Kamina smiled at Ayden for a moment. That was a good idea. She gave a small nod as she moved to go past the mouse. She might as well get ready. Her ears flattened against her skull when she heard a howl. What had Ivy-Eurwen done?
Walking past the bipedal mouse she stuck her head around the corner to see what was going on. If she needed to cast her spell on something anyway, she needed to see what was going on right? The girl tilted her head when she noticed that Eurwen was running.
There was something very large coming after her wasn't it? "You guys should get ready, Eurwen is coming this way with something." She said in her usual airy tone as she got ready to focus her attack. It was an Ace. That wouldn't be a problem then.
Eurwen was a little surprised that she hit something. Or rather. Someone. She let out a small squeak of surprise at the wailing. There were people down there. People who seemed to be in quite a bit of pain. Oh suits, what was going on in this place?
She turned back to run towards Ayden and the others. She couldn't go down there alone, but she didn't think it was a good idea to go parading down there with a large group. And then she heard something behind her.
Something was running. Something very loud was coming towards her.
It was very massive, and Ace, and for the most part it was charging towards her. She broke out into a run, probably the dumbest thing to do, but she didn't think trying to hit the thing in the face without a vantage point was a good idea. (18 for her jump start).
Targeted at the Ace Calming High Ability: Kamina is now in complete control of her addictive fumes. She surfaces into lucidity herself thee times a day for an hour apiece and becomes entirely sober. She is able to tamp the fumes down into her body and force them to pack a wallop as opposed to constantly oozing trippy scents everywhere she goes. She can target and release a nearly solid wall of thick, heavenly smelling fumes at any one person once a week. This will cause the person to become obsessed with her well-being, to the point where they will turn on their friends and attack them if they make to harm her (no one else in her "party" counts). This spell will cause the person to become painfully addicted to her scent and they will either have to become a regular caller, or suffer an incredibly painful withdrawal that causes them to LOSE their rank 2-4 level spell completely (A player must be WARNED ahead of time that this will happen to them, or the original caster will be reprimanded).
(( As this ability is massive, I figured I would include it in this post, <3 hope you don't mind the edit. ))

[flail.] Victor was suddenly reminded of the portal. There were monsters here... and one near the store where the other door of the 'portal' was located. Were the monsters slipping through by accident, or if this is a conspiracy, then who? Why? Ayden had mentioned his employer set him up with a portal similar to that one. Was this an inside job? A coworker? A spy? Hell, Ayden himself? If Ayden, then why bother bringing a band of random people so far out of their way? Seemed strange, but Victor's experience with dark magic in the past has shown him the power of false security. He certainly did not want to believe it of the Mouse, and he knew he in no way did he have enough evidence to support any claim. Everything was merely an option at this point. He had to find every clue he could to to figure this out and protect everyone he could. " What's broken?"" he asked the ink beast as gently as he could, "More importantly, who broke it, and why?" When it referred to Shoshanna, he glanced back at her. Please, for the love of The Deck, let her not have run off too far. The sadness that hit him made him choke back a few tears and take a shaking breath. Too much empathy with to much stress all day. (Ouch, low Willpower roll. >> ) "Please," he begged, fighting back the emotion that threatened to take over, " Tell me what you know. She's just a child, she was only scared. We need to kno--" And then, it vomited up a bit of fur. Selkie fur. The connection hit immediately. He really hoped it wasn't... "SHOSHANNA!" he cried, whipping his head around to the girl and taking his paw off the creature. [...'The Deck'? You guys, I am a nerd. Sorry if it's crap. Gotta run to work. WEEE!]

There was suddenly a great influx in noise. Something was wailing and Jovan's sensitive ears could almost make out what he swore to be begging. Cries of help, even. His heart sunk just in time for a loud howl to break the silence fully.
Of course.
He quickly took on a defensive stance, keeping behind Kamina but only just so. If something happened he could quickly spring out to her assistance.
Thanks to his new position he was now able to clearly see that Kamina was very right. Eurwen was rushing toward them with 'something' and that something happened to be a large and rather toothy Ace. Thank the suits it was something normal though it was still more than Jovan wanted to deal with unarmed. Why the hell didn't he have a weapon!?
Hopefully Kamina's ability would slow the Ace down but there was always the slim possibility something would go wrong. He pulled back and quickly scanned the dark hallway in hopes of... AHHA. The young King felt his spirit soar in a way it hadn't since the very moment he'd woken up in the Capital all those long, painful hours ago.
(Rolled a 19 for his Weapon Finding<3) He'd found a mace. Most likely meant only for intimating decoration, it was clutched securely in the hands of a nearby suit of armor. Jovan yanked it free, delighting in the familiar weight in his tentacles, and hurried back to the group.

Stupid, stupid, stupid girl...
It was like a mantra in Shoshanna's mind, repeating over and over again, each time with a bit more force. It was His voice. She should have known it would be a mistake to stand up for herself like that, it always was. She had just been so... so afraid, and now she knew she'd done bad. Why else would everyone else be trying to calm the terrible monster down, when all she'd done was try to protect them from it? She could hear, over her own sobbing, the sound of it screaming and wailing and hissing at her, and she just... She wanted to disappear.
Sobs turned into a sudden sneeze, one that seemed to happen abruptly and broke her out of her spiral of self-pity. She sneezed again, then rubbed at her eyes. What was going on?
Was that... blood, bubbling out of its head? Simun's stomach churned slightly and he took a small step back, frowning. What had happened to it? Shoshanna had charged right into its middle, not its head, and it hadn't looked like she'd really... hurt it. Just gone into it. Which was still confusing, and he had no way to say for sure. Its wailing was making his ears hurt, though... "I think she didn't mean to hurt you... She was just scared, we had a run in with a... something that looks like you recently." And it had seemed much more aggressive at the time, but now... Simun wasn't quite as sure, and he shuffled his feet uneasily. "And... and... uh. Uh, what is that?"
His voice got slightly nervous as he looked at the scrap of Selkie fur, ears laying flat. All of a sudden, Victor was yelling for the girl who had run off to hide and racing after her. "Is she gonna be okay?"
Oh, Suits, the Lowlander was yelling her name! No doubt, he was rightfully pissed off at her for attacking the creature... She pulled her paws from her face and cringed, sneezing again. "I didn't... I didn't know it was nice..."

((I AM SO SORRY IT'S TAKEN ME SO LONG TO RESPOND! /capslock I'm just glad no one was waiting on Miah at least.))
He'd been just about through riffling and looking through the drawers of the room when he shouted and stepped back. The parchment he'd just been holding had burst into flames! The fire crawled and ate at his left hand, the Mouse screaming through the pain and agony until the fire slowly disappeared.
Breathing heavily, he craddled his left hand in his right and looked at the horrible thing. All the fur had been burned off and instead of massive burns everywhere, there was a very noticable "X" now on the back of the hand. Tail tucked between his legs he whimpered, and then started yelling again when the very same pain started across his head.
He fell down to the floor, writhing in agony until after what felt like forever the pain just as quickly subsided. Raising a shaky hand he was overwhelmingly relieved to find he still had all his long mane of hair as well as the fur on his face. But... something didn't feel right. Taking a few tries to sit up on his haunches, he pawed through the satchel until he found the old mirror he'd taken from the basement of the Hat Shoppe. That all seemed like such a long time ago.
Holding the mirror in his uninjured right hand, he inspected himself in the mirror and cried out loud in horror. Pushing his long bangs aside he read the backwards image of the word "theif" branded onto his forehead. He stayed there, staring, for a full minute without moving. He hadn't even been stealing anything at the time! Sure, he'd stolen plenty of things before but he hadn't been stealing just then! He couldn't help but feel that this was terribly unfair! He knew he'd have to let his bangs grow longer to hide this brand from other Cards. After the life he'd already lived when he was younger, he couldn't survive being ostrisized again. He just couldn't.
Miah put the mirror back away in the satchel and got on all fours, hissing and squeaking when his left paw flamed in pain. He couldn't only walk on his hind legs; they just wouldn't support him that way! Especially not now that they were so much longer and lankier.
Limping through the door and back into the hallway, he almost didn't notice the growl. But it was the sound of bells that got his attention. Jerking his head up, he peered into the darkness until he was able to make out the form of... an Ace? What was an Ace doing up here all on it's own when none of its owners were around?
It snarled at him, sending Jeremiah a step back as the first threads of fear start tingling down his spine. He backed up all the way into the very end of the hallway; backed into a corner. "Nice Canine..." he said, trying not to let the fear be heard in his voice. But just then the Ace of Spades opened it's mouth and... opened it further?!? The thing was actually dislocating it's jaw! What the hell kind of Mix was this thing?
Crouching down to the ground as far as he could, Miah tried to appear as non-threatening as possible.
The Mouse tried to speak past his heart, which had now leapt into his throat. "May I please go back downstairs? I will not touch anything else. I will go outside and never come back." Miah hoped in the name of all the Suits that this Ace could at least partially understand him, or what he was trying to say.
--------------------------------
Geronimo had been too busy concentrating on getting back to Shoshanna to have seen poor Victor being eaten by the angry blob creature. Thank goodness for small miracles.
He frowned, confused, as he realized the monster in front of him and his sister actually seemed... afraid of him! He watched as it shook, shivered and frothed all over. This was not what he'd been expecting!
Ger nearly shouted in fright as Victor came running up the steps to join them. He frowned. What was all over him?! His fur stood on end as he realized the adult was actually trying to talk to it!
Then suddenly he felt Sho running past him and had no time to stop her before she was charging at the monster.
"Shoshanna!" he shouted, too afraid to run after her. But it was too late and he watched, helpless, as she was sucked inside of it! He mewled pathetically, his tail tucked between his legs. He couldn't lose his sister again, he just couldn't! He'd rather die than her! He was about to run up to the thing and offer such a trade when she was vomited up. He ran to her side and nuzzled her gently.
"Oh, Sho, are you alright?"
He looked up, shocked, as the thing began to speak to them. He saw a few pieces of goo actually take off and move on their own too. He was in too much shock right now to feel any more, so he stared after them in surprise. He felt Sho stand up quickly and was shoved over in her mad dash of a run. He didn't need Victor's prompting to run after her, and he did so as fast as he could.
Ger found her cowering behind a bush just at the base of the steps and slowly crept in close to her. He noticed a few of the blobs bouncing around them but for now paid them no mind. All that mattered was his sister. The only person in the world who loved him and who he loved.
He was about to ask her again if she was alright when she began sneezing and rubbing her eyes. He frowned and randomly thought she might be allergic to whatever the creature was made up of. He nuzzled her gently again.
"It's not your fault, Sho! I thought it was going to attack us all. I would have done the same if I could have been as brave as you." He patted a paw lightly on her back, and felt some of the black goo come off onto his own fur. Ger looked up when he heard Victor shout Sho's name and watched as the man came running. He better not be coming to yell at her, he thought, hackles raising.
Seeing something move out of the corner of his eye he turned and spied one of the few blobs dancing close to him. Cocking his head from one side to the other in curiosity, he extended the paw with the ink creature's goo on it towards the thing. Very slowly he moved his paw closer. Maybe it would see or smell the goo on his paw, recognize it was where it had come from, and come to him. Maybe if he got it to dance for Sho, it would make her smile again. He didn't want to see her so very unhappy.

((Ayden steadied himself as Kamina brushed past, her gait suggesting that she was out for a walk in the park...as opposed to wherever they were...
She settled down and tossed back to them, lightly, they they should get ready because something huge was chasing Eurwen towards them!? "Suits! Kamina! Jovan, grab her if you can." He called, whipping out his glowing dagger and throwing it directly for the Ace's head. (8) As the Ace tore after Eurwen, the dagger nicked its ear, sticking into the wall before dissolving back into brightly colored mist and vanishing. It screeched its anger and leaped, jaws open. The wall of smoke hit it like a brick to the face. It didn't even have time to yelp, its jump leaving it crashing headlong into Kamina and Eurwen, body twisting slightly as it tried to avoid kicking either of them. Whining as though in fear, it squirmed back upright, back arched as it gazed around and slowly...began to relax. It ears perked up and after a few seconds, its tail started to wag. Slowly nosing forward, it snuffled at Kamina's head, and then sat back, dim eyes staring around at all of them, tongue lolling out of its mouth happily. Ayden gaped at it. "That, was amazing, Kamina, bravo. We'd best be on our guard now, position our new friend by the front for when the guards come back a-" A long, drawn-out scream floated up from down the further ends of the hallway the guards vanished down. Mingled shouts and continuous growls and feral noises of horror drifted up from it. Ayden stared down the hallway, then back at the group. "I'll admit that I believe my original job to be compromised...though I will admit to a terrible curiosity...what say you?"
Outside, Victor's hesitation allowed the creature to give him a long, sad stare...before finishing spitting the scrap of fur out onto the ground. It...was wrong...a weird red-brown stain to the undercoat, yellow, sickly-looking rings...it looked like the scrap might have once covered a head... "Suuuuvviuuuusssss....." It whined, watching him as he began to run off to the girl. "Broken, broken, broookkkkeeeeeennnnnnnnn......."
The blobs by Ger swirl about and one of them bursts, splashing nasty-smelling oil over the pair. Three others wriggle about and one hisses a little...
Upstairs, Miah's little Ace friend looks rather displeased. It continued to snarl, feathers rising up from its undercoat and shaking in its anger, the thing snorting at his words and letting out a sound that was much more like a roar than a bark. The bells on its collar rang merrily as it pounced for him. (13) Claws and teeth extended.))

This had been a stupid idea. She should have been more careful. She watched as the dagger whizzed by her, hitting the Ace that was chasing her. Of course the thing didn't let up, in fact it screeched in rage and she swore that it was going to snatch her up and kill her.
But it hit a giant wall of smoke that had come from--Kamina?! She made a confused sound as she continued to slide across the floor only to be promptly crashed into by the massive Ace. There was Kamina too, but the mouse had taken most of the Ace's weight, and was slammed into the floor with an unhappy crack.
She clutched her face, she was seeing stars, and her nose seemed to be bleeding a bit. But she wasn't being eaten. A bit dazed the mouse stared at her companions. Words, she had them somewhere. "Guh..." she said as she pulled herself up and heard the screaming. Herm. Apparently they weren't being targeted by the guards? "So, there are people through that door. They were begging for their family and... and there was more than just people. There's something going on that would make a Corvie cry about ethics, let's see what the hell the guards are doing." She pulled herself up and got ready to move.
Kamina did not expect the massive Ace to collide with her, and was happy that Eurwen took most of the hit. She flopped down onto her bottom and waited for a few moments as the mix breed pulled itself together. "Thank you~," Kamina said in a sing-song voice as she slowly pulled herself up. She reached out to give the canine a light scratch behind the ear.
She tilted her head when she heard the horrible scream, her tail bristling slightly. Oh dear. They were going to go and investigate weren't they? "Mr. Puppy, I need you to help lead the way, okay? Then we can take care of your ear." She gave the Ace a light kiss on said ear before motioning for it to go forward.

Jovan had to bite back a horrible curse at the collision that resulted after Kamina used her ability. A trio of awkward bodies crumbled into each other in a way that Jovan had never seen before and, somewhere in it, he heard a crunch that made him wince. Oh suits! This was...
Not so bad...?
He was nearly ready to literally beat the Ace off of the girls when he watched it suddenly right itself and flop down on its rear with it's tongue lolling out like... well, like a good dog. Which was technically what he was.
Ayden's amazement made him chuckle slightly and the tension slowly drained from him. With a small smile, he gave Kamina a pat on the back. "You really are amazing, Kamina." He swung around as the screaming started, his eyes going wide as he simultaneously noted that Eurwen appeared to have smashed her face fairly hard. Not that that slowed her down. He shook his head.
What a group, really. He nodded to the others and would take up the flank as they began down the hallway. He was armed now, the least he could do was watch their backs. Maybe it'd help him feel useful again?

The shape of the scrap of fur unnerved Victor a little. He prayed that that was someone else’s and the young girl had not been scalped. It did look old, so that was a good sign.
Despite calling for the girl, he hesitated to run to her. If she wasn’t actually hurt, he really didn’t want to leave the creature. For one, fear was unpredictable. It could attack Simun. For another, he did not want it to get away.
(Nice roll for keeping it together, Vic!) He ran to the edge of the porch, not wanting to get too far, and looked toward the girl. He couldn’t see from here with all the ink that covered her.
“Are you alright?...” He held his tongue when the question ‘You’re not missing anything, are you?’ nearly slipped out of him. Probably not the best way to put it at this moment. “Please, come back! To the edge of the porch at least.” He panted. All this running was wearing him out... but why didn’t his stomach hurt? Usually the rot that plagued his muscles caused him a great deal of grief when he moved around too much. He almost looked down to examine when the creature spoke. He turned his head around to look at it.
“Suvius?” he asked it in as gentle a voice as he could manage. The rest of his body slowly turned and he looked back at the kids to keep an eye on them, “Who is Suvius?” He turned his head again to get another quick glance at the kids.
“Simun,” he called to the teen and bobbed his head to indicate to him to come closer.

Miah had been hoping in vain, it seemed, as the Ace in front of him continued to growl and glare at him. His eyebrows rose into his forehead at the sight of feathers starting to emerge from the top coat. They actually reminded him of his own new feathers now.
In an effort to intimidate it even just a little bit (10), Miah raised his back legs and rear end up into the air from his crouched position and lifted his tail high above him, displaying the show of the black and red feathers to their greatest extent. He had a moment to wonder at the sound of the small, chiming bells being so playful when the Ace finally charged forward.
(15 for Defense) Jeremiah managed to leap to his full hight just before the brute smashed into him. With his extended limbs he was amazed to find he'd been able to prevent any serious injury, though he hissed upon feeling the claws graze both his shoulders. The warms sensation of blood matted his fur, but Miah paid it no mind.
(18 for Strength) Activating his Moderate Magical Ability, the Mouse grabbed hold of the Ace with his forepaws, used its own weight to pull it forward while he rolled onto his back, and using both his forepaws and hind legs heaved the angry beast away from him and towards the start of the stairs. (16 for Accuracy)
Moderate Magical Ability: When activated, he can carry up to 20 lbs of extra weight for 24 hours straight, one day per week. He is left feeling tired and somewhat drained for the 24 hours following that period.
-------------------------------------
The frazzled boy had still been holding out his paw to the close bloblings when one of them exploded all over he and his sister! Ger spit out a small glob that had flown into his mouth and rubbed his tongue on the grass behind him; thankfully free of any blob mess for the time being. He looked back and down at the place where the blob had been. What the hell had made it explode? He didn't do that, did he?
Feeling a slight bit of guilt at even the possibility that he'd had anything to do with the little things untimely demise, Ger looked to the other three blobs bouncing about around the siblings. They were so, flubbery! He watched them for a few seconds as they danced and moved, then frowned when he saw one of them actually hissing at him!
Putting his head lower to the ground and raising his rump up in the air, Ger hiss backed at the thing, tail erect behind him.
"You!" he said, pausing to point at the hissing blob thing. "Come here!" he commanded in a forceful voice. A voice he'd heard many adults use on him before when they found him riffling through the trash bins and dumpsters for dinner. "Come here, now!" he growled, stamping a paw into the ground in front of him. It felt odd to be using an Adult voice, but everyone respected Adult Commands.
Ger was vaguely aware of Victor talking to Sho, but paid him no mind. He would get one of the blobs to come closer to make Shoshanna smile again!
