He laughed when she had given him the glare, it seemed that his light taunting had worked. It faded however and he nodded slightly as she entered the home and thanked him for letting her in "It's the least I could do." He commented, brushing the thanks away. The awkwardness back full force again and he cleared his throat lightly, trying again to shove it away.
He finally entered the small main room again, holding the tray and the cups filled with tea, quickly placing it on the small wooden table and straightened once more as he mentioned to one of the cups with his wing "Feel free.." He spoke lightly, before turning to the fire that still spread its heat.
It seemed that it had consumed most of the wood in his absence and he pulled a face. He quickly moved to throw new blocks of wood on it, purple eyes watched as the fires leapt back to live and licked eagerly at the new fuel they received. He finally turned his attention back to her and took his cup of tea and took a sip, enjoying the scolding hot liquid on his tongue.
He wanted to ask questions, but he would give her the chance first to rest and get warmth. She maybe would answer some questions before he could ask them, it was her choice however and he could only watch her and hope she would be willing to give them.

Eldy gave him a curious look. Did he think that most people would take in a random stranger who was foolish enough to hike up the mountain in the dead of winter? In her experience, most people couldn't care less what some moron was doing freezing their tail off. But she didn't say anything, since after all, what did she of all Cards know about hospitality and other social niceties? She moved closer to the fire, and gave an appreciative mewl as he offered her the tea and stoked the blaze more. Carefully taking the cup between her front paws, she sighed as the warmth started to spread life back to her numb digits.
A few sips of the hot beverage later, Eldy's eyes slid shut, and a low purr vibrated in her chest as she felt the ache of winder chill finally being pushed back. Only when her tea was half gone and her fur mostly dry would she finally turn to regard her host, purple eyes dark and thoughtful. She was just as comfortable with the silence as with conversation, or perhaps moreso, even in strange company. But he had the look in his eyes...as if he wanted to ask her something. "What?"

He watched silently as she relaxed slowly, his own muscles losing their stiffness. A content sigh escaped him as he sipped more of the tea and almost smiled, it looked like a fairytale scene or something. The purr that escaped her soothing him even further and he placed the cup away before it could fall out of his wings.
His own eyes almost slipped closed, still watching her before a sound alerted him. It seemed that the little cat had noticed his gaze and wanted to know why he had gazed at her. He should watch out better what he did, some wouldn't take such things well, it was a luck that she only questioned him about the gaze he had laid upon her.
He blinked slowly, trying to get the haziness out of his eyes. He finally shook his head lightly, asking for a few seconds to formulate his sentence "Nothing, just wondering why someone would walk here on a snowy day.." A short pause "Not that there is any problem with that.." It was added in an afterthought by him.
It was somewhat an echo of what she had thought, why would he have taken someone in that went hiking in winter and especially when day was fading already. It seemed that he had been out longer than he expected, or was it just the fact that the days were so short. It most likely would be that.

"...oh." The Feline's one remaining ear (her other one looking almost like it had been bitten off by something) went back a bit in thought, and she sighed, staring into the fire and sipping her tea for a moment before answering. It was, after all, a rather embarrassing admission to make. "I'm afraid I didn't realize when I started walking into your region that it was winter. It wasn't snowing at first, you know...but it got colder the higher I climbed, and then...well. You can guess the rest. But it was too late to turn back. The only thing I could do was keep pressing forward and hoping to find a town where I could shelter out the night."
Because walking in the dark through the snow would not have been her idea of a good time. Generally, she enjoyed traveling at night, but in this case it would only have made things more difficult and dangerous with the unfamiliar terrain. Instead of a town, though, she had found...a kind traveler willing to take her in. The thought brought a quiet smile back to her features, and she rested her head on her paws, still gazing into the flames.

He nodded his head, it wasn't often that such things happened around here, but of course he had heard of the rare cases it did happen Luckily He mused, otherwise he would have gone even more mad years ago if he had visitors year round. He gazed at the fire himself "Yes, my region seems famous for cold weather high up.." A light chuckle and he fell into silence again, it was maybe the only thing he didn't like about living high up. The blasted cold.
He maybe should ask if she was hungry or something, or did one ask for that when they were the guest somewhere? He didn't recall seeing his family do such thing before when they had guests in their house. He finally shrugged the question off, his stomach would signal when it was time and if it wasn't his that would do it, hers would make the signal.
It almost brought an amused smile to his lips as it would be very loud in the silence that was only broken by the comfortable sound of the fire burning. His eyelids lowered in relaxation, but open enough that he still could watch everything. He maybe showed thrust, but he didn't really feel it. He soon focused his gaze on the feathers, used as fingers, as they played with the rim of the cup without thought. He finally raised it and took another sip, already cooling slowly down Shame.. He thought.

Eldy snorted, glad to see Angavar wasn't retiring his Captain Obvious routine just because they were now inside his home. "Yeah, I really should have thought of it," the Feline said flatly, all sarcasm in her voice directed at herself this time. "It's not like it says right in my guide book to be careful of winter storms! Oh, except wait, it does! Sheesh." She shook her head, shifting to a more comfortable, stretched out position before laying her head back down on her paws again.
Her empty tea cup was inches away, and she felt her eyes drifting closed...the shivering was over with, now, and she was dry and warm, so drowsiness was setting in. A low purr began again, rumbling in her chest as she practically drifted off in front of the fire. It was only a dull ache in her stomach that made her reluctantly open her eyes again. Though she hated to break the silence, she should ask before her stomach did it for her.
"Angavar, you..." Trying to word the question politely was a chore, so she stopped trying. To hell with it. "Got anything to eat around here?" One purple eye opened lazily and regarded him.

He laughed softly outright now and nodded his head "It could happen to everyone." He finally said, maybe trying to offer some comfort? He cleared his throat and shrugged his shoulders, voice a bit more flat he spoke up once again "Should be glad that it wasn't worse.." A shudder took a bit of the unintentional edge of those words away.
His own gaze drifted to her cup and he wanted to speak up once more. It seemed that she would so. He nodded his head "Of course.." It seemed that the choice was taken out of his ha- err, wings. He also could offer instantly his own question "Like some more tea as well?" He questioned, pausing to hear her reply.
He then moved to the kitchen, taking some eatable matters from the shelves. It would be rather simple, but he wasn't to impress someone. It would fill the stomach and that was what mattered right now. His stomach agreed with him and he winced slightly, patting it with his wing. His expression slightly annoyed, couldn't he get this done quicker? He wanted to silence the complaining of the hungry organ.

Eldy gave him a curious look. It could always be worse...that was more a Torque sort of motto, she'd always thought. Er, not that -anyone- she'd grown up knowing had been a proper Torque. Her sister had freed herself before adulthood and her mother was...well...she was herself and there was just no other word for it. Someday, Eldy herself aspired to be like Peaches...already, she'd had some work spying, though it had been put on hold temporarily by this journey across the Realms she was taking now.
Which was itself now experiencing unpleasantly snow-shaped delays. Sigh. Still... "Yeah, you're right. It could always be worse. For instance, if you hadn't come along when you did..." The Feline frowned, not really wanting to think about that possibility. She thought she could have made it to the next town, still, but it wouldn't have been very pretty.
The thought of food was enough to perk Eldy up, and more tea would chase away all the morose thoughts...for the moment. "Oh, yes please!" She pushed her cup his way so he could refill it and laid back down to wait for the food.
Eldy was curious what the Hawk might have. At least he was a fellow carnivore, so something from the meat family should be in evidence. Her ear panned back, trying to listen to the various sounds coming from the kitchen, but she was far too comfortable to really move.

He nodded his head in agreement when she spoke, although she wouldn't be able to see it. He barely could think about it himself, another Card dead because of the cold and the icy paths that raised. It wasn't a fortunate combination. Make it clear that he didn't care for them, but he didn't like to stumble upon their frozen bodies, or if they managed to survive, the wounds they had. The cliffs where sharp and unforgiving to anyone that fell down.
He let the food cook for a moment and took the pot filled with tea once more and entered the main room, refilling her cup in mainly silence. He finally smiled lightly, cheered by her more warm response "Here you go..?" He murmured and ending in an intentional question, cheered he may be, he was like with many things, unable to know how one responded to something like that.
He practically fled back to the kitchen, hiding the blush that flared on his cheeks and coughed lightly. His attention focusing with an almost frenzied speed back on the pots. He stirred it, added herbs and the like. He finally took two plates and filled it, giving her some extra. She would be famished by now for sure.
He entered the main room and placed the dish on the table there "I hope it is to your liking.." It would, it was mainly made from meat, his digestion system not really liking too much vegetables.

Eldy smiled back easily at the Hawk as he refilled her cup, but at the odd almost-questioning response, she raised an eyebrow, giving him a weird look. "Um..." But before she could say much more than that, he had practically fled to the kitchen to finish making dinner. Eldy stared at the doorway where he'd disappeared for a moment, confused, before she shook her head, shrugging off the Hawk's weird behavior, and turned to sip at her new cup of tea, sighing out happily as the warmth suffused her again.
Eldy was nursing the drink slowly, and so she'd only taken a couple of sips by the time that her host arrived again with a steaming plate of food that made the Feline's ear perk up. "Thanks. I'm sure it will be. There aren't even any vegetables in it!" She wasn't a big fan of veggies either. She knew they were healthy and all, but they were kinda nasty and Felines were made to be carnivores anyway. She began eating, and found it much to her liking indeed. That low purr rumbled up again, steady and comforting, as she ate.
