Peaches cursed as she ran her fingers through her hair. This wasn't happening. This couldn't be happening again. She let out a small horrified sound as she kicked the nearest stationary object. Of course that was never a smart thing to do so she ended up hopping on one foot and cursing more. How the hell was she supposed to tell the potential father? "Oh by the way when we had that threesome you got me pregnant! Surprise! More kids! Of course there's a small chance they're not yours, but.... let's add to your collection." Or maybe she should just not bother and get an abortion. She bit her lip and tried to shake it all off. For now she did have that growing stack of paperwork that she might as well do. It would be a way to avoid the truth just a little bit longer. Straightening her jacket just a bit she slipped out the door to her room as cool and composed as she could possibly muster.

Eldryia padded aimlessly and surprisingly soundlessly through the halls of the Court of Hearts, especially considering the heavy metal ball that was chained to her back leg. She found if she moved her leg in just the right way, the binding wouldn't make that horrible grating noise when it moved along the floor. She had been lost in thought as she walked...about how much her life seemed to stay the same, boring but dangerous mess it always had been, no matter how much things around the Court seemed to change. Despite her daydreaming, her ears were pricked alertly forward, not wanting to be caught unawares by any of the servants or -even worse- one of the nobles. She blinked out of her gloomy thoughts, suddenly curious where she had ended up. She was hardly surprised when she found herself standing outside her mother's door. She was surprised when said mother opened the door and nearly walked right into her. Giving a surprised yowl, she jumped back slightly, binding making that awful clanging noise as her paws and it hit the floor again. She looked up, ears going back. " MOM!...you...are you okay?..." What would have been an exasperated exclamation turned into a somewhat concerned question as she noticed something...off about her. Anyone who knew her any less wouldn't have noticed, but Peaches was one of the few people Eldy had seriously interacted with in her life.

Peaches let out a rather terrified squeak as she stumbled backwards. She had hardly expected someone to be right there, let alone her daughter who generally "kept to herself." Well, she tried to keep to herself, but never quite managed something as skilled as that.
Until this very moment.
"Nothing!" Peaches automatically said in response to her daughter as she struggled to regain her balance. After what seemed like an eternity she was standing on two feet again.
She looked down at her daughter, a frown on her face. Ugh. Spawn. She never had wanted children in the first place. And somehow she had gotten three. One of which she pretended didn't exist, the second which now could exist without fearing for her life still wanted to be invisible and the third was an angry Queen of Hearts.
Great family. And there was going to be more.
"Ergh... I'm just a little ill. That's all. Was there something you wanted?"
Please say no and go away so Mommy can pretend she's not going to murder someone in cold blood.

Eldy looked up at her mother, not believing her for a second. That reply had been far too quick. One hobby she had somewhat inherited from her mother was people watching...though she wouldn't take it as -far- as her mother sometimes did, not that she ever wanted to think about that. And when you spied on other Cards...you got to know how to read them. Especially the ones related to you. But she didn't say anything aloud, though her skeptical expression spoke volumes.
She frowned right back at her mother, and thought about an answer to the question. Though if she didn't have anything before, she would make something up.
"I'm sorry you're feeling sick," she said lightly, with an idle flick of her tail. "But there WAS something I wanted to ask you about." And she did actually have something in mind, too. Though she was also curious what her Mom was hiding from her.

Oh this game.
It was the one where you hit the mouse back and forward until it died of heart attack of you accidentally brought out your claws. The game that everyone danced around trying to hide things from each other.
"What?" Peaches said flatly before walking back into her room, motioning for her daughter to follow. She honestly didn't want to deal with anything right now. Well. She didn't want to deal with something other than paperwork and figuring out a way to tell the probable father that she might be giving birth to more sprog.
Because everyone needed more babies running around.
She physically twitched, and then tried to pass it off as an hair toss. She took a seat on the bed before giving anything else away. Lord. She was going to have to play her cards right so Eldy didn't figure things out. Not that it would be that difficult, she was the master of secrets after all.

Eldy took her time moving into the room, partially to show off how quietly she could walk now when she really tried, and partially to annoy her mother with further anticipation. She had a very love-hate relationship with her mother...she loved seeing how far she could push the line without crossing it, and hated the consequnces when she inevitably did. She was still rather young.
Once in the room, she sat primly on the rug in front of her mother, not noticing the twitch as anything odd, luckily. She smirked slightly. "Well...I've been thinking," she hedged. "I'm getting older now, but the furthest I've ever really been from the Court of Hearts is into the Capital, and that only a few times. So..." Her eyes fixed on her mnother's face to gauge her reaction to this conversation. "I was thinking...maybe I should...go somewhere. I mean, I'm not planning to hang around the Heart Court forever!" Not that she really knew what she WAS planning to do with her life...but surely somewhere else couldn't be any worse than here.

She really wasn't in the mood for this. Her hands gripped to bed as she listened to her daughter speak. How many times did she have to say the same thing over and over again. Part of her loved her daughter, the other part still wanted to shove soap in her mouth as punishment.
"Then go," Peaches said as she narrowed her eyes. "You are a grown woman. Just remember that Tulgey is dangerous. And unless you want to end up as dead as my brother, never venture there. That's the only thing I would ever ask of you."
She raised an eyebrow at the cat. Maybe if she ever had anymore children she had to bind she'd sew their mouth shut. That would solve a lot of her problems, and maybe they would starve to death so she wouldn't have to deal with them.
"If that's all you should probably go. I'm not in the mood to deal with idle chatter."

Eldy pouted slightly at her mother. That wasn't the answer she'd been expecting. It wasn't the answer she wanted. Honestly, she wasn't sure what she HAD wanted, but a slight reprimand and yet ANOTHER warning about Tulgey and the unhappy fate of an uncle she'd never meet was not it.
"Yeah yeah, I know, never go to Tulgey," she said a bit flippantly, then regretted her tone. "I mean...I won't, Mom," she amended in a softer voice.
Her ears went back slightly, some of the fight going out of her at how her mother sounded more...upset than usual. More on edge. SOMEthing was up...and Eldy's natural curiousity, at least as much as her caring for her mother, drove her thirst to find out. But at the same time, she didn't exactly want to be on the recieving end of her mother's wrath.
She thought carefully before speaking again. What could she say to get her mother to not dismiss her so abruptly, but not get her TOO angry? She wanted to leave the palace of her own will, after all, not get kicked out.
Her ears perked as an idea came to her, and she laid down, resting her head in her paws. "I'll be quiet, then," she said meekly, though her eyes glinted.

Peaches shot Eldy a glare. Idiot girl. She really did love her, and didn't want to see her suffer and yet she just threw off all of her warnings. Fine. All her children were ungrateful bitches despite the hard work she put forth to make them happy.
She would play the part of the miserable mother than.
"I'm not willing to play games right now Eldy. I know you're all for pushing my damned buttons, but I am tired, sick and can't put up with any more bullshit without imploding. And frankly I don't want you to be subjected to my wrath when you're actually innocent." Peaches snorted.
Her daughter, innocent, that was funny.
"I'm not going to tell you what's wrong," Peaches said before standing up and walking towards the door. She was going to make her way to her office. If Eldy still wanted to pester her, then so be it. "If you linger, shut and lock my door behind you."
Lord. She was going easy on the girl. When had that happened?

Eldy blinked unhappily at her mother as she launched into that little tirade. Her ears went back again in displeasure, and she stood up again, feeling confused and defensive. "But Mom--" she tried to interject, but of course Peaches probably ignored it.
Eldy frowned as her mother flat out admitted she wasn't going to tell her anything. "But why won't you tell me?" she whined, a bit childishly. "I'm your daughter! I care when you're sick! You said yourself I'm an adult now, so you can trust me!" Although she had been following her mother towards the door as she made her plea against being left in the dark, she paused when she got to the doorway, thinking. She really didn't want her Mom mad at her...was it really so hard to tell her daughter things?...
Of course, she thought miserably. Her mother was nothing if not a secret-keeper. Heck, she kept her daughter's existance a secret from Pravus for all these years! And considering how much better Peaches was at spying, Eldy knew that if she tried that method of finding out, she'd only be all the more angry when she was inevitably caught.
She sighed and left the room, closing the door. No point in being there if her mother wasn't. If Eldy wanted to be alone, there were plenty of places in the palace for that. She glared at her mother's back. "I WILL find out somehow, you know!" she threatened, not knowing that the nature of the secret made that very likely in the long run. "It'd be easier if you just told me now. Maybe I could even help." She actually surprised herself with this last offer, but...her mother was the person she felt closest to in the world. Worried doubt filled her for a moment. What if it was something really bad? Her mother had always been there, even when she didn't want her to be, and to think that might no longer be the case...with a small, desperate mew, she ran after Peaches, having managed to scare herself.
