Well, that was interesting. Not knowing quite how to deal with what just happened, she turned to walk in the other direction. There would be quite a bit to talk about over dinner, thanks to Xander.
-----
Oh dear. Ohhhh dear. Was this really happening? Was it possible? It was only one time, and now she was...oh dear.
She'd noticed that she'd gotten a little pudgy, but she figured it was because of all the incredibly good food she'd been eating at the Court. But then her time of the month never came around, and that's what made her stop and think. The next day, Xiven was again swamped with work, so the canine padded her way towards the hospital wing. There she found a doctor (a female, thankfully) and after a couple of small tests, she found her worries to be true.
She was pregnant.
How was she going to tell Xiven? The Queen already had so many children, and now she was about to obtain at least a couple more. But, she did have to tell her. This was certainly something that couldn't be hidden for long.
She headed back towards Xiven's office, and soon found herself lingering outside the door. Her paw hung in midair as she hesitated to knock on the door. "Now or never, Calanthe. Now or never." She knocked, and hoped for the best.

Xiven was blissfully unaware of any "problems" beyond Xander being a pain in the ass. What was she supposed to do with him? He was so sweet and kind and suddenly he had become an complete and utter jerk.
She didn't want her babies to be jerks.
She sighed as she approved the last document. At least all of her paperwork was done for the day and she could visit a frustrated Apocalypse with soup and have a nice conversation with Cal.
There was a knock on the door before she could even set her pen down. The woman blinked with surprise as she called, "Come in?"
She wasn't expecting anyone. And honestly it wasn't like Apocalypse was going to visit her since he was still furious, so it must have been Calanthe or an unexpected appointment. Her face visibly brightened when she saw the canine enter through the door. "You're back early. Weren't you going to take samples of flowers from the garden today?"

Cal walked through the door once Xiven called for her. She saw the feline's bright face, but she wasn't sure how long that would last.
"I was, but something was bothering me, so I went to the doctor instead. I…I don't how else to say this Xiven, but…I'm pregnant."
The canine looked into her lover's eyes as she spoke those words. She almost felt like crying right on the spot. All the emotions and thoughts that had been plaguing her mind since her visit with the doctor hit her all at once. How was Xiven going to react? Cal didn't think she could do this for the first time on her own. She really needed the support, and if she lost that...she didn't want to know what would happen then.
As much as she tried to hold them back, tears came to her eyes, and even a few ran down her cheek into her fur. This should have been such a happy time, so why was she so upset?

Xiven blinked.
And she blinked some more.
Was this some sort of joke? Some sort of horrible joke? No... she... she looked pretty damn serious.
What was she supposed to say? She didn't want more babies! How the hell was she supposed to take care of more babies?! How the hell did her dick work in the first place?
Oh crap. Calanthe was crying.
Xiven took a deep breath. She still looked like she had been hit in the face with a brick but at least her voice sounded remotely calm. "I can't help but say I'm more than a little surprised. Y-You're really pregnant? With my child or... children?"
And in reality she probably was the only one who had slept with Calanthe. There was no denying the children, and she couldn't help but feel like an idiot for not being careful. She never would have imagined that she could have gotten someone pregnant.
"I... maybe you should take a seat? I'll catch one of the servants and order something for us to drink."

Cal immediately wiped away her tears with her paw, feeling foolish for crying in the first place. She then went to sit down, like the Queen had insisted, and asked for a glass of water. Once she was comfortable, she spoke again, her voice wavering slightly. "I'm so sorry, Xiven. I don't know what came over me just now. I guess it was a bit of a shock to find out I was pregnant this morning. And as far as I know, I'm having at least two, if not three, children. That's all the doctor could tell me right now."
Taking a deep breath, she sighed. At least this was all out in the open now. She wouldn't have wanted to keep this sort of information from Xiven for very long. It probably would have driven her absolutely crazy, judging by how she acted just moments ago. That wouldn't have been fun at all.
Now onto her next thought: how was she going to take care of her babies once they were born? And where was she going to do this?
The logical answer seemed to be for her to stay at the Court of Hearts with Xiven, so she could be close to them. But what of her floral business? Maybe she could move that here as well. The Palace did have a lovely garden, and perhaps she could start her own? She wouldn't want to lose out on the wide variety of flowers the Gardens had to offer. But this all had to be discussed with Xiven first. She wouldn't make any drastic changes until then. Best start off with the most pressing issue first.
"So, during my pregnancy, will I be able to stay here? I wouldn't want to be anywhere else, to be honest. I'd want you to be close when the babies arrive. They are yours too, after all."

Two or Three? Suits. How could that be? The woman started to play with her pen just to occupy her hands. More children that were "accidents" rather than planned. What was she supposed to do? What if she couldn't be a good--wait... she was a father. This was going to be painfully complicated. "That's encouraging, I wouldn't want your pregnancy to be difficult."
Hopefully everything would go smoothly.
Xiven blinked at the woman's request. In all honesty she had hardly expect Calanthe to want to stay at the palace. Especially considering Apocalypse happened to to live in the palace, and from what she was gathering the pair of them hated each other more than life itself. And a pregnant Yarrow woman around the palace probably wouldn't improve things, she was positive.
"Of course you can, I'll arrange a private room for you," Xiven smiled though it was impossible to cover up her surprised expression. Hopefully being honest would calm any fears Cal might have. "I just honestly didn't expect you to want to stay. I mean... I'm sure you have family to tell and obligations back in the Gardens."
Xiven paused for a moment, setting down her pen back in the ink well. "If you need anything at all, I'd be more than willing to help you."

The Yarrow canine noticed the surprised expression on Xiven's face as she made her request. Was her decision to stay here an unwise one? Possibly. No. Make that an 'especially', since Pale was in the vicinity. Who knew how he would react to this news? It would almost certainly not be good. Calanthe wanted no harm to come to her or her unborn children.
Maybe she should go home for part of her pregnancy, just to be safe. It would give her a chance to tell her parents about all this. She could see their faces now when she told them she was pregnant with The Queen of Heart's children. What a sight that was in her mind's eye. It made her giggle silently under her breath.
"Xiven...maybe I've been too hasty with my thoughts. Perhaps I should return home instead of staying here for the entirety of my pregnancy. I can tell my parents about the whole thing, and also finish up any projects waiting at my business before taking time off for maternity leave. But, I would like to be here when it's time. I will only come back when I am no longer fit to work. Does that sounds more reasonable to you?"

"That sounds like a better idea," Xiven said after a few moments of contemplation. "I just wouldn't want your business to suffer because of me, and I also... eventually have to break the news to Apocalypse and I know he's not going to take it well."
Even if she took the news of him getting random women pregnant "well" she wasn't particularly sure how the man was going to take it. Personally she was having a difficult time believing that she had managed to get someone pregnant after all the times she had gotten pregnant she had just assumed that she didn't have enough manliness in her to produce offspring the other way around.
Surprise.
She just wanted to scream bloody murder. Nothing ever went right with her. And now she had gotten poor sweet Calanthe into her mess of a life.
"I'm sorry to drag you into complications before anything has really started."

Cal sighed. It was good to know that she and Xiven were of the same mind. She knew Apocalypse didn't like her, but this? This news could possibly send him over the edge. Suits, she would make sure no harm came to her children. Not now, not ever.
"Xiven, dear. You've done nothing wrong. I'll just remove myself from the situation before it even becomes one. I can even leave today. It'll hurt to be away from you, but it'll be best for all of us. Just know...I love you. I love you, Xiven, and nothing will ever change that."
She got up from her seat and walked over to the Queen. She nuzzled against her, tears forming in her eyes again. She didn't want to leave, but she had to. This was certainly not an easy decision. "Would it be possible for you to get some form of transportation ready for me? I would walk back to the Gardens, but I don't think that would be good for someone in my condition. I'll go get my things from the room now. I can meet you out by the garden once I'm ready. I'll only be a few minutes."
And with that, she walked out the door.

With a heavy sigh Xiven wrapped her arms around the woman's neck wiping her ways before they parted. "Of course I can. And when it's ready I'll escort you to the carriage after we... talk a bit in the garden all right?"
----
The months were long. They were painful. And Xiven, for one, was not prepared for any of it. At least things seemed to be going rather smoothly compared to her previous two pregnancy. There was far less panic and far less screaming going on when she got the news from the servant.
She still ran. It was hard not to. And when she got there, things still hadn't happened. Thank the suits she wasn't too late. "Calanthe, I'm sorry I'm late," she said painting slightly. She glanced to one of the doctors to see if it was actually all right for her to be there.
