Bernard nodded and sipped at his coffee, the Queen had a good point. "I'm unsure of where to begin on changing the mid-set though. We would have to manage to...well... un-teach over half of the world's population. I suppose we could start with some form of group communication, but I've always been at wits end about how to achieve that without bloodshed."
He grimaced a little. Honestly, if the suggestion ever came up in some parts of the Highlands, he knew that a good amount of people would throw a fit that leaned toward a magnitude of attack as opposed to friendly learning.
Anoushka though...her statement made him snort coffee painfully and he grabbed for a napkin, still snickering.
"Oh hills! Can you imagine Vestra's letter? Good afternoon, I've heard you're having a little get together with the other Courts. Sounds like fun, I hope you're enjoying it. Do tell me how it all turns out won't you?" Bernard mimicked the other King's voice as best he could and slumped in his chair like the overweight Diamond King.
Slowly regaining composure, he sat back up and grinned, shaking his head.
"No...heh. No, it hasn't been done in years...it'll be a good thing to push, I'm all for it. I'll send the letters out to Vestra and Varestes as soon as I get back to the Court of Hearts."
Lani then trotted out of nowhere and flipped the bag up onto the table. He rolled his eye a little at her slang but smiled, affectionately.
"Thank you, Lani. Yes, I'll remember you exist again when lunch "happens", I remember to feed other people, you know."
He waved her off and then. to his surprise, Anoushka as well.
"Alright, best of luck. Send me a letter or come back out to tell me if the person fit the bill." He called after the wolf's retreating back.
Turning to the Queen, he shrugged.
"Well, now that we've been abandoned, I suppose we should sign these trade papers." He said with a shrug, pulling them out of his bag and passing them along the table. "If you don't mind my curiosity though...what was it that caused you to push for Queenship? I'm always interested, if you'll pardon the question."

Sitting back he watched the antics between the two, grinning in amusement and giving a chuckle or two. He had not expected this kind of interaction between the two Kings but it was a welcomed it. The fact that this was a concern for someone else besides himself definitely made it feel like it was something that could happen, even if it was in the distant future.
He fell silent and was content to just watch as the Heart King’s niece came back with the bag. She seemed to make a quick exit once again and he barely had the chance to mutter a ‘bye’ before she was off.
And now Anoushka was leaving too? Well he supposed he had no argument to it, he was feeling much more comfortable about the whole situation and he did not want to keep her from any of her work. “Of course,” he said giving his permission, though it did not really seem needed.
After they were both gone he turned his attention back to the King. “It would seem so. I think you scared them off,” He said decisively with a nod of his head, though his grin would more then give it away as only joking.
When he was handed the papers he was handed he made quick work of reading through them, making sure to ask any questions where clarification might have been needed on specific details or understandings. Filling in the appropriate spaces and adding his signature he handed it back to the King. Finished with the hard work he sat back in his chair again tapping his fingers on the table lightly.
At the king’s question he raised an eyebrow in question. “I certainly do not mind at all, though that is a bit of a hard question to answer. It was never my intentional goal to become The Queen of Hearts. I had a slight interest in the Courts when little, well mostly the ranks, but I mostly wanted to become a jewel crafter.
“When I finally came to the Capital after finishing my apprenticeship and started on the rank thing . . . well the lack of members in the Club Court struck me as something of interest that I wanted to change. I would guess the need to help my Suit and be able to provide protection caused my push.” He gave a small shrug.
He had never really thought of it, he had mostly just seen the need for someone to be more active with his Suit – not to say the previous Queen was not doing his job – but in the mouse’s eyes he had not been doing enough. He had always felt the need to be able to help others and provide what protection and support where he could.

"Well, I am good at that you know, scary as hell...that's me. Scrawny Humans are just a major fear-factor fr most women, be careful." He laughed, pulling back the papers and signing his name on two lines across from Aderlass's.
"A jewel crafter? Really? That sounds like an interesting path, you could probably still pursue it when the Courts fill up a little...then you're allowed free time, or so I'm told." He shook his head, though still smiled, folding the papers up and sliding them away in his bag.
"The Courts are full of reluctant Queens these days, it seems. Did you know the the Spades Queen, Lysaras, is only on the throne because she feels guilty? Her predecessor was murdered in an...odd manner, and she was just shoved on the throne. The entire Court thought they were going to fall apart. The only King was Varestes and he's...a bit out of it when it comes to work... The Diamonds Queen is in power simply to protect his family, or so goes the rumor. My Queen Rai is in there due to circumstance and now I learn your intention was different at first as well. It's so strange...we've come to an odd time, I must say."
He gave the Queen a pleased look.
"Wanting change and seeing that it was needed though. That's admirable, your Majesty, I'm glad to hear it...it means you'll be a good ruler, if I'm any judge."
He looked over his shoulder and gazed around for a few seconds.
"Starting a garden? Heh, I've never seen a Clubs Queen with a perchance for flowers, mind showing me around?"

“Well thank you for the vote of confidence.” The Queen replied with a friendly smile. It was always good to hear that someone else thought that you could and would do a good job. Sometimes all the work and decision making started to ware on the Queen’s self image and hearing someone else think positive on everything helped to a great degree.
At the Heart King’s mention of the gardens the Queen could not do much but chuckle and have a wide grin spread on his face. It amused him to a great degree every time he thought or saw the garden, reminding him of a night long past when he and the current Queen of the Hearts had had a long discussion of plots and plans for their futures and the goals that they would entail.
Now, besides from the great source of amusement, it also helped to serve as a reminder to himself of his goals and his purpose here as The Queen.
“It would be my pleasure.” He replied with a nod, standing up and waving his arm in invitation for the Heart King to follow him. “I am afraid to say that the bushes are still quite small and many years younger then those you are used to. Perchance is a bit of a big word for it. They were mostly just planted out of my own amusement. After the old Queen was dethroned and myself declared the new Queen they were my first order and serve as various reminders.” The mouse had no intention of being in any competition with the Heart Court over his small garden, which was not the purpose of them after all.
