"Everything is going fantastic," Eilwyn said with a meek smile. He was quiet for the rest of the time. Taking a seat by Elyse he tried to stuff down his panic. It was working to some degree, though his feathers were ruffled in odd places and he looked uncomfortable. Hopefully Aderlass would ignore it.
Oh. And boy was he going to get some news. Even if he was exhausted. Hopefully this would be good news. The eagle would have loved to hug Elyse that very moment but didn't want to risk any glances. He was on edge, one more thing could send him into tears.
In all practicality he should have learned how to control his anxiety issues. But that would never happen. No matter how hard he tried he would remain nervous. Instead he picked up his tea and took a careful sip. Sometimes he wished he didn't have a beak.... at times like this it made things difficult.
He waited for Elyse to tell him the news. He wasn't going to open his mouth until this was over.

"That is wonderful to hear" He replied to Wyn. Reaching forward he took possession of his cup of coffee. Glancing between the two of them over the rim of his cup while taking a sip, he noted the ruffled look that Wyn wore. Elyse on the other hand seemed to almost be glowing.
Bringing his cup to rest on his knee he glanced openly between the two of them before finally resting on Elyse.
"Perhaps you should tell me wot it is?" He offered to his daughter with a light grin and concerned look.
Elyse reached out with one paw to take hold of his own hand. Giving it a light squeeze she replied to her papa. "Now Papa, you have to promise that you will not over react, okay?"
So maybe that was not the best way to start off.

Those were words Eilwyn didn't want to hear. The eagle felt his heart skip a beat as he watched Elyse hold on to his hand. What exactly was he going to do when he found out? He couldn't be happy about this.
To stop himself from panicking he drank all of his tea at once. This was probably the worst possible thing to do with extremely hot tea, but at least he could focus on the pain rather than dealing with.... the current dilemma. Eilwyn didn't know what else to do. He couldn't say something because it would come out completely wrong. He didn't want to screw up.
This was the Queen of Clubs. He may have been Elyse's father but he was still royalty. And he could set things on fire. Eilwyn didn't appreciate fire. He could do without it. Focusing on the hot tea, his eyes began to water.
Better than being lit on fire.

At his daughter's word he went still, though he kept a friendly smile on his face, preparing himself to hear what his daughter was about to tell him. He was either going to like the news or he was not. Looking toward the eagle and his reaction - only slightly taking into account the eagle's general nature for explanation of his actions - he was pretty sure he was not going to be jumping for joy at the news.
Taking a deep breath he promised with a smile. "Alright, I will not over react."
"Remember your promise Papa." She said, giving Wyn's hand a light squeeze. "We asked you to come here today to give you news. Wyn and I think it is wonderful news and we hope that you will agree." She paused to take a deep breath. As she continued with the next part she moved her hand to rest lightly on her belly. "I am pregnant." She said with something close to a happy chirp - she had picked up the sound imitation from all her time with Wyn.

Eilwyn swallowed hard. He had no idea how the Queen of Clubs would react to the news. The eagle was terrified, and would remain as such until everything had blown over.
For now he remained dead silent as the news was spoken by Elyse. He wouldn't speak a word until there was a reaction--good or bad. Hopefully Aderlass wouldn't be as terrifying as the eagle had imagined. Fire. Why did it have to be fire or all things?
He refrained for reaching out and squeezing Elyse's hand. As much as he wanted to he didn't want to do it in front of his now father in law who could easily take his head off and set the rest of him on fire. He was silent and still as he waited for a reaction.
Worries gnawed at the inside of Eilwyn's mind. He didn't look calm, but at least he wasn't crying or in a complete panic. That would be later. Much. Much. Later.

At his daughter's news he became real still. Very still. Predator on a prey still.
He surely hoped that he had not truly heard what his daughter had informed him of. Reminding himself to breath he thought it over, The aspect of having grandkids, and the fact that they would come from his daughter were of no question of happiness from the mouse. The problem he was having was that his daughter was no longer completely his little girl.
She had him now.
Having been starring at the eagle the whole time he finally gave a blink, coming out from his thoughts.
"You are planning on taking care of her, right my boy?" He asked his voice holding a warning to the male, In the general he was extremely trusting of the male, knowing that it was not in his nature to harm or hurt anyone but this was not the normal situation in the mouse's mind,

That look was bad. It made Eilwyn's feather's puff up slightly as the man continued to stare at him. The eagle honestly thought that he was going to spontaneously burst into flames until the Queen spoke.
Eilwyn's eyes widened in a brief confusion. Why was he asking such a question. "Y-y-yes, o-of course!" he managed to spit out as he looked at the older man. He was clearly terrified of the wrath that Elyse's father might give him, but not because he was lying. It was simply because Eilwyn had never really gotten over his fear of people and "adults." Anyone older than him was utterly terrifying, unless they were family.
In theory Aderlass was going to be family now. That didn't mean anything until it was all said and done. And what if he decided to change his mind and snap the Highlander's head off when he had the chance.

The mouse continued to stare at the male for a moment longer before breaking into a smile and giving the male a pleased smile. "Good, good. I knew you would."
While he might personally think that the eagle was a little soft, from what he knew about the male he also knew that once he gave his word he would keep it. The mouse was positive that the bird would do everything to take care of his Elyse and her children. If not well then, that was easily taken care of.
"Papa!" She chided her father while he had been simply starring at the eagle. When the mouse considerably relaxed and gave his approval she turned a smile onto her Wyn. "See, I told you that there was nothing for you to worry about." She gave him a reassuring pat on the knee.

The relief was amazing. The eagle let out a sigh of happiness, tears at the corners of his eyes. He was, indeed, a soft person. A lot of people probably would have called him "broken" since he didn't see the world the way others did.
But that didn't matter. Everything was going to be perfectly all right. He hoped. The eagle nodded to Elyse's comment, a smile on his beak. Thanks to her everything was going to be perfectly all right. Eilwyn was still terribly fearful of her father, but at least his feathers and heart rate had gone down.
"Uh, Mr. Aderlass, will you be staying for dinner?" he might as well ask. It wasn't that far away, after all and it was a long way back to the courts. He lightly squeezed Elyse's hand, feeling a bit better about the whole social situation. He really should learn how not to stress.

The mouse almost, almost felt sorry for causing the eagle such a fright, but quickly convinced himself otherwise when he considered the fact that he would not be doing his fatherly job otherwise.
"We are family now, no need to be so formal my boy. Aderlass does just fine." For someone who was currently the titled Queen of the Club Court the mouse was never really for formality between familiars where it could be dropped. Those who demeaned the title where they could just to hear it and not necessarily for the respect of it were seen as too snobbish in his eyes.
"That is a wonderful idea! You will stay, won't you Papa?" It would probably help the two males get a long better and might even allow Wyn to earn some more ease on the situation.
At his son-in-law's offer and his daughters pleading for him to stay for dinner he nodded his consent.
