The Capital seems a little empty this evening, revelers and shoppe owners alike packing it in a little early this Saturday to head to the bars and pubs. A small envelope, white with blue ink swirled on it, hovers gently outside, evading all who try to grasp it and yet fluttering inexplicably down to rest in Eurwen’s outstretched paws.
Dear lovely one,
Good day to you, or evening, rather. My name is Ayden, I am writing to you because I find you to be the single most alluring creature I have ever seen in my life. While my awareness that we have never met renders me shy and of little current worth, I am hoping that you might be able to spare some time to meet with me. I would like to gain your trust first however...I am aware of the lifestyle and position in the area of...”work”, you wish to pursue. Let me be the first to tell you that I think you would be an assassin or bounty hunter of the most amazing and enviable skill. I could only ever hope to have as much ambition as you. I work in the same field, and would very much like your help if you would be interested in stopping a criminal from disturbing an event that I know to be set up for the Mayor of the Selkie Lakes. I have the information, and a good idea of where to begin, but it will take more than one person to manage this feat. The Police are worthless. Please, even if you have no interest in my work, deign to meet with me in the Fallen Wing in the Outer Bazaar. I’ll be waiting for you, beautiful.
Yours, Ayden
The image of a young-looking Selkie Mouse Biped in a leather jerkin and bone cuffs rises in miniature from the parchment. He smiles lightly, offers his hand and vanishes, his wisp of blue mane and goatee fading out last because of the bright flare of blue light.
(Your goal is to search through the bars and nearby houses until you locate Kaden in the Capital. Go with him to the Pub, he is on a trip to find a very specific kind of liquor for Hatter.)

It was a lot to take in. Eurwen found herself blushing on the sidewalk as she watched the image of Ayden fade from sight. It wasn't every day that you had a magical letter from a secret admirer who happened to a wonderful talent at complimenting you and information that you could use to further your career. If she thought about it too hard she probably would have realized this bordered on stalking. She gave the letter a light kiss before folding it up and slipping it into her money pouch. The Fallen Wing huh? Of all the bars she had been too, that wasn't one of them, of course. Which meant she had to ask around and feel like an idiot. Or she could wander around until she actually found it by herself. Great. With a small sigh she started heading towards the nearest bar. She could poke a few people there for a little information on the bar in question and maybe a little bit of information on her admirer.

What an odd day. Kaden strolled casually down the street, feathers fluffed up curiously as he peered into windows and shopfronts. Everything was so quiet, unusually so. The Capital was always swarming but today everyone seem to have taken the afternoon off, even the store owners were oddly absent. Were it any other day, with any other task appointed to him, Kaden might have stopped to take advantage of this wonderfully unusual occurrence, but today he was on a mission for Father. Since Kaden was more acquainted with the back alleys of the Outer Bazaar, the Joker had left it up to him to locate the elusive brand of alcohol that he wanted. Yet, as he strolled by yet another quiet and neglected shop front, Kaden felt his talons begin to itch. This one even had the door cracked half ajar, as if the owner had rushed off in a hurry or something. Well... It couldn't hurt to just stop in for a minute and see what this was all about, right? The muttbird peeked his head in before nudging the door open and sending Quicksand through to do a quick scout. Within moments he received the 'all clear' bark and moved in after his companion. Behind him, the door was knocked back and remained widely inviting for the next passer-by.

It took Eurwen a good amount of time to notice how empty the streets were. She found that her fur was almost standing on end. What the hell happened to all the people who were usually around? Would anyone even be in the bars?
As she was walking she noticed the form of a large bird in the distance. She froze for a moment, watching to see where they were going.
She knew that shop. It was definitely closed at this hour and that was not one of the owners or employees. Sighing the mouse found herself with a twinge of guilt at the idea of letting the poor shopkeepers getting fleeced.
Carefully she made her way to the shop, surprised to find that the door was wide open. From the looks of it it hadn't even been locked. She wrinkled her nose as she poked her head through the door.
"You know, usually criminals like to close the door behind them. Potentially locking anyone behind them out." The mouse spoke flatly,.

Sweet. The little shop was small but it had some interesting items lying right out in the open. He tucked a small (but valuable) looking trinket into his satchel before Quicksand let out his warning growl. By the time the mouse had spoken up, Kaden was already turning - "empty handed" - to face her.
His peacock-tipped wings ensured that when he turned to her he felt nothing but blissful confidence. The muttbird's expression brightened and his feather's fluffed up with pleasant surprise. "Oh, hey! So everyone's not gone after all?!"
He paused as if double-taking her words and made an awkward, honestly bashful, expression. "Oi! I'm so sorry! This must be your shop, ain't it? I'm sorry to be tresspassin', just that I saw the open door and I was hoping someone was here. Looks like something strange is going on -- someone having a celebration or somethin'?"
Hopefully she hadn't slipped in before Quicksand had growled and his little lie wouldn't be immediately busted open. Thankfully, she was a fellow Club and didn't look like too much of a threat if he needed to run.

The growl had gone unheard, she was distracted by the bizarre bird in front of her.
Eurwen found her self assaulted by overwhelming confidence. It was a little overwhelming to run into a stranger who had probably pocketed a few things before she got here and find him so damn confident in the middle of a store he obviously shouldn't be in. She found herself staring at the bird for a few moments before actually speaking. The bird would probably notice the smell of chocolate slowly seeping into the room.
"There are a few people still slinking around." She sad as she brushed her mane out of her eyes. "And it's not my store. It belongs to a good friend. Normally they're pretty tight on security and I haven't seen you work her so...."
She trailed off as she continued to eye the bird. Weird. That was the only thing her brain wanted to comprehend as it was still focusing on the idea of meeting the man in the letter. It was worth a shot. "So... if you help me get to the Fallen Wing Pub we can totally forget about me finding you inside my friend's store. And if anything ah... goes missing... my friend won't report it to the police."

Kaden sniffed the air briefly, catching the scent of chocolate though he didn't immediately associate it with the mouse in front of him so much as he assumed it was his love of chocolate playing tricks on him.
Oh! And it would appear his little 'ruse' was successful! "Well, that would appear so -- what with you being here as well." Or, well, maybe successful wasn't the right word... Maybe ruse wasn't the right word. Distraction seemed more appropriate. She was suspicious of him, rightfully so, but didn't seem angry. Kaden hesitated in the center of the room, contemplating escape routes until the mouse mentioned the pub.
"Ah!!" He exclaimed brightly. "That is exactly where I was headed!" Kaden bowed dramatically and locked eyes with the mouse before him with his widest grin yet. "I think that is a most suiting exchange. Shall we be on our way then?" He motioned a wing toward the door, shifted his satchel to be more comfortable, and motioned Quicksand to his side. The bander complied, sneezing once at Eurwen before awaiting Kaden's lead.
Casually, the bird turned back to the mouse. "So! My name's Kaden, what's yours?"

His exclamation made her jump slightly. For a moment she was poised to throw something at him, be it spell or the nearest pebble. However she had no need for her pour thought out defense. The bird seemed to be going the same place she was.
Talk about lucky.
A smile slowly spread across her face as she carefully exited the store, making sure that one eye was on the bird at all times. When he had passed through the door completely she made sure to close it tightly and fiddle with the lock before they left. At least no one else was going to break into the store.
"Eurwen. Though some people call me Ivy because of... well all the plant life that's growing on me." She wiggled her arm to make the Ivy bounce. At least the strange bird didn't seem put off by her variety of mutations. Of course... he was pretty damn mutated himself. "All right Kaden," she turned to him after the door was properly shut. "You and your adorable bander can lead the way!"

Ivy? He contemplated her mutations, watching the sprig of ivy bounce, and let out a little bark of laughter. "That is a fricken awesome mutation, Ivy! Most suiting of the alias." Maybe it was because of all the years of living with a 'Hatter' but the nickname just rolled nicely from his tongue. Wonderfully familiar, he had to say.
He gave her an overly dramatic bow, learned from his father and cheerfully set off in the direction of the Pub. He stuck to the main streets primarily but as they reached the Outer Bazaar his route took more to back alleys that twisted their way through the lowlife district.
"So, just gotta ask, what brings a nice little good samaritan like yourself out into this filthy place? No Pub in da Outer Bazaar is gonna be very nice." As she spoke he slipped out of the alley and into open street once more, pausing across the way from the old pub. A smoke-blackened lantern shone meekly by the door, beckoning the travelers through the clouded glass. "Well, this is 'er!"

Some people were predictable. And giving people a choice between using her real name and using her nickname did tell her what sort of character they were. Then again it wasn't difficult to see what sort of guy Kaden was. With the amount of confidence and charisma he oozed she was surprised that he wasn't a diamond. "Thank you, it's a result from one of my grandmother's experiments. At least... from what I gather." She gave a small shrug. Experiments were nice but she preferred action.
She managed to choke back a giggle when he bowed dramatically. It looked rather goofy with two sets of wings. She gave a small bow of her own (since a curtsy was out of the question) and followed him down the lifeless streets.
"You know how they say don't judge a book by it's cover?" Eurwen started to explain at his question. "Well my profession deals with the dirty sort, and you can probably tell from my uh... lack of fur in some places I've been in a scuffle or two."
The pub wasn't too bad on the eyes. Especially she was starting to find herself more aware of how strange everything was. She wanted to meet the young gentlemen who had sent her the letter more than anything, but all of tonight seemed off. Hopefully at least things would go... smoothly inside. It hadn't taken her too long to get here, so hopefully he would be around.
"All right," she said with a small nod as she trotted forward. She would open the door for the bird, stepping to the side to allow him in. She knew how inconvenient not having arms was since she was forced to help her brother so very often.
