Felix couldn't help but chuckle (again) at the punch from Rose. These two must have known each other well, because they were certainly acting like very close friends. If he had been the more jealous type, their closeness might have bothered him, but as it was he was just enjoying the company. He didn't quite know how to respond to the book comment (especially since he'd met books that had fought back in the form of long paragraphs he had no idea how to decipher meaning from, but then he wasn't a reader), but the music discussion he could really sink his teeth into.
"Hmm, well, I guess so," he said to Forge, tone almost thoughtful. "There are those fiery mountain type of classical pieces. Those can get pretty intense, you know?" He'd been on the edge of his seat at some of the concerts and performances he'd been to, for example during their yearly festival in his area of Selkie, a travelling group from Villa en Miir would generally come and perform an outdoor show.
Felix nodded to Rose. "Yep! All the time. That's where the party's at a lot of the time, you know?" Anything further was interrupted by the arrival of the drinks, which was just fine with this Porcupine. He raised his glass, grinning, and definitely curious what would be in it. "You said it!" he cried, and drank.

Oh classical music was probably a topic to drop sometime soon. Forge sipped on his drink with a smile on his face. At least Rosemary seemed to be having fun. Even if she was chugging the beer. Rosemary finished the entire glass in one go, ordering another one. Apparently despite all of the caffeine she had she still wanted to drink. Her tail curled as she turned her attention back to Forge and Felix. Mostly Felix, Forge was just in the way, it seemed. "I haven't been to Lakes... so if I take a visit, what places would you recommend I go for the club scene? Any places that you frequent that are louder than others? Any place with good strong alcohol?" She leaned forward watching the bartender pour her another drink out of the corner of her eye. "I might have to pay you a visit for the sake of adventure."(( OOC: when did this thread get so long? ))

As...ineloquent a Card as Felix was, he really did frustrate a lot of his fellows when talking about more complex subjects. It wasn't that he didn't care for art and the finer things in life...quite the opposite! But he just couldn't express himself very well, even when he knew what he was talking about, which he often didn't. In the case of music, it was situation dependent. Felix loved music...but he didn't know all the technical terms for it, and he didn't even know all the artsy terms the critics threw around. So a conversation about music generally only worked for so long before the other, undoubtedly better spoken or more knowledgeable, party got frustrated and gave it up as a lost cause.
But Felix rarely caught on to these subject changes anyway, if they were subtle enough...and such was the case here, as well.
"Yes! There is one place that fulfills all those criteria," Felix babbled excitedly. "It's a club right on the docks, within walking distance of my house. They've got everything... karaoke night, dance offs, and free beer every Friday. The drinks are good and the company is too, well assuming you like Lakelanders. It's a real happening place any night you go, and the party just goes all night sometimes. It's my home away from home, in a way."
He quickly finished off the rest of his drink, which burned quite pleasantly all the way down, and signaled the barkeep for another. "We'd love ta have ya. My mom always loves company if you need somewhere to stay."

Rosemary blinked and tilted her head at the mother comment. "You still live with your parents?"
She shouldn't have been as surprised as she was. Quite honestly if her parents had still been alive she would occasionally visit for extended periods of time. As it was she bounced around from place to place, and yet she paid for her apartment regardless of where she was.
Funny how that worked. It probably would have been better if she stayed in Tulgey all the time. Of course if she did that she wouldn't be able to have any fun.
Forge took another sip of his drink, not particularly phased about being out paced by his summoner or Felix. He was just generally amused at how the conversation was going, and wished that there was some pretty Yarrow to hit on. That would have just put a nice spin on the evening. They were so terribly pretty after all and... there was always a chance he could convince Rosemary to have a wonderful night with them. That always made things better.

Felix shrugged nonchalantly, watching as a fresh drink was being poured for him. "Yeah, I do. I figure, why worry about keeping up my own place if they haven't kicked me out yet?" Why they hadn't done so was rather a mystery to many of their neighbors, but Felix didn't care to really notice such things. He grinned at Rose, unashamed of this fact, though many other men his age would have cared far more what it said about their reputations. "Besides, it's not like I do nothing to help 'em out. I sell the fish we catch in our side of the lake every market day." It was about the closet thing to 'work' he'd ever really do, and he frequently whined about having to do it. But while he was actually there, it was pleasant enough.
Especially if he could sneak a bit of the money to buy something 'nice' off the Midori traders. He wasn't necesarily addicted to drugs, but he liked to indulge every once in a while, for old times' sake. And because it was fun.
He flashed the bartender a grin as he took his new drink and gulped from it, shaking his quills a bit at the pleasant burning sensation. of the alocohol.
((this thing IS getting weirdly long, lol. XD))

So he sold fish.
That wasn't all that exciting. Rosemary eyed him for a few moments before turning back to her drink. She took a long swig before setting it down to run her fingers along the edge of the glass.
"Any other things you do besides sell fish? Or is that your ultimate profession?" This conversation was going downhill fast. At least for the prospects of actually getting something out of him. You win some you lose some.
Forge took a sip of his drink. She'd been losing quite a bit lately. Of course he wasn't about to comment about it to her. She probably would have hit him again, and he didn't want her to break his arm or anything like that. "Though, it does sound like you have it pretty easy. I have to say I'm slightly jealous. I wish I could get away with selling fish and going out to drink booze with strangers all the time."

Felix couldn't help but laugh at the expression on Rose's face. She obviously wasn't impressed, but it didn't bother him, especially not now that he had a few drinks in him. Not much bothered him normally; even less bothered him when he was drunk. This hazy thought in the back of his mind, the Porcupine gulped the rest of his second drink.
"Oh, I do plenty of other stuff...but none of it really counts as a profession. I wouldn't say selling fish is really my job either it's...it's more like my rent payment. Even my parents have their limits, you know?" He turned to Forge and shrugged. "Well I dunno, Rose here seems to have it good too. She travels all over and tells stories for a living. If you like excitement, that seems like a pretty good life to have, eh? But what do you do, Forge?" He tilted his head at the man curiously, already feeling slightly tipsy. Whatever it was the bartender was giving him, it must have been some strong stuff, since he could generally hold his liquor pretty well.
"And I don't, you know, do this kind of thing every night or anything! Sadly." Another laugh. "I only make it out here to the Capital once a week, sometimes once every two. So while I'm here, I get to indulge a bit."

A job? Forge. Rosemary raised an eyebrow at the question and remained glued to her drink. She'd let him handle the entire situation.
"I'm a weapon's instructor." Forge said with a shrug, "I teach rich people how to fight. Rosebud over here is included in the list... even if she isn't rich. She comes from a rather prestigious family filled with Highlanders, Tulgies and Corvies. I found her through her Aunt, and after teaching her we became a bit more than friends. I haven't been that lucky with other ventures."
He waved a hand, "And you get out far more often than I do, Felix. Though dare I say that Rosemary parties hard all of the time."
Rosemary snorted into her drink. "You speak lies, sir. And didn't your mother tell you it was bad to insult a lady?"
"It's bad to insult anyone."
Rosemary shifted. She wasn't drunk enough for witty banter.

Felix perked up with interest. A weapons instructor? Now that sounded like a cool job. He wondered, then, if Forge might not be a Heart. They tended to have this natural thing with weapons. Though most of them were not so willing to share that knowledge for some reason. This cemented the idea in Felix's mind that Forge must be a pretty cool guy.
"Well that's rather cool," he said, though at the comment about being 'more than friends', he raised an eyebrow and looked between the two for a moment, a sly look on his face. To Felix, it was pretty clear what that was implying. "Ahhh, I see," he said, and then watched with some amusement as the two bantered back and forth a bit.
"I wouldn't say that's an insult," he added, shrugging and smiling at Rose. "Those who party hard have the most fun, after all!"

Rosemary shook her head. "He meant it as a jab. He's saying I should be more responsible. Or some nonsense like that." She eyed the weapon before looking back at Felix. "But thank you very much for the compliment Felix. I appreciate it."
"I'm in the dog house now," he sighed as he finished up his drink. "Thanks though, Felix, I like to think I'm a blast in more ways than one." He nudged Rosemary with the last part of the comment.
Rosemary grinned, "So fast that you're a blur."
He cringed. Rosemary was terribly annoyed and he was probably going to feel that later. What a wonderful summoner he had. "You know, I'm going to shut my mouth for a little while so you two can do the talking." He shifted on his stool and ordered another drink. Might as well try to get plastered?
