlass, hoping he would appreciate that he could be rid of Lani at any time and took the coffee eagerly. Even without alcohol it would help his head, thank the Hills.
Bernard took the time to further evaluate the look of the Queen while he was busy for a second with Lani... That outfit was certainly loud, he wondered if it spoke for the man's lifestyle or if it was just how his form came clothed.

Lani made a politely respectful dip to the Queen and a slightly shallower one to his King. "Pleasure to meet you, Your Majesty," she said lightly, then hopped up onto another chair and settled her rump for what she was sure would be a boring conversation. Still, the new Queen really was eye candy. What utterly fantastic clothes. She wanted that coat, clotheshorse that she was. The man himself looked awfully young, but she couldn't tell if that was because of his age, his attitude, or just a generally youthful appearance.
Giving the man a moment to settle and sip at his coffee, Anoushka smirked at Bernard. "Thank you for that gift basket a few months back, by the vay. The sausage and cheese vere qvickly devoured, I assure you." Their casual relationship amused her on most days. She could never really hate a man who was so willing to laugh at himself. It always helped to put her at ease.
