"Keep up on your rumors, Eldy," Peaches said with a slight smirk. "Bernard is completely different from me, for one thing. For another, I am who I am. And I'm not sure many people would be willing to deal with me as far as angry motherhood goes. You girls made me into a horrible hideous monster to put it lightly."
Xiven refrained from speaking as she raised an eyebrow at her mother's comment. Peaches was crazy and tended to stick her nose where it didn't belong, but beyond that... she was harmless. Her turn into a monster? That must have been a horrible joke. "Well... I suppose Heilyn won't overreact. She does like children quite a bit, even if they come from you."
"Ow. Ow that burned," Peaches said with a snort. "However ladies I haven't decided anything. If I feel like telling Seth and Heilyn about the news that is up to me. Please don't interfere."
Xiven looked to her sister, trying to give her the most meaningful "let's poke our nose where it doesn't belong" look she could possibly muster. She then reached for the tea set with a weak smile. "I suppose I should bring this back to the kitchen."

The cat frowned at her mother. Of COURSE Bernard was very different from Peaches, but the two were still...decent friends, as far as she could tell, and also both friends with Heilyn and Seth, so so really didn't see why it would be too different of a situation. But then, despite her constant 'people watching', interacting with so few of them growing up meant that her social skills were somewhat stunted compared to what they should be. So she deferred to her mother with a nod of her head.
She stifled a giggle at her sister's remark, feeling encouraged that Xiven felt at peace enough with the situation to joke about it, now. But of course a frown slipped onto her face as their mother...decided to be her belligerent self again. She opened her mouth to protest, but then caught her sister's look out of the corner of her eye. Did Xiven actually want to...collaborate on something with her? She couldn't really remember that happening before, at least not since they were very young, and the thought made her feel warm and fuzzy. She sent her sister the barest of perceptible looks in return, hoping to convey 'I'm in'.
"Well, if you insist on being stubborn about it," she sighed, rolling her eyes at her mother. Letting her think that the ending to the trailed off sentence would be something like, 'then I'll leave you to dig your own hole' instead of 'then Xiven and I are gonna do something you won't like.'

Peaches stared at both her children for a moment, watching Xiven pick up the tea set and getting ready to scurry out. Her eyes narrowed as she gave both her children a friendly warning, "Don't you dare poke your nose where it doesn't belong."
Xiven gave her mother a smirk, the same one that her mother often gave when she "knew something" that no one else did. "I haven't the slightest idea what you're talking about, Mom. Anyway, I'm going to put these in the kitchen. I hope you manage decide to tell him though. At least don't wait until the last minute or anything."
Peaches watched as Xiven left the room, whistling to herself as she went. This was a clear indication that her daughter thought she was going to win this little war, and Eldy was going to help her. She glanced at her other daughter and sighed. "Well, uh, before you leave on your trip, come to see me Eldy. I want to give you a book of different inns you can stay at that aren't sketchy but are cheap. All right?"

Eldryia managed her most innocent smile, all wide purple eyes and hidden fangs. Normally she might have actually felt chided by her mother's remark, but this was different. It was more important than some silly teenage rebellion, and plus, Eldy was not alone in her plans this time. Going behind their mother's back for her own good made a lot of sense, really...in her opinion anyway.
She nodded as Xiven said that, setting her cup and saucer back on the plate the Queen was returning. She opened her mouth to add something, but thought better of it...best not to push the issue TOO much. Peaches knew what she should do, she was just being stubborn about it. That was why she needed a little...help. Eldy's tail flicked as she waved a paw at her sister.
Despite her resolution, once she was alone with her mother and it was obvious she wanted to talk, Eldy felt a bit nervous. Peaches was someone you could never hide anything from, least of all if you were her daughter, and she started to shrink back...until she realized her mother was actually talking about something completely different.
"Oh. Uh, of course," she said, blinking in surprise. "Thank you, Mom, that would be helpful." She smiled at her, more genuine this time, and then leapt nimbly from the couch, compensating for her binding without a second thought. "...see you around?" Her tail flicked, waiting to be officially dismissed...wanting to go find Xiven and maybe find out more specifically how they were planning to go about this.

Peaches nodded, "See you around. And please don't cause any trouble." The older cat added. She knew full well that her two children were going to but a wonderful wrench in her plans. In fact, they were probably going to make her life very difficult very shortly.
Damn. If they got to Seth first....
Her exterior remained calm as she watched Eldy depart. Her head, however, was plotting on how to foil their plans.
--
Xiven meanwhile was bringing the tea set to the kitchen. She figured that her sister would simply meet her down here. After all it was a place where their mother probably wouldn't over hear them because of all the noise and people.
Of course that hadn't stopped their mother from finding out information before.
The Queen enter the kitchen, balancing the set carefully and handing it off to the nearest helper who was free. Hopefully Peaches hadn't detained Eldy for that long.

Eldy gave her mother another innocent-seeming grin, and turned to walk out the door, sneaking in the peculiar gait she'd learned over time to compensate for her binding and the noise it otherwise might have made. No longer did a tell-tale scraping or clanking give away her presence as she moved. She smirked to herself as she made her way down to the kitchen by a back passage. Silly Mom, she should know by now that her children inherited their penchant to cause trouble from one place--Peaches herself. Really, compared to what their mother had stuck her nose into, Eldy thought she and Xiven should be able to get away with anything.
She spotted her sister as she was entering the kitchen, and slunk toward her like a shadow, her small, dark frame attracting hardly any notice from the busy servants. "Hey, Sis," she whispered, perking up as soon as she was beside her sister. She smiled toothily, wondering if Xiven had seen her coming or not. Though her attention was on Xiven alone, one ear was flicking around, trying to catch anything suspicious or interesting. It was a habit to be so alert in crowded areas.

"Oh good, you came," Xiven said with a smirk as she grinned at her sister. "There's absolutely no way we can lose this "fight" with Mom. We're either going to get her to tell Seth herself, or we're going to to do it. It's just a matter of how far we want to string her along. After all, it's not that hard for any of use to get a hold of Seth, it's just a matter of time."
Besting mother in a game of secrets was just about impossible. However, turning it around on her should work. That was the theory anyway. It would take a bit of maneuvering but with Eldy's help it would be a lot easier. "So I think we should just pretend we've talked to Seth about the pregnancy. As simple as it sounds... I'm sure mom will jump to conclusions."

Eldryia nodded, feeling her mouth slip into a matching smirk as well. She could tell her sister had something GOOD planned, and she was involving her and it felt wonderful~ She nodded eagerly, that one ear still flicking around to try and catch anything out of place, especially any signs of their mother listening in. "Right. It's not as if he goes out of his way to hide...unless he's working." Already she was thinking about where they were likely to find the bat if they needed to.
But Xiven's real plan was even better. "It's just crazy enough to work," she agreed, grinning. "Mom's own suspicious nature will work against her. It's brilliant." Not to mention, it would be easy to pretend they'd told Seth...she'd just have to act perfectly innocent, and her mom would KNOW something was up. And if that didn't work... "We could always arrange for her to overhear us talking about it," she suggested in a low voice, eyes gleaming mischievously.

Xiven let out a rather loud cackle. The idea of her mother panicking over this was fantastic. And her sister's addition to the idea was priceless and beyond perfect. "I think having her accidentally over here us speaking about it would be the best course of action."
The cat looked to her sister, a wide grin plastered onto her face. "We should wait a day or two though. If we take immediate action I'm sure she wouldn't take the bait. Out smarting her is going to be amazing though. There's now way this plan could fail."
Victory, sweet victory.
--
Peaches banged her head lightly on her desk. Those two were going to destroy everything. It was just a matter of time before they blurted out her condition to someone. She hissed in frustration.
Waiting it out was the only solution. She had to see what they were plotting before she took action.
(( OOC: <3 where do you want to go with this? ))

Eldryia could have purred, she was so happy. As much as she longed to be a spy like her mother, this was the closest to an official type of job she'd ever had. Not to mention, it was a way to get closer to her sister, even after everything that had happened. Or perhaps that was why Xiven was so willing to plot with her? Eh, too much philosophizing, not enough reveling in plans. "Right. We'll be in touch, then..." Eldy grinned, showing her fangs. "In fact, I can try and keep a few tabs on Seth...just in case Mom either decides to come clean, or has been in his company too lately to fall for it." Her tail lashed excitedly. The best part of this was the fact that in the meantime, she got to act as innocent as possible and see all her mother's wonderful paranoid reactions!
-----
Over the past week, the feline had been a little antsy. Her anticipation was nearly eating her up, and she found a need to keep busy more than usual to pass the time.
Asking her mother if she needed help with anything was actually a delightful way of doing so...as she knew Peaches would be even more suspicious of a helpful daughter. She also spent some time planning for her trip, which consisted of packing her very small contingent of earthly possessions, and saying goodbye to all her favorite haunts around the Palace, which mostly consisted of very secluded places, or nooks that were good for hiding and spying in. She also spent some time attempting to watch Seth, and from what she could tell, he neither knew nor had been keeping much of her Mom's company. Perfect.
This morning, though, she'd sent a letter to her sister, telling her to meet her in a certain corridor that she KNEW her mother walked through often...after all, it was right by her office. The Torqueholm crouched in the shadows, alert as usual, scanning for her approaching sister.
