Eurwen found herself in a back room. This was not what she was expecting, and she let out a small exasperated sigh. This boy had better be worth all the trouble she was going through. Her tail curled as she poked one of the boxes.
She could probably lift them with her Club ability. The didn't look to weight upwards of two hundred pounds. They all seemed to be locked though. And it didn't look like something that would be easy to break.
Crap. What was she going to do? She glanced back at the small hole. Should she crawl back to the bedroom? What if those strange people were poking around in there.?
There was a small sound that made her freeze. Oh no no no no. That sounded like the little door that she had gone through was being opened? Her eyes went wide as she bolted to the side of the door to try to stay out of sight. Maybe she could jump him? Maybe Kaden had been nice enough to follow her and it was him opening the door?
The Fox had opened the door, and was starting to peer inside.

What the hell was that? Kaden's feathers fluffed up in surprise as he watched the bull slump down and his teammates just walked on by as if nothing had happened. Whatever was in that backroom must have been terribly important if they were willing to just drop a friend like that.
Or maybe they were just assholes? Kaden never left a friend in trouble.
Which was exactly why he found himself darting past the disoriented bull and into the small back room with the others. Pulling the door shut behind him, Kaden took only a second to access the situation -- the human had her back to him, peering over at the fox who was looking into a small door near the back of the room. Ivy must have been in there.
With the element of surprise on his side, as well as boisterous amounts of confidence and a vicious bandersnatch, Kaden launched himself at the human woman. Springing onto his spider legs at the last minute, Kaden swung hard at the woman as Quicksand launched himself at her ankles. (rolled a 17 for their attack) The woman spun with a gasp, eyes wide as the Spider-Bird loomed up above her and cracked her straight in the face with his brass knuckles. (...and a 3 for her defense XD)
Down she went. Kaden grinned with satisfaction as she hit the ground with a thump. Even if she did manage to come back around after a hit like that, her head would be ringing something awful. He retracted his spider legs, lest they be assaulted, and clacked his beak to get the fox's attention.
I am going to steal your eyepatch for all of this trouble! Kaden thought to himself.
Mayle's Tarantula Mutation: Kaden has now grown four very long, hard, and spiky spider limbs from his chest. They are sturdy and long and fold up double while he walks so as not to interfere with his shorter legs, but when extended, they can lift his body into the air and help him run faster as their muscles work in a different way. (Think Invader Zim, if you will <3) These legs are strong enough to whip him out of sight at 20 mph, but they are weak against being struck and could break rather easily in battle, once broken they are very hard to heal.
Brass Knuckles: This small pair of brass knuckles looks a little pitiful until you're hit with them. Once contact is made with at least a little force, the victim will feel as though a giant bell is going off in their head, impeding their ability to hear, fuzzing their vision slightly, and literally making their heads ring.

Eurwen could feel her heart beating rapidly in her chest. She didn't expect the hand to shoot through the door and attempt to grab her. A squeak escaped her as the man grabbed her tail. Without so much as a second thought she grabbed her own tail and yanked with all her strength. His claws drew blood as she pulled her tail away from him. (Fox rolled 10, Eurwen rolled 12)
Suddenly he let go, and Eurwen stumbled backwards.
She heard the sound of someone hitting the ground, and as fast as she could she hurried for the door to see what was happening, and in theory get the jump on the fox.
The fox had heard his friend's gasp. Letting go of the mouse's tail he turned around to see the strange bird who had entered before the mouse earlier. He prepared himself to give the Club a swift kick.
That was when Eurwen reached out and grabbed the man's foot and bit down. While she was biting him she proceeded to push forward, toppling the man. Though he was easily able to catch himself, preventing his face from hitting the ground. A kick was delivered to Eurwen's shoulder, making her chop down harder out of surprise more than anything.
She caught sight of Kaden. So he had decided to help her? Oh Thank the Suits. Maybe he would take out the fox while he was focused on kicking her.
(Eurwen rolled an 18 for her attack, Fox rolled a 10 for his defense and 15 for his kick. Eurwen rolled a 16 for defense.)

((The Bull mix has recovered and rolled well. He enters the room without issue ans casts a hex on Eurwen:
This spell causes the object of its attention to be unable to move from where they stand for a full minute. Though they can still cast spells that do not require any movement of any part of their body or bodily attachments.
He then tries to pull the Bird off of his Fox companion, ignoring the Human, it wold seem they are two separate groups. The Human remains stunned and unmoving.))

Kaden's feathers fluffed with surprise when Ivy popped out of the hole and bit down on the Fox's ankle. Impressive. The fox, however, didn't go down as cleanly as the human and redoubled to kick Ivy.
Suits!
The muttbird launched himself at the Fox and swung hard with his knuckled talon, but the Fox was quick. He ducked back and raised an arm to save himself a full hit to the head, but the knuckles still managed to connect with his arm. (Kaden rolled an 8 for attack, the Fox blocked with a 6.) The Fox cursed loudly as the ringing struck through his head, doubling over and giving Kaden another opening for attack -- until the Bull charged in and ripped him off.
Kaden squawked with surprise as he was grabbed, unaware that Ivy had been hit by a spell. "Sic 'em!" The sandy little bander responded instantly, and turned instantly upon the Bull's ankle with claws and teeth. (Quicksand rolled a 12, Bull rolled a 5.) Stumbling backward to escape the Bander's attack the Bull stumbles awkwardly over the fallen human and drops his grip on the Kaden.

Eurwen found herself in awkward position. She saw something open the door, and she opened her mouth to issue Kaden a warning. But the only sound that made it out of her mouth was "K--" before she found herself completely unable to move.
Shit. Someone threw a spell at her. Completely frozen with her mouth wide open in the most awkward position possible she watched the events unfold in front of her. The bull mix! He was a ten! She could actually do something about him. Though she hesitated.
That was a dangerous spell and she only saved it for emergencies. Then again the Bull was trying to attack Kaden as well and she was standing there like a sitting duck. What else could she do at a time like this. Her other powers involved moving and she didn't think harp music could do much of anything.
And who knew how long she was stuck here.
So she focused her power on the Bull mix and prayed that it worked. It would be one less thing to worry about, and one more thing she would know about the extent of that ability.
Daisy Chain Power: They will be able to, once a month, give a Card ranked 10 or lower a sudden heart attack. This ability may not be used in battles for Queenship and may not be used without the other dealer's permission. The opponent will feel a sudden and intense pain in their chest that spreads rapidly as their heart slowly ruptures and bursts over the course of a minute. The victim will lie as though dead for a full 12 hours, before the heart starts to re-mend itself, taking another 12 hours to do so. The victim had better hope they are not buried or burned in this time... After regaining themselves, the victim will be very woozy and unsteady for 10 minutes, before being able to carry on as they were, having no memory of what hit them. (I am casting the spell in hope that NPCs can be effected without asking dealer's permission?)

((The Bull mix slumped to the floor and heaved for breath for a few seconds before shuddering and appearing to lie dead. The Human still hasn't moved and a little blood is trickling from behind her ear. The Fox slammed a footpaw down as hard as he could on the Bander, breaking one of its legs and snarled in pain, rage, and horror. He will attempt to attack...he is not likely to succeed. Search the rooms to the best of your abilities. Before the barman finds you and get that letter tucked safely away...it will open soon.))

The bull went down without much of a fuss, but he was far from Kaden's mind now. He regained his footing just in time to see the fox stomp on Quicksand. At the bander's pained snarl, his eyes snapped open wide, all of his feathers bristled up, and both sets of wings flared wide as he loomed over the Fox.
Quicksand was his companion, his partner, and his only long-term friend.
"I'm going to fucking kill you for that!" His voice was strained, quivering, and the muttbird launched himself at the fox on kill. In a flash the fox's head was captured within Kaden's talon and slammed into the floor. Kaden would drop him as soon as he fell still and as his feathers smoothed down he would begin to shake a bit as he scampered over to his friend.
He received an obligatory bite while assessing the damage, but the bander calmed after a minute of his attentions. They'd gotten into scrapes before. This wasn't too new, but it was the worst. Quicksand's front left paw was badly broken and would need to be set right away. "Stay, stay..." He reassured, coaxing his friend to behave before turning back to Eurwen.
"Just so you know, I intend to rob this place for as much as it's worth." Stepping over the three very unconscious individuals -- if they were dying of a concussion Kaden very suddenly did not care -- Kaden would begin to search the room, starting with the bed and working his way back toward Eurwen. He only pauses in his quest, even if spoken to, in order to check for an easy escape window. He did not relish the idea of sneaking back out into the bar proper with a yowling bander and a bag of loot.

Eurwen watched, still unable to move as the bull slumped on the ground and the fox stomped on the poor bander. When would this stupid spell be up? She heard the sickening crack of the fox's head on the floor.
Hopefully he wasn't dead. Could be a little messy.
When Kaden walked up to her the spell finally wore off. She jerked forward, making an awkward sound that could have been the end of Kaden's name a minute ago. She cracked her neck after a moment. "Right, I'm with you there." She commented after she gathered her thoughts.
At least the three were out like a lights. She took the other half of the room, running through it with a fine tooth comb, silently. If she found anything of interest she would pocket it quickly before continuing.
Then she went for the second room. "Kaden, there might be a way out here. And there are magic boxes, so... I imagine if we can find a way out we can steal a few of those." she commented hurriedly as she scurried through the small door.
She looked for exits and any sort of secret passage way. It was a storage room so she expected very little. The idea of going out the way she came seemed impossible at this point. She fingered the letter that was in her money pouch.

Kaden gave Ivy a thankful smile upon seeing she was mobile again and that she agreed with his decision. If they kept getting into trouble together he might have to actually see about getting to know the girl. It was always good to have allies and Ivy seemed like a useful one.
For now, though, they had a goal and Kaden kept his mind on the task: clean this bastard out and get the hell out before the barman or their foes came back around. It would seem he wouldn't be picking up the liquor for dad after all.
Thankfully the room was rather small and easy to search. He pocketed everything he found that seemed to be of intrigue or value -- may it be magical or otherwise. "Magical boxes?" Kaden definitely liked the sound of that. Stepping over the fallen fox, Kaden grabbed plucked his eye patch off with his beak and shoved it into his bag before making his way over to the room Ivy had vanished into.
Looked tight.
Kaden settled Quicksand into his bag, ignoring the bander's angry protests, and squeezed his way into the small back room. There was just enough room for him to make it through and he peered down at the boxes with Ivy. "Locked, huh? Lemme see..." He shifted over to the biggest box and softly whispered 'Telltale' before flicking a piece of silver out from under one of his brass knuckles. The box opened instantly and was quick to remove its contents. "Box'll seal again in 30seconds," he warned his friend, lest she reach in there as well and loose a finger.
Lock-Pick: Once a week, he is now able to whisper the word Telltale into a lock he wishes to open. Once this is done, he will only need to insert a small, thin bit of silver into the lock and it will open for him seamlessly. However, he'll need to make sure he's out again in 30 seconds, or the door will shut again(regardless of barriers he's set against it) and it will lock him in unless he can find the actual key...
